So...I finally got to this episode today and have to say, I loved it! It was great! Even though I don't think SMG is a very good singer, it was still really entertaining. I was glad that she finally told everyone that they brought her back from heaven, so they could understand a little what she was going through. And loved the Spike/Buffy kissing at the end. I was feeling so bad for Spike, you knew she just wanted to kiss the guy!(vampire)!

Definitely one of the best episodes ever. And I know SMG isn't that fab at singing but she can carry a tune and we're generally distracted by the wonderfulnes of Tony Head and Amber Benson's voice and well, the general fun of the episode.
I think SMG originally wanted her voice dubbed but when she read the lyrics and saw how important they were to her character, Buffy, she said that she didn't want anyone else singing them but her. Which I thought was very nice and professionalish, hehe :)

Where can you download the songs? My favorite one was Spike's "Rest in Peace", but they were all really good. Loved that the demon just left because he didn't want Xander as his bride LOL

Once more with feeling...love it! :D It was the second episode I saw, and my friend had already given me the soundtrack about 6 months before I ever watched Buffy so I already knew all the songs (Random, I know). I've literally seen this episode more than a hundred times (I used to count, but I stopped when it reached 100 :p) and I love this episode. I don't think any of the cast have a really bad voice ('Cept maybe Aly but I still love her :p)

Aly doesn't really have a bad voice, either, but she definitely has some trouble staying on key. She sang one song in "Date Movie" and did much better, so a lot of her problem in OMWF probably had to do with her being self-conscious about not really being much of a singer. I remember reading that she asked Joss not to write anything for her because of it. Nerves will kill you on stage. I've never had that problem, myself, but, man, have I ever seen singers who do; I've gotten stuck a couple of times backing singers who had to get half lit in order to get in front of the mic - which just makes things worse, 'cause now you got a nervous drunk up there...

Don't you, guys, just love it when Buffy stabbs that demon at the cemetery?
"She's not even half the girl she's.. ah.." :)
That's was nice comic relief.
"Rest in Peace" is my most favorite song, but I also adore "What You Feel" - I even consider Sweet to be one of the most appealing 'bads' in the series. :)

I rewatched this episode a week ago and discovered that Willow actually DO sing.

But I have a question: how did Xander summon the demon??

I rewatched this episode a week ago and discovered that Willow actually DO sing.

But I have a question: how did Xander summon the demon??

Hm, I got that as he found that amulet Dawn "picked up" later, maybe he was urning it in hand looking at it closely, or, wait, he confessed he wanted to cheer up "the place" - he said something like "dance, song, wouldn't hurt anyone" - so maybe he was browsing through some book of magic looking for seminude pics ;) or even helping others in research when he came across that Summoning Sweet spell.
So he found that amulet among other goods in the Magic Box and just resited it and voila thus he "doomed that town"...

I rewatched it today - I just love it! Oh, I'd like to Experience such adventure! Does anyone know where Xander put that book of spells?

I would not like to be forced to convey my most innermost feelings and secrets in song and dance, thank you. Please don't do that spell.

Be glad you're on the separate continent from me.. :) You won't be affected.
Also, as Sweet sang: "..and doomed this town"... now, you're even more safe..

Ah, still... I watch too often and too much "OMWF" if...

OMWF is one of my favourite episodes. I have watched it many more times than any other. I'm so glad that Joss got an idea to do a musical!

Yes, OMWF was definately one of my favourite episodes! It's brilliant. True, Sarah isn't a great singers but I don't reckon she's bad. I couldn't even say that Ally is a bad singer. But I loved James', Amber's and Tony's singing. They're all fantastic.

I think I would have watched Once More With Feeling more than any other episode. I liked 'Rest in Peace' most, but I loved all the songs. Oh, and I thought Anya's 'Bunnies!' was great too! Very funny.

Once More With The Feeling, is definitly one of the best episodes, have to admit when the episode started off and Buffy began to sing, I had to say to myself... ' Whaaat the?'.

Fav song has to be either ' standing in the way' ( just because woow what a good voice )
or Xander and Anya's ' Il never tell', very funny must say..

Have got all of them on my ipod, they make the bus journey home seem so much more.. cant think of a word :P ..
only song I cant seem to find is ' standing in the way' typically my fav :(

Probably the best episode ever! Sweet is such an underrated villain. He's cool-looking, a good actor, and a great singer (then again, he was hired because he could do all of those things...) Sarah's voice wasn't great, I agree, but then again, she's not a singer, so you can't make your expectations for her TOO high. Besides, her acting ability certainly makes up for it.

