You surely all remember this song at the end of Tabula Rasa? It made me all go "Aww" with Giles and Tara leaving.
Do you think this song was the perfect one for this moment? If you had to choose another song, which one would it be?

Yes! Perfect for the moment! Everytime I watch the episode I think "Wow, that get's my vote for best use of a song". What really wins me over though? The fact that its the acoustic version, there's such a huge difference

nooooo noo no no no. I really hated that song, and it felt so Dawson's Creek. I would've rather some low-key yet moving instrumental score than that crap.

I thought this song fit the mood of the scene perfectly. That song has been used many times since, but this is by far the best use of it. It's done poignently and not once does it become the cheese-fest it could have been. It's executed perfectly and hits all the right notes of the storyline. I especially love the accompnying shots of Giles on the plane and Willow crying on the floor.
Like TrueVengeance said the fact that it's the acoustic version makes it even better. It fits the mood even more and makes it just little bit more impressive. :)

I think it would have felt all Dawson's Creek if they hadn't had Michelle Branch at the Bronze. They have all sorts of singers at the Bronze all the time whose music they use like this. It just happened to be a rather popular singer this time.

I absolutely loved it?!?!!?
It is my favourite moment of the entire show and the ONLY song that could have replaced it: Bright side of Life - Monty Python

I love this song...! And it goes perfectly with the moment; I don't think I can think of a song good enough to replace it.
Michelle Branch is great, so I thought it was pretty good. Almost made my chippy masculine self a little depressed.

I thought it was a perfect choice. I wouldn't change it for any song. And now everytime I hear it, I think of Willow crying, Giles leaving, Dawn upset about Tara and Willow, Tara leaving and Buffy and Spike smooching. Oh yes, my mind gets full of Buffy feelings when I hear it. *sigh* good ol Buffy!
i thought the song captured the moment perfectly, and I agree about the acoustic version being the better choice - it leant a haunting sadness to the montage that the more commercial version would have missed. Plus Michelle Branch has an amazing voice for carrying emotion across.

Thats so funny you mention it because Michelle Branch had been my favorie singer just before I saw that episode and I was just like "Michelle branch in BUFFY!?" HAHA! and its officially become one of my favorite songs. whenever I hear it it reminds me of willow and tara.....awww. I was just listening to it on my way home from school about 10 minutes ago!

It's probably one of the only times in Buffy that I've actually appreciated song usage, so it must be good!
I didn't know that it was Michelle Branch due to my utter lack of knowledge of mainstream music but now I do and I think I may download it!

Looking back on it I think it was a great choice, the only other song thats ever made me feel that sad is 'hallelujah' by Jeff Buckley, which I don't think would have fitted.

The first season had some great music.
Dashboard Prophets - Ballad For Dead Friends, Wearing Me Down, All You Want
Far - Job's Eyes
Velvet Chain - Strong, Treason
Kim Richey - Let The Sun Fall Down
Sophie Zelmani - I'll Remember You
Patsy Cline - I Fall To Pieces
Jonatha Brooke & The Story - Inconsolable
The other seasons had some great music too in places, but Season One in particular.
Definately, Season 1 was superior in the music choices, i think for every episode there was always at least one song where I thought, yep, buying that album.
that song was perfect for the end!
i love michelle branch and the song!
it all fit so well! =)

The absolutely perfect choice. The lyrics, the acoustics... everything. It really, really fits.
