Ausiello from TV Guide has a bit of a scoop maybe...

Eliza Dushku may be bunking with some old friends when she moves into Joss Whedon's Dollhouse next season. According to multiple sources, several Buffyverse grads are being considered for the eight supporting roles now being cast.

Whedon confirmed this unbelievably fraktacular turn of events moments before taking the stage at Paley Fest's Buffy tribute last Thursday. "I've read a couple of people [from the Buffyverse]," he told me, "but I'm not going to say who."

That would be cool to see some Buffyverse people show up on the show, even as guest stars. Also as I said in another thread, Sean Maher aka Simon Tam from Firefly would be great in one of the male roles. I mean I just hope that Joss uses some old faces that I haven't see in a while I miss 'em.

I think that if they cast SMG it would get confusing for some people who would look at Sarah and Eliza together and think, "Oh, Buffy and Faith!" I trust Eliza's talent to keep people from thinking she's Faith, but it might be more difficult if Sarah's a regular. I think guest spots might work, though.

I can't really see Sarah signing up for a supporting role.. but would be cool if it happened.
Be cool if Alexis Denisof was in there somewhere, just love him. But just about anyone from the Buffyverse would be great. He said buffyverse, not whedonverse did he?

i am willing to bet tons of money ($3.50.....hey, thats alot of money) that one of the persons who read for dollhouse was jonathan woodward.

jonathan played "holden webster" in the 'conversations with dead people' episode on buffy; the evil "knox" in multiple epis on angel (damn punk turned fred into illyria); and "tracey" the old army buddy of mal and zoes on firefly.

i think joss really likes jonathan and is really trying to get him a permanent job on one of his shows. dollhouse will be that show.

*Bounces* YES!! Jonathan Woodward!! That man is awesome, seriously one of the funniest people I have ever met. I would love to see him in Dollhouse. Not only is he a really great guy, but, as I found out recently, he's actually a great actor. Well, I knew that already, but this was for a play, and he had to learn it in less than an hour, I think. He was brilliant in it. And so funny. I'd love to see Joss, finally, give him a permenant part in something...and have him round off all four of Joss' shows. And, really, any excuse to bring Johnny to a Convention is okay by me. Wonder how long it'll take for Dollhouse Con's to spring up?

Anyway, as for the other Buffyverse people, I'm actually still hoping for James or Michelle. I think they'd fit in with the idea of the show. Maybe Tom Lenk, too.

I happen to find Woodward very boring. I can't stand him on firefly, that's for sure.

I can definitely see Sean in it. I loved him as Simon Tam. I am not sure who else I would like to see but I think it would be weird having Sarah as the supporting role. I don't think she'll do it. I want her to have her own show...that Joss creates ;).

Joss tends to use the same actors over and over again, almost like some of the old ensemble shows in the early days of tv. It's should be no real surprise to anyone familiar with his work that he would continue to do the same thing. It would be good to see some of the old bunch again.

anything that helps lift the ratings (and Whedonverse guest stars) is always a plus!

I'd really like to see Charisma get a role. She seemed so subdued at the Paleyfest. Someone interviewing her asked if she would be interested in Dollhouse and she seemed keen.

I too would love to see Charisma. She's great. I want her with You're Welcome hair. You know, if we are voting on it ;). Which clearly we are not but oh well.

I'd cheer for quite a few of them. And with the storyline, I think he's got lots to choose from.
LOTS of his actors could easily do it. Cordy, Fred, Wesley, Spike...maybe even Xander, but I've never really seen all of his "range" and that would be a big part of it.

I actually prefer her longer hair. She looked so sexy at the convention.

Although it would be great to see some of the Alumns reconnect with Joss, I'm afraid that if actors like James, Tony, David, or Sarah, who played characters that were iconic to non-fans, commit to the project, many people will disregard the show as something only B/A-fans would like.

I think Joss should add Alexis to the main cast, because I think Joss owes it to him. AD is the only Jossverse actor who's career was damaged and stalled after working on Angel.

How about Stephanie Romanov? She was great as the lawyer bitca and I would love to see her do something else. Plus, she's never been on Buffy and was only recurring guest star on Angel (although she was on longer than certain regulars who shall remain undead), so it wouldn't be like the 'Buffy and Faith' thing somebody else mentioned.
Other than that, I like the Charisma idea. And if we're voting, I'd say long hair.

How do you figure that? Also, since Alexis met his wife (Alyson Hannigan) on the set of Buffy, isn't it Alexis who owes Joss?!?!

I agree with Social Suicide that Stephanie Romanov would work wonderfully well on this show. I can definitely picture her as one of the women in charge of the Dollhouse.

I'd also like to put forth the option of Amber Benson; a wonderfully talented actress, who is also very versatile.

I think James could do it. He looks SO different without the platinum hair and accent. When he was on Saving Grace it took almost every part of me to even see Spike for a split second. I think Sarah, David, and Alyson would be too much. But, James is like a chameleon on Buffy and Angel, I think he could squeeze in nicely.

