Okay my question is does anyone hate season 3 of Angel. Now be minded when i say that I'm not saying that I hate it because that's my favorite season. Its just that i read in a thread on the season 4 forum someone mentioned they didn't like season 3. The only bittersweet moments of it was knowing after i watched all the seasons that cordy wouldn't be the same coming into season 4 besides seeing her on the higher powers we dont see any of the cordy we all came to love.

I loved most of season 3, but Connor's arrival kind of ruined the end of it. Aside from that, I loved it. Plus, there are so many huge things that happen. Angel falls for Cordy, Fred joins the gang, Cordelia becomes part-demon and ascends to a higher plane, Wesley betrays Angel...oh, and Daddy!Angel is just about the cutest thing ever.
So, yeah. This season was awesome. My second favorite, right after season 5.

I liked Season 3. Daddy Angel is the cutest thing ever! I love Fred, so love to see her integrated into the group. Not feeling the Cordelia/Angel relationship, but I can overlook it :)

Oh another thing why didn't some people like the cordy and angel relationship. Okay I must admit at first I hated their relationship because I was stuck on the bangel thing. But then I realized that love though pure it was immature and too perfect but cordy and angel was soooo normal in a sense. Baby Conner was without a mom and Cordy took on that position even after he grew up(Benediction). I also took into prespective while angel and buffy where good buffy had moved on twice first riley then spike. Angel deserved to be happy and Cordy to me made the perfect choice. I mean look at them in Provider and the final scene of that episode just perfect they look like such a happy family.

I'm just not a fan of Cordelia, and I didn't like the Angel/Cordy relationship b/c it seemed....idk forced maybe? Even their friendship seemed fake to me, like if those two characters existed in real life, they would never have been friends. I was stuck on Bangel when I started watching AtS too, so maybe that's why it just seemed so wrong for Cordy & Angel to be hanging out, but you're right, Buffy moved on, and Angel should have been able to also. I didn't mind in Season 5 when he dated Nina, but just Cordy & Angel is ewww to me.

I did not hate it.
In fact, Angel really grew on me this season. I loved Daddy Angel. I was sort of rooting for Cangel. Fred and Gunn were crazy cute. There was a lot to like... then it all went to Hell in a handbasket.

I LOVE season3. And I love Cangel. And Cordelia and Angel. Well, I guess it's clear why I like this season. I can't understand how anyone wouldn't.
I mean, what's not to like? This season had the best episodes. I especially liked the Darla storyline, and of course everything Cangel. And that the season had a lot of Lilah (and the Weslah interaction at the end was just amazing).
And even without the great storylines, the season also had great standalone episodes, like carpe noctem. Or Waiting in the Wings (although I guess that's Cangel again, huh?)
Another person who loved Season 3 here, everything from the addition of Fred to the cast, Darla's story arc, Holtz as a villain, the flashbacks and little Connor. It was one of the shows best seasons.
Another really solid season. Season 2 was the first season that really hung well together and this definitely continues the trend. Angel continues his humanist path and lives a relatively 'human' life. Interestingly this season parallels with Buffy's Season 6 where the isolation of young adulthood is most prevalent, however in meanwhile Ats explores the concept of isolation meeting family. Angel literally has his own offspring and he begins to explore a type of love that is not distructive (as he believed his relationship was with Buffy) but something that is slow burning, something that can be built upon.
This follows on with his relationship with Cordelia: a love born out of friendship whereby she becomes stabilising influence on him.
Holtz is a wonderful villain who as it turns out was a champion like Angel before Angelus got him. He was champion who failed to protect his family and Angel has to be a champion while protecting his. The complex relationship he shared with Connor was compelling to watch (althogh many may not agree.) It sounds odd to say but dispite the abuse and nelgect and the resentment he passed on to him, I actually believe Holtz and Connor loved one another.
Seeing Angel as the goofy dad was just perfect. It gave him new dimensions and after a season where he felt the darkness rising inside of him, this gave us wonderful juxtaposition forcing us to be challenged by the character as he too faces life's obstacles. This is why he's my favourite character, I can never take anything he does for granted. Each season, he surprises me, captivates my attention challenges the perception I have of him without anything feeling forced or out of character. Forget each season; each episode.
The beginnings of DarkWes, great. Beginnings of adult Connor, also great,(Benediction is one of the best episodes of any of the Seasons)
What didn't I like?
James and Elizabeth, otherwise known as the poor mans Spike and Dru. Yes, we get the concept of the subjectivity of love (and ok I always reference them when talking about vampires and love) but make them a little more exciting.
The list of exceptional stand alones/standouts include Waiting in the Wings, Billy and Carpe Noctem, even though Carpe Noctem has some crap elements, it's enjoyable.
Skip was great!
Gunn and Fred were ok apart of the horrible episode based on their relationship: Double or Nothing. This and a few other eps reminded us that Gunn maybe was cool before he met the gang. What I mean is that after the excellent parable on reverse racism that is That Old Gang of Mind (but it wasn't too preachy, parable's really the wrong word now that I think of it), Gunn was made a little dull. Thank God he this was made up for in the next two seasons.
Birthday is great in terms of arc but I just don't find it as enjoyable as the other eps.

