Considering her less that stellar record on the big screen, do you think it's time for Sarah to bite the bullet and get back where she belongs? I'm talking, of course, about series tv. She still has a sizable fan base (us) who would no doubt all join together and do the Snoopy dance just to get the chance to see her every week again. She doesn't have to be Buffy and it doesn't have to involve vampires or demons, but the girl really needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Barring a near miracle, she's flubbed any chance of a career on the big screen.

Just like in the music business, I guess that depends how you define "career" - "Make a living without having to worry about going back to work as a bagger at Wal-Mart," or "Third-richest person in the world overnight with multi-million-dollar homes in seventeen international hot spots". Ain't very many people ever make that last one, and if that's someone's concept of having a successful career, they're almost certainly going to be disappointed.

She's credited in something like 14 big-screen films since "Buffy", four of which are currently either just completed, in post-production, filming, or in production. Four projects active at once? By Hollywood standards, that's pretty steady work in the main credits for someone with no chance of a career...

RH is right of course. It´s not like Sarah is one of the biggest stars there is, but she´s doing ok. And lets not forget that tv-shows is a big commitment. Making movies give you way more freedom to do what you want to do. I´d love to see Sarah in a new (great) series but I´m not complaining, and I´m sure neither is she.

SMG *IS* Buffy. She will forever by typecast as such because it was a 7-year job & she was fabulous at it.

Everything I have ever seen her in otherwise has definitely not impressed me. It's hard for me to notice someone's stellar acting when the movie itself sux so bad.

But even if she never worked again, I'd bet she could live quite happily on her Buffy money/franchise. And she IS married to that hunky Freddie Prinze.... Yow-zah!

Personally, I'd much rather see her on a weekly basis than once in a while on the big screen. I really think her acting is, how should I put this, mediocre? The funny thing is, she's probably one of my top 5 favorite actresses! And that's just because I used to watch her when she was on All My Children and then followed her to Buffy.

Unfortunately, she's the type of actress that needs a good length of time to establish her characters. I just believe that she is more suited for tv, and I believe that she could get out of the Buffy typecast if she took on another television role. I mean, look at Christina Applegate. She had one of the hardest typecasts to shake, and by golly the girl has done it. Granted it took a few mediocre film roles, The Pussycat Dolls and Broadway before she took on Samantha Who? but she's pretty much reinvented herself. She's not referred to as Kelly Bundy anymore, but Christina Applegate.

Also, look what tv did for Patrick Dempsey's career, he wasn't a largely known actor at all, and then Grey's Anatomy came along and now he's everywhere. Though he's now stuck in the McDreamy typecast...

SMG is going to be known as Buffy until she makes the right choices to get out of that typecast, and I don't think these roles she's played the last 5 years are it.

I'd heard about that recent one she did called The Air I Breath, but didn't pay much attention. I think I read it was direct-to-dvd.

Just now however I was browsing this general info blog I check out from time to time, and was surprised to see the guy had a review of it. He really liked it. Here's a link.

24 Hour News 8 Blogs : a great crime drama (http://blogs.woodtv.com/?p=3889#more-3889)

Not totally pertinent to the conversation, I know. I just thought it was interesting, and couldn't find an Air I Breath thread.

I think SMG would have been a lot more successful if she's have stayed on the small screen. I mean look at David Boreanaz, he went from Angel to Bones, which is a very successful show. I know he did the film Valentine but that wasn't anything special.

Then you have James, who has had a small role in the film P.S I Love you but has other wise been none stop in his appearance in different shows on TV.

Not even Cruel Intentions? I thought she was awesome in that role and that was before I ever watched her in Buffy. I mostly knew her from Swans Crossing.....awful show but it was fun at the time.

To be honest I rather see her doing independent films rather than blockbusters and it seems she enjoys doing that. Its great that she's not in our faces 24/7 like certain celebrities. I admire her for her choice in roles and playing very diverse characters. Yes it is sad that she will forever be known as Buffy, but I am sure Sarah really doesn't mind that. If she wanted to, she could sign up for another TV show or bigger movie, but I can see that she is the sort of person who chooses roles cause she likes playing intriguing characters. :)
