The Birth - Part 1

The Beginning of Time...

After the Genesis of the Universe and the epic Wars of Creation between Christ and Lucifer, only one existence remained with enough power to banish the other and its forces to the realms of the nether world. The defeated and weakened Lucifer facing his punishment for efforts in opposing Christ now lay sentenced and damned to the everlasting pits of Hell, while in the aftermath Christ with his last remaining powers created the Heavens and the Earth before finally descending into oblivion.

Four thousand years had passed and in that time many planets had flourished into civilisations of power with many wondrous creations, but little did the habitants know that one day all their achievements would soon be put under enormous threat. For laying in wait beneath a small planet's surface was the incarcerated Lucifer, finally ready to take his revenge on Christ. After many years of facing the tortured exiles of Hell, Lucifer finally found ways to endure the immense suffering and on the 22nd hour of the 5124th day of the Planets - Septuagint Chron 11:26 - he created the Three Chosen Ones. These powerful creatures where chosen to lead Lucifer's legions of creatures into a sickening place of horrendous violence, uncontrollable destruction and supernatural forces beyond imagination. They were known as Overlords. Their one goal; to descend upon Earth and destroy all of mankind.

However, Lucifer's powers were still weak and for over five thousand years, the clandestine Overlords have been laying dormant in a distant nebula, slowly building their powers before at last finally awakening and going forth to their origin: Earth in preparation for the day of the rising. As the Overlords came ever closer to the planet and its fate, the Earth became increasingly distressed by their presence. Once known as a paradise of luscious green meadows, ripe fruits filled with the sweetest juices and glistening water fountains, now all but a hopeless fantastic dream of what had become a planet hugely stricken with poverty, violence and hatred. The faith of so many had been lost, and the rising of the Lord would soon be upon them.

Enter Earth: 2002 AD

Over the centuries of travelling, the Overlords became weak too and only one of Lucifer's bearers managed to survive the journey to Earth. The other two lay in the hands of time and fate, someday expecting the rebirth of their master and the final annihilation of Earth. It was obvious that time was drawing nearer and now in the 21st Century that day has finally come...

Meanwhile back on the planet's surface, a group of humans with unprecedented powers lay unknowingly in wait for what may soon be their ultimate challenge.

Sunnydale: The Beginning of the End...

"...So you gonna pass the snacks you brought out, or will I have to just use what's left of my Slayer strength to get them."

"Yes, erm, right, here you go Buffy," muttered Giles, passing the tray of delectably prepared cakes and biscuits, before wandering off toward the corner of the room and leaning uncomfortably against a slanted ledge along the wall. As for Buffy, Willow, Xander and Anya, all they could do was fill their faces with the food that lay before them, and after a relatively long battle with some vampires and a couple of Glory's henchmen, who could blame them. Giles appearing slightly distant in the corner just made do by watching over them, subtly wiping his glasses from time to time and taking what looked like deep mournful sighs of relief, while the noise of the food began to intensify. Willow, realising Giles was missing from the feast, began to look around, but instead of finding Giles reading his usual books, she found a towering shadowy figure in the corner watching them uneasily as the food began to be devoured again.

"Giles, why aren't you eating, someone hasn't died have they?" Willow asked humorously.

"No, no it's nothing like that."

"What's wrong Giles?" Willow asked more courteously.

"Yeah G-Man, didn't we kill enough evil guys for one night?" Xander added before taking comfort in Anya's arms.

"Oh, it's nothing, I'm just trying to remember where I last put my transcripts on the Vishnu and Tiberius Manifesto."

"Here they are, right underneath your colourful comics and 'A Hundred Ways To Please Your Demon Lover'," Xander exclaimed, jokingly relieved.

"Xander, are you trying to tell me something?" Anya broached.

"Xander, haven't you got a house to go to, maybe some cows to milk?" Giles whimsically added, in the hope of gaining some sort of respect out of the argument, but his gesture went unnoticed, as Anya decided to disrupt the silence,

"Hey, why don't we go back to ours for some wild crazy naked sex?"

