Is anyone else finding that BB is loading INCREDIBLY slow today? I have pretty much been here since 1pm my time and this is the first time I've been able to post. It's now 8 pm. It worked fine yesterday and any other sight I try to get into is fine. Just wondering of its me or BB.

It's a little slow for me , but I'm downloading a 2 gb file , so I thought things were normal, even while downloading it's Not completely slow, maybe an extra second of load time, no biggie. So I don't think I'm experiencing it.

I agree... everything seems to load fast for me too,
It always was sluggish on my connection and very slow at times but today its been alright for the most part, no worse than normal.

Hon I think its just you, perhaps the boards way of telling you something ;)
Has it just been BB thats been slow for you or the net in general?

You're in luck Keanoite. You've finally found someone with a similar problem.
I don't think it's a problem at the board end. Try this just to make sure we've got the same thing. Close all instances of the board then reopen it, and try again. Do you use multiple tabs, or windows?

Just a note that if it was the board, it would be happening to everyone ;)

On mine at least, I can pretty much see what's happening in Firefox, and you can tell it's external. Sometimes the page will completely load, yet something is still trying to load. Sometimes the page won't load at all. My system's blocking software seems to be preventing a script, or a third party from loading. In my case I think it might be this thing I use called No Script.

Miss K, if this has anything to do with the virus I warned you about, we'll figure out a way, and I'll pay for any damages. Everybody else, don't answer any messages from White Avenger until I find out about this.

Keaonite just IM'ed me and said she can't get into BB at all because the page doesn't load.

Sounds like she should run a virus scan on her computer.

That's something different than what's happening to me. Has she tried cleaning her cache and cookies then logging in again?
But yeah Virus, or spyware, that's a possibility.

I got an alert from one of our em's that my anti virus system (AVG) had identified and isolated a Trojan Horse Virus. I warned her about it, but she said that she scanned for viruses every day. Should I stop posting here until we know for sure, because I don't want to screw up anybody's computer.
Edit:
well, can someone please contact Miss k and tell her about this if she can't see my post? If I've ruined her computer, I'll get her some way of sending me a bill for any damages I might have caused.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it if it's just posting you're worried about White Avenger. If there was malware that could post itself to other people's web pages just by posting a message it would be front page news. You'd hear about it. The blogosphere would be crazy with talk of it. If you sent her something though, or possibly linked her to a malicious website, or download that would be another story.
If you'd like to check if you're anti-virus got everything in it's cleaning process you can try double-checking with an online scanner such as this one.
Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan - Trend Micro USA (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/)
Another good thing to do is Google the name of the Trojan, that way you have a better idea of what you're dealing with. Sometimes the anti-virus vendors will have special little programs for dealing with that particular trojan, and they will be a free download.

Well it's finally back up for me today. Gosh, the pages took forever to load. All the other net pages were great and ran like normal. Only this one and after-darkness wouldn't hardly load for me. If it did it took an hour a page.
Today, fine. Thankfully. But I was right mad!!!!! Grrrr arrgh.
I'm over it now.

I'm starting to have a hunch about this one. Keaonite, Tabula Rasa, White Avenger, could you answer me some questions.
Do you use a browser other than IE?
Do you use multiple tabs, or windows?
Do you have a relatively slow internet connection - cable lite, DSL lite, Dialup?
Is there a time when it's more likely do lag, or die? For example, when you're editing a post.

N4H, this has never happened to me before and it was only with BB and AD.
I use IE and FF and NS if I am desperate.
I use multiple tabs on some things, not with BB tho because it stays up on my computer all day and I hate having tabs on it.
I have cable internet, very fast connection which I pay a bloody fortune to have the fastest they have.
It happened from the moment I woke up, 12pm lol...till when I went to bed 1:30am.

Does the loading lag happen on all those browsers? Do you use multiple tabs when you browse the site, then close them to idle on one?
This is a great mystery, don't you think? We have to isolate the clues.
Here's what I think I've got so far. It's only happening to some of us. It appears specific to BB, and sometimes AD. It can start as a slow load, but degenerate to an inability to load the site at all.

Your last bit is correct.
It happens on all browsers. And nope to multi tabs on the bb.

10 Mozilla Firefox
2) No Multiple tabs
3) DSL
4) No
I have noticed that mine tends to lag around 11 to 3PM EST, and when it does lag, i can stop the sing on, then repeat quickli dan sign on os almost instantaneous.

It keeps reminding me of what happens when something else is trying to load in priority to what I want to see.
I remember one time somebody was using an animated banner, and it was a similar feeling, but this doesn't necessarily happen on a page with a banner. It can happen on the home page. Nevertheless, it feels like something else is trying to load in the background, and it's blocking the main loading of the page. So, I don't know, maybe time of day is important. You're estimate of time of day feels familiar.

I use IE, I do often use tabs but it has never cuased me problems before, I have broadband which is normally very fast, occasionally the connection can lag or die when posting of refreshing.

Hmmm, well that all blows my previous theories out of water then. What about security apps? Do we all use something other than just a firewall, and an anti-virus? Does anybody else notice the common time of day for the lags that me and White Avenger notice?
I thought maybe what if some program common to us 4 was updating at that time. The install part might cause slowdowns, or conflicts of some sort, but that wouldn't explain why it only happens on the 2 sites.
Edit
OK, so that was interesting. I just had one. I had to close the window, and come back.

As I said, any lag problems I have are between 11am and 3pm, which would correspond to around lunch time and a little after n the US, so maybe that's why mine is slow then. Any other time, sign on is only a matter of a few seconds.

There are no specific times it just happens sometimes

I'm just gonna hop in here and say that this hasn't happened to me too recently but it has happened to me before. If you want to know I have Qwest.

no specific time for me, and again, just the one day it happened, on both sites. But only those. Norton is what I run, but that's all.

I'm also having this issue.. I just assumed it was because there's a lot happening on here.. lot of bandwidth or something. Doesn't happen all the time.. but more often lately. It occasionally times out sending PMs or just clicking on a link to a thread.
I run McAfee. I might run a scan see if it helps.. I also use Firefox
