Anybody else see more than a little of Angel in that? Looks good.

Wow, it's great, people gotta love that show! And Eliza/Echo speaking Spanish was a little weird, lol, I hope they don't do that a lot, I don't speak any Spanish.

Creepiness. Ass-kicking. Eliza Dushku. Joss Whedon. Foo Fighters.

I think I might just die of excitement.

Just watched it again, the scene right after Echo is speaking Spanish is totally the scene from Graduation Part 1 where Buffy and Faith face off in her apartment, when she backhands Buffy across the face.

This was what I was dreading.

I find myself rather underwhelmed.

I'm intrigued. This looks good and I can't wait for it to come out. Eliza Dushku is one of my favorite actresses from the Buffy-verse and with Joss Whedon behind the helms it's sure to be a success. I just hope FOX doesn't get stupid like they did with Firefly. My sniper rifle is aimed at them if they do... :fighting1

I think Adelle DeWitt (Olivia Williams) actually seems like the most interesting character, so far. Don't really get a sense of Eliza really stretching her acting range just based on this promo. I'm very psyched to see more though.

I guess this trailer is something they put together for the FOX upfronts presentation.

Ok, yeah, I want to live long enough to see this one.

What is Echo saying in Spanish?

What is Echo saying in Spanish?

Ok so she said:

"Muchachos, si arman bronca, les prometo mucha madre."

Its slangy, so I´ll have to break it down to explain it better.

Muchachos= Guys

Si arman bronca= If you start trouble/fighting

Les prometo= I promise you

Mucha madre= literally it means a lot of mother lol but it's street slang and its hard to understand the purpose of this phrase without knowing the context it's in but...

I'm guessing they want to "Partir madre" (Kick ass) so she's promising them a lot of it. (?) Could also be they have a sucky translator, as most shows usually have (the spanish spoken in Heroes was SO bad) will have to watch it to know!

Anyway CAN'T WAIT!

one more: thought of it and I think "mucha madre" could also mean "nothing" but in that case it would be a little bit wrong as we usually say "pura madre" again depends on the context its in, madre is a very common slang word that can mean anything!

I hope I'm wrong, but this is beginning to sound like "Fantasy Island" shown from the point of view of the F I staff instead of the guests.

*Jumps up and down* January you say? That's a bit far away...

Just watched it again, the scene right after Echo is speaking Spanish is totally the scene from Graduation Part 1 where Buffy and Faith face off in her apartment, when she backhands Buffy across the face.

Joss could kill us all and do what he did in the episode Normal Again, and tell us that all of Buffy is fake in one dream echo has :p Doubtful though. Maybe the person who created the trailer was a buffy fan :p

And it's no longer available for me. Bummer!

EDIT: I found it on youtube though. Here is a fresh one that is still available. Looks freakin amazing. Alias meets Angel meets something else I can't think of right now. :)

Boo, it's no longer available for me either. :( But I am still super excited about it!

Joss Whedon is a genius! And I've always liked Eliza Dushku. Yaaay! Something to feed my Buffy hunger... even if it's not really Buffy.

Thanks for finding that for me TabulaRasa, I was to late for the other one!

It looks interesting but I don't know how sold I'll be till I watch. Eliza isn't my favourite Buffyverse actress, but I would love to see her acting go beyond 'the slightly bad girl'. I'm just hoping it will be available in Australia in some form or another before 2010.

Wow how cool was that. It looks like so much fun, ty for the youtube link. The video I watched first was this one though http://seat42f.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2369&Itemid=9

Although I have to say, I hope they aren't using that papyrus font.. such a cliche. Graphic design complaint :p

Agreed. Papyrus can't be for the actual show. Totally inappropriate :) That made the promo feel kind of slapped together, amateurish to me. Maybe it was a nod to Serenity or something.

This other clip you found...very interesting scene with Paul and..."Miss Vickers". That's Echo's twin, or is it Echo...what's going on there? A good scene for Eliza. Fun, noirish music.

i dunno, it looks fan made from the beginning, which would explain the snippet from buffy. so this isn't actually a release from Fox, just a fan putting it together?

LittleMissLikesToFight

I dunno, i guess it just seemed so rushed together, especially the first version. maybe it was leaked too early. it looked like a bad editing job someone did on IMovie or something.

