When The Groosalugg joins angel investigations I had mixed emotions. One side he’s a funny, a strong fighter and makes Cordy happy. However he also takes away what could have been a good relationship from angel and Cordy and there’s something about him with makes me not like him. Any one else feel like this??

:thought:

Well i didnt really like Angel/Cordy relationship, it just didnt fit. Angel and Cordy? Naaaaah.
But Groo! good character. As good a fighter as angel, very honourable, and funny.

Remember when he gave Angel the love potion to hold then just went 'Arrrrrghhh' and charge in? too funny.
Or when he said 'Hail to you, potential client'.

I actually think Cordy took advantage of him and she went down in likability even further in my opinion.

Didn't like him. ohh, I just could've killed him the time Angel wanted to talk to Cordy about his feelings and then he showed up. Aaah, I was so frustrated.
Plus, that guy had weird eyes!

I liked his eyes! They were a pretty blue. I thought he was adorable. When he went away because Cordy didn't love him, I was all "Aww! Come home with me! It'll be okay!"

Groo: Angel. You and I have fought side by side on more than one occasion, fellow warriors, shoulder to shoulder. By now my council must surely hold weight. So I beseech you to heed my words.
Angel: Okay.
Groo: Pomegranate Mist is the wrong color for this room.

Groo: Summer splendor is a hue more worthy of a champion. Or... or perhaps this unique one called purpla.
Angel: Purple. - Yet you have no problems pronouncing pomegranate.
Groo: It was my mother's name.

I didnt have a problem with Groo as a character after he joined AI, but the Pylea-version just seemed like a big stereotype. He would have done everything for Cordy and she just used him. I felt real bad for him then he realized he had no future with her. But I can´t say that I missed him.

My fave is snarky Groo:

Cordy: "You know someone else who can... - Oh. I don't think Angel's gonna go for that."

Groo: "Yes. We must always consider Angel. Angel is our leader. We must obey his wishes."

Groo reaches past Angel and picks an ax from the cabinet.

And...

Groo: "This weapon should serve me better."

Angel: "Ah, a little big for our purpose, don't you think?"

Groo: "I've had no complaints."

Also I don't think Cordy consciously used him. I think their last scene together proved that to me. I think she was simply out of touch with her feelings.

:buble_eye:ewhip:::drool:: Hubba, hubba. He's a hottie.

But... to the character question: he was entertaining, and it was nice for Cordy to have a romantic relationship. Naturally Groo was a wonderful foil to Angel, and I enjoyed him. It's too bad Cordy didn't stick with him, a lot would have turned out different. Hmm...

I loved Groo, HATED him with Cordelia! I want my Cangel!

Anyway, he was so cute! Him telling Angel what color to paint the walls was one of my favorite moments in the whole show...gotta love "purplah!" And I also love him hearing Angel's cell phone ringing and saying, "Angel, your coat is singing."

He was pretty easy on the eyes, too, even though his smile covered his whole face. And his eyes aren't actually that color, are they? I googled the actor, and his eyes are normal blue...I'm pretty sure they just made them huge like that on the show to make him look more demony.

I liked Groo, but I felt they dragged his "romance" with Cordelia out too long. I was just bored of him by the end. Although I agree about Cordelia not really using him.

I think that he was a big friendly guy who was a hell of a fighter, who finally began to grow out of his childlike state of innocence when he told Cordy that she didn't love him and left the show.

Aw, I really liked Groo. Yes, he was a sort of puppydog, but he genuinely cared for Cordy and he had some fantastically funny lines (''Angel, your coat is singing''). Also, his story with Cordelia reminded me a LOT of Riley in season 5. Both in love with women who don't love them enough in return, both 'replaced' by a vampire. I've always found the parallels between those two quite obvious and interesting.

i felt so terrible for him. my heart broke. i think leaving, for the betterment of Cordelia, was so sweet. Yes part of it was he didn't want to be with her if she didn't love him, but also he wanted her to be happy and saw Angel made her so. but when he packed his bags....ugh. I thought he was doing the best he could.

I didn't ever really like Groo, except for his few hilarious quotes.
First of all his eyes scared me
The way he talked really got to me after a while
He looked really wierd when he got his make over to look like Angel (but it does show Cordys true feelings for Angel a bit)

I have 3 questions tho
How'd Groo get out of Pylea?
Why does he quit AI just cuz Cordy leaves him?
Where the does he go afterwards, it's not like Groo really fits in the the modern world?

1--Maybe the portal between dimensions just opens and closes spontaneously on occasion. That seems to be how Lorne got here. Possibly when Fred's professor opened it originally he just forgot to turn it off, and it just sort of cycled open and closed at infrequent intervals.

2--Groo left Angel Investigations because he realized that Cordy really loved Angel, and thought that her happiness was more important to him than his own.

3--Considering his looks, physique, and fighting skills, either professional modeling, pro wrestling, or Schwarzenegger's stunt double for "Terminator 4."

I liked Groo, as an additional character, he was funny, & I love me some funny.

But I never bought the Groo-Cordy relationship. I always thought that Cordy was just so lonely & wanted someone in her life, & wasn't paying attention to her REAL feelings for Angel, & that's what drew her to Groo. (Heh "drew" to "groo" :D ). As for The Groo, well, he couldn't "com-shuck" with a "cow".... and Cordy WAS a "princess"...

But he was fun while he lasted. Still, he COULD have gone to Sunnydale to help the scoobies fight the good fight, eh?
