Veruca-who else hates her?

I just watched Wild At Heart and I hate Veruca. She's an animal, a B*** in heat, after Oz just because he's another werewolf.

I hate her.

Ok, I didn´t mean that. Of course you don´t like Veruca. You´re not supposed to. Her whole existens (as a character) is about breaking up Oz and Willow. So how can we like her? Your second sentence sums it up pretty good. But at the same time where was something special about her. But yeah, I didn´t like her.

I'd be surprised if many people actually like her. She was designed to he hated. She was manipulative and selfish, and then of course there was the whole homewrecker thing. If she hadn't been all of those things, then some problems would have been raised. If she'd been like Oz--likeable, normal when not a wolf, funny--then when Oz cheated, the viewers might have remembered that time Willow kissed Xander, and we might actually end up sympathizing with Oz for the way Willow reacted, because technically he can't control his actions at the full moon.

So yep, she sucked, but she had to.

Yeah, like JCC said, you were supposed to hate her. I loathed the character, since, when I first watched it, Willow and Oz were my favorite Buffy couple. Now, I have to thank her for provoking the wonder that is Tillow.

As a person - I hated her.

As a character - she was BRILLIANT. Although if she'd been around for more than a few episodes I'd have expected them to give her a bit more depth, cause she was pretty 2-dimensional. But since she wasn't, I think she was very well written and decently acted (some of the actress' mannerisms drove me nuts).

Sexy!?!? Really? I love seeing sex appeal in other women, really I do. But Veruca? I thought she was almost entirely sexless. I really enjoyed this portrayal of her and thought she was amazingly well done. Oz thinks she's sexy, willow finds her intimidating, the audience wants to hiss every time she's on camera!

I'll go with HATE.
But, it's not all about Veruca as much as she hurt Willow. And there was a band chickie like her that I was HORRIBLY jealous of with an old boyfriend of mine.
It turned out a lot better than it did for Oz and Willow, (Like neither my boyfriend or the girl appeared to be werewolves and he never did cheat) but the dislike was there and I know how Willow felt with her around.

Veruca was sexy, I loved her singing, overall she was a great character in terms of writing and acting, but she broke up a core-four relationship and hurt both Oz and Willow so yup, hated her for the obvious reasons.

Yeah, given the fact she was written into the show to be hated I'd say it's not surprising that so many of you do exactly that.

Personally I think she was a little wasted as a character because of the fact she was there to serve the purpose of writing Oz out of the show and so only stuck around for as long as it took to do so. Had it happened differently with Oz staying on the show but having to deal with his feelings for both Willow and a more likable Veruca over the whole season then I'd say many may have felt different. As it was she was written with no redeeming qualities and so there is little there to like.

Animal-like sex appeal is the way to go for me, so yeah, she was hot and sexy. :) Character was created to be as indecent and abhorring as any Vampire that came and went through the show, without killing anyone (I guess she did rip out Willow's heart, but she didn't kill anyone).
But I guess I didn't get a chance to really hate her, honestly and passionately. I would've liked to see more of her, though, at least in the sense that she would've brought Oz out of lethargy and made him a true and honest to God male, even if for a little while.

Personally, I always wish she'd put on some clothes. Sure, sure, she looks like a "normal" girl, but for someone who spends almost a whole episode practically naked, she really needs a little spray tan or better fitting bras or something. Hah! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. Apart from Veruca just being selfish and manipulative, the song the actress had to lip sync seems to really irritate me. i didn't particularly like veruca (who does, it seems?) but i thought she was an awesome character that was kind of essential to oz's and therefore willow's growth. i loved the whole oz taming the wolf inside him thing and realizing that it is inside him all the time, and i thought it was really interesting to see what he could be (like veruca) if he hadn't. of course, i hated that veruca broke up willow and oz, but then we got tara so i can live haha.

I kinda hate her, kinda like her. I always find characters like her interesting, people with souls, who choose a darker path. In buffy, you usually get you're two types, the scoobies, good people who do good things, and the demons who do the bad. I like those in- between characters. Oz seems to attract them, Pete in "Beauty and the Beasts", probably one of the darkest characters in the show. Kane the werewolf hunter, all about the money, didn't matter to him that werewolves were humans to. Veruca was the flip side to Oz, both had souls, both made different choices. I liked seeing what Oz could have become. And nearly did. Oh and her stomach tattoo, was pretty cool.

Thought the character was great. She was the only one with enough respect for Oz to treat him as he was, not as others would like him to be. Oz didnt like Willow doing the magic all the time but he never tried to get her to repress it. Veruca accepted Oz when no one else did. They shamed him into a cage.

well, better a cage than killing people and animals 3 nights out of every month...veruca didn't fully understand her power, the power inside of her--she just gave over to the darkness without thinking about the consequences. oz and the gang accept people/creatures with "darkness" in them, but they also teach them about their power, teach them how to understand it and control it and use it for something other than evil. i think it was awesome that oz had to go and learn how to cope with the wolf inside him. (not that that was much fun for willow, but...putting her aside for now)

I do agree, though, for a girl who's supposed to be so sexy, Paige Moss isn't really the one I would have cast in that role.

I can see you're side of it... I just didn't get that impression of her at first. I didn't think she was going to be evil until she and Oz woke up together. At that moment, I was all too happy to see Buffy slay her, but it was poetic justice that Oz ended up ripping her throat out. Ew.

I don't exactly hate Veruca, but I don't exactly like her either.

Her character was going to be developed but was dropped after a few episodes and I think that's why a lot of people don't like her because they didn't know the character's back story.

She served a purpose by being somewhat...make that rather... repulsive (for me). Wolfie Oz tore her throat out to protect(?) Willow. Granted I can't say he'd necessarily be humping Will leg when he bulled charged her after killing Veruca, but thanks to the traqualizer we'll never know. :)

Oz made that remark about the wolf always being under the surface. maybe his will was enough for it to cut both ways?

I didn't like Oz eating people or killing things...even the Zombie guy he ate in Zeppo. Yet with veruca he gets a pass for me because he was in away putting a dangerous animal down. The writers wrote her part well for seving a purpose.

Veruca was wolf 24/7 and I didn't like her way of thinking. She was the kick in the butt Oz needed for a driving story, I just wish they would have done more with his character after that mini arc.

I'm not on the Veruca bandwagon by any means, but I agree with some that she was a necessary character. She made it easier to take some of the hate away from Oz and focus it on her. I mean, lets face it...most of us have been with our significant others at one point and time and encountered a Veruca. It's aggrivating...it's humiliating...And it downright pisses you off! I think Joss knew that, thus creating her character. I think if Oz had just left Willow high and dry the disappointment would have fallen on him. After all, who could appreciate a man who just leaves someone as sweet and caring as Willow? So then there was Veruca. Cynical, seductive, slightly trashy...all the things that Willow was not.
But in the end, even after the animal sex...When Oz touched Willows face and told her that he'd never loved anything else, I fell in love with him all over again. I understood then that he was leaving her so that he would never again hurt her. And I despised Veruca.