Maybe. Apparently other trailers kept getting pulled, so its possible we weren't supposed to see it yet.

LittleMissLikesToFight

Dollhouse - FOX's second trailer - Joss Whedon (http://www.dollverse.com/trailer/)

They seem to keep it up all the time there, high-ish quality too. Not sure if the Eliza scene is still available somewhere, it didn't tell us much anyway :p

Earlier in the thread someone said Joss was a douchebag...I kind of agree, I think he's a little full of himself, but I think when it comes to writing he's pretty much a genius, and I think "Dollhouse" looks like a real keeper...I think it could very easily become Joss's best series, just based on the trailers and what I've read...it seems a lot darker and more philosophical than his other stuff which I think is a good thing.

I really hope this can average something FOX can be happy with.

*dies of excitement*

I love it!

"This is going to be simply the most fascinating piece of television in the history of radio."

Also, the second trailer is still pretty poorly made. It was better than the first one, but still, not great (and the first one had much better music.) Times New Roman is better than Papyrus, but it's still pretty dang unprofessional. And they used that "Did I fall asleep?" clip twice again.

I just assumed that the "Did I fall asleep?" clip at the start and the end was to show how she keeps getting wiped, and it's happened so many times he doesn't bother coming up with a new response.

Randy Giles
06-15-2008, 08:10 PM
Yeah, I also think the "Did I fall asleep?" line is in there twice because it's in there more than once on the actual show.

And I really hope that the title screen for the show is NOT the one with the double image of Eliza...it's interesting and all but I don't like it. There's another one that was used in one of the trailers that has "Dollhouse" in a simpler, more elegant looking font...hope they go with that one. :) Just me being picky though.

I just watched this. I'm all looking forward to the sneaky Buffy/Faith scene, and it's not there anymore. :(

I saw this show advertised in this week's In Touch Magazine. So, hopefully that will give it some extra exposure.

I'm not sure whether to be bummed or happily creeped that the "house" looks suspiciously similar to WR&H.

I'm a little underwhelmed, but trailers rarely do much for me. Honestly, I think I would be MORE psyched if there were more Buffy/Angel people in the trailer...even if my head knows they shouldn't all be in the show. Does that make sense? Probably not.

I'm still psyched. I didn't like the "thought" of Buffy, Angel or Firefly when I first heard them either. They seemed stupid. So, the less interesting the trailer is, the more I seem to be interested in the show.

I'm just a pile of contradictions.

I'm interested to see where it's going to go. I mean it could bottom out and get canceled like Tru Calling or it could last for years like Buffy. I'm on the fence because I don't really know that much about the sort of show it is going to be... but I love Eliza so she should make it fun to watch.

It's a little weird going into this as a Whedon fan. I obviously started watching Buffy without any real idea of what sort of show he made and even with Angel and Firefly I was still only on the edge of the Whedon fandom as far as online stuff was concerned. This is the first Whedon show that I'm going to start watching with an expectation of it's quality.

This trailer being released as early as this is certainly an interesting idea. Kinda risky in it's own way. I mean just from this thread I've seen a split between those that love it and those that are sort of "meh!" about what they have seen. The danger of course being that six months down the line when the show finally airs there will be a good amount of potential fans that have already decided they can't be bothered with checking it out.

I'm walking the line between the two groups a little, if I'm honest. The show looks like it could be great and the writers and actors involved have certainly earned enough respect from me to want it to be a success. I worry a little that the show's basic premise may not lend itself to Joss' particular comedy/drama writing style but then I wasn't sold on Firefly straight away so what do I know? ;)

Basically, the trailer looks good. Show has potential. Joss is great and Eliza is one of the hottest and most underrated young actresses on television at the moment. I'll be there for the first episode.

The trailer being released this early is nothing out of the ordinary, the trailers for midseason shows usually are released right after upfronts the same as fall shows, if the midseason shows are announced *at* upfronts.

First thing I thought of as well. Second thought was that it seemed disturbingly similar to Dark Angel, a show I was never particularly crazy about.

I think I've grown accustomed to Whedon being synonymous with new and radical. This felt neither, but again it's just a trailer so I'll wait with the judging until I've actually seen it.

Well, its not looking as much as feeling. Genetical engineering mixed with that disguise element and all that jazz. Just triggers Dark Angel memories in my head.
