Did Kristine want to leave? Did she want to be killed off?

I think in the s5 bonus material, Joss talks about how she wanted to leave in s4, but Joss talked her into returning for one more season because he wanted to kill her off. I cant remember the reason she wanted to leave though.

^ I think she was going away for a very long time, and Joss told her to make sure she was back for season five because he was planning on killing her off. I don't think she wanted to leave the show completely at all. Not quite sure though.

She was going to Italy to house sit for a friend, and informed Joss she wouldn't be available for long time, almost all of S4 and a little beyond. And Joss was like 'No! You have to come back! I have to kill you!' Kristine promised to return in time for S5 to start.

I think Kristine knew Joss was planning on bringing her back for a few episodes, so she probably wasn't all that disappointed to be leaving.

I'm sure that by Season 4 everybody on the show had worked out that being killed off was the only sure way to guarantee a place in future episodes!

Somehow I feel at home in this thread....weird....haha.

I do know about the Italy sitch in season 4 though. She and her family lived there for a year so their daughter could learn a language organically- apparently she was into the whole learning-languages thing. I believe she's working on a photographic essay based on images she took while in Italy, but it's under her photography professional name.

Ironically though her timing for going to Italy fit in with Season 4. First year of college- do ANY of us see our parents AT ALL that year? Haha. But I don't think it was ever an issue of wanting to leave the show, but wanting to go to Italy if that makes sense. Whether he needed her so she could be killed off in season 5 or not I think she was still planning on coming back she was just...taking a year out. Like people do.

In a cast interview they were all saying that they got all teary-eyed at the end of The Body when they threw her a goodbye party. Though she won't ever look at the pictures because she still had her morgue make-up when they were taken! haha.