My favorite song had to be "Standing/Wish I Could Stay", just because Tony and Amber are both incredible singers, and the combination of their voices is so great. James is a great singer, too, but at times, he sounds like he's just trying as hard as he can to sound like Kurt Cobain (and, as a Nirvana fan, I have to say, he'll never match up to him.) Still love him, though! And I didn't think Aly was that bad. I mean, sure, I can see why she wouldn't want long solos or anything like that, but there's certainly been worse!

I wish Angel had been there so he could kill the mood whenever he starts singing. But it'd probably be weird for him to sing anything but Barry Manilow.

I'd like to see The Trio in this episode. It would be great to see what would they be singing about:biggrin:

he did, but when I originally saw the ep, I thought he was just covering for Dawn.

And I never thought of it! This could be the truth, couldn't it? (and this would give some ideas to the Dander shippers :D).

It seemed weird to me that we know nothing about how to summon this demon, and even about how to kill him. Usually we know all of this. Here we only have Xander saying I did it... Hence my question. Apparently, it has to remain a mystery...

I loved this episode as well... the group songs were awesome...Especially walk threw the fire... Some of the lyrics were hilarious! I really loves tara and Giles duet together.. Spikes songs were pretty funny but I thought he was a little off key sometimes?? Dawn had a lovely voice!

I love this ep and for some reason it always ends up on the tv when I am drunk! I tend to like singing and dancing with it. Pretty much all of my friends and family has been forced to watch it. My mate came over tonight (not a buffy fan) and actually requested to watch it! I just about fell over myself putting it in the DVD player :D
I love the fact that I can sit down with a non buffy fan and ask "so what would you like to watch? I have drama, comedy and even a musical!"
Yes I can safely say I love this episode! One of my faves for sure ;)

I love OMWF - such a poigant eppy.

SMG doesn't have a horrible voice; she sings as well as anyone who doesn't "sing" for a living. AH tho... she didn't want to sing because let's face it... CAN'T. Heh.

Buffy admits she was in heaven & it was hell for her to be back. The look on Willow's face when Buffy sings "I think I was in heaven"... chilling! Because Willow was so sure that Buffy was in a hell-dimension, being tortured. My question is WHY? Why would Willow or Xander or any of them think that Buffy went to hell? She was GOOD. Why would she go to hell? None of them ever seemed to consider that MAYBE she was in heaven. It was just all about hell. Hell, hell, hell.

(Getting back on track here...) I loved Sweet - he was a *good* demon! I loved his look, his singing/dancing... loved the number with Dawn. Very enjoyable.

And Spike... "Rest in Peace"... omg... I was listening to that driving into work this morning... I like James' voice. And the part where he says "You know you got a willing slave..." I just melt every single time.

Xander & Anya's number was so entertaining... love Anya's lines "his penis got diseases from a shumash tribe" and "will I get so old & wrinkley that I look like David Brinkley" - heh.

Other than R.I.P., my favorite songs are Going Thru the Motions & Walk Thru the Fire. Truly, there wasn't one single thing about OMWF that I didn't totally love. It was a terrific eppy, lots of action, good entertainment, wonderful story - and for those who don't have the DVD & have never seen the special features - you have SO got to buy or borrow it from somebody! Five stars! :D

its so funny, i always assume every buffy fan loves OMWF... .but my brother's girlfriend is a huge buffy fan, and she said she couldn't even finish the episode because she hates musicals and she really wasn't getting into it. I was shocked! haha guess my theory was wrong.

I wasn't too thrilled about the episode either. Many people say that it is one of their favorite Buffy episodes. It was good, with just enough talent to overshadow the not-so-talented and a brilliant idea in that there are some things that just can't be explained in words, and that's where musicals come from. Some things HAVE to be told in song!! Of course, my favorite song was "Under your Spell" between Tara and Willow...or rather, Tara to Willow!! Not my favorite episode, and I probably wouldn't go straight to that episode if I just sat down to watch a few, but it was really enjoyable with lyrics to continue the story. A VERY ineresting change for TV shows though...you don't see the cast of Friends breaking out into song!!

I liked the song Under Your Spell, but it's kinda scary too. The song has a darker meaning than people think it has, because Tara is literally under Willows spell.

Great episode. One of my favs. One of the reasons I love it so much is that for the entire episode, the characters were trying to stop the music. Life had actually turned into a musical, and everyone thought, "wtf is going on?! We must stop this!" I know a lot of people I know say "Wouldn't it be great if life were a musical?" And I think back to the episode and say "For a while..." So I like that it offers a reason why it wouldn't be such a good time for people to be randomly be breaking into song, since so many people think it would be grand. Plus, that just adds humor to the episode.
