So, dunno if you guys have heard, but apparently it has been confirmed at the Paley Convention thing that Oz WILL be in season 8
Discuss:
Why does everyone love Oz?
Does anyone else think that there are other characters that should have been coming back instead? Like Clem?! Or Willie?
How we should be happy that even though it's Oz, it isn't Riley =]

Oz is just the guy that is well THE guy. I think he began to majorly appeal to the major part of the female fans when he gave Willow that mini-speech in Innocence when he says how he's willing to wait till she wants to kiss him as well. It was so sweet and swoonable and what, ultimately, I think every girl looks for in a man. He managed to be sensitive yet manly at the same time. I mean when Will was in danger, only Angel could match Oz for protective agression.
Plus his larconic humor and deliverance of lines always made me laugh. I loved it. Even more so when they had the other characters poking fun at it such as when Xander said 'I thought you almost had an expression' and Oz replies 'I felt one coming on I won't lie'
I can't wait to see Oz again, more so for the mere fact that I wonder how his storyline will go, how he'll fit in. Plus, how it will effect Willow and her relationship with Kennedy. I mean I know there's no chance of her switching back and going to Oz (Though with it being Kennedy and not Tara this time I honestly can say I wish that would happen, haha) but it's gotta effect the girl right? Gotta effect all of them really.
Personally, I'm happy for any character returns in whatever way as long as it's one of the classics. Personally I'm rooting for the return (however mini) of Anya and also, if hope springs eternal which for me it does, Joyce (Duh). C'mon she's the only character to have been in all seven seasons besides Giles, Buffy, Willow and Xander. We can't break traditon NOW.
And hey- no Riley digs. ::glares in a partially amused way:: Though in all honesty after the events of As You Were the Riley/Buffy storyline has played out though I would love to see him be the 'helpful hand and save the day' person as regards to the army storyline in the comics. Agent Finn flying in to get them all to back off from the Buffster and co or something to that effect. Would love that. :D Hehe

I always liked Oz as well. But hey Clem, that's not to say I wouldn't be happy if Clem or Willy showed up.. always wondered where he got to.
Oz didn't need to express himself with speech as much as others... he was subtle, but still enjoyable. As Joyce mentioned my favourite scene from him is in Innocence.. also Helpless actually when him and Xander argue about what kind of kryptonite is the power sucker for superman.
Seth was into the idea that he was returning.. he said something like 'will I be kissing girls?' hard to understand the mp3 properly sometimes

I honestly cannot remember Oz being funny at all, i just remember him being boring and hardly ever speaking.
And i hope you don't get your way and have Anya back....unless she opens up another shop with Giles lol
*Keeps mouth shut about the only way he'd be happy with Riley coming back*
And i think Joyce would be better coming back in After the Fall, her and Spike together was always brilliant!

Anya is like Marmite. You either love her or you hate her. I love her. Hehe. No stones will be thrown....much.
And Clem- *loving* your concept of Joyce in After the Fall. Spike and Joyce always had great chemistry and you can just imagine the crazy, confused, surrogate-mother-esque scenes as regards to Spike's recent lifestyle change...haha.
And nice with the mouth shutting as regards to Riley. Haha. I know I am a minority. We Riley-Likers are shunned and few and far between....alas.

I'd love for Oz to return and him continue to get used to Willow being gay since he hadn't seen her since the day she came out and also have him see Willow be a hell of a lot more powerful than she was when they first met, and more adult and much more confident and beautiful

I like Oz so I'm glad he's gonna make an appearance. I would love it if Cordelia appeared on season 8 too. It would be interesting seeing how her and the scoobies get along after she changed so much on Angel.

Given the lack of male characters; Giles is hardly ever there, and Andrew doesn't really count, it's good that they're introducing another guy into the mix. Oz has always been popular and the character only left because Seth wanted to leave, so I understand that they'd like him back.
I think it might be interesting to have him back, I'm not sure I want him to stay on indefinitely though.

With Oz it would be a bit like old School reunion, so I don't mind to see him again. He was nice guy and I've got so used to him.

Not an Oz fan. But I loved the werewolf aspect.. and it'll be interesting to see the dynamic change with him being back.
Please bring back Willie the Snitch. I loved him. He was just so... slimey!

I never really liked Oz that much, so not a fan.
Now who I 'd like to definitely see return would be Cordelia. Do I even have to explain any further, lol?
And Anya would be nice as well.
I never really minded Oz. I actually don't remember he was there unless someone else mentions him. As long as he brings something interesting to the show/comic I wouldn't mind his return.

