View Full Version : Spinoffs You Wouldn't Have Wanted to See?
Crazy Flakes

There's been endless discussion about spinoffs that you would want, but I was wondering, what Whedonverse spinoffs would you not want to see? I would say:
Kennedy the Series (nobody likes her!)
Rona the Series (I think people would've just laughed at that.)
The Potentials (the only Potentials I could stand were Vi and the Chinese girl who didn't speak any English.)
and, of course...
The Past Hairstyles of Angelus (no comment needed.)
Anyone else?

"the defective initiative - the riley finn story"
"ampata - the life and death of a sacrificial virgin"
"harmony - the story of a dumb blonde"

Damn, you struck out on the first swing! That's sad. (Shouldn't presume to speak for Everybody...)
I can't say I would have hated to see any spinoff, but If I had to pick one that I had no interest in, it's the one that seems to be at the top of most people's list: Spike & Faith. If that was all I could get, I probably would have watched it, but I don't believe there were two characters out of the main cast that I had less interest in seeing any more of (maybe Riley and Cordelia, but they were gone anyway.)

'Ted: The early years' - The story of Ted pre-Joyce.
'Anyanka- The sexcapades' -pre-Xander, still a vengance demon, a story of sex, death and vengance... kinda like a bad porn series.
I was going to say, The Andrew Show, but then, if it's anything like Storyteller, I'd change my mind and love it! :)

*"Dawn: The Young and Spoiled" - I'd better put some DVD on and rewatch some BTVS, if I ever came across such show on TV.
*"Harmony" - just so not interested in it.

How about: In 80 days minus fullmoon and surrounding night around the world - the life and joy of Oz.
Well, I never particularly liked his character, so that explains itself.

You know what, I sorta want to see the ones I mentioned earlier as well.. and I've thought of some more that could potentially be amusing/awful...
'The Ripper Story, told by Ethan Rayne'- How ridiculously embellished would that be?
'Willie the Snitch- Barman for the evil and undead'

I'd love to see both of those
"The Flutie and Snyder Story: Pre-digestion, the diaries of a SHS principal"

Demon Daughter: Kathy Newman rebels against her demon father by insisting on attending human college. Kathy, and best friend Veruca hang out at the Doublemeat palace, and get into wacky misadventures.
God, I shouldn't even put that meme out into the ether. It's the kind of stupid thing a studio might actually do.
"The Adventures of Little Grrr Argh Guy"

"The Adventures of Little Grrr Argh Guy"
nerd4hire agrees: Robo Chicken should do that one.
They did do that on Robot Chicken and it was hilarious but I don't think it could do an entire series. Here is the link though and it is actually Joss Whedon's voice btw.

Another spinoff that I would not want to see is Cordelia and the Clique: The story of Cordy before Buffy came to town.

You do realise that all the ones that you don't want to see, you'd be the first ones tuning in IF Joss wrote it and it had the real actors.
I'm pretty sure people wouldn't want to see my idea. A little cardboard cutout finger puppet going "Grrr Argh" back and forwards for 45 minutes would get kinda boring.

Aren't there kids programmes to that effect?? At least kids programmes of some clay man... and stop it and tidy up- they're just balls of clay.. I'm sure the grr argh man would be just as entertaining. :)
"Buffy Season 9: The Cheaper Way Home"
Nothing but finger puppets, Buffy's stake is now literally a splinter, the Vampires just get perforated. Joss does all the voices by impersonating the cast (poorly).
Hilarity ensues, or something.

Spike Spinoff: Unless it was centred around him and had someone like faith or illyria as a co-star, then I could handle it
Dawn Spinoff: It would have to involve an entirely new cast, and I don't think she's a strong enough character on her own to do that. Same with Xander, he's meant to be in the scooby squad!
Kennedy Spinoff: Although a Willow spinoff with kennedy and andrew as "guest" or secondary characters could have been cool
Really my big thing is that I'm all for spinoffs, but there's a fine balance of keeping enough old characters, blending it into the other shows without giving away too much (or focusing too much on them), having a main character that can stand well enough on their own...
That's why it always bugs me to see fan made trailers of say a "Willow" spinoff series, but with Buffy, Angel and Spike in the cast. It's a nice thought, but there is just no way you could pull that off with Willow as anymore of a centric character than she was. Not with such main characters in the cast, you know?
I would love to see a movie/spinoff though. Definitely!

Anything Spike: Unless he copped a nice big (and final) stake thru the heart in the first episode... I am really tired of his character there is nothing else I need to (or want to see).
The empathic adventures of Lorne: Lorne teams up with a new gang who follow his empathic side to help people (what's annoying is I can actually imagine this being made)
Anything Willow: I love Willow but enough is enough.
A show about the New Slayers: Unless it was an evil one or something - or a guy slayer, that'd be cool (but still I think both hav been covered by BTVS and AtS)
Anything Riley based
****
OOoohh ohhh And the comic version of BTVS s8. I know people are gonna hate me for this, but some of the things I have heard sound so out of character I don't even want to read it cuz I don't want to destroy my love for the Buffyverse.

Okay, I keep thinking of great titles but then I realize I would so like to see them, like

THE McCLAYS?
Hang on, they did that, but they called it The Addams Family, that means BTVS was a spin off, hmmm.

Id hate to see an Illyria spinoff, and of course, obviously Kennedy and Connor too.
Maybe Connor wouldnt be too bad but the other two would just be terrible, nothing interesting at all.

Funny thread. Donīt have any "clever" names at the moment so Iīll wait for now. I do have to say that I think Iīd love to see at least half of the suggestions so far.

A Spike Spin off, I just wouldn't be interested.
Because you're nuts. And weird, Or a little of both... ;)
I never really hated Kennedy so I can't say that I woud have hated a spinoff with her. Seriously doubt it would have worked but that's a different issue.
One I would have hated? Anything Riley related. And not because I didn't like the character either but because of the fact he was written to be uninteresting. That was the whole point. He was the safe option to Buffy's addiction to bad boys. Even when he tried to be cool he was still kinda dull, which worked in his role on Buffy but would have been a terrible idea for a lead role in his own show.

The Kinslayer agrees: Oh, come on! Who doesnīt want to watch Faithīs anatomy? Just imagine the possiblitys. But I have to give you credit for coming up with everything. Good job!
Aethra agrees: If Caligula made a guest appearance in I, Angelus, I'd definitely tune in!
Crazy Flakes agrees: I'd probably watch almost every show on there, haha.
Yeah, I took the question to a whole different level for fun's sake - and just to be different.
I even tried to make them interesting. I know a few would have my rapt interest.
Some of them might even have a shot at staying on the air if they were real.
