Sunnydale......Gators?

Ok, so i have taken my sweet time reading buffy: omnibus #3 (not sure why because it is really good).

in the story: 'new kid on the block' (more specifically, page 141) there is a panel where xander is standing on his bed, flipping a flashlight in the air, and ready to spy on the girls slumber party. below his right elbow is a banner that reads "sunnydale gators." whats up with that?

im not sure who made that decision, but the 'penciling' was done by janice chiang. i think she didnt know any better, or someone told her to do it, or something else that i cant think of.

any thoughts?

::takes out omnibus 3 and flips to page 141:: Sunnydale Gators? Hmm....I'm thinking blooper. I mean we know that it was always the Razors at Sunnydale...I mean I would suggest it's a local team not to do with the High School but it's too typical-high-school looking to be that. It's definitely related to Sunnydale High.

I really can't explain that beyond maybe the penciller only heard the Sunnydale team briefly and thought she heard Gators instead of Razors. Thinking Gator made more sense. I don't know, I'm just rambling ideas here. Haha. But good eye there- I never would have noticed that!

It's Razorbacks, right? Not Razors? Definitely not Gators, though. I'm thinking mistake on the penciler's part.

Oh sorry, I know it's Razorsbacks. I just kept automatically shortening it to match in comparison to Gators. Whoops. (Hey, maybe she thought it was Gatorbacks and just couldn't fit it on.....)

I think I am the only one who isn't getting these.

Must have just been a mistake. But seriously, how do you mess that up? If you are going to draw for Buffy you should know it inside out!

Well in one of the Omnibuses they murdered the outside of the Bronze and changed it to "The BRONZE Club" and made it very casino-ey outside. With the THUMPA THUMPA! sound effects... And the vampires looked like bats. I saw the preview on Amazon and it was a scary time for me! I mean...yeah...

Have all three of these omibuses, and while I think most of the stories are pretty good, and the art is decent enough, I absolutly detest anything involving Spike and Drusilla. The art is horrendous. They have red eyes and look like something that just stepped off of a 1930's horror movie set. Why can't they draw vampires the way they were seen in the show? With yellow eyes, and no freaking claws?!

i agree. but im not gonna stop with spike and dru. i dont like how they do any of the vamps! they are all green and monster looking...........not 'vamp looking.'

Not all of them, though. The ones drawn by Cliff Richards have show-vamps. I only have Omni 1, so I'm not sure about the rest of them, but I know that the majority of vamps in Omni 1 are show like. :nod:

Yeah it's only one or two artists who keep the design of the vampires like they are in the show. The others are always these green, grotesque, creature from the black lagoon things.
And I agree about the Spike and Dru issues. I just can't get into them. If the art isn't good then I can't get into the story. It's the same for the issue that's in the second omnibus- the one about Giles' neice visiting? I can't get into that one because they look nothing like the characters and all the girls have these X-Men-esque man-arms. Not good. Haha.
