I have always wondered why they decied to get rid of Doyle and put in Wesley when the only thing he did on Buffy was be a little bitch about everything, i mean i really like Doyle on the show and it would have been really kool to see more about his character and it became bigger.
So can some one tell me why did the get rid of Doyle and bring in Wesley?? I need to know.

I think it was always planned that Wesley would come into the show but i have heard others suggest that Glenn Quinn's off camera habits did nothing to help his cause to stay on the show.

Rumor has it Glenn was fired because he was a heroin (?) addict. He did later die of an overdose. I don't know about the Wesley thing, though, but I think it worked out well, all things considered.

Wesley is awesome. 'Nuff said.
Alexis/Wes was an absolute gem in Angel and they couldn't have taken Doyle to quite the same dark and light places that Wesley's character was able to go to, so I'm quite happy with the changeover. I loved Doyle/Glenn Quinn, and wish he could have had more screen time, but real life interfered and we couldn't get that, so at least we have the awesome 9 (?) episodes to keep his character alive.

I like Wesley's transformation in Angel. He went from this nerdy, stuck-up stiff dude to a gun-toting, demon hunter that he was trying to be in the first season of Angel. His character change was just awesome and almost, I'll say again almost, comparable to Spike's transformation. So overall, I'm glad Wesley showed up.
With that being said, the thing I liked about Doyle was it gave us a character who had not been introduced yet and wasn't linked to Buffy. It gave the series that separation. With Wesley on there all three of the gang were directly linked to Buffy. I know it's a spin-off but it was nice to have that distinction. They added Gunn later on but I never really liked his character anyways...

Wesley was great in Angel. Why question the decision of god?..................okay Joss Whedon but not far off.

I liked Doyle, but... I loved Wes! His transformation was awesome. I won't lie. I sometimes wish we could have seen what would have happened with Doyle as he explored his demon and human sides or with the Doyle/Cordy relationship. Even so, I wouldn't change Wes' influence on the show for the world. Wes very well may have been my favorite character on Angel.
The question about why not Glenn Quinn and his character has already been answered. The question about why Wes? I'm gonna say it's because they could take Wes on a truly amazing journey. They took him from annoying comic relief on Buffy to a truly complex and engaging character on Angel. With that kind of opportunity before them, how could they refuse?

Honestly i think From what i heard, Glenn was fired due to the drug related stuff.... but I'm pretty sure Wesley was transfered to Angel because of his relationship with Alyson Hannigan i believe i may be wrong but

I always heard it was because of glenns habits and also at the time I just thought it was an attempt to link the show more with buffy and attract more of the unconverted buffy fans

Angel needed an antithesis and that was Wes. He and Doyle blundered their way through. They needed a brainy research guy that could insert some levity.

Yeah, but the really good thing about Dolye was that he had the demon underworld contacts and street smarts that Wes didnt get until later in gthe show which i thought could have been interresting to go into more

I also wish they kept Glenn Quinn on the show. I also think Alexis Denisof's acting career was ruined working on Angel. I think if Joss killed off Wesley on Buffy, Alexis would still be working today with a healthy acting career!