Xander spluttered, regurgitating bits of his half-eaten chocolate croissant, and began to reach for Anya's hands in an attempt to move them back to her side of the couch, while at the same time trying to regain his breath, "Anya, haven't I told you already? Sex is a bad thing to be discussed among our friends."

Xander's eyes narrowed at Anya, as if they seemed to try and prevent a verbal squabbling, but after a few glaring looks, Anya's stare uncaringly advanced away as she noticed rather disturbing amounts of chocolate sauce around Xander's mouth.

"Why, doesn't anyone here like sex?"

"Hey, that's unfair or I mean I think it is... you mean intercourse right?" Willow exclaimed, confusingly, "It's just I'm still a bit shaky on my sexuality an' all, now do I have to use..." but before she could finish her sentence with the whole group staring, shocked, at her, Giles alarmed by the context of her confusion decided to intervene.

"Willow, I'm sure you can find references to your sexual issues elsewhere but right now we have much more pressing matters to discuss," Giles stated, as the rest of the group settled back into their seats.

Buffy looking somewhat subdued now towards the tray of confections, usually craving more than just a Hershey bar and Cream Catastrophe after a killing spree, suddenly decided to pause her furious eating for a minute as she agreeably added to Giles's concern.

"You're right Giles, I mean tonight was a real drag. I think Glory's getting majorily pissed about not...what's she doing again." Looking somewhat baffled now by her lack of understanding, Buffy swiftly backed away before taking another swirl in retreat.

"That's exactly why we need to concentrate more; you never know when she could strike next. I take you killed all of your opposition tonight?" Giles asked forcefully.

"Well if you're talking about beating the shit outta evil, then yeah, but are severe, and not to mention, very painful wounds are probably damaging the success factor at the moment," Xander adds in defence.

"Its just they seem to keep getting stronger, like there making it harder for us to find out what there planning. I could hardly keep up with them tonight," Buffy sighed.

"Plus the whole ratio of 8:6 was slightly higher than the average ratio we get of 1:6," Xander now feeling more facetious, sniggered.

"Three of them got away," Buffy explains. "But if it weren't for the rest of you guys, I'd have probably been vamp-food."

"Well anyway let's just hope we get to the bottom of Glory's plans before something drastic arises," Giles ponders before making a brief return to the middle of the room.

"Well how about instead of just sitting here, we could actually fight more demons," Anya figures.

"So I take the 4 hours of patrolling hasn't quite sunk in yet?" Xander replied.

"Hey, that's sarcasm right? What did I say about not using advanced human techniques on me." Anya demanded. But Xander, now looking even more baffled than before, just decided to calmly brush the back of her hair with his fingers instead. Anya responding to Xander's actions by falling back into a more relaxed position and calmly said: "We'll all I'm saying is that if you all had stronger powers, we wouldn't have to worry about Glory and the rest of the evil populous."

The room fell back into yet another eerie silence as Anya's face turned to a big grin, leaving everyone feeling slightly agitated, as the group experimented with a range of facial expressions.

"Well I think I better go, Mom might need me... or something," Buffy hastens.

Willow looked towards Anya sharply and then sympathetically back at Buffy remarked; "Don't go! It's still early, we could play Pictionary?"

"Yes, or The Game of Life!" Anya added.

"Anya, would you please stop talking!"

"Willow, just because your not getting any sex doesn't..."

"Would the both of you shut up!" Buffy shrieked. "I think it would do us all good if we all just went home and got some rest."

"I second that Buff, with all the friction here, I'm kinda getting hungry and oh! did I mention pissed off!" Xander trying to find the rest of his croissant added.

Willow and Anya, looking slightly embarrassed, decided to get their coats.

"Well this sure was an eventful evening, we must do it again?" Giles commented before reaching for the door. As the gang got the rest of their stuff, loud wailing noises followed by thunderous quakes were heard from outside. The group unshaken by the impacts start to assemble onto the front doorstep only to find hordes of comets filling the night sky.

To Be Continued...

"What the ****?" Xander yells.

"I don't know, looks like the 4th of July, but only bigger," Willow added.

Just then one of the comets started to head in their direction before darting through Giles's house exploding and bombarding the grounded group with bits of wood and glass.

