I was re-reading earlier issues of Season Eight and while reading The Long Way Home, part IV I was wondering if Joss will further explain what exactly did Willow mean when she said "Did I ever tell you about my best friend? I live to think in a way, that she's a part of me. That even when she's gone, a part of her is with me." And then Buffy's eyes go black and she says "Cause it is." I mean does that mean that Buffy and Willow in some ways are the same person, kind of like how Buffy said about Dawn that she's apart of me.

Also while reading that same issue I hope they explain what dimension or whatever Willow went to when she was being lobotimized and saw those giant elemental things. What the hell were they? Where did Willow met them? And why were they interferring to help her?

Its possible she was visiting their dimension during Angel season 5 while abroad studying her Astral Projection, as to why I don't know, maybe to find a means to communicate with Tara in her afterlife as an alternative since she cannot be brought back.

As for their connection, its probably to do with the Spell, Willow touched the source of the Slayer's power, was temporarily, even for an instant, became connected to every Slayer on the planet, there may be a trace of that connection left in the magic she used, making herself a part of the Chain in some fashion.

This would allow her to send some of her power to anyone connected, the closer the better, and since Buffy and Willow have been in close proximity for many years, maybe there is a quantum connection, Buffy's physical makeup has been in close proximity to Willow's magic all that time?

Could it have something to do with the spell at the end of season 4 to beat Adam?

Joss also showed their connection in Anywhere But Here.. when Willow's magic is used as Buffy's weapon. Seemed like he was saying even when they don't get along they have a bond which is very transcendent. Which is basically the way he describes their friendship in Innocence commentary.
