Did anyone NOT like this Season?

This season just started on TBS and I have to say, I'm not to impressed... The things I do like are Spike's one liners, and that episode, "Life of the Party" was great. But it just doesn't have the "fire" that AS4 had. It hasn't left me thinking, I can't WAIT until the next episode! Your opinions?

The good parts of AS5:

Spike: You pissed in the big man's chair? That's fantastic!
Gunn: Spike, could you turn off the warm fuzzy?
Spike: What? The Lorne thing? Wore off. I just think that's bloody marvelous.

Spike: Heard what happened up top, offing your dad and all. I don't know if you know this, but uh, I killed my mom. Actaully, I already killed her, then she tried to shag me, so I had to uh--
Wesley: [Puts up hands, defensively] Thank you! I'm... very comforted.

Have you seen it all yet? i dont wanna spoil the story though if you aint.
I think its a pretty good season, but id say the first 8 episodes, there is only a few good episodes.
1conviction 5life of the party 8destiny, are all good(destiny is a classic)

Episodes 8(destiny) to 13(why we fight) is an excellent run, supreb, but the main arc isnt really anywhere near as tight and gripping as s4.
but the stand alone episodes are better.
pretty much all the Spike episodes are good and well, save the season.
Spike completly steals the show.

Well, since season 5 is my favourite I have to disagree. I think the season is full of good episodes and have a few twists to make things interesting. Spike´s just awesome, and the clipboardscene cracks me up everytime. And of course it includes my favourite episode of Angel. So, how far have you come? Hope you´ll find the rest of the season better, if you havn´t seen all of it yet.

Nope I love this season, my favourite Angel season by far. Mostly because Spike fits in so well, and I love his interaction with Angel.. then other characters that come later.. prolly shouldn't spoil you. ;) I like the early episodes.. except for the Nina episode... actually I like the episode, just not the parts she is in. :p Episodes like Damage, which I didn't like how dark they went sometimes, but Spike and Angel just own all the scenes they are in.

Right now I'm on Harm's Way. (I'm actually watching it right now...) The season seems to get better ever episode and I loved the last one (it was the one where Spike and Angel fight). But like I said, it has NOTHING on S4. (imo)

This was my favorite season. It was like the pizza party we sometimes had at the end of the school year; we worked so hard to slog through the rest of Angel, and now we get S5! Yay!

I didn't like it THAT much. Mainly I blame that on the lack of Cordy. At least on Buffy they has a great substitute character for her, aka Anya, but can't say the same for Harmony. Also, the replacement of Lilah by Eve was just lame, Lilah was one of the most popular bitca characters.

But I do agree some standalone episodes were really great. 'Life of the Party' was just hilarious, so was 'Smile Time' and 'You're Welcome' rocked anyway cos Cordy was in it.

I think Cordy's absence is a big factor in this season. Some people don't like it because she's missing, and, whether you like it or not, Cordy was a big part of the other seasons, and Harmony just doesn't fill that void.

But, as a big Spike fan, I have to say I love this season. There are some amazing episodes (Destiny, Damage, Smile Time, Hole in the World, Shells, You're Welcome, Power Play, Not Fade Away) and the actors put out some of their best performaces in the last few eps especially. James Marsters fits into the team so well, and his interaction with David as they play off each other is just something awesome to watch.

There are some eps that don't really hit the bar Angel set fot itself, but the majority are excellent, and come at the end of the season, so just be patient.

I somewhat agree, all of the other seasons were so addicting, I can't stop watching them once I start, but Season 5 I almost had to force myself to watch some of the episodes, although I agree that I think Cordy not being there had something to do with it, and as much as I like Spike, I thought that his role in Season 5 wasn't as dynamic through out the entire season like it should have been to make up for Cordy not being there.

I love this season. 'A Hole In The World' is the most finely crafted episode of either season in my opinion.

I didn't like this season as much as some of the others, but I still liked it. Mainly I liked it for Spike and the lack of Connor. I did miss Cordy dearly. She brought something to the show that just left an empty space in season five. I also didn't like the idea of the gang being in the belly of the beast. It was such an odd turn for them. Suddenly they were working for their enemies... I never quite got into that.

You've got me. It may just be my least favorite season of all. there ARE good episodes, dont get me wrong, but i think most of them are the standalones (though the last 2 eps are fantastic).

I love it !! I think that angel had to end this way , Buffy an Angel kind of swapped roles by the end of there seasons. Angel was very serious compared to Buffy if u compare them start to finnish , Angel got a bit more lighthearted in season 5 except for big deaths ( Fred an cordy etc)but more like when buffy started with the big ending, i love it , the comics are amazin i hate having to wait for them tho !!! X

I like Angel because it was more serious than Buffy. It was more like Joss Whedon goes Law and Order versus the after-school style that he did with Buffy and that's why I like Angel better. I said before that I thought some of the episodes of this season were difficult to get into, but then there were other episodes that just out blew all of the episodes of the previous season, so I'm somewhat torn. Part of me loves season 5, and part of me doesn't.

Season 5 is one of my favourite seasons. There are maybe two episodes that I find unbearable, and I really dislike Eve. I mean, I have a fiery hatred for her, but it has some of the best episodes of either Buffy or Angel, and this season is in fact one of the reasons I think Angel outshines Buffy, quality-wise. You're Welcome, Smile Time, A Whole in the World, Shells, and arguably Not Fade Away are ridiculously amazing.
Also, it has Illyria, who is unspeakably awesome.
