Uhm, yeah, that's one of the episodes I usually skip when watching Buffy. It's just kinda boring. I think the main aspect of this is that nobody of the Scoobies was like really involved in the storyline. We had Scott and his friends. Scott we didn't know anything about except he and Buffy were dating for 2 episodes. So there wasn't really a connection to anybody else. Sure, there was the werewolf Oz thing but that was more in the background.
Okay, rereading the text I just wrote I get a bit confuse, not so eloquent today, sorry.

This is not one of my favorite episodes, but I do like two parts of it.
1) Oz is always so laid back and even-keeled. However, when Pete won't listen to reason and he keeps beating on Oz, we actually see Oz get angry. He sees the sun go down, and he actually looks happy when he says "Time's up, the rules have changed" before turning into a werewolf and attacking Pete.
2) Angel has been basically incoherent in the first 3 episodes. We don't know if Buffy is reaching him at all when she is taking care of him of if he even recognizes/cares about her. However, when she's in danger at the end of the episode, we finally see that Angel still cares about Buffy. He jumps in and kills the "man" that's attacking her.
Other than those things, I don't take much out of the episode.

This is not an episode that particularly stands out for me. It did kinda drag. And if I'm to skip any in season 3, this one would be it.
It's just we go into some characters that we don't really know and we weren't allowed much of a conection to them so we were unable to grieve when they died. We just thought 'Oh, okay'.
I did like how Scott and Debbie's story did kinda reflect what was going on with Buffy and Angel. Angel had been as abusive as Scott, in fact had been way more abusive what with the killing and the torture and he had come back as a wild murderous animal, but despite all that Buffy still wanted to believe that Angel was in there no matter how much of a risk keeping him was to everyone else.
And I did absolutely adore that scene after Angel kills Pete and Buffy is clearly worried he's going to turn on her and he sees her properly and the animal fades away as he gasps 'Buffy' and drops to his knees wrapping his arms around her tightly. And the wave of emotion that we see come over Buffy at this contact it's just...wonderful.
That scene makes me cry everytime!
Oh and I love this scene
"Giles: [Getting mad] And how long did you rest your eyes for?
Xander: A little now...a little then...[...] and he was there in the morning when I- [falters] when I-
Giles: [All kinds of mad] WOKE UP?!"
Also
"[Willow and Oz walk in]
Giles: Good morning, no reason to panic.
Oz: Just a thought? Poker? Not your game"
And then when Buffy has the tranq gun
"[Buffy aims at Pete]
Debbie: Look out!
[She shoves Buffy just as she pulls the trigger. The tranq dart hits Giles]
Buffy: Ooh! Sorry!
Giles: [Crashing to the floor unconscious] Bloody priceless!"
Actually, Giles was more fantastic than usual in this episode. Haha

I don't dislike this episode, but it wasn't one of the strongest of Season 3. I also love the scene at the end when Angel drops to his knees and says "Buffy". The look of shock & happiness & fear all mixed together on Buffy's face makes it even more emotional. I also liked all of the Oz stuff, cuz I love Oz, he's great :) Giles was funnier than usual in this episode too. Gotta love Giles.

I forgot the funny bits in this ep! Maybe I do need to watch it again, but I have to agree with the general opinion that it's not one of the better episodes, it drags a little and as I tend to think Scott Hope is as interesting as dry playdough, this episode never really grabbed me as anything special. But, it's not totally terrible, the moments with Oz and Angel and the man/beast parallels between all the guys is interesting and comes into context as late as S4 so underlying themes are all good!

First of all, I loved the reading from Call of the Wild in the first scene, and the ending. It was just sad and now reminds me of the painful things to come for both Buffy and Willow for falling in love with men who will always hear a different world calling to them, even if it would be in different circumstances for Angel and Oz.
The tone was sad but there were, as always funny moments where I really felt relieved. When Cordy appeared behind Xander in the morgue was hilarious.
Xander (to Cordy): We're doing crime here. You don't sneak up during crime.
And another sneaking situation which was more painful was Buffy getting a royal smack from Faith in the library. Well just a little internal bleeding. Lol
I am trying to forget Debbie and her Jeckyll and Hyde guy. I am also trying to forget poor Scott.
Through all this I was really feeling so bad for Buffy, again. Here's Angel again, and she was in such a turmoil like, " what am I going to do with you, my love?"
But before I got any more depressed, the ever fabulous Cordelia saved the day with her,
Cordy: Great. Now I'm going to be stuck with serious thoughts all day.

im going to do some standing up for this episode, since most of you guys have been voicing moderate dislike of it, if not extreme. i can agree that its not one of the top episodes, but i had much enjoyment when watching it :).
for one, there are the funny parts, which pretty much you guys have mentioned (i was going to post the first two quotes joyce has up there :p).
also, i want to add that i agree with nabila about the 'call of the wild' part at the beginning. has anyone actually read that book, because i remember hearing somewhere that that passage was not actually in there, and now im kind of curious if it is or not, and if not, why would it just have been made up?
it has some cute willow/oz stuff in it, like how excited she is that he isnt the killer, and that little hoppy thing she does when she goes over to stand next to him . plus, there's so little oz gets to do, and i liked how he was featured prominently in this one. also the drama-heavy bangel stuff, with angel coming back and all.
the morgue scene was funny too. i thought it was interesting how willow carried all her tools in what looked like a lunchbox. not sure if it was to be inconspicuous, or just because thats what she had to carry it in on hand. did anyone catch what the design was?
i kind of felt bad for debbie and how broken she was; i mean, i didnt like her really, but i still thought it sucked how much she thought she was the one doing something wrong, and still wanted to protect pete. it seemed almost inevitable that she would die.
hm, what else? well, i dont really like scott that much, but i kind of felt bad for him. i mean, he wasnt a bad guy, and he and buffy barely got to have a relationship. it lasted, what? two episodes? i know angel's back and everyone was probably excited about that, so the writers just took she and scott apart fast as they stuck 'em together, but he seemed like he didnt even last long enough to be a rebound guy. i dont know, i think im rambling :silly:.
oh, and i wonder what would have happen if pete hadnt killed the guidance counsellor. what would buffy had said to him? would he appear in more episodes?

That actually suprised me a bit in this episode.
Was Buffy actually going to tell him about the vampire - slayer stuff?
And would he ever believed that? or would he recommend putting Buffy (back) to some institution?
Maybe she would manage to talk around that, and still getting the point about having a secret boyfriend that was, well, a bit crazy...
Guess we will never know...

I never understood why they thought oz might have been responsible for the murder. He was there in the morning when xander woke up. Window open, but i just don't buy that the wolf would go on a killing spree and then head on home for a nap. A wild animal caged, heads back to it's cage? Me don't think so.

the ending always restored my faith in bangel, i cry every time angel saves her and hugs her legs at the end (im not sarcasming at all)
