Buffy and Romance (Spoiler for Issue 12)

Okay, now that the cat's out of the bag about Buffy and Satsu, how many folks think that it will be:

1) A one night stand

2) Another of Buffy's "I can't love you, but I'll shag you just to forget" plans

3) The beginning of a long term mutually satisfying but non-loving relationship

4) The "real thing" for Buffy at long last

5) A death sentence for Satsu

6) A glimmer of hope for the Buffy/Faith shippers

7) A bad idea that can only lead to disaster

or

8) I really don't care one way or the other.


I tend to lean toward either 3 or 4. It's about time Buffy found somebody that she can care for who stands at least a better than average chance of being accepted by her friends (though Giles may just polish a hole right through his glasses!)

1) 'Cause obviously, Buffy doesn't think she's gay. And given the awkwardness that followed the encouter, I don't think they'll repeat it any time soon.
3) But they might at a later date, once or twice.
4) There's even a small chance that Buffy's gonna turn gay on us.
5) If it weren't for Satsu dieing.

Well the fact that Joss said it was just something that happened, and Buffy isn't even going through a gay-phase, I would go with option one, but I think that Buffy and Satsu will have a close friendship (with no benefits!) in the future.

I'm not really bothered either way though, I just go with the flow :)

It doesn't bother me at all. Some people are curious when it comes to "gay sex" and that where I see Buffy. Not gay, or bi, but curious.
As for Satsu, I think her days are numbered.

I must be the only one annoyed by this. I have not read my comic yet but grrr. I just don't see Buffy doing this. I am all for the gayness, trust me. But I just can't help it. Real life Buffy would not have ever been with a girl, atleast I don't think, so why is cartoon Buffy?

TabulaRasa, I had my doubts when I first heard the news too, but the ways it's written in the comics, is really believable. And like Joss said, she isn't going to turn gay on us, but she's just open-minded and lonely... which is a lethal combination ;)

i'm going with one night stand that will lead to a close friendship, and then Satsu's tragic, but expected, death. the teaser for issue #15 is making me think Satsu's gonna go bye-bye.

Yeah but how exactly do you know what Buffy would do? I mean I don't wanna sound rude but all those people saying Buffy wouldn't do this, I mean I'm pretty sure Joss Whedon, the person that created Buffy and all the other characters would know more about what these characters would do before we would, as their his creation. So sure we may not have had Buffy had sex with Satsu, but we're not Joss.

Cos joss has pretty much said some awkwardness will follow and 5) because Buffy warned the girl that it was a dangerous business to love her.

Are you sure Satsu will die? I mean, I haven't read the comic, only the spoilers so I'm clueless but to me it doesn't seem likely that Joss would kill off another Lesbian character. I remember when Tara died how upset fans were ans saying stuff about how that was so lesbian cliché so why would he do that again?

I'm not sure if the Buffyverse should become a place where lesbians become immortal as a result of the pressures of political correctness either.

How about this then? Satsu gives up on Buffy. She runs off with Kennedy.

Still I haven't grown to love the new characters introduced in the comic so I don't love them... but I don't want Satsu to die because she got together with Buffy...

I opened it up and was "Wow" Love that she was open to it. lol And they were so cute together when they were talking about it in bed.

But after such an eye opening, beautiful experience *bang* everyone see's em and now Buffy must feel so horrible and upset and might never do anything like this again. :cry:

Would have loved to see this on t.v. though :/ Would like to see everything on t.v. instead of comics but that isn't a different topic :p

Got to say I enjoyed the issue, but it still just doesn't sit right with me. But I'm still interested to see where it's going.

Buffy seems so different to when we left off that it's jarring to some of us. Not just that she's willing to experiment, but also doing other stuff like robbing banks, willing to kill people possibly.. and I just don't get her like I used to. In that way I can see where Willow is coming from, apart from blaming Buffy for Tara's death.

Also don't see Satsu dying, but don't see her in a relationship with Buffy either after what Joss and Allie have said. And thank goddess because I wouldn't really buy that either at this point. I never really felt the so called 'tension' between Buffy and Faith.. at least not from Buffy's side.

The whole thing might just work out better since everybody knows, though. If there are any more developments in the Satsu/Buffy relationship, at least they won't have to be so sneaky about it, and since this current arc seems headed for Japan, the likelihood for repeat performances are better than even, what with Buffy and Satsu probably spending a lot more time together, probably a lot of it alone one way or the other.

As for the gang, who's gonna object? Certainly not Willow, and most likely not Xander. He would probably be quite understanding since his tirade in Season 7 (remember, "Okay, that's it! I'm going gay. C'mon, Willow, Gay me up. Let's gay,"?) Giles isn't around anymore, and Andrew...well, he's Andrew. That says it all.

I havn't read any of the comics yet. They arn't out for sale (yet) here in Holland. But the idea of Buffy sleeping with a woman doesn't bother me at all.. All that bothers me about it is that it is this girl and not Faith (a).. I'm a huge fuffy shipper (I hope no one has problems with this, if they have just say so and i wont talk about it again).

Okay so while I was reading this I was just thinking WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON! But then I thought about for a while and I kind of get that Buffy is lonely and needs someone and since she knew that Satsu had feelings for her she went for it, but I feel kind of bad for Satsu. Am I the only one? Because I mean I don't think that Joss suddenly turned Buffy gay after seven seasons, but she still slept with Satsu. I think that Buffy took advantage of Satsu's feelings and I think Satsu is going to get hurt if not physically emotionally. And to answer the question I would have to go with number one because I don't see this happening again anytime soon.

I think it will turn out to be a one night stand but i'm praying for a long term relationship.

I really like satsu and looking back at buffy's lovers satsu seems like the most suited to me.

I'm not really sure about this, I mean I don't want Buffy to go gay for the storyline after so many years of being the straight gal.

But then again this has the potential to be a much better relationship for her than her previous ones, Satsu loves her and that goes a long way to being a good base of emotional support and security. Something shes been lacking all this time having to carry the burden of being the leader.

Twilight made a point of trying to take her moral certainty from her, if anything I see Satsu bringing her more confidence in herself and her role.

I'll wait and see how this plays out, but right now I'm hoping Satsu sticks around and this storyline does go somewhere.

Certainly not. In one sense, the "bedroom invasion" sequence is funny as hell, but looking at it in depth, it's downright painful. I mean, Satsu has kept her feelings hidden for however long she's been with Buffy's team, and obviously had no intention of letting even Buffy know, and now here in one fell swoop, everybody knows. Not to mention being caught at the worst possible time. Her first night with the person she loves, someone who's already not sure if there could ever be a real relationship between the two of them, but who's not completely turned off by the thought, either, and then the entire circus shows up in their bedroom. ouch... If she turns out to be the traitor/mole/whatever, she'll be the most sympathetic one I've ever seen.

I am just hoping Buffy's theory isn't true... That anyone that loves her dies or goes away. I like Satsu and I want to see how these turn of events play out, even if they never 'get together', it'd be interesting to see their relationship grow, or even fall apart. I dunno, I just don't want them to get rid of Satsu lol