After the blaze surrounding them fizzled down, Buffy gradually began to get up, carefully picking broken pieces of glass of her coat, but to her dismay she realised Giles was still lying on the ground motionless. As she grew nearer she noticed something was terribly wrong, thick pieces of glass were jammed through his forehead as his hands and limbs were lying dismembered and carved from the rest of his body.

"Oh my God, Giles?" Buffy, hurdling through the pile of bricks and dust, screams.

"Buffy, I'm sorry..."

"Giles, don't be sorry, you're gonna be just fine."

The rest of the gang gathered around Giles, and Buffy began to shed teardrops over his face as the rest of the group looked over in disbelief; Giles was dead. As they began to hug and embrace each other though, faint noises began to drone from underneath the pile of rubble. Suddenly from out of nowhere a monstrous figure erupted from the demolished house, a demonic body nearly three times as big as the group towering above them. Suddenly the monster started to howl enormous roars into the air as it began to spawn claws around 10-foot long from its mutated arms while exhibiting giant sharp incisors from its mouth, which began to snap wildly at the on looking group.

"Well ain't that just dandy" Xander joked frantically.

As the group attempted to regroup, screams of terror could be heard from all around them.

"Look, over there!" Willow pointed over to next road ahead to find a swarm of dead bodies being savaged and ripped apart by hundreds of the same mutated monsters.

"Help, Help me!" Shouted one of the victims as one of the monsters slashed at her face bringing the woman down onto her knees, before signalling the rest of his group upon her. Elsewhere people were being pinned down and raped while their eyes and stomachs were being gutted, victims were being sliced into pieces before finally having their vital organs wrenched out with the creatures' sharp incisors and then being stuffed back into the victims mouth. Other places even saw victims being tortured by some sort of telekinesis, as dozens of bodies just seemed to implode all over the place spewing entrails on the street like a scene from the movie "Bloodbowl," but this was for real! As the group looked in horror, thousands more comets were making a path for the planet's surface and the sky which usually portrayed a ghostly black now resembled blazing inferno of fire.

"Buffy, watch out behind you!"

Just then a creature from one of the houses vaulted behind Buffy and attempted to slice its sword-like claws through her meagre body, but for some reason it stopped just inches before decapitating Buffy's head. As Willow, Xander and Anya looked in shock, the demon began to focus on Buffy's eyes before suddenly turning away.

"Hey Buffy, you mind telling me what just happened?" Xander now looking quizzed asked.

"Buffy... Buffy?"

"I think she's still in shock from Giles death" Willow tried to add comfortingly.

But as Buffy turned round something was clearly different about her. Her eyes were glowing a fierce red and her fists were clenched tightly.

"You bitch, it's your fault Giles is dead!"

"Buffy, but I didn't do nothing, remember big meteor things crashing and everything?" Willow tensely admitted.

"Well at least I'm not to blame," Anya exclaimed.

"Hey Buffy, easy on Willow." Xander now looking more serious added.

"You know what, I'm ****ing tired of looking after you all, I'm outta here."

As Buffy took one last look at Giles, she quietly made her way off into distance.

"But Buffy wait! We need you!" Willow yelled. But as her screams echoed into the night sky, another pack of monsters were quickly closing in on the three survivors.

"Ok, so what exactly do we do know?" Anya broached.

"Run!" Xander shouted, as the three attempted to flee. But as they attempt to scatter, Anya clumsily slipped over a stone as another four monsters leapt onto her, grabbing her arms and legs as another one of the creatures advanced onto her body.

"Anya!" Xander screamed.

"Help Me!" Anya shouted, but as Xander attempted to prevent the monsters from hurting his girlfriend, two other monsters grabbed his arms from behind.

"Get off her you assholes!" But as Xander struggled to free himself from the creature's grasp, one of the monsters started to undress Anya with its claws. As Xander agonisingly watched over, the monsters ripped her dress apart, leaving Anya deeply cut and almost bare. Then as tears started to fall from Anya's eyes, blending with her already blood-soaked body, the creatures jammed their blades through her mouth and another through her vagina causing Anya to spasm and rupture blotches of blood all over Xander's face.

