Season 7, The "Speechifying" Season

Just about everybody made some kind of speech or monologue during this season. What are your favorites? My two favorites are both by Spike (big surprise there). The "You Sad Traitors" speech and his "You're The One," speech. What're yours?

Mine are both by Buffy...her 'I Killed Angel' speech in 'Selfless' I had been waiting 4 years for that. Im pretty sure I could recite it...very very sad!

Also her 'Are you ready to be strong speech' in Chosen.

Xanders speech to Dawn, I get tears welling up everytime! No matter how much I dislike Dawn.

I love Spikes speech to Buffy in 'Touched' (as said above) and Buffy's 'Chosen' speech.

Buffy's Chosen speech for sure. And Spike's Touched speech.

Meanwhile, I loved Andrew in Storyteller, talking into the camera during one of Buffy's speeches....too funny.

i loved all the speeches in this season, there wasn't one that i thought was redundant. but my faves are:

Xander's speech to Dawn in 'Potential'

Spike's traitors speech in 'Touched'

Spike's speech to Buffy in 'Touched'

Anya's speech to Andrew in, i think it was 'End of Days' when she tells him why she's fighting.

Andrew's speech to the camera in 'Storyteller'

Buffy/Andrew's speech in the basement in 'Storyteller'

Buffy's 'Are you ready to be strong?' speech in 'Chosen'

but my favorite has got to be Buffy's 'we just became an army' speech in 'Bring on the Night'. it still gives me goosebumps, even reading it!

There were so many great speeches in this season that it's really hard to pick a favorite. The inital two that I consider to my toppity ones are Xander's speech to Dawn at the end of Potential- that ALWAYS gets me teary eyed. Always. And Buffy's speech at the end of Bring on the Night. Like Lyri said- it's goosebump creating.

I don't remember which episode it was, but I liked the one where Buffy says "There's just one thing in the world that's stronger than the First - and that's us". She was so beaten up when she held that speech, and everyone was demoralized...oh it was just so great

Yeah - the 'we just became an army" speech rocks. i think that's my fav because she's so beaten and brused and the ubervamp had her on toast and she really has no idea how to fight The First but she doesn't give up and she is Courage where the others are fear. I also love's Spike's toughed speech - that's just awesome.

Xander's to Dawn. It's really moving and had touched me on many ways, maybe because it's the one closer to my life.

I was typing out this long answer but then I realised that I was pretty much saying exactly the same as you! These are my favorites also :)

I personally really liked the mini speech that the guy from the watchers council gives (I know I should know this but its early and I cant remember!), I got so excited, thinking that the watchers council were going to be really involved and then 'bang' up they go.

All the other speeches are great also but the watchers council one is quite exciting and out of the blue!

I thought they were rather pretentious; I did like the First's speech in "Lessons" though.

After an episode or two I was getting quite bored by those speeches, all the time. That's why Andrew mocking Buffy's speech made me laugh so bad. But of course there were some speeches that were good, like (obviously) Spike to Buffy, Xander to Dawn. I think those were the best, because even though they were speeches, they were not really speeches. The "we have just become an army"-one was also good, but Buffy's speeches really make me feel like I'm in lecture. :p

I like that one as well! It's from part of a famous speech, if I remember correctly.

That and Spike's speech to Buffy during "Touched". Oh so very beautiful.

And Xander to Dawn! I abosolutely loathed her this season but this speech made me smile.

i think that, in my own opinion, the xander-dawn speech, and spuffy speech from touched, are the best. i think the majority opinion certainly backs up that awesomeness. i do have to second scobro's mention of the speech in lessons, though. it was a good speech, we got to see all our favourite season villains return, it set up the whole 'the first can turn into all the dead people' thing, and it was awesome how even though it was really just the first, they were all in character :). the general buffy speeches to the potentials did get old fast, though. notice how none of those are ones i mentioned :p.

hehe, i was only thinking of anything post-potentials arrival. i forgot to add pretty much any speech in 'selfless'! love them, the longish and the shorter. especially that last one between xander and anya :cry:.

Agree with you on all points, The only one I liked in "Selfless" was the Xander and Anya interaction, though. And the entire villains sequence at the end of "Lessons" makes it uberly cooler.
