Xander warlock?

wouldnt it have ben easier for xander to have become a warlock that way he would have been able to help the scooby gang more often and more effectivly reather then just being "car guy" and fixing the windows in the summers house

thats a valid reson however he is always assinting in spells and managed to set a book on fire if just a word...
and if jonathan can do it i think xander could as he would have assstance from willow...all he need is a magic bone :D

I think Xander was supposed to be the "everyman" character--the one we as the audience related to. Everyone else had superpowers, but WE don't, so we can't 100% relate to Buffy or Faith or Willow. They have aspects that we can relate to, but we can't relate to their superness. Xander, however, had the mundane, never feeling quite cool enough thing down so we as an audience had that aspect to relate to in at least one character.

I don't think just anyone is able to perform magicks. Like Amy said to Willow, 'It's about power. Willow always had all the power, long before she even knew what to do with it. Just came so easy for her. The rest of us - we had to work twice as hard to be half as good.' And Amy already was a powerful witch. So I don't think just ANYONE can do magicks that easy.

Yes I think over the years he been a scoobie he could have learnt something to help more even if it isn’t magic. He could have become a decent fighter like Reily or principle Wood or improved his demon knowledge like a watcher.

Xander always tried to help whenever he could even though he knew he wasnt as powerful as the rest.
It would have spoiled it a bit if the made him all mystical too.
He was like lorne, the funny guy, which you really need.

The way I see it if Xander was anything in that field a wizard or a sorcerer would be some one who helps. I thought there was enough evil creatures in the series, take the first three letters of the word, you might get an indication of what I mean.
Anyone can do magic, using specific props to do it takes other knowledge. Ever known when the phone is going to ring? is that coincidence or magic? ever experienced de-ja vous?

But if Xander was a warlock he wouldnt be Xander! Xander was supposed to regular Joe, who had no special powers. That's what made him so likable! and if he was a warlock he couldnt have made that speech to awn in "Potential"

What if Xander was a Warlock. It may explain how Willow became so powerful so quickly,
and it was Tara's influence that he became good, a wizard. If he had decided to keep it quiet from everyone. Maybe he's where Willow got the power from to make the potentials all slayers.
Imagine this.......picture Xander with blonde hair, one might even think he was Zeus's son.

Can i please refer you to all the times that Xander has managed to mess up a spell/incantation/create havoc through use of magic/inadventantly summon demons. i think he'd be more of a hindrance as possibly one of the most accident-prone and inadequate warlocks ever, than help!

I just wrote an entire paper for my cult t.v. class on Xander and the importance of being the regular joe schmoe that he is. I'll def post it sometime.

But no, i don't think him having powers would have been agood thing. I think it was extremely important he have none, for audience/cult appeal as well as to show that a normal person can deal with extreme circumstances. We as humans are a lot stronger and more capable than we give ourselves credit for, and Xander is proof. that's the short of it (the paper is 6 or 7 pages long, and thats only because the professor put a limit on it! i couldve went on for paaages).