As Anya's ear-jerking screams slowly turned into dying moans of torture, the monsters decide to retract their blades from Anya's body causing painfully slow slitting noises and leaving huge punctures in her body as the blood gushed out like a tap.

"Just finish her off! Can't you see her legs and arms are still moving," Xander cried as he notices Anya still writhing in pain. The monsters stared at Xander, looking like they were actually showing some signs of sympathy, and understanding what he was saying, but as he looked on the monsters, devoid of any compassion, just moved back over to Anya and started slicing her arms and legs.

Xander couldn't bear to look, but with the creatures holding him back with their sharp claws edging against his face, all he could do was close his eyes.

"God! No!" he screamed as the monsters turned back and looked at Xander for his approval. Then turning back to Anya the monsters continue ravaging her body with sharp incisors, causing her to moan slightly before abruptly ceasing as one of the creatures walked over her face with the deformed sole of its feet, leaving a border of red flesh and bones.

"No! You bloody great pieces of shit, finish me off. At least give me the dignity of a quick death," Xander now looking without emotion at the monsters.

But as the monsters prepare to hack his body into bloody pieces, one of the monsters from behind starts to signal the other monsters to stop.

"What the **** are they doing now? Are they gonna spare me?" Xander contemplated.

The creatures, now with their backs turned towards, Xander were clearly up to something as they began to form a huge circle, Xander thought to himself. Suddenly one of the monsters started howling at the sky as the rest of the creatures looked on as if they were ready for something. Then as the chanting slowly stopped a morbid silence began to twitch at Xander's side, before a swift bolt of light came jolting in a downwards spiral towards the centre of the creatures circle, sending Xander and the rest of the monsters hurtling into the pile of rotting corpses lying in the street. Then as the tremors started to end, a gigantic figure from out of the remaining debris and mist began to arise, standing almost four times as big as the previous monsters. Xander, quick to the prospect of being monster food, started to run, but his pace was clearly no match for the size of the behemoths large strides.

Then as Xander thought to himself that it was either die now or die later, he turned around and began to charge at the towering creature. With blood streaming from the wound he received earlier and tears trickling down his face mourning for Anya's death, he quickly pounced at the monsters feet, attacking it with his bare hands. But what he didn't know was that the creature's skin was violently toxic and as he attempted to weaken the monster, his hands began to slowly decay and dissolve into a mush of corroded red fluid and burnt black flesh.

"Jesus muther****ing Christ, my hands, my ****ing hands!"

As Xander held his hands above his face, screaming in agony at the disfigured sight before him, the huge creature on looking his victim began to speak.

"I am Rektilios, 1st Overlord of the Septuagint Chron commandment. Lucifer my lord, Lucifer the saviour, Lucifer the damned will rise, rise, he will rise!"

And with that the mighty giant grabbed Xander's body and ripped the head and spinal cord attached right out of his frail torso, spewing vast portions of blood and body parts all over the street. Then, while picking up the almost boneless carcass of Xander's that now lay before him, it fed it to its many clawed teeth before finally disgorging the rest of the bones and chewing on the remaining parts of the bloody victims flesh around the orifice of it's deformed mouth. It then began to gather up what was left of the dead bodies that lay on the ground while crushing any moaning survivors and dragging them out slowly with him into the exit of the darkness of the night.

As the black night slowly turned into day and the mist began to glimmer specks of light, a faint figure in a nearby bush started to shuffle. Suddenly the trembling figure began to slowly emerge from the hedge and clumsily fall into the desolate and now barren street. It was Willow, silently weeping in case the Overlord was still nearby. As she fearfully looked on though, she found nothing but a trail of blood still running down the road and the aftermath of the massacre still at large. She had lost almost everything in one night, three of her friends were now dead, rotting in a deluge of slaughtered bodies, and an 80-foot monster possessed her best friend. With Willow now fearing the worst, was the only hope for the world now gone?

As Willow glanced at the bodies, she felt like she was being powerlessly thrown in a vertigo, as she embraced an ushering pain swiftly moving back and forth her body and making her throw up onto one of the disfigured corpses.

