Nooo, I don't think they would do that. I mean, unless he is under a spell of course. That way it would hardly be his fault. That would equal forgiveness from his friends, and us fans.

Xander being under some sort of spell would be the only way he could be the traitor. Otherwise, I think quite a few fans would be PO'ed.

AS for Buffy and Willow becoming lovers, I'm tired of this theory already. It's not gonna happen.

I agree. It would never ever happen. Willow doesn't feel that way about Buffy and Buffy (despite her recent tryst) is not gay. Xander even stated firmly in The Gift 'I know Will's been through a lot of changes recently, but [she doesn't] feel that way about Buffy'.

If anything I see Buffy and Xander ending up getting together throughout Season Eight. I never even thought of Buffy and Willow getting together, I don't even like the thought.

And just to add to the whole willow doesnt love you that way i doubt they end up together too because she has said she loves kennedy.

I cannot even begin to imagine Xander betraying Buffy, its just not in his nature. The only way this is possible is if (like a couple of you said) he's under a spell, where he can then be held accountable for his actions.

And as for Will and Buffy. That's never gonna happen either. They're (along with Xander) family now, and don't and have never thought of each other in that way. If it did, I'm sure most people would just go 'ick'.

This is the main reason I think Satsu will be the traitor. Buffy never has had luck with anyone she dated slash boink

The only thing I'm afraid of is that the Age of Magic will end either in Season 8 or 9 and that sort of means the end of the Buffyverse, in that there are no more stories possible with our favourite characters, since their are no more supernatural foes to battle.

But that would lead into "Fray" right?
Is it considered canon? I've only read the first 2 issues, and that was when it first came out.

Yes, it's canon. But it's never said that it's actually Buffy that ends the Age of Magic. It's some Slayer in the 21st century. I'm hoping that that's gonna mean 2099... that means more stories for us in the time in between.

It was heavily hinted in Fray that Buffy was the one to end it all, and that the mystical assistance was the Guardians handing her the Scythe that created the Slayer Army.

Joss had another two seasons planned out during Season 7 and those are now the basis of the comic Season 8 and 9 continuation, given how long its going to take to release them and the story being planned out, makes it likely Season 9 will be the final fight, and that Buffy will finally "win" and end the Demon infestation of Earth.

If the Slayer in question is handed her Scythe by the Guardians, it couldn't be Buffy, because she pulled HER Scythe out of the stone in the vineyard. The story on "Fray" must refer to another Slayer (and possibly a different Scythe, which would clear up the mystery of why Buffy's Scythe and Fray's aren't identical).

Of course, it wouldn't be the first time that Joss has changed his universe to suit his latest ongoing plot, now, would it?

Joss has stated on multiple occasions that they never had a Season 8 or 9 planned while working on the TV show. They always intended to end it at either 5 or 7. Both he and Sarah felt when they started Season 7, that it was time to wrap it up.

I don't think it was hinted at in Fray that the mystical help was the Guardians. I always took that to mean friends of the Slayer. In case of Buffy, that would mean Angel, Spike, Willow... etc.

The issue in question (3: Ready, Steady...) was published in August 2001, so it was written sometime during Season 5 of Buffy. Can anyone either confirm or deny that Joss at the time already knew how the seventh season was going to be concluded? (The activation of all the Slayers?)

Anyway, yes, it may be a long time before Season 9 finished. It might even be as much as ten years from now. But still, if the way it ends means that there can be no more Buffyverse stories told between that moment and the arrival of Fray, that would still be a pity. Just look at the Star Wars franchise. The first film came out over 30 years ago, and the franchise is still going strong. Granted, I don't think the Buffyverse can ever become quite as big as Star Wars is. I do believe that in ten years, there's still going to be a demand for more Buffy-stories.

Maybe more "Tales of the Slayers" type stories?

Well obviously, there's always more TotS or TotV and even Fray to be made. But it makes stories with our favourite characters set during this time period impossible.

There is such a thing as over doing it, most shows when they attempt to "keep going" like X-Files and Stargate, they took a nose dive in quality and became very stale.

I wouldn't like to see that happen to Buffy, in any show or universe there are only so many stories to tell, so many times she can 'fight the big bad' before it becomes tiresome.

Having a good solid story line pinned down for Season 8 and 9 and concluding the show then would be better, going out on a high with everything wrapped up rather than dragging it on forever.

I was in high school when the show started, I've been off to University, home again and ready to move out and the story is still going, I have two pregnant friends whose children will be half as old as I was when I started watching when Season 9 concludes. Thats a hell of a long time enough as it is.

True Allycat but being a Trek fan more than a Buffy fan I can tell you that I've become severely disinterested in Star Trek over the years due to it dragging on far too much and rehashing every single storyline it has repeatedly just to stay on the air that bit longer.

You said it. Seems like each crew has the "transporter accident episode" or the "crazy holodeck" episode, or the "all of the bridge officers are in a shuttle that crashes" episode.
That's why I like TOS better than the rest of the shows, except DS9, it's equal to TOS IMO.

Of course, every story that ever could be told has already been told, long before TV was ever invented; what makes them fresh is how the writers tell them. And ss frustrating as it is to have to wait a month between comics, that's a good side to having the story told this way: it takes far longer to tell a single story in a monthly comic than it does in a weekly hour-long TV series. Real Life, on the other hand? Second verse, same as the first...

A famous Sci Fi writer (I think it was Harlen Ellison...I know I misspelled it, so please forgive) once said that there are only 7 story lines in the whole world.