I loved Season 3. Ok first of all, I'm all for Cangel - so maybe a little biased. Right from the beginning, it all felt so idk, 'perfect'... The first episode 'Heartthrob' was great. I thought it was a really great way for Angel to (in a sense - sorry Bangel) put Buffy behind him, since he hadn't yet. I mean the whole Darla thing in S2 was more obsession than anything real - he never loved her, and he hadn't yet moved on, whereas by now, Buffy was about ready to jump on Spike... pfft. The Cangel relationship seemed a whole lot more realistic for me, as friends often do become lovers, mortal enemies is more a TV thing =)
I liked 'That Vision Thing', it sorta showed Lilah at her worst (or best lol). I loved 'Carpe Noctem' - HILARIOUS!
I think that Fred was a great character, she made everything interesting, and I think her integration into the core group was great. The episode with her parents was great too.
I really enjoyed the Darla arc, I think that in those few episodes she found redemption. In sacrificing herself for Connor, I think she was redeemed.
The Gunn, Wes and Fred triangle was great, we were able to really get involved in the 'normalness' of their lives (I'm referring to the normal, everday situations). I didn't like the fact that Gunn and Wes lost their bond they shared in late S2 though..
I loved Birthday, I think it's one of the best Angel episodes ever made. Skip was hilarious. Also, I'm a sucker for all the 'what if?' stuff and the alternate reality stuff. Also, a very big step for Cordy's character, sacrificing her humanity to help Angel.. 2 seasons before I can recall her saying something like "Demons, I can't think of anything more disgusting". For all she knew she'd wake up with horns and scales, but still, she accepted it in the blink of an eye. As I said, this was a great episode for Cordy's character development.
'Waiting in the Wings' was good standalone. I enjoyed it. It was something different - like OMWF, that kept the season from dragging to much (like S4).
Holtz was good, and I liked Justine. I felt I could relate to them in a way, as their motives were humane. I felt sorry for them, and I think that that's what made me like them.
All the drama and suspense when Wesley stole the baby and it got sucked into Quortoth was great. I liked the way Angel went a little dark again straight after Connor was stolen from him (eg. doing black magick to kill Sahjan). The broodiness that followed, I didn't love so much - but it's to be expected, the guy lost his son.
I think 'Double or Nothing' was also great, it shed a little light on Gunn's character, strengthened Funn (or Gred? both sound yuck lol, lets just say Gunn and Fred's relationship.) and really got back to the basics of saving people etc.
Wes and Lilah were great.. I really wish she hadn't been killed and was instead somehow integrated into S5, i loved her and I loved their relationship, I never like Fred and Wesley together.
'The Price' was great too.. good to see Cordy had some power behind her.
Okay, the last three episodes were not the best close of all seasons, I admit, but they were still good episodes. I was just mad that Lorne was leaving cuz of Connor, and that Connor was such an @sshole to everybody... I know I'm a Cangel shipper, but I'm kinda glad that they didn't get to meet that night, because I know Joss wouldn't have let them live 'happily ever after', and I'm sure that it would have all crumbled. I think it's better that they had their little moment in 'You're Welcome'.
Anyway, big long post that says "I LOVED SEASON THREE" =)

It starts off on such a high note, everyone is safe, happy, has the whole world in front of them, sky's the limit, and at the end of the season everyone has had the piss taken out of them.
Tragedies are the least apprecaited art form in the world now, and my favorite- S3 was magnificent.

