Alright I hope I'm not the only fan of seeing this but if only it had been. I'm talking about season 4 of Angel and how it was said that Angel and Cordelia was suppose to fight I just can't help thinking about how awesome that would have been. To have the women he loved to attempt to kill him I think it had great potential. Also do you think you all would have loved season 4 more if it had went the way it was suppose to. I mean at least we wouldn't have had any of that connor and cordy lovey dovey stuff. And another thing after this season was it planned for Cordy's character to be put in a coma anyways and not be apart of the fifth season or was it due to her pregnancy. Okay one last thing I read somewhere the writer's wrote her out because they didn't know what else to do with her. But come on Willow tried to destroy the world but they still had a place for her Cordy was possessed not her fault. I mean the show is about redemption why not give cordy a fair try a redeeming herself.

She was written out beause she didn't tell anyone about her pregnancy, as far as I know.
And yes, I think I would've enjoyed s4 a lot more with the original plot. I mean, I love Cordy, I love Cangel, and in the actual s4 they kinda screwed both a bit.

She was not written out because of her pregnancy. Do you really believe that Joss would do something like that? What proof do you have that she didn't tell him immediately? Joss said there was nothing more to do with her character.

Edit:

Just because one person said it doesn't make it true. I really doubt it is true. And I know that there are a lot of formerly pregnant tv actresses out there who didn't immediately tell the show's producers about their pregnancy. Gillian Anderson, who played Scully on The X-files didn't immediately tell Chris Carter that she was pregnant. She was afraid she might get in trouble and she told David Duchovny about it before Chris.

I'm rewatching Angel at the moment for the first time since it aired. Am coming to the end of season 1 and, as a die hard Cangel, am loving seeing Cordy & Angel gradually get closer. However, am also getting really grumpy & sad when I think about Season 4, and how it all gets spoilt! I can forgive the writers a lot, because as a whole I love the Buffyverse so much, but I hated the Season 4 Connor/Cordy/Jasmine thing and have never quite got over what they did to Cordy & Angel.

I don't expect a happy relationship ending (this is the Buffyverse after all*), but it would have been nice to see Cordy & Angel properly together and happy for a few episodes at least, before something came along and ruined it. Perhaps Cordy could have been "triggered" a few episodes after returning from the "higher plain" and gradually turned into the big bad. Then Angel would have to face the same kind of situation Buffy did with Angel/us in Season 2.

I might just plan this alternative season 4 & 5 in my head. Which could actually be the I'm-too-obsessed-with-the-Buffyverse sign I've been watching out for.

*thinking about it, has any Buffyverse relationship ever worked out? Off the top of my head, can't think of one.

And I guess that's my biggest problem I know I'm not a writer so I dont know how those types of things work and what it takes to write for a character. But to be fair they did all these things to Cordelia and when they didn't like what happened they decided to drop her I mean it's not fair to the die hard Cordelia fans out there. And yes I'm happy they gave her a great send off but Cordelia's been there from the very beginning. Maybe it's just me but I think she deserved more than being placed in a coma and coming back only to die soon after. Also the whole premise of angel was redemption and atoning for past sins so it seems to me that would have been the perfect time to reestablish that virtue in the eye's of the viewers by bring cordy back. They said they couldn't do anymore with Cordy yet Willow attempted to kill her friends and destroy the world and she was given a chance to make things right shouldn't Cordy have been given the same opportunity especially considering that it wasn't her but a higher being who used her up and left her comatose.

Edit:

And one more little thing it's really sad knowing the last time the Cordy who had her memory and was in love with angel spoken with him was in "Tomorrow". Any other time she was either on a higher plane or with out her memory and when it finally came back her sub-conscious was sub-merged and her body was taken over by a renegade higher power.

Do you think maybe that Charisma Carpenter wanted to be at home with baby rather than work?
And im struggling to think of what her role would have been in S5.
I think Cordy was good in seasons 1 & 2, but the end of 3 & all of 4 there wasnt really a place for her anymore.
She didn't do anything!

Well in a interview after having her baby before(Your'e Welcome) Charisma agreed to come back for guest starring roles and considering since she did You're Welcome she kept her word. The thing is everyone keeps saying there wouldn't have been a place for mostly about her demeanor in You're welcome but had she been season 5 that episode wouldn't have been done. When they brung her back she didn't have to have her demon or vision abilities they could have said the powers brung her back purely as human. And over the course of season 5 regained those abilities IF nessacary they could have found some place for her made as some kind of counsel or whatever I think incorporating her some where could have worked it did for the most part in You're Welcome.

I could see Cordelia doing Lorne's job in Wolfram and Heart.

I remember back during the end of S4, Charisma saying she was surprised by basically being written off of the show and she didnt have any intention on leaving the show until Joss wrote her off saying he felt he had done everything he could for the charecter.

Im sure there are some articles or quotes lying somewhere on the net.
