Ah, he was okay. To me he just didn't fit in the Buffy universe. Don't get me wrong, he was good for the 2 seasons he was in, but I think it was right to let him go.

"Love" is a bit strong for me, but I liked the character, and I thought that he was well portrayed. On the down side, I think that Oz could have done a lot more than he was allowed to do. Too often, he was just "in the scene," without really being used there. And that werewolf costume was the absolute WORST one that I ever saw. It looked like a shaggy hell hound, and they were completely laughable.

I liked Oz a lot, but since Tara replaced him I didnīt miss him that much. But in the first seasons he was great. And he has one of the best quotes ever,"I mock you with my monkey pants!"
Season 2-3: Absolutely great.
Season 4: Not that great.
Season 5-7: Didnīt miss him at all.
I think it was right to let him go.
Actually I think it was Seth who wanted to leave.

I LOVED Oz and i felt he fit in just fine. In fact, i liked him more than Tara. I think he really did love Willow. Circumstances just got so crazy... and he did the right thing in leaving for HER... and then he even came back for her, he was achanged man and came back to be with her.... i think thats love.

I liked Oz a ton. He may not have had many lines, but Seth knows how to act with his face and body language, so it's not like he was a lump. Besides, he's adorable and snuggly (except for 3 days a month), and who doesn't want at least some of that in a guy?

I adored Oz. From one of the first few lines we hear him say in Inca Mummy Girl 'Well it involves a feather boa and The Theme to A Summer Place. I can't discuss it here', I loved him. Plus he was the first person to realize the greatness that is Willow (While Xander remained entirely clueless till season three).
And he was just always shown as the sympathetic, warm, not afraid of his emotions guy that really, every girl wants just a little bit at least. I mean his Willow Kissage Speech in Innocence...did anyone else swoon at that? I thought Boy Who Cares Enough to Wait? Gimme!
And even though he was often quiet and so went unnoticed, any threats on Willow always brought him right to the fore which I always found amazing. Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered where he hits Xander is one instance/ He doesn't know what Xander did but he knows he upset Willow so he had the 'uncontrollable urge to hit' him. Also in Enemies when everyone is arguing over exchanging Willow for the box and Wesley is insisting that 'We have the means to destroy this box!' and Oz just sends the 'means' crashing across the room, destroying it. Clearly saying, without any words at all, that nothing is worth risking Willow.
And I loved Oz's very dry, larconic sense of humor. It was genius and always got a laugh out of me. I think something that really summed up Oz's way of thinking and his humor was in Earshot where we hear his very complicated zen thoughts concluding with 'We think, therefore she is'. And all we hear out loud is a typical Oz-like 'Huh'. And Oz was never afraid to mock himself, which made him all the more funny and appealing:
Xander: Your sarcastic voice is a lot like your normal voice
Oz: I've been told that.
Xander: I thought you nearly had an expression.
Oz: Well, I felt one coming on I won't lie.
And I did have a twinge of missage for him in I was Made to Love You when Xander said 'I need more male friends. I miss Oz. He'd get it. He wouldn't say anything, but he'd get it.'.
HOWEVER, I do think the timing was right when he left. It upset me both the first and second time he left, but the second hurt me a lot less because well...I had fallen in love with Tara. I wanted them both around actually. Maybe there's an untapped threesome there: Tara/Oz/Willow. Unlike the concept of many other Buffyverse threesomes I can see that one being kinda sweet and very loving. You know, as long as Oz doesn't like wolf out midway or anything coz that would be, erm, bad.
Also, I think what made a great appeal for Oz, was he was definitely one of the most feminized males in the series. I think it mentions that in the book 'Sex and the Slayer', actually.
Wait...I'll find the quote from the book for you guys (Because I'm just that helpful.). Ah, here we go:
"Oz is figured primarily as a love interest of one of the main characters (generally a female role) and was seen by some viewers as a successful paradigm of new masculinity, combining both 'masculine' and 'feminine' characteristics. Oz is often identified by his role as rock guitarist and is described in The Watcher's Guide Vol 2 as 'the defininiton of cool and composed'- two major factors in his appeal. In one way his habitual silence is a part of this cool composure and can be read as a trait of the 'old masculinity' (the strong silent type) yet at the same time it can be identified as a passive 'feminine' characteristic. From the beginning Oz was presented as sensitive and thoughtful, refusing to allow his relationship with Willow to develop until they were both ready. Kristine Sutherland, who plays Joyce Summers, remarks on the attractions of this "It was the scene in the van where she asks him to kiss her and he says 'I don't want to kiss you until you want to kiss me'. That is the kind of man that every woman is looking for" Once again, a new man is one who appears to be sensitive to a young woman's anxieties about relationships.
The connection between Oz's wolf cycle and the female menstrual cycle is explicitly referred to in 'Phases' and further feminizes Oz. Oz also proves that is possible to be both a nerd and 'more or less cool' (Xander, The Zeppo) or that social success need not be dependent on particular versions of masculinity. Of all the primary male characters on Buffy only Oz is a dissimilar physical type and an atypical male lead in that he is short and slightly built. This allows the show to present variants of masculinity even in appearance. On the whole Oz appears "very much at ease with his masculinity" and seems adaptable and free of the anxieties that plague other characters"
In short, rock on Oz. ;) Haha