Oz was the coolest, I wanted to be Oz for the longest amount of time, this was of course before I became comfortable with my Xanderness.
I like how he was rarely stressed and always cool, well apart from Willows scent outing her, which by the way was an awesome use of his werewolfness.
Id love to see Oz and many of the early season peeps back.
I mean you have to love Cordy, although I didn't really like grown up Cordy, I prefer 'don't you have an elsewhere to be?' cordy.
I'd love to see some randoms pop up as well, like harmony and the like.

Oz coming back, how cool is that. I always liked his character (reminded me of someone i went to high school with)and wondered what happened to him after he left when he found out about willow and tara. I kinda figured he would have been good on Angel too and maybe could've helped Nina control her woolfiness like he was able to control.

I'd love to see Oz return as like, a demon hunter. Or maybe the head of the Asian division of the Slayers. And I'd like Riley to come to the rescue at some point, even if it was only a cameo, like Buffy and co. are cornered by the evil soldiers and helicopters come flying over the horizon like Apocalypse Now (dum da da dum, dum da da dum dum...) and we get a quick panel showing Riley in one of the choppers saying something about having Buffy's back. That'd be cool.

woo thats cool :) I might actually start reading the comics now. :) I would be interested in seeing how this will change the overall atmosphere. I mean its got to affect Willow. I wonder what his role will be?

I can't wait to see what kind of mojo Oz has working. He had the whole Buddhist thing going last time, so i can't wait to see who he's become now.

I thought Oz was funny and cool... but I never really missed him once he left. I'm kinda over Oz. But if he brings something neat to the comics, then that would be cool. He's still alive, so I'd rather see him return than see Anya or Joyce or Tara return. Back-from-the-dead stories sometimes make it hard for me to continue to love and accept a character.

Oz in season 8. That's awesome.
Does anyone know if he's gonna show up at all in After the Fall? I thought ATF was supposed to be what happened if Angel hadn't been cancelled, and everyone knows that Oz was gonna show up to help out the werewolf girl.

I wouldn't count on him turning up. The plot is only loosely based on the plans for Season 6. I think one of the ideas they dropped was Oz, because the comic is already packed to the max with characters.

Actually the specific talk of Oz in Season 8 goes back to at least Comic Con last July. Joss was asked about Oz in Season 8. He said it wasn't a matter of "if", but "when".

I would have definitely loved to see Cordelia interact with the Scobbies after she changed so much and it would have been cool to perhaps see Xander go over to an episode of Angel. I mean both Buffy and Willow have went to Angel and even Oz, Faith, and Spike. But I doubt that's going to happen I think Cordy's story is done (upset that she got killed off, but I don't think she had a place in Season 5 of Angel). But yeah I'd like to see more male characters

Yet ANOTHER reason they should have set up After the Fall exactly the same way as Buffy Season 8. Meaning, with episodes.

I'm completely over Oz. I can't even imagine what they'd do with him. Honestly I'd prefer Kennedy actually being present over having Oz. Also, Anya is my favourite character, and I'd love her back. I'm not sure in reality if I want her back though because at some point you do want death to be permanent, or you'll never care when characters die because you'll just think they'll come back.

Oz was a cool character. He should be working for the Initiative when he comes back, like working with them since season 4.
Daniel Osbourne the Secret Agent is brilliant.

I liked Oz just because he was that one character that acted like everything around him wasn't real. I know that sounds weird considering he was a werewolf but with Oz he was kind of indifferent to everything. I liked his remarks and it was always hard to tell if he was serious, sarcastic, or humorous. Oz's greatest scene was when Willow was abducted by the Mayor and the only thing Oz did when the Scoobies was fighting was knock over the caudron. Oz had this way of expressing himself without being too dramatic. That was just cool. That was just Oz.

I've said it many times before, but I'll say it one more time here: I don't think the Willow/Tara relationship wasn't as much a gay issue as it was just two lonely people who fell in love. That's why I really think seeing Oz come back and Willow having to compare what she had with him as opposed to what she has with Kennedy is really going to be interesting. Plus, it'll be good for Xander to have someone to share a little "guy time" with. With only Andrew and the other girls at Slayer Castle, he must be getting a little lonely.

I kinda have to agree with that, but on the other hand, I don't really see Oz and Willow as being much different. Oz was attracted to Willow the first time he saw her, but it's fairly obvious that he was as much of an outsider as the rest of the gang even before he became a werewolf. And Willow didn't show any romantic interest in Oz (she really was just using him to try and make Xander jealous,) up until he started showing a real interest in her, when she reciprocated - much the same scenario as with Tara and Kennedy, although each of the three had a different approach. Poor Willow...
