The Dark Horse title is Hellboy/BPRD. And there's All Star Superman, a great book.

They should get Joss to write a one-shot for next year's. Only available on that day. That'd put the event on the map.

That day was the day when I arrived back in the country so didn't really bother checking it out.
Slightly off topic but I noticed that the comic store in Sydney I order from has a link now to Buffy,Angel and Serenity comics right on the front index page. Very handy for people like me, cause that's all I'm looking for.

Like several other members of the Board, I have subscriptions to comics from TFAW, who recently had a "Free Comic Day." I was just curious...did everyone get the same "Superman" comic, or were there different titles. Also, for anyone who might be a regular reader of "Superman," is Superman drawn like that pretty consistently like this now? (I mean, how heavy set he is. He looks more like a power lifter than the much more slender superhero I remember from my youth.I noticed that Perry White was drawn pretty much the same way, so it might just be the artist's style. And, what's with Jimmy Olsen and his "wrist TV?" In my day, all he had was a watch that he could call Superman with if he got into trouble.

Sorry, I didn't realize that there already was a thread with this same title that answered my question.

No problem WA...I've merged the threads. Actually, I'm not sure that your Superman questions have been answered, so here goes...

It's a number of years since I've bought any Superman books but I have noticed that he is being depicted as more muscular in the ones I've seen recently...I'm not sure but it may have started with Alex Ross's Kingdom Come, however I could easily be wrong...not a brilliant answer I know but it's the only one I've got without research :)

As for Jimmy's watch...I haven't seen the new version but I fondly remember his signal watch that emitted a frequency that only Superman could hear. I suppose a "wrist TV" is probably as cutting-edge in regard to watch technology today as a "signal watch" was in my youth. Then again, it could just be a nod to Dick Tracy comics :)

I'm not sure which comic I'd have chosen if I hadn't missed the day...it would be a toss-up between Supes, The Simpsons and the EC horror sampler.

I got the first TPB of that All Star Superman title, cos it's gotten raves all over the place. It actually feels pretty old-fashioned despite a modern setting. It's funny, touching at times. It's a lot of standalone stories, mixed in with a Lex Luthor arc. It doesn't have anything to do with regular DC continuity as far as I know—which is great, if you don't know much about the comics.
