I just dont get all the negativity alot of people seem to have about this season, i loved it. Is it really 'hated'?

I hate it, I thought it was bland and boring hate hate hate it.
I adore S4, I loved all of it. Granted, Adam and The Initiative were a little boring and not your usual bad guys, but then again, neither was The Trio.
S4 had a lot of good things. The introduction of Tara, Anya coming back, Spike returning, Oz's leaving was one of the saddest moments of the series.
Plus, S4 had a lot of great episodes: 'Hush', 'Restless', 'This Years Girl', 'Who Are You?', 'Pangs', 'Something Blue', 'Primeval'.
S4 is great. What's not to love?

I LOVE most of it, but by the time we have Faith coming back for about 2 seconds and Buffy constantly whining about Riley and then Adam and military....I want to either hit fast forward or jump back to watch the Thanksgiving one again, just so I can laugh and enjoy for a bit.

I admit I didn't like The Initiative or Riley at first but they grew on me and I have always LOVED the overall feel of the season and the changes in the characters that went with it.

Didn't originally like Reilly, the Initiative or the college setting; thus, I hated the season for long, but it really grew on me in re-watching. Still can't find myself to like Reilly, though.

I wasn't too kean about Adam.
But what i love is the college setting. Maybe it's just my newly established university life, but I can SO relate to anything there (sadly even to a certain Parker story)
I guess if I must choose one season as the worst I would pick season 4.
But I still like to watch it. Most episodes are great. Just as great as episodes from any other season.
For me it is just that Adam never really did it for me as the main villain.

I hate this season! It's my least favourite. Thankfully season 5 picked up and was much stronger.
Although it did have its good points like Anya and the new Spike. I loved Spike in Pangs.

I didn't really know so chose Riley just because he really annoys me lol
But everything else on the list works effectively and has a defined purpose

I'm amazed at how many people consider S-4 to be the "worst" season of the Buffy series. I loved S-4. Crazy college life; The Initiative, big gov't conspiracy, gov't made demon/man/machine hybrid thingy... chipped Spike, Anya, two of my MOST EVER fav eppys -"Pangs", and "Something Blue" (loved seeing Buffy & Spike in love, LOL!) Oz (even tho he left in S-4, we still got some good Oz-time!) and Ok, I'm not/never have been a Tara fan, but I know many others are, & S-4 is when we got Tara.
Oh! - & let's not forget the "Angel" crossovers. And last but not least - FAITH. We got some of the best Buffy/Faith fights in S-4. Yup, I just loved it. :D (But then, I actually liked Reilly, too....please don't shoot me...)

I like the majority of the episodes, overally It wasent too bad a season, but it's not one of my fav's.
I didnt really like it due to the whole Initiative thing and as many have already said - Riley- he just bugged me for some reason.

I liked Reilly more in s5 than s4. In s4 he was a smarmy, all American, poofy git. But in s5, *I* felt sorry for him. Buffy was ,grrrrr, wrong in 'into the woods'

Well, I can't say season 4 was my favorite, but I did like it a lot. The main problem I had with it was the bland Initiative/Adam plotline, but there were other factors, too, including the occasional weak episode (Beer Bad, Superstar, Where the Wild Things Are, etc.) But, on the flip side, it had a lot of redeeming qualities, including:
- Spike getting a chip and becoming the Scoobies' hilarious houseguest.
- A lot of outstanding standalones, including Pangs, Something Blue, Hush, and Restless.
- The Buffy-Faith body swap. This Year's Girl and Who Are You? are both great episodes.
- The introduction of Tara, the beginning of her relationship with Willow, and the start of my all-time favorite ship!
- Xander and Anya's relationship officially starts, and they quickly became another one of my favorite ships.
I think season 4 is so unpopular for three reasons; one, a lot of people (including myself) often overlook the good qualities of season 4 and go right to the bad; two, it's the first season without the ever-popular Buffy/Angel relationship; and three, it's the end of Buffy's high school experience. But overall, its good qualities outnumber the bad. Plus, it's a lot better than seasons 1 and 7.

Apart from Obviously Restless, Hush, Who are you... Does anyone else LOVE: The harsh light of day(especially), Wild at heart, The Initiative and Superstar or Fear itself?

I loved The Harsh Light Of Day, you can always trust Spike to jump start an episode. Also it lead to In The Dark which is a great Angel episode.
And even though it's called The Initiative and a lot of Initiative-y stuff in it, all the scenes with Spike are fantastic, especially the one with him and Willow in the dorm room. One of my favourite moments of season 4.

The two things i didn't like about season four was "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Doomed" -they are probably my least favourite episodes overall. I really like season four overall. It has some truely excellent episodes and was pretty darn funny too.
