Charisma - pregnant?

Does anyone know the reason behind why Charisma Carpenter was written out of "Angel?" I was thinking that maybe she had become pregnant in real life and she decided to leave, but don't have any info to confirm or refute that. Anybody know?

I'm a new fan, and have been watching the two series on DVD. I am two episodes away from the series finale of "Angel." Yippee!

Yup, I think she was written out of the show because of her pregnancy. And I think I've read somewhere that she herself didn't want to come back for another season because she wanted something new.

The reason she was written out was because she didn't tell anyone she was pregnant, which meant that everything from S4 had to be re-written in a matter of weeks, because Charisma couldn't do any of the physical fighting scenes with David.

If she had let Joss and Co. know earlier on, perhaps they could have kept Cordy around.

I've heard that they weren't too happy with her about her Playboy (?) photoshoot, either.

Well, her pregnancy really put a whammy on S4. It still drives me nuts. It's so oddly written because of it.
There is a chance, she also didn't WANT to go right back to work full time after the baby. It's an odd type show. Not like regular shows where you might be able to drag your baby to work.
And she got like ME when I was pregnant. Bug poofy face and she packed on quite a few pounds. Just the idea of giving birth and losing the weight, and retoning the muscle to be back at work full time in 3 months is only a little daunting.
