I'm sure someone has already asked this but what is your favourite episode not written by joss?

I would say for Buffy it would be Fool for Love and for Angel I'd say You're Welcome

Band Candy by Jane Espenson for Buffy and Guise will be Guise by Jane Espenson for Angel. I'm an Espenson Fan, what else can I say? And although I think Joss is the Master of this 'Verse, I do for the majority, tend to prefer Espenson Episodes anyway. It's more moments Joss writes that I love, rather than his episodes as a whole, if you get me? Whereas with Jane I love the entire episode.

I don't really keep track of who writes the shows, but I do know that the Buffy ep, "Normal Again" was written by someone that had never written a Buffy ep before, and that is one of my favorite episodes ever. (Are "The Zeppo" and "The Pack" written by Joss?)

Jane Espenson is great. I think a lot of people underestimate her because of the, albeit fantastic, lighter comedic episodes but look at Afterlife, Same Time, Same Place and the classic Earshot.

Not forgtting bringing back the bitch in Cordelia in Rm w/a Vu.

I love Jane Espenson's writing, too. I love Earshot, Gingerbread, Triangle, Band Candy...although I admit, her humor was a bit cheesy at times and After Life was a bit boring, overall, she's a great writer. I also loved her Firefly episode (I believe Shindig was the only one she wrote), and I really hope Joss can get her for Dollhouse. My other two favorite writers (aside from Joss, obviously) are Rebecca Rand Kirshner (I definitely thought she was underused) and David Fury.

My favorite non-Joss episodes were Grave (Buffy) and Orpheus (Angel). I'm probably biased because both of those episodes were very Willow-centric.

Doug Petrie gets my vote for Fool For Love and In The Dark. He also done Revelations, Initiative and No place like home.
But Marti Noxon is great writer too, the Wish! Buffy v Dracula!

Petrie is probably my favorite writer, other than Joss.

My favorite Buffy episodes not written by Whedon are Checkpoint, Fool For Love, Lovers Walk, Suprise (though admittedly it is hard to separate it from Innocence) and Pangs.

Though I love Marti Noxon as well, and she writes the best banter (other than Joss) on the show.

Fine, it is a tie between the two of them.

Of course, I also love Jane Espenson, but she did pen two of my least favorite episodes, as well (Superstar, Doublemeat Palace).

It's got to be 'Guise Will Be Guise' this episode is SO hilarious I could watch it thousands of times. And also, 'You're Welcome', for bringing Cordy back and giving us that real Cangel kiss at the end.

Fool for Love, even though i'm not a huge Doug Petrie fan. I love just about everything Jane Espenson writes - can i list all her episodes? After Life springs to mind, it's not one of her funny ones but the writing is beautiful.

Oh, I hate naming one favourite. It can change the next day. But Iīll say that I love the Jane Espenson ones. And at this exact moment I guess I would have to say Guise Will Be Guise. Or maybe Fool for love (Petrie), or Tabula Rasa (Kirshner), or Seeing red (DeKnight) or.. You see, itīs impossible.