"I'm so sorry," she frantically muttered to the still body as if she were going crazy. Images of the corpses began to relentlessly spin through her mind as the faces glared at her.

"Willow! Willow, is that you?" an unknown voice yelled from behind her.

She peered over her shoulder, trying to void out the image of the dead bodies, seeing a clouded figure glazing from under the sunshine and pacing closer towards her. Moving her cradled hand above her bloodshot eyes to seep out the glimmering sunlight, she saw the figure carefully walk through the deluge of bodies and eventually standing in front of her. Looking into his eyes, she clutched onto him and began to moan silent tears of despair.

"So, you just gonna stand there and talk to the dead folk are you?"

"Riley…"

"Sshh, I know, it's terrible. Is Buffy ok?" Riley asks subtly.

Willow now wiping her tears fell away, relinquishing the fact that Buffy left them and rationally glared back at him.

"Yes, yes she's fine."

"Well where is she now?" Riley asked as a sense of relief overcame him.

"I... I don't quite know, one minute she's with us and the next minute she's gone."

"Xander and Anya? Dead?" Riley guessed as if he could already sense Willow's suffering.

"Yeah," Willow shuddered.

"Well let's get you back, I'll get Maggie, I mean the Initiative to clear up this mess."

Riley struggled with his trouser pockets and took hold of his Walkie-Talkie. "We have civilians down on Main, Baltimore, and Prescott, request immediate evac' of bodies, Over."

"Roger that, Echo-one. We have squads already deployed and are closing in on targets, Over."

"Right, let's go," Riley issues as if he were still talking to his receiver.

Drawing Willow back to his shoulder, they slowly made their way into the only passage they could see uninhabited by dead bodies.

"Don't worry," Riley hastens as the leaking gas pipes converge over the image of corpses behind them. "You'll be fine."

Meanwhile back at Buffy's house, Joyce was sitting ravelled deep in her sofa as she began to look at her hands.

"I'm shaking?" She said to herself as if she was trying to make sense of what was happening. "I wonder where Buffy is?" She contemplated as she sat up to pour herself another coffee.

Just then the door slammed open making Joyce hurl the container against the wall, creating a puddle of black stains and shattering the glass across the floor.

"Buffy!" Joyce shrieked as Buffy stared fixedly at the wall. "Don't worry about that, are you ok?"

"Fine," Buffy added sullenly.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong... where's the kitchen?"

"Buffy are you ok?" Joyce asked more intensely.

"Yeah fine," Buffy now hastened into the next room.

"Buffy, I really would like to know if something's wrong. Are you..."

But before she could finish the sentence, Buffy, grasping a knife, lunged at her mother, piercing her skin with a blunt silence and causing Joyce to jolt backwards in a spasmodic motion.

"Buffy!" Joyce gasped and shrieked.

"That's right, mother. Buffy!"

Buffy retracted the knife as Joyce fell to the floor and begin to walk mercilessly towards the television. She turned it on and began to watch the local news as her mother lay writhing in pain watching the blood begin to drip onto the floor.

"Don't worry mother, I'll clear the stains on the wall later."

"And in other news today, hundreds of Sunnydale residents are fearing for their lives in last night's incidents where a gang of vandals from outside of town massacred five people in the Lake District. Insiders at the Sunnydale police station request all residents stay inside their homes and await further instruction as to how they wish to deal with the crisis."

Then as the screen began to fade out into the commercials, a short burst of two gleaming eyes flashed on the screen. Buffy began to sit up from her seat, turning around to her mother as Joyce looked up at her.

"Buffy, I don't understand, have you seen outside?" a bewildered Joyce asked as she clutched her wound.

"Mum, you know how you always wanted to help me save the world?" Buffy whispered as she crouched toward Joyce's ear.

"Buffy?"

"Buffy! I'm not Buffy, do you know a Buffy?" she tensely responded as her eyes start to turn a gleaming misty white.

Now feeling agitated, she began to make her way back into the kitchen.

"I... I just want to know that I love you," Joyce replied, disheartened, as if she now feared for her life.

