View Full Version : How much she doesn't care.

I watched The Wish last night and something struck me as odd...even for high school Cordelia. When Harmony tells her that Xander and Willow are dead she doesn't so much as flinch. The next immediate shot she is freaking out about her car (or lack there of) and being more than a little racist I might add.
I found it odd that a girl who only a few eipisodes before had claimed she loved Xander couldn't even spare an expession on the news of his death. I know she was devastated at how he and Willow betrayed her but seriously she had essentially killed them with her wish and yet nothing! I found it strange how much she did not care.

Well I'm sure she did care, but just wasn't allowed to show it in front of Harmony. In that reality she was suddenly the greatest again so she probably just didn't want to screw this up by being affected by someone like Xander.
It did seem very callous of her, but I always assumed it was good old heartless Cordelia, not caring very much at all unless it effected her.
Plus she knew how much Willow and Xander got into trouble, and knew that if Buffy wasn't around then they'd more than likely got themselves killed.

I still don't by that. She obviously didn't expect them to be dead since she asked Harmony if they were miserable, expecting them both to still be Sunnydale students. And the whole not wanting to react infront of Harmony thing doesn't work either, she was Quenn C in this reality, much more so than before. She could have worn a dog on her head and they would have said it was trés chic!

Such a sweet thread. Thank you Kean. Do you understand what you just did? Here you have it folks, Cordy didnīt care that much about Xander. So who is her true love? Who does she belong to? You know it. A yes, Cangel is the real thing.
Come on. I had to do it. But of course there could be a lot of reasons for her reaction. But I have my story and Iīm sticking to it.

LMAO. So true. At least until she gets to Angel.
But, what about Doyle? I think, given the chance for that relationship to develop, it could have been one of the best on the show. Thank you, Joss, for not letting anyone ever be truly happy on the show, hahaha.

I seem to remember Cordelia making a speech at some point, something like, "I have to have the most expensive shoes in the shop. Not because they're the most expensive, but because they cost more." With that kind of logic, this chowder head just figured that Xander and Willow weren't really dead, they just weren't alive anymore. See? Vamp Xander and Willow would fit right in with that logic.
I have to agree with Miss K here about one thing. With that kind of thinking, it's no wonder that she's fixated on Nina's boyfriend.
i think Cordelia is her own true love LOL
Theres a mental image I so didn't need.

I agree that she didn't seemt to react strongly enough to finding out that Xander and Willow were dead. She was kinda "Oh NO! Well okay then..." about the whole deal.
Within the story I've put it down to her realising that this world wasn't the one she belonged in by that point and her starting to understand that nothing there was how it was meant to be, like the way you see your favourite character killed in an alternate reality story and don't care because you know it will be all back to normal next week. In reality I'd say it was more down to having a lot to do in the space of 42 minutes and having to progress the story as quickly as possible, meaning emotional moments didn't get the time they maybe deserved.
Edit:
I really hate it then people "screw" with my head. Even then itīs not on purpose. BB changes her av and here you are with her old one. Donīt be mad if I call you blondie. ;)
That's fine, although been a hell of a long time since I was even close to being blonde, hehe. ;)

I always thought the sheer shock of it everything that was going on was muting her sense of grief.
Anya going all demony, being in this weird place where no one is and she didn't understand what was going on.
I think if it were ME, and I'm SUPER emotional, would have kind of had it dulled down by the shock of that world. It was a pretty horrible place.