I adored Oz. In fact, I don't think there are many people that didn't like Oz. As I rewatch the earlier seasons, I'm beginning to like him even more...he's so dry and sarcastic, yet caring. Who couldn't love him?
However, as much as I loved him as a character and as Willow's boyfriend, I think she and Tara made a better match. I would've been happy if Oz had stuck around and gotten a new girlfriend while Willow and Tara stayed together, but I do feel that his leaving was appropriate.

I never really liked him. Sorry guys, but he's like my least favourite BtVS character. This doesn't mean I hate him, only I don't really care for him.

Oz! I think Joyce said everything I could say about my view of Oz, except that I never really liked Tara that much. Don't get me wrong, I didn't dislike her. I just never got into her character. Maybe it's because my first impression of her was back in Hush (it was her first ep, right?), when she was just so creepy!
I thought Oz was just great. I loved him in the beginning when he was just a minor character and he hadn't yet met Willow, and he just kept saying, "Who is that girl?!" He was always so mysterious, and when we finally got to know him, he was an amazing guy! Ah, I miss him! But I do agree it was time for him to leave when he did.

i mostly agree with u. and i liked tara BUT i think the only reason "it was time for him to go" was because thats just what happens on buffy. joss and the writers were just scared that if they left things unchanged it would get boring. i think oz was too stable. and him becoming a wolf three days of the month wasnt really a threat cos he locked himself up (unless he got out, which they'd already dealt with once or twice)
what i dont agree with is him sticking around and getting another girlfriend lol that would have just broken my heart

I love Oz, but I prefer Tara. Tara's my favourite character, Oz is my, um, fourth favourite. He still rocks. He and Willow had a really great relationship, too <3 But I prefer Willara. Oz is awesome, though. :)

I happen to love Oz. I don't however believe he and Willow were truly meant for each other. But I did love them as a couple before Tara came around.

Oz was my favorite Character throughout most of the series. From the moment he got there til the moment he left, and came back. Anya has since taken his place but whenever I re watch the show he is always my favorite before she is.

{Pulling up an old thread from the grave.... sort of...}
I loved Oz. He was the epitome of geek-cool. His mono-syllabic lines were almost always hilarious, and Seth Green is one of my favorite actors. I LOVED Oz and Willow - I thought they were perfect together.... more so than Willow & Tara (sorry Tara fans! But Oz wins Willow in the BuffanatorVerse!)
What I want to know is... Is "Seth Green" the actor and "Bruce Seth Green" who often directed (or produced... can't remember) the same person... or at least related somehow?
Anybody? (Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?)

nope they aint........coincidence (the same happened in alias, an actor and a director had the same surname, Olin, but they are not related, Lena Olin and Ken Olin)

i love oz 2 he was awesomes it would have been good if they could have worked him back into it for s7.i also loved oz and willow together but agree it wouldn't have been for ever.i think oz will always like her as more than a mate though no matter what would have happened in the future of there characters after oz left
I want to be like Oz.
Not saying much, but when you do it's always something cool.
I have come so far that I don't say much.
Now I only need to mastering the coolnes part.
Let us just say that I have a long way to go...

I loved Oz, though not right from the start (for the same reason I dislike the Oz/Willow ship - blind jealousy, lol). I think it's really sad Seth left the show, I miss him in the second half of the series - but then, I guess it would have been hard to bring Tara in if he had stayed, and I wouldn't want to imagine the verse without her for anything.
Actually, I'm more than a bit like Oz... even more so now I read that quote Joyce Summers posted above. (Can't believe I didn't notice this thread earlier!?)
