Now, I LOVE season 8 so far...it's almost as good as having the TV show back. But there's one completely obscure thing that's been annoying the crap out of me ever since Willow came.
Why doesn't Willow just heal Xander's eye? Does he like having an eyepatch or something?

I think Xander thinks it makes him look cool. It'd be very Xander of him, lol.

Well, where is the eye? I imagine it's not exactly alive or heal-able right now, even if it is sitting in a jar somewhere. I mean, didn't Caleb pull it out and squish it? To fix it, I think that even Willow needs a relatively intact eye in a relatively quick timespan.

Other than destroying it, we don't know what Caleb did with it. He smushed his thumb into Xander's eye, which would have destroyed it, and the doctors probably took what was left of it out of the socket to prevent infection. Maybe Willow can't grow him a new one. And maybe the writers see it as a badge of courage and don't want to take it away, or don't want it to seem like injuries (like death) are easy to recover from in the Buffyverse.

Why would he want it back?
It makes him super cool, remember, he chose to wear an eyepatch in season 6!!!
He loves it, its attention and he loves the attention, especially as he can say he lost it fighting the biggest big bad ever.
It will get him laid.

Nick Brendon said in an interview basically the same thing that BotD has already said. Haha. He said if they ever did a post-season 7 movie that he didn't want them to get rid of the eye patch 'Let's not have Willow magically heal my eye. Let's keep the patch!' saying that he looks cool and to get rid of it would totally diminish the events of season 7 and plus, Xand's gotta get the chicas some way. Haha.
And I pretty much agree completely. And he does look very Nick Fury/007/Suave-Pirate-Guy. I mean, who doesn't think it's made Xander look just that little bit cooler? Hehe.

Something I just thought of that I don't quite understand, why is it that Willow can heal herself from being lobomimized through non magickal means, however she can't or won't heal Xander's eye. I mean it appears to be the same thing right

I did not even know this, I came up with my reasoning all on my own.
You know what this proves?
That I am right. In any other thread now, we can assume that I am right.

BotD didn't you already think that we should always assume you're right?
CharmedSlayer85, I think Willow being able to heal herself from or resisting being lobotomised was one of the most ridiculous parts of the Long Way Home. Still, just because she can do that, doesn't mean she can also heal Xander. Perhaps she has the power to heal him, but it might be dangerous. If she messed up, he might loose his vision altogether or worse. Maybe healing herself is less complicated cause she knows exactly what she's doing. She can feel it internally.
Willow was able to heal herself and the soldiers because all the physical matter was still there.
Xanders eye was completely deformed by Caleb, the remains would have been taken out during surgery at the hospital. Beyond a certain point of eye injury, the organ itself is cut out because they is no chance of restoring it. There was nothing left for Willow to heal in Season 8, just an empty socket.
The same with Vampires, for some reason throughout all Vampire fiction when they have a problem with their eyes it does not repair when becoming a Vampire, hence some of them still needing glasses or staying blind, they can't regrow eyes either.
Vampires without eyes though can take fresh ones from Humans and place them in their own head, the new eyes fusing and working for a few centuries before needing replaced.
So, if he really wanted he could take one from someone else, place in it and Willows healing ability would make *that* one attach perfectly and work, but that would just be gross.

Just because something happens in a lot of vampire fiction, doesn't mean that it necessarily happens in the Buffyverse too. Since we've never seen examples of this, we can't make any assumptions on whether it's possible.
It might be possible to insert somebody else's eye into Xander's socket though, like how Lindsey got his new hand on Angel.

And who knows maybe vampire eyes are like Spiderman, before Peter Parker was bitten by the radioactive Spider he needed to wear seeing glasses, however after he was bitten he now longer needed glasses as his vision became perfect. (Both in the movie and the comics) And I mean we've seen Buffy on air for 6 years (7 seasons) and we haven't seen not one vampire wearing any glasses so I guess it's safe to say that vampirism cures any human problems. (Of course they might not grow a new eye, but then again who knows)

We have seen a vampire with glasses. The vampire that worked for Drusilla and Spike. We saw him in What's My Line? and then in Surprise. Dalton I think his name was; he was like the anti-Giles

Oh yeah, well he doesn't count lol. He was like a weird vampire lol, he still had some semblance of a human soul, which is how The Judge was able to kill him.

Spike wore glasses when he was human. I think they were reading glasses.

Maybe it's kinda like how Willow can't bring Tara back from the dead... But then I realised Xander's loss of the eye wasn't exactly natural... But anyway, I think he looks cool also maybe no one in Buffyland even thought of Willow healing it, I know I didn't until I read this thread lol.
