My fellow mods and I have been rolling around the idea of introducing Buffy-Boards mechandise. Hats, hoodies, t-shirts, mugs...you name it. Some of us mods (i.e Me and Lyri and Jenny) are especially excited about our official mod mugs:D

What I want to know though is are you, the members, interested?

So heres the plan, if the idea of BB merch makes you squee with delight, post in this thread saying so! Let us know what kind of products you would like to buy, or any other suggestions you have, post them here.

It's a cool idea. I don't know if I'd buy anything (because if you check out the dictionary and look up "penny pincher," you'll see a picture of me there next to the entry), but I think I'll probably ooh and ahh and fantasize about buying things.

i wouldn't get a shirt, to be honest, if it just said like BAM "Buffy Boards" all over it. But if it had a buffy quote or something and buffy boards small on it somewhere, probably. But id def rock a keychain or something small to show off the nerdyness.

btw, i use "squee" all the time as my sound of excitement.

A good "geek" comment from the trio or willow would be cool on a shirt, with it kind of making connotations to us all being massive nerds! I'd definitely buy a baby doll style shirt if it had a good quote on it! Or Buffy Board underwear! Haha. My boyfriend would be terrified!

I read about a request for a BB mouse pad. I use A4 paper, so how about an A4 bit of paper with Buffy-Boards.com and a few good pictures...maybe six in a set?
It wouldn't cost much, shipping costs would be low and any profits would be good.

I think that a separate area would be needed for the sales, would you be allowing members advertising their products?
I ask as I have a book on sale at the moment, a second will be released in July and I am writing the third in the Trilogy at present.

The company we would be selling the items through just sells mugs, t-shirts etc - you can't really sell your own stuff. But feel free to add the link if you have a website for the books to the Other Sites section of the Links. :)

Stationary wise there is the possibility of notebokes, note pads, greeting cards, posters etc. :)

I think it sounds great. And although BB-stuff would be great, I´d really like something dorm-based. I do see/understand the problem with this, but one can always dream, right?

I think the idea is really cool and depending on the coolness-factor and the price, I would definitely want something.

My two biggest concerns though are international shipping and payment method... how are you going to handle them?

International payment would be handled in a similiar manner to ebay or amazon. It will be added to the cost of the product and the cost will depend on the weight of the product, the distance it has to travel and the method od shipment you choose.

I think we would need a insignia first, like the background to where is says 'buffy-boards' on the top left of the theme I use, not that I know which one i'm using, but i've never changed it so I figure it's the default.

After the insignia i'd get my name (username) and house name on the back, MERRICK!!.

It would look ace, and when I go the pub shy Buffy fans would have an ice breaker. wooo

Not sure if I would wear a t-shirt, I dont usually wear them at all. I wear mostly babydolls and halter that type of thing. I am pretty picky about what I wear and I rarely wear tshirts lol. Guess it would just have to depend on the designing...but if cute and the price isnt too steep I would buy one...something i think would be cool but maybe difficult to do...as you would have to get permissions set but it would be cool to get a buffy-boards soundtrack together...

a collaboration of some of our favorite buffyverse songs...I already have the once more with feeling Cd which I listen too quite alot and actually just found on karaoke YAY!!!!!!!!!!

but it would be cool to ask that lady that wrote I miss buffy the vampire slayer for permision to use her song and such but i think it would be pretty impossible to get permissions without giving a precentage of sales and what not...and it would be more of a hassle than anything else.

mousepade are a cute idea...Post cards and stationary are something I might buy...its all gonne come down to desing for me with anything sold...but I am intrigued to say the least....

I'm leaning towards the kiddie wear myself. Imagine how embarrassed I can make my son when I pull out all these pics of him as a baby wearing Buffy stuff when he brings his first date home (in many many years)!!! He's already gonna hate the shirt I got him that says "Yes girls, I'm single".

Unfortunately for us Europeans the company we are using is American based. We can't really do anything about that. I'll be paying for the shipping too, of course I would prefer for the company to be based in Ireland but beggars can't be choosers. It's not entirely ideal but we are trying to keep cost down as much as we can.

You might be able to get a separate European supplier or get your U S to sub-contract the work to someone in England or Europe in order to save on overseas shipping, depending, of course, on the amount of merchandise that you offer. That would give you, essentially a U S store and a European store. A lot of website businesses do that.

I like the idea, but wouldn't you have to buy rights to them and everything? After all, we didn't invent Buffy or anything, so we'd probably have to work out a deal. And remember, money is a problem, as is the fact that people on BB are spread all over the world.

We're not making Buffy, the Vampire Slayer merchandise, we're making Buffy-Boards merchandise. It's got nothing to do with the show. We're making our own logos and designs, and designing the products ourselves. We should be ok in that respect. I think other web sites have done it.

I saw a guy walking around my campus the other day with a shirt that said "Wolfram and Hart: Attorneys at Law"! It was so cool. I was like,

"You like Angel? Me too!" He said he's never met anyone whom recognized that shirt before :)

Ok just a little update. When we do open it will be with a limited stock. We just want to test the waters first. However, we will expand fully on the line and try as best we can to accomodate everyone's request as much as we can. We won't be able to get provide everything you have asked for but it will be pretty close, but like Lyri said we won't have pictures of Buffy cast, crew or locations on our merch. This is about BB not the show.