I wondered if it isn't some of the 'bit' players - maybe some of the potentials, Vi or Kennedy and the like or maybe Tom Lenk. I'd love it to be James but i'm not holding my breath.

Well, that clears it up nicely....
Here's my picks
1.) Juliet Landau
2.) J. August Richards
3.) Mitch Pileggi....nothing against ASH...but I think playing another Father-Figure could be too much and I'd rather see Ripper get pulled into a full time thing some day. Besides, I miss Skinner
4.) Tom Lenk
5.) Couldn't care less. I guess it would depend if Kendra REALLY has that accent, because I couldn't take her long if I had to listen to it all the time.
6.) Matthew Bomer...didn't see Tru Calling, but Ben bugged me.
7.) Don't care either way.
8.) Gina Torres

Still wish they could have made room for Cordy and Fred, but I'll sulk loudly and maybe someone will get my frustration through ESP.

So, you think becoming a male version of a stay-at-home housewife is successful? No! I think he gave up his acting career to make his little wife happy. I really thing that if Alexis stayed in England and never returned to the US he would be a star today instead of ending up an unemployed has-been.

So, you think becoming a male version of a stay-at-home housewife is successful? No! I think he gave up his acting career to make his little wife happy. I really thing that if Alexis stayed in England and never returned to the US he would be a star today instead of ending up an unemployed has-been.

I have several issues with all that.

1. What exactly is wrong with being a stay-at-home-husband? There's nothing wrong with being a stay-at-home-wife or a stay-at-home-husband if it's what you chose to do. It's a perfectly acceptable life choice done by many people.

2. How the heck can you know if he gave up his career for Alyson? Unless you've spoken to him face-to-face and directly about this, that is an assumption with very little backing...

3... for how do you know he didn't just decide to lessen his acting jobs himself? Many actors/actresses feel at some point in their career that they presently don't want to do anything else. It's a very draining career and breaks are sometimes needed and sometimes the actor/actress realizes they're not quite ready to get back in the game. And there are some that never do, preferring to stay at home or pursue another career.

4. Just because an actor is not employed does not make him a hasbeen. No actor is employed techincally until they are actually working on a job. Johnny Depp has periods where he isn't working on film. Technically he is unemployed at that time, but that doesn't make him a has-been.

5. I woukld never class Alexis as a has-been. Just because he hasn't had any main roles does not make you a has-been in the acting world. Supporting and guest roles are just as important and oftentimes allow the actor to explore his/her abilities more.

6. He enjoyed his work on Angel and as many actors will tell you, that is the primary reason why they do a lot of work. What's the point if it's not something you enjoy? Why would he return to England where he has as much chance as being what you describe as a 'star' as he has in America, when he had the opportunity to work on a great show with friends?

Check the IMDb......

This says Alexis was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy just before filming of the final season on Angel commenced. During the first episode, director Joss Whedon was careful to keep most of Alexis's shots on his right profile, as the left side of his face was fairly immobile at the time.

Perhaps THAT'S why he's not on the big screen much. That doesn't mean he's not writing or doing SOMETHING.

Word is some of the Dollhouse parts have been cast. So far,no Whedonverse-ers in the bunch-or for that matter, actors who we know much about.

Half of the roles have been cast and the most notable of the bunch: Tahmoh Penikett(Battlestar Galactica's Helo)as Paul Smith, the FBI agent who's been tracking down the urban myth of the Dollhouse to his career's detriment-and to become Echo's romantic foil.

Also cast:

*Fran Kranz(last seen on the little seen CBS sitcom "Welcome to the Captain")as Topher Brink, responsible for programming the Dolls.

*Dichen Lachman(another vet of the Aussie soap Neighbours)as Sierra,a fellow Doll not as self-aware as Echo.

*Enver Gjokaj, who plays Victor, another Doll-who's childlike when not in the field.

That still leaves 4 other roles to cast.

(BTW,the casting info was found out via TV Guide's Michael Ausiello.)

Amy Acker has been cast as a recurring character.

Angel Vet Moves into Whedon's Dollhouse (http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Ausiello-Scoop-Angels/800037759)

Early this morning, Whedon announced on his blog that Angel vet Amy Acker is joining the show's cast in the recurring role of Dr. Claire Saunders, the smart yet sad looker-after of the dolls who may or may not have a crush on nerdy programmer Topher

As long as they don't use the very iconic Buffyverse characters like Sarah, David, James, or Alyson, I think the show would be ok. When you have characters who have been so well established as their character on another show it'll get confusing to viewers. People could think it's another Buffyverse show or something.

I'd like to see Charisma Carpenter on this show. I don't know how well she'll fit though. The girl that played Kennedy on Buffy Season 7 could be pretty interesting too.

I really can't wait for this show. I'm sure it'll become another hit from Joss. I'm just confused why FOX decided to hold the show till Spring.

It has a better chance of survival being held to midseason, that's when FOX's ratings are best.