"Now, now mother, there's no need for that," Buffy embellished as the clattering sound she was making from inside the kitchen began to intensify.

"You see Joyce, today is a holy day, a day for upheaval and soon a day of rising. You think saving the world is a ways to find peace? You see our time, the Earth's time has finally come and soon we will all see evolution finally take it's real place among humanity. You think the Hellmouth is just a convergence for petty demons and hell beasts? You think these vampires and zombies are really the only things that walk in the night? You have no idea to what I am, no idea to what we are. A Slayer isn't just destined to save mankind until we die, we are in essence a life force, guided by something much greater than knowledge and being..."

Joyce began to crawl towards the doorway as Buffy rambled on, but staggering to the staircase she began to stop as the pain she felt was clearly too much to handle. Managing only to sit herself up on the staircase as if to shelter her figure from Buffy, she began to quieten.

"Uh, uh, uh. Nowhere to hide Joycie."

As the sound of Buffy's footsteps became more apparent, the dark shadowy figure became more vivid as she now looked upon her daughter.

"No, Buffy please no, don't do that," Joyce tried to calmly plead.

Buffy stopped for a second as she held a battery-powered dicer in both her hands, while contemplating her thoughts.

"Mother, you now how you always made me something to eat before I went out, well I guess it's my turn after all these years to return you the favour. I'm hungry..."

And with one long heave, Buffy implanted the dicer into Joyce's head as her hands and legs began to flail in the air and eventually hold onto the banisters in agony. Screams of terror began to filter from under the plastic holder as blood began to wash onto the sides and drip down Joyce's body. Head parts and brain entrails issued over the floor as Buffy reassuringly laughed at her mother's demise. Then as she brought the dicer off Joyce's head, her body collapsed onto the staircase as if she were now merely taking a rest.

"Ah, much better" Buffy gleefully admitted to herself in front of the mirror as she began to fix her hair and makeup. Then picking up her mother's car keys, she started to open the front door. Suddenly a faint sound emanated from the pool of blood came towards Buffy's attention. It was Joyce trying to move from the somewhat unconceivable head injury she was suffering. Slamming the door, Buffy looked on.

"Well this is interesting. Joycie? You don't have superpowers do you?" Buffy amused, sniggered to herself as Joyce, now missing half her head, shuddered to the floor.

Buffy began to make her way back into the kitchen, as she opened the draw and amused herself over which tool she'd use next.

Meanwhile, this time trying to reach the phone, Joyce began to try and make her way across the blood soaked floor knowing though that her efforts were negligible to what she knew ultimately was to happen.

"Here, let me help you," Buffy carelessly stated as she carved a meat cleaver into her left leg and then a handful of forks into the other. Joyce unbearably jolted her arms backwards, yet almost mortified with pain, and withdrew in a corpse like stance, as she wasn't able to reach the piercing weapons. Still alive though, she could only bear the pain and hope Buffy would believe she was now dead.

"Are we still alive?" Buffy now angrily remarked as if she had broken her favourite toy. Suddenly small goblets of fluidic flesh immersed in tears started to transpire from Joyce's face, creating a downfall of sickening pleasure for Buffy. She sat beside her mother as if to almost comfort her, however while looking into the hallway as to almost hide her intentions, she commenced to ram Joyce's head into the floor repeatedly.

"Won't... You... Just... Die!" Buffy emphasized angrily as blood began to spread over the curtains and furniture. As she slowly ceased the pounding of what now looked like a deformed carcass lying before her, she jumped to her feet. Delighted with herself, she then began to violently kick her as the bones thudding shattering broke the silence.

Then poking at Joyce's head as if she was uncommon to its human physiology, she eventually withdrew the meat cleaver and began to forcefully wedge handfuls of flesh from her body onto the floor. Dropping the knife, she then commenced to gouge out the eyeballs from her head, bringing them up towards her eye-line.

"Are you dead yet, Joycie?" Buffy snorted to herself.

Then throwing the eyeballs into the hacked pile of flesh that now lay before her, she made her way out the front door. "Well, that was fun," she admitted, while her eyes mysteriously flashed a pale white, and she left the house.
