Whenever I watch this episode, one thing always sticks out in my mind. The horrible way the actors convulse as the demon leaves their body and burrows into another. It just makes me sick to my stomach! :)

I have always felt that Angel was a little slow to get off the ground. This is not one my favorite episodes. I was shocked to learn that the cute blonde girl at the bar was actually a cop. We all know that cop involvement in the storylines really don't work out to well, so I was excited to see how this played out. I did like Detective Lockely.

Lonely Hearts (http://www.stage6.com/user/DevilLady/video/1748644/2-Lonely-Hearts)

I liked the first one alone more than the second one. City of introduced the characters and had a good story behind it, This one I did like, just not as much. Doyle trying to get Angel to go out in the very beginning was funny and of course Doyle then gets a vision and they go out. Plus the running cards joke lol. It's an Angel! Always loved it. The story for this episode I didn't love. The monster/demon was weird... and what it was doing .. weirder. The introduction of Kate was okay.. I did like how she wouldn't trust him. But the main thing I loved was the Doyle/Cordy scenes. Actually.. any Doyle scenes. haha and when angel says to the guy "Seriously I wasn't hitting on you" :silly: The ending to the whole monster wasn't a favorite of mine, but it didn't suck. And didn'tit looked like Angel was walking in the daylight in one of the scenes?... But I did somewhat like this episode. How can I not like an episode Doyle is in?

1.02 "Lonely Hearts"

An okay episode with a mediocre plot but great character interactions.

We open up on lonely, sad Angel. And Doyle walks in and is being kick ass again. I like that the three of them made a business and that Doyle has a secret crush on Cordelia, but the whole, “We need to have a night life!” thing is really stupid and annoying, in my opinion. The calling cards rule, and the whole guessing game with it is hilarious.

Doyle’s vision is a joke. I mean, this is the “something’s gonna happen” thing? Much worse has happened in Angel and Buffy. And we see this nice guy flirting with this young girl. How imaginative.

Roll the awesome ZOMGFDkKjd credits.

First, let me say I really enjoy this bar set. And the conversation between the two people is really forced. I just…ugh! Now, enter the Angel gang. And, now it gets interesting. And Cordelia, again, rules. Her passing out her calling cards is the highlight of the episode, probably. Hilarious. Doyle and Cordelia bickering is TV gold, and I love them two. Kate is a great character, and Angel asking if she needs rescuing is great, and I love Kate. Everything about her. Her attitude and wittiness. Great. You immediately jump into her character, how she can’t trust anyone. How she is a perfectionist. And we have more insight on what these visions are. Well, no, actually, we don’t. My bad. And Kate/Angel connection is great. I could watch them all night.

And a fight! Doyle’s love for Cordelia is awesome. Nicely choreographed, but a little out of nowhere. And I feel bad for Kate, because she thought he was hitting on her. Poor Kate!

This is going nowhere, is it? We get a glimpse at our MOTW at 17 minutes, and let me say, not worth the wait. I don’t really like the whole bar thing, and people looking into it. Boooooooring.

And back to the bar, once more. And thank god for Kate. If not for her, we might all go to hell. And Angel telling Kate to stay out was horrible. And, I gotta say, I still love Kate. And we have a killer back. Boring.

Go Cordelia and Doyle! I love their chemistry and their hilarious together. Love ‘em. More Kate! YAY!

Pretty disgusting villain thing, but….okaaaaaaaay. And finally, the face off. Really nice fight with some great shots. And Kate walks in! Yes, we have Angel in a room with a dead body. I love Kate trying to arrest Angel! And Angel jumping out of the window. Amazing shot, one of my favorites. Beautiful.

I love Cordelia’s apartment and everyone mocking it. Enough said. And the demon is the Burrower, which means shapeshifter. Oh, and did I tell you how many times this has been done? And how they never explain it. But awesome use of “Touched” by VAST. Amazing song choice. And Kate searching for Angel during the montage is great. I love Kate. And Cordy and Doyle sleeping together! Aww! Lol!

Kate and Angel meeting is great. Of course, the Burrower guy wants to kill Kate. What my luck…so sad. And the Burrower is trying to get into Kate? How? Did they have sex with her clothes on? What? What is going on? PLOT HOLE. Can I explain how much I love Kate and Angel? They’re amazing! Nicely choreographed fight, once more. And how hot is Kate shooting the Burrower dead? Okay, sorry. Had to add that. And back to Angel brooding. No, wait! Is that a smile? *gasp*

Overall: Eh. I am telling you, I am very iffy about this episode. The MOTW is horrible, imo. Not original and poorly executed. Like, why does fire kill it? Why can’t it stay in the body? Never explained that! The most important detail. On the other side, Cordelia, Doyle, and Kate are fabulous. Kate is a fantastic new character that pulled me into her story, and I love her so much. Cordy/Doyle have amazing chemistry and I love their witty banter. Also, you gotta give it props for using “Touched” by VAST, a fantastic song.Unfortunately, it got slow it parts and didn’t move forward sometimes. So, I give it a 7 without “Touched”. With “Touched”, I give it a 7.5.

7.5

Quotes:

Cordelia: Hi. You look troubled, or that may be your lazy eye. In any case, call us.

Angel: Seriously, I wasn’t hitting on you.

Kate: I prefer those cool bars that are hard to get into. Unfortunately, I can’t get into them.

Kate: What do you for a living?

Angel: Me? Well, um, ya know, I sa – I’m a veterinarian.

Doyle: Violence is not gonna solve a thing. (punch) On the other hand, it’s rather festive!

Cordelia: A couple hundred years ago, all you had to worry about was a hangover. Today, because of your curse thingy, you can’t sleep with anyone, or else you might get that moment of true happiness, lose your soul, get evil, again, and kill everyone.

Angel: Thanks Cordelia. I always enjoy your perspective.

Kate: I’m gonna go wherever I want. And you can do to hell.

Angel: Been there, done that.

(Angel hands Kate the calling card)

Kate: What is this? A lobster?