Season three was one for the weaker seasons, but still great. Angel having a child was awesome.

One of the best Seasons. Loved Fred, Cangel, Holtz, Darla, baby Connor etc. It had some of the best episodes of the whole show too and a great whole arc too.
Just adult Conner put a downer on it for me a little though, thats all.

I enjoyed Season 3, but in hindsight, I sort of wish Connor hadn't come back, as I hated Season 4, and the massive part that he played in it.
But no, I don't hate it, it had some great plot twists and I love Darla, so was glad she was written back in too. Although, so NOT a Cangel fan.
How anyone can hate a single episode of the magnificence that is AtS is beyond me.

You know one other thing and even I have to admit it when the Cangel relationship first started. I didn't like it because in my head for some reason I felt like Angel couldn't be with anyone else but Buffy, yet I didn't mind Buffy being with Riley. Also I think the reason some people didn't like the Cangel thing because it was kinda like if buffy were to date Xander. And when i say that I mean Buffy had Xander and Willow while Angel had Cordy and Wes and for either group of friends to date each was a little eww for some me not being apart of the some.

I LOVE S3!!
It doesn't quite measure up to S5, which has some of the best episodes in the show's entire run, but tho S3 doesn't really have any standout "great" eps (other than "Waiting in the Wings"), it's just one long run of really good, solid ones (other than "Provider").
For all the discussion of what a morally-ambiguous nemesis Jasmine was, and "was she really even evil?", she doesn't even compare to Holtz in that area. Holtz was a good man that I don't think you can be anything but sympathetic to, for having his whole family killed by Angelus and Darla, and his daughter turned (forcing him to kill her), and I believe Keith Szarabajka turns in one of the best performances on either show in portraying him. And tho normally the best bad guys in the Joss-verse are the ones with senses of humor, which Holtz most certainly didn't have, Sahjhan gave him that sort of wacky demon sidekick for awhile that was a lot of fun.
Fred joined the cast full-time this year. Lilah and Gavin were hysterical in their seething hatred for one another. Wesley's character arc takes probably its biggest turn of the series toward the end of the season. Grown-up Connor, in being so conflicted, shows flashes of being a great character (which was sadly ruined in S4). There's dancing Summer. ::love:: And there's that goofy guy from Pylea who likes Cordy who shows up again, I can't really remember his name, but he was pretty cool.
Overall, it comes in just slightly behind S5 as my favorite season. If it had even just two or three more "great" episodes, it'd probably be my favorite.

s3 was good but conner is just a crap character and it was the beginning of the end for cordy. this was tha season i began to think ''go away cordelia''.
BUT, Holtz and wes and fred and lorne were all on top form. its the 2nd best angel season. season 4 is the worst. it was actually quite forgetable

I enjoyed Season 3, but in hindsight, I sort of wish Connor hadn't come back, as I hated Season 4, and the massive part that he played in it.
But then the whole Batman & Robin motif would have been lost!
Boy-wonder indeed.
Season 4... yeah. I think it might have been much more interesting if everyone thought "TPTB" had sired Jasmine through Cordelia as a "divine birth".
After all, she traded her "future" for Angel in The House Always Wins, so she was technically screwed from then on anyway.
Some of the father/son angst would have been lost, but I think it might have played out similarly in any event if Connor spirited Cordelia away much like Holtz did as "protection" from his "big-bad daddy vampire". The whole 'I see Jasmine for what see really looks like and it doesn't bother me' reveal was pretty much wasted potential anyway; all so that her blood had no effect on him to exaggerate yet another betrayal of Angel. Big deal. A lot of thin story for little return.

Hate S-3? Oh good-evil no! I loved Angel as a daddy (the eppy when he gets Connor little hockey sticks....OMG! loved it!) and I loved Cordy becoming a higher power thing & the ultimate growing darkness fo Wes. It was a great season.
