I may go out and buy a DS for this.

Although i can't see it being that good going back to the crater that is Sunnydale to seal the re-opened Hellmouth.

Still its Buffy+Video Game so it equals some kind of good.

I love it when two passions of mine come together.

Ok guys, been looking for some info for you, so far all i've found out are 3 locations: "Another Dimension", "Cemetary Hill" and interestingly "Wilkin's Crypt". And it doesn't look like it's canon, characters confirmed are The First, Caleb, The Master, Angel and of course, Spike! =D

Ooh! It looks like so much fun! Luckily, I have a DS, so I'll be able to get this one. I hope there are playable characters besides Buffy (although a Xander level would be a real pain...)

Does anyone else think a game set during season 8 would be a lot of fun?

No, i think it would end up being cel shaded and all comic-ey, and having comic style sound effects when you hit someone. Best to keep it realistic.

Has anyone seen the screenshots yet? There's a (i assume) enemy that looks like a tanned Spike, i hope he's gonna be playable and not a boss D=

and also, i hope these are really early screenshots and there's still plenty of graphics work to do X_X

and am i the only one worried about it being developed by 505 Games? D=

Anyone else hoping this comes with pre-order incentives? Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass came with a Quill shaped stylus if you pre-ordered it, Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword came with a Dragon Sword shaped one if you pre-ordered it. Maybe, if we're really really lucky, Sacrifice might come with a M? shaped stylus or a stake shaped one

Trouble is, it'll probably only be Americans that get it D=

Wow it looks really bad, I hate when the story just doesn't make sense, why set if after season 7 in Sunnydale, clearly that guy stopped paying attention after he finished working on Buffy in season 2!

The graphics need allot of work, but the first person bit looks like it could be interesting.

If this was being treated like an actual game it could be pretty cool, but I bet it will just be flung together with a bunch of stuff to get out Buffy-Senses tingling (Like Wilkins crypt) and put out there knowing we'll buy it cuz it's buffy.

Seeing as there's a location called "Another Dimension" there's a good chance it's an alternate universe story, probably an alternate universe where Sunnydale wasn't craterised

Huh. I'm feeling oppressed now.

Well I missed out on being "of the gamer generation".
I've only owned and played very few games all told.
I've never owned a Nintendo, Xbox or anything of the sort.
Never intend to no matter what game they make.
Then again, I've never owned a cell phone either.
Maybe I'm just very strange.

Edit:

XD Only someone who doesn't play games would talk about owning a "Nintendo"! *fetches some slippers, a blanket, and a cup of nice warm tea for Superstar*
Forgot the rockin' chair.

So.. is saying Nintendo bad? Really dated? Both? Neither? I don't know.
Would "Atari" have been better? Is Nintendo NES now? Help!
I do PC only on what few I have played so it's all Babylonian to me.
I kinda get it, but the nuances escape me.

Blondie Bear

^ Nintendo is the name of the company. The actual platform was the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). Though when I was younger and owned one, I called it "playing Nintendo," as well. So, *shrug*

I am quite excited for this! Finally, my DS will be good for something other than sitting in my purse for pictochatting with friends on the train, haha.

I wish they would come out with a Buffy game for something like the PS3 that went through all seven seasons of the show and each boss battle was the big bad. I think it would be so very epic to be able to fight the Master, Angelus, Faith, Snake Mayor, Adam, Glory, Dark Willow, Caleb, etc. *drool* Only in my wildest fantasies though. I will have to stick to RP'ing. XD

Also, it would so awesome if they came out with a Buffy game for the Wii where you could physically fight and stake vampires. *dreamy sigh*

Clem Rocks

So.. is saying Nintendo bad?

It's very bad and extremely annoying, it's like saying you were gonna play a Sony or a Microsoft. Nintendo is a company, not something you can have or play on.

It's like people who call a DS and NDS, you don't have SPSP's or MXbox360's, so why should a DS be an NDS?[/personal little rant]

Superstar
07-11-2008, 03:25 PM
Nintendo is the name of the company.
Yeah, that I knew.
Eh. Funny thing is, my parents owned and ran a video arcade when I was jr. high and high school - still do for all I know.
Consequently, I avoided all electronic games of the sort and hung out in the pool halls that allowed under-age people due to no alcohol on the premises.

Blondie Bear agrees: Don't worry about it. Everybody's got to have something to be elitist about, I guess.
Well, when the response comes from someone with "The Alpha Gamer" in their title, I'm not overly concerned.

And "The Alpha Gamer" is my username on other forums, i put that there because i watermarked it on one of my sigs and didn't want anyone here thinking i'd stolen the sig from anyone

Edit:

Key features:

• Play as Buffy the Vampire Slayer through 24 levels using a third person camera.
• Unlock and use more than 20 types of unique Slayer weapons.
• Fight more than 12 different level bosses and sub-bosses, including First Evil, the boss of all bosses.
• Play “Challenge Mode” in first-person for fast-paced action and an increased difficulty level.
• Solve puzzle missions to unlock new areas.
• Collect spells to increase Buffy’s supernatural and physical abilities.
• Explore 12 dynamic environments and search for up to four hidden ones.
• Use breakable objects located within in all environments to battle demons and vampires.
• Unique story set after the climactic seventh season of the TV series, written by Rob Deshotel, one of the original writers of the TV series.
• Explore locations from the TV show, including Sunnydale High, the Bronze and the Hellmouth.

Edit:

sorry guys, just found out you Americans aren't getting it D=

Bet you're glad DS's are region free huh?

I really wish someone would make a good Buffy game for a home console. Like chii said, the PS3 would be great. I mean, if it was developed by a team who actually were fans. Just imagine, now they could do all seven seasons, with a full size sandbox Sunnydale! You could just wander around patroling, or go to the library to advance the season arc, go to (or avoid) school/college, play as Willow, Spike, Faith, Tara. It would be great. You could even face off against all the big bads properly. Just imagine how cool the Graduation and battle in the Hellmouth could be!

