SMG and her Buffy-dom

I own the Buffy & Angel DVD sets & I enjoy watching the special features. It unnerves me that SMG did NO interviews for the entire series. I so don't get that. For seven years, she played a character that fans adored. She played a character that brought HER great fame & I'm sure a good deal of wealth.

I've seen her in a couple other movies. I don't know if it's *her* or the actual movies themselves, but I have not been impressed with her in anything except Buffy.

i wouldnt say she ''disses'' the character...
ive seen her do interviews about buffy..and she always speaks fondly of the character and the show...
just so happens there was no interviews with her on the dvds, but there could of been reasons for that i guess

The special fatures are quite good, especially s6.
I think Joss Whedon and Doug petrie are the best at interviews and commentary.

Sarah has done many interview about Buffy as Kimz said. But I don´t know why shes´s not on the dvds. I miss that too. But I´ve heard somethere that she didn´t want to be included in the bloopers section, and that she wasn´t to fond of goofing around the set. Mainly because she is the one that has to bee there almost the entire time and just wanted to get the job done. I don´t know if it´s true though.

Even if I miss her in the special features the main thing is that I´ve never heard her speaking a bad word about the show. But maybe it´s just me living in a bubble.

I also think it's not fair that Sarah didn't appear on the DVDs. Makes me wonder...

I think her reason for not being on the DVDs is probably timing more than anything. Remember the extras were all done in one big batch to be added on when the show was re-released on disc and it's perfectly plausible that at the time that the DVD people were getting as many Buffy alumni together as possible, Sarah just happened to be away, or working or just generally busy.
I mean I don't think you see Alyson Hannigan interviewed on the DVDs. Or if you do, it's not very much.

Just because they don't appear on the DVD interviews doesn't mean they are rejecting the show, but more likely that busy schedules have gotten in the way. And as a few of you have said, whenever Sarah is asked about Buffy she always does speak very fondly of it.

i love that sarah meets richard blackwood interview...that was fab! and entirely buffy themed! she spoke very fondly of the character and show on that one inparticular.

No way could that be a valid point. Do you really think if SMG did some interviews for the DVDs that they wouldn't include them?

Yup I absolutely do. If they didn't like what she had to say. Or it wasn't relevant. We don't know. Not fair making a blanket assumption that she didn't WANT to do any.

Bringing this back a bit...I have been wondering this, and haven't found out where would be appropriate to post it. But I know that SMG isn't in a lot of the interviews in special features. Does she (or any of the regular cast, but Sarah Michelle Gellar in particular) do Episode Commentary on the DVDs? I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the money on the DVDs (either separate seasons or the Chosen Collection and I love listening to cast commentary.

I haven't listened to all of the commentaries, but I have read the names of those making them in the "Special Features" sections, and I don't recall seeing her name anywhere.

I don't know about other regions but on the region 2 dvd's the only members of cast that have done commentary are on the season 7 dvd's and include Danny Strong, Tom Lenk, James Marsters, DB Woodside and Nicholas Brendon. But there is commentaries on all except the 3rd season with Joss Whedon and they are all very good.

Yeah, the Joss comentaries make up for the lack of cast commentaries. They are excellent. Really quite revealing.

Thanks for the replies. I wish more cast did commentaries because that is truly entertaining to listen to, but if Joss's commentaries are as good as you all are saying, then I am anxious to listen!
