View Full Version : Who's on the #5 regular cover?

We've had discussions about the mystery person on the variant cover for this issue. As well as the mystery person on the #6/7 cover. But only just now did I realise we don't know who is on the regular cover for #5. I've always assumed that it was Angel and Spike. But I just noticed that the guy Spike is fighting has a vamp face... so it can't be Angel. Who is he?

One of "Team Gunn" maybe?

Maybe Angelus, i reckon he's been seperated from Angel and is gonna turn into Twilight

"Allycat agrees: I doubt it; Brian Lynch has said on several occasions, that A:AtF and Bs8 won't cross-over."

Aslong as the Angel part takes place after After The Fall has finished, it wouldn't be a crossover, would it?

I'll repeat his quotes from the thread about #16.

I can't wait for the crossover but I swear up and down the ANGEL stuff has nothing to do with it whatsoever. That said, the cover in Wizard, with Buffy and Fray, is AWESOME.

I truly don't want to disappoint you, I'm telling you it has nothing to do with it. ANGEL:AFTER THE FALL is very self-contained, it doesn't bleed over into the BUFFY comic and vice-versa. I am not trying to deceive or surprise here, I am just trying to ensure you guys don't get your hopes up.

I take especially the underlined bit to mean that Buffy Season 8 and Angel: After the Fall are not going to be connected in any way.

I think it's Angel, absolutely.

I think its Angel too, just frowning really hard.
I hope he and Spike aren't fighting...

Yeah their not in vamp face, and it would make sense if Spike was chosen to fight Ange in the last issue?

Hope I'm not guessing the end of #5.. something like a cliffhanger where Spike is about to kill Angel.
Although I'm pretty sure someone will be about to end him at the end of #5.. keep us wondering for a while.

Owh! maybe it ends with them finding out Gunn is a vampire?
And I think the cover is cool... just wondering why they're upside down.

Brian confirmed yesterday that it's Angel, and had a nice little reason for why Spike's wearing white

I read it too, sorry for confusing anyone.

Brian also said that the Angel/Spike cover is only a 'retail incentive' cover and that they haven't released any pictures of the actual alternative cover because it has a huge spoiler on it.

who do you think it could be?

It could be a lot of people, but I'm placing a bet on Cordelia. Others might be cool to see (ehh, maybe) but if the spoiler is "huge", and not anti-climatic, the only person that can deliver the goods (a place in the story, power and influence, relevance, etc.) is Cordy.

Hhmmm.....(craning my head upside down) I'm not fond of that cover but it looks like Angel, I don't see any pointy teeth and it looks like his eyebrows are just really scrunched up in anger mode.

Or Fred.

That would certainly shake things up quite a bit. We know that there were some plans for Season 6 to bring in Willow to somehow seperate Illyria and Fred. Maybe that story's coming back in a different way.

yeah the 'huge' element would suggest that it has to be someone very important to Angel and that could only be Cordelia ..... or B-
but i'm not crazy enough to predict that:)

I was under the impression that the idea was to further explore Illyria giving in emotions, finding out that Fred is still somewhere inside, and they would make it so that Illyria and Fred would have a hive mind, be one being.

But if it is Fred- then what? What is she going to do in hell? Wesley is dead, W&H is destroyed, along with their resources- she'd have no power or sway.

You guys have seen both covers released by IDW for issue 5. One is inspired by Kevin Maguire's fantastic JUSTICE LEAGUE covers, and one features Angel and Spike grappling. The JUSTICE LEAGUE cover (heretofore known as COVER A) features our favorite ANGEL:ATF characters, while the grappling cover (COVER B) has Angel clad in black, and Spike clad in all white.

People were wondering the identity of that handsome man (alternate Wesley? Lyndsey? Groo?) and also why Spike is in all white (is HE the good guy and Angel is the bad guy? Is it a SPY VS SPY homage?).

also from Brian's Blog:

I don't feel as bad about this cover being different, though. Why? Because Spike in white and Angel in black is a great cover image (yin and yang) but also...

...because "Cover B" is a retailer incentive. Yeah, we never showed everyone the actual second cover. It's got a big old spoiler on the cover that will blow your minds.

How's that for a tease?

I was thinking some more about this, Drusilla would be all kinds of cool.
