Ahhh, the question that I've been pondering over for many months now...I mean he's not a vampire anymore, and sure he said he feels pain from fights months back but still that many fights if he were human surely he'd be dead..? And there are no other ideas I got. What the heck is he? The easiest guess his human but he seems to strong for a human, not just because of the vampire mirage, 'cause I'm sure that wouldn't help. But his heart beats. Geez, I'm confused. I'm sure most people will probably tell me he's human. But something tells me he isn't. Arghh. Help?

I think he's some sort of human plus, like Connor (He can't commit demon violence under Sanctuary, but I think it's been implied enough that he's human- though the rest of the After The Fall run might change our opinions of that). There's no way he'd be able to do the things he does, or stand up to Illyria, in ANY way, if he were a standard human.

Umm... hmm...
Well here's my wacky theory. Angel is at least part slayer. Hear me out. He drank some of Buffy's blood as a vampire, right? Then he got turned human, so now that all slayers have been scythe activated, that part of him has been activated, too. Plus, he had a glamour and some W&H mojo working for him.

Angel isn't human, because as has been pointed out, he's too strong. He's not a vampire. Maybe he's the Powers That Be's equivalent of an agent like Eve and hamilton were to the Senior Partners: something like Cordy was. Some sort of Higher Being.

Angel stated he was human, according to his theory, or assumming because his heart beats.... So question is what else is he apart from human? As Palabra suggested is he part slayer aswell to get his strength, or part higher power as White avenger said? I believe there is some part of him that is human. It might be due to the glamour he uses.

Technically, he has always been "part human," if in no other way than his memories and human habits. If the host human body, with those memories and habits remains, but the demon symbiont, for want of a better term, were somehow destroyed or expelled and replaced with a different sort of demon, less powerful and requiring a beating human heart, Angel might assume that he was human when in fact he really isn't.

Yeah true, I wonder if the writers will go down that path? I would love to see that theory explored.

If that were going to be true, it'd be more likely that Angel is now a Wolf, Ram, & Hart, like Hamilton, who he drank just before reality was altered.

I think Angel is plain and simply just human. The fact that he can still stand up against demons even though he has last his powers, is because he hasn't lost all his years of experience fighting them. He still knows how to handle weapons, different fighting techniques, and tactical manoeuvres.

But if that were true, he wouldn't have had to give up his humanity in "I Will Remember You." His knowledge of weapons and fighting techniques couldn't help him take out a single demon then, so how could he be doing so much better now? Angel himself admitted then that he couldn't fight as a human.

I think its part of the Shan Shu. The whole vampire with a soul for good or evil will start the apocalypse

Personally for me i have several theories however the one i tend to feel strongest is this:
Angel is human however he still retains some of his vampire mojo. Its possable the his powers are draining away and he may at some point become 100% human but as for now i thing he has some of his old powers.
I like the part slayer theory but i dont think it would work because he his a man and only females become slayer...... it would be pretty sweet... with angel skill and slayer powers he would be unstoppable.
The only other two theories i could think is that angel is fully human and is just so damn tough.... but they theory is highly unlikely
or....... he is something more, something else we haven't thought of yet. ether way he can still go toe to toe with Illyria and other demons so he has something............. Maybe he shooting up on steroids lol

Well, he did get stronger, or at least strong enough to wipe the floor with Hamilton.
Does it wear off?
Dunno. I guess the implication is it doesn't.
Maybe that's part of how he tamed Buffy's dragon let loose during The Gift.
Plenty of vamps have tasted slayer blood, but I don't recall any having special effects other than Spike claiming it was a vampire aphrodisiac.

good point on the hamilton blood thing.
also good point on the slayer blood theory. spike also drank the blood of slyers and nothing happen, if one argued that was becuase it was so long ago, well angel drank her blood like 5 years before so whatever effects it may have wore off.
