For those of you who have not yet seen "Southland Tales," I can say with all sincerity, SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!
I used to think that there would never be a more muddled up, pointless piece of crap that had the nerve and delusion to call itself entertainment than "Highlander: The Source," but "Southland Tales" makes that movie look like artistic genius. Sarah Michell Gellar is by far a better actor than this. The Rock is a better actor than this. Hell, MY DOG is a better actor than this, and he's barely house broken.
Sarah, if this is what you left "Buffy" for, darlin' I love you dearly, but you screwed up big time. Go back and make "Scooby Do #3." It has far more dignity than this, even if it means that you have to appear on screen with your lame talentless husband again. Better yet, if Joss won't take you back, hire the best staff that you can afford and get them to write you a "Buffy" ripoff. Either do that, or make plans to find a new career outside the entertainment field, because one more like this, and you will be extinct in Hollywood.
(As you might have gathered, I did not like this movie)

First of all...I am back - briefly.
Secondly, I absolutely agree with you WA.
I understand the reason this film took so long to get to DVD.
Crap. I WILL admit though, I chuckled occasionally with Sarah's Krysta Now, particularly when she was hosting the chat show.
I tried SO hard to like this movie, but I just could not find anything redeemable about it - seriously appalling.

I'm with you both. I waited sooo long to see this movie, and was severely disappointed! I hate the orange spray on tan that SMG is sporting!
I agree! Scooby Doo 3!

It was definatly a confusing movie but since I didnt have my full on attention to it I found it be ok. Just one thing is for sure: SMG needs to start choosing better scripts. It seems like she hasnt gotten a good role since The Grudge.

"The Grudge" really wasn't that much better, if any at all, that any one of at least half a dozen other movies of the same genre. It was totally predictable and overrun with cliches. The only thing it really had going for it was that Sarah's fans from "Buffy" (me among them) ran out to see it in the hopes that it would live up to our high hopes for her.

I know it isnt a great movie but it isnt a bad movie imo and it was her last movie to do good at the box office.

So I finished watching this a little while ago (no dollars spent - go the Blockbluster free trial! ;) )...
...
All I can do is quote a tiny, impotent Nazi with a bug up his butt the size of an emu by quoting miss Queen C herself...
I don't get it. What is it? Avant Garde?
See, I got Donnie Darko....after a second viewing...I still don't know if I'd get this....
Richard Kelly fell from grace. Hard.
This is the sort of thing that is communicated from the Director's Cut of Donnie Darko. Richard Kelly isn't particularly sure what he's doing and the producers help that dramatically. I hope his career picks up to its conceptive dizzy heights.
i saw the thread title and got all excited cause i've just been waiting for my dvd to arrive and now i'm depressed, it's really that bad? so i shouldn't even bother unwrapping it? such a shame, i had such hopes after liking DD so much

I just watched this movie, very confusing! Some bits were funny though but it was very strange. I stopped it halfway through to watch "Americas Next Top Model" and that was more entertaining. The only reason I put it back on was to see if it would get better.

No way, I liked Southland Tales, I didn't have a clue what it was about, or what was going on, but, SMG, The Rock and Kevin Smith were in it! (And Justin Timberlake, but shhh) I think Richard Kelly is just a nutcase, and because Donnie Darko was a cult hit, he was obviously given alot of money and opportunity to make more. I wonder what he'll come up with next..

I think this film had the potential to be good and there were some good lines and moments that made me go "ooooooh", and plus there's always the bonus of SMG being in it (although she didn't have as much of a role in it as I thought she would sadly) but the film confused me waaaaaaay too much for me to be able to really appreciate it. Sometimes something would happen and I'd feel like I'd missed a big chunk of the movie.
There's only be a few SMG films that I've actually fully enjoyed and that was Simply Irresistable (Still one of my favorite films since it's release :)) and even though everyone else seems to be completely dismissing it as awful, but I loved the Scooby Doo movies. I know that makes me sound very childish and easily entertained but I don't care! I never really watched The Grudge or I Know What you did Last Summer or anything of that genre that she's featured in because erm....horror movies frighten me

Hmmm....I was debating whether to watch this film 'cause it's currently on Sky anytime, but I dunno whether to bother now.
Is it one of these films that you really have to pay attention to? Because they just confuse my small brain.

I watched this movie because of SMG and I have to say that for me it was really bizarre but ultimately I loved it. I liked Justin Timberlake in it as well. He is my favorite :)
