I was surprised to come here, and not find a thread for the most popular couple. Hopefully if I post it, the fans will come!

Sorry for the wrong "their" in the title! :)

You have obviously missed Keonite's "Bangel Appreciation Thread," which started out as an April Fool's Day joke and remains so to this day.

Also, most Bangel threads turn into Spuffy vs Bangel debates/fistfights, so they tend to disappear pretty quick.

Saw it, and it seems like more jokey than a Bangel thread.

Yes... it is understandable about the debates.

Too bad, I would like a fun place to love the couple! Ah well, I'll post at the joke thread... and continue the love!

Thanks, all.

I don't know about that whole tuckin' tails thing. On my end anyway, I will tastefully let you know I'm on the Bangel ship, and that I can appreciate Spuffy for what it was. I just prefer one relationship over the other. It's called being mature, instead having a flame war over which vamp was better for Buffy, when they both obviously had detrimental effects on the woman.

It"s not any kind of "war," it's just fun. Some of my favorite times on the Boards have been the sparring I've done with my friends from the other side of the "who makes Buffy the happiest," fence. As long as it stays friendly and doesn't get nasty, it's just good clean fun and an interesting mental exercise.

And, really, as far as Bangle, Spuffy, Fuffy, Guffy, Satsu, Spander, or Spacula is concerned when you get down to the real fact, we're a bunch of mostly adults arguing the merits of fictional relationships of fictional characters on a canceled television show about mythical demons and the people who kill them. Most "normal" people don't call that immature, they call it obsessed.

Bangel? Spuffy and Cangel is where it's at.

*Closes thread because Bangel sucks and waits for Mammy Kean to reopen the thread wearing her 'I Heart Bangel' T-Shirt*

Bangle, Spuffy, Fuffy, Guffy, Satsu, Spander, or Spacula
Guffy? Is that the alternative name for Biles? (It doesn't need one. Biles is far more evocative regarding how that ship is appreciated in general... )

As long as it stays friendly and doesn't get nasty, it's just good clean fun and an interesting mental exercise... Bangle, Spuffy, Fuffy, Guffy, [B]atsu, Spander, or Spacula
You forgot:
Spangel
Gander
Billow
Darilla
Cuffy
Fallow
Fander
Cordillow
Ander
Buffula
and the list goes on and on.

At least Joss has positively identified one of those popular mental exercises as 100% "completely wrong"; Bangel. Not 98%, 87%, 42% or whatever wrong... 100%. Complete. Total. No shred of doubt. Wrong, wrong and wrong followed by an oversized heaping plate of wrong; spiced to perfection with grated and salty tasting wrong nuggets picked fresh from the tree of wrong in the land of wrong and watered daily by the clear spring of wrong.

That statement is given in an interview on a season 1 disc.
It's Joss, he should know.

I like exercise... also love Bangel. Always will, not stopping the love. I must have missed Joss calling the relationship "completely wrong." Joss must have decided to keep the couple going strong for so long for some reason, or another. Interesting how the ship turned into something that spanned all seasons of the Buffyverse. Wrong or not, its hardwired into the verse, and not going anywhere.

Where can I find this commentary? Ep, and scene number, please... I'd like to rewatch it. Plus... they are a part of the most dynamic love triangle since Pacey/Joey/Dawson, and I have no problem debating the relationships. And I love the Spuffy fans, when chatting with them my views are simply reaffirmed, and I get to peek into someone else's opinons.

Where's the bad in that?

I don't remember Joss saying the relationship was "completely wrong" in the way I think people may be taking it. I do remember him saying that Angel is completely wrong for Buffy because he's a vampire and she's the Slayer, but therein lay the romance. I can't remember if it's a feature interview or a commentary, though.

Exactly, he meant they were "wrong" in the 'My only love borne out of my only hate' kinda way, not wrong as in the ship was a mistake.

Got Season 1?
Try disc 1.
Before the series even starts.
Not sure just how more upfront he can make it.
You do actually watch the DVDs, right?

Anyway... the point is if they were perfect for each other = boring TV. *Yawn*
Completely wrong = not boring TV. See someone's posted list of top 5 TV couples as further examples.

Joss must have decided to keep the couple going strong for so long for some reason, or another.
See above.

Of course I have season one, and watch the DVD's. I will check it out later on today. I am still not convinced that Joss kept the couple around simply to push ratings. After all, his self proclaimed favorite episode is Innocence, and his favorite scene is the bedroom scene. This is all about the couple, and their love and hate. Although it is a break-up episode (if you've seen it, you'll know) Joss did not write it like one. He really put their relationship out in the front, and explained how when Angel is turned he still keeps Buffy as number one. Furthermore, if Joss had such a problem with their relationship why did he bring Angel back? He could have given David his own series at the end of the second season. Put him back to help the helpless right out of hell, instead of the year he spent with Buffy.

Anyhoo, I will respectfully enjoy the couple... and despite what actually happens in cannon I will prefer them together over all others. That doesn't mean I won't continue to enjoy cannon, and respect Joss' final decisions, as well. If he does decide to go with the "completely wrong" bit, that's cool. I'm a sucker for the Romeo and Juliet's of the world.
