Grunge
Rock
Rap
Hip Hop
Old school MC (Like Public Enemy)
Dance
Drum and bass
Rarely but sometimes a few pop songs like Adele etc

Yeah I know what you mean. I have friends that love heavy metal and because of this fact they refuse to listen to anything else. Which I wouldnt mind but they insult some of the band/artists that I listen to just because its a rapper or pop star, gets really annoying.

Erm I mentioned this before but Listen to Radio 1 at 7pm till 9pm monday to thursday the Zane Lowe show. He plays new music from all genres its a great show. Also I can recommend Annie Mac on Friday 9pm-11pm for dance and drum and bass.

Well, I like rock because I like rock. I'm not like the people you're talking about, I just don't like rap, pop, or most commercial stuff. It's not like I blatantly hate these for no reasons, I just don't like them. I've heard this stuff, and I'm just not a fan of it. So really, in my opinion, I'm DEFINITELY not missing out...

I mainly listen to progressive rock. I love bands like Yes, Rush, Genesis, and Pink Floyd.

But I listen to everything, really. Classic rock, psychedelic rock, alternative rock, hard rock, heavy metal, punk rock, pop punk, Motown, classical, jazz...I'm open to everything. Although I can't say I'm a fan of rap (a very select few rap artists are tolerable) or country.

Out of the categories listed, though, I'll go with rock.

It's not exactly the most comprehensive list of genres so I voted other. I don't think I would really listen to any of the genres that are on that list. If I'm going to listen to music it's either pop punk, punk rock, alternative indie, ska or hardcore. I always find this question incredibly annoying as even if those genres were on the list I definitely couldn't choose between them. *sigh*

I listen to mostly metal and hard rock, though I also enjoy Celtic, showtunes, and instrumental/classical. I wouldn't say I'm ecclectic, as I can't stand most of the mainstream music I hear (I try to give everything some sort of chance), but I'm at both ends of the spectrum. Depends on my mood and what I'm doing. Some favorite artists are Disturbed, Godsmack, Within Temptation, Dope, Korn, Stone Sour, Seether, Sarah McLachlan, and Breaking Benjamin.

My music taste is so eclectic I usually define it by what I don't like: rap, hip-hop, country, bluegrass, and that really screamy heavy metal (like Pantera).

I don´t understand people who just listen to one kind of music. Well, I do but that´s way to boring for me. It really depends on my mood. Metal works fine then I´m angry, turn up the music and let the aggression get out instead of going out looking for a fight or smash something up. Partying with metal? I guess it´s kinda works with the "lighter" versions but I prefer something else. My feet wants to move! To bad I can´t dance. Coming home from work in the summer or spring, go out on the balcony (in the shadow of course), open a beer (I´m not much of a drinker otherwise) and listen to opera is unbelievable relaxing. Just to give som exampels.

Some of my favourite artists are: Nightwish, Within temptation, Point of grace, Metallica, Shainia Twain, Cardigans, Depeche Mode, Lil Kim, Dream theater, Beyonce/Destiny´s child and an old swedish band called Gyllene Tider (with the male singer from Roxette if anyone remembers them?). And I listen to soundtracks and classical as well. Going nostalgic with 80´s music happens a lot too. But my computercollection contains everything from Weird Al Yankovic, through West life, Eminem and Rammstein to Paul Potts.

I went for rock, pop, country and other ('cos I couldn't see reggae/ska :)) but I really can't think of a musical genre I don't like. There are bands and singers I'm not keen on but I mostly recognise that they're good at what they do. I suppose if I were forced to chose just one...well, it all comes back to rock...my favourite bands have to be Led Zeppelin and The Clash, which kind of dates me I guess :)

ska..... i love soundtracks, some rap/hip hop stuff but either the obvious as i have no knowledge in that area or old school 80s stuff, rock in all forms (mostly old school rock tho, cant really be doing with the pants out now, not that theres not the odd song i like... but i really am an oldie when it comes to rock music) and oh country, the music of pain (actually have been getting into folk stuff, trying to expand from what i usually listen to so i like horns in my ska and fiddles in my folk) LOL

Pop -- Not the dumb bubble gum pop, though. Stuff like Colbie Calliat (if you define her as pop).
Rock -- Not the hardcore rock stuff. The...er, mellow rock?

I can listen to any type of music really even dance and trance as long as its pre-2000. You know before it just became some high pitched voice being really annoying.

My favourite type of music though is pretty much anything under the rock genre. I love female vocalists as well.