But it will never be.

And don't worry Superstar, I'm only teasing! *sneaks off to find a rocking chair*

I couldn't find this in any threads, so I decided to make one. (Sorry if one has been made.)

So, Buffy is coming to the Nintendo DS. The new game is going to be called Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Sacrifice.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Sacrifice combines third-person and first-person gameplay to create an all-new experience in the Buffyverse. The stakes are high for players as they take on the role of Buffy to seal the re-opened Hellmouth in an original story penned by Rob Deshotel, a writer from the TV series.

This action-packed 3D survival horror game sees Buffy using a range of special weapons, powerful spells and martial arts to take out vicious vampires and demons. In addition to these enemies, players also come across recognizable characters from the show, including Spike, Angel, the Master, the First Evil, Caleb and, of course, the Scooby Gang." - IGN

Yeah, and your Guinness is cheaper also. Is there no justice? (well there is that whole gas pump thing, I'm whining at 4.20 American.....for diesel. What are you all paying for it in pounds across the pond?)

I don't care if I have to fly over there, I will own this game. I love the DS interface as well as Buffy. This seems a match made in heaven that could only be bested by Wii staking.

I had not realized that there were two other (horrible it seems) Buffy games for the gameboy untill I researched this topic alittle. Now I must have them/find them also...even if they are craptacular.

On the side, do any of you know of any game modifications and Construction sets for other games that could be or are Buffy friendly, you know...make your own Buffy game??

I only know of only one....maybe two, and it is Morrowind (and its succesor Oblivion). The game has spells and such, friendly for Willow as well as allready having a mod. to put Buffy's face on your NPC....the game allready has vampires (but the true game version sucks....also fixed by mods...someone even had a Buffy styled vampire face awhile back if memory serves for vamps.) deamons, and werewolves as well as both ancient weapons and modded modern ones.

I'm basically testing the water here....anyone wondering more about Morrowind as it could be applied to Buffy let me know and i'll start up another thread, but if this hamster is just spinning his wheel....well, I'll get tired of it soon enough....damn wheel, it is so much unlike a ball. Atleast a ball lets you get somwhere.

1. Dunno about the petrol (I don't have a car)
2. It should be fairly cheap on Ebay or an import site, you shouldn't need to fly over here lol
3. Not even Buffy-fying it can make Marrowind good, and i don't know if this is the kind of thing you mean, but you can make Buffy characters using the CAW mode in the latest WWE games

Thats the nice thing about having running the games on a computer rather than home console; a comp and a scanner and a construction set that will let you retexture stuff and make the appearances almost lifelike is pretty cool....I could not do this mind you, but having access to a good mod maker that can do it without smoking their PC is pretty easy! In fact alot of bare bones Buffy mods are allready out there waiting to be unzipped by WINRAR and plugged into the game. Its the small stuff in a total conversion thats a pain in the arse...like making curbs and sidewalks and modern weapon models....WAY beyond me. Then there is the research; I borrowed Buffy RPG books and watched season one over and over again to try to just figure the libraries layout correctly.

Alot of work for a headache, but still fun in a masochistic sort of way. In the end I settled for just playing Buffy in the Morrowind game...but I did have the tools to make a Buffy game though sadly not the know how.

My Buffy in Morrowind looked like her, much better than the Chaos Bleeds models for the box, PS2 and cube, and I could 'control console' the character skills in and set them to what I thought would be good for Buffy. It was actually fun...even with morrowinds strange hybrid RPG/FPS interface for combat and the incredibly lame "I can not kick with hand to hand combat." factored in. I do stress though...any good Buffy game must naturally have kicking.

On this I can only speak for Morrowind, my computer is far to brain damaged to run oblivion even if its specs were up to snuff rather than snot!

Sadly my computer lost its mind when I tried to use a construction set, which is way more than just a create a character,....its mora a game builders tool used primarely for quest/item/character/gameplay tweaking and creating; In my meltdowns case I was trying to recreate Sunnydale and had way to many mods and texture replacers in play.

I know it can be done, I just screwed it up :P

As far as wresteling games go and create a wrestler....I've been doing that for Buffy since Smack Down Know your Role.

Unfortunately after 3 or so consecutive wrestling games and really getting upset over Eddie G's death and Benoits murder suicide...and finding out my old hero Stone Cold was a wife beating duche bag...oh and the hulkster was sleeping with his daughters friend....well if not for Batista/Levithan and Cena/Prototype I would have given completely up on the squared circle awhile ago. As it stands I can't yet stomache the games.

I've heard deus Ex has a good construction set perhaps a good construction set awaits me there, but Morrowind seemd a good start. I actually liked it for its story and openendedness.

Whoever said that bit about going on patrol (open endedness) or just roaming Sunnydale and opening up the seasons as you want to (for gameplay) You got Karma coming your way. Great Idea. When you build your own game experience by modding you can make it as good as you imagine it.

I wouldn't be surprised if it suddenly has changed. I ordered Order of Ecclesia on the 16th, ready for its release on the 17th, literally overnight they set the release date back a month.

Well the release date i'd always heard for that was 31th of Oct, now the UK versions not coming out til next year, i was gonna import it on Ebay, but i got Sonic Chronicles instead.

anyway, keeping on topic, i hope Buffy does come out that early

You should pick up Buffy Chaos Bleeds mate, it is a pretty enjoyable game. The story line is pretty unique, and you get to play as Buffy, Xander, Willow, Faith and Spike. It's challenging though when you are fighting a pack of vamps, but you just have to learn to keep your guard up and use combinations, so it's good in a sense of realism.

I am planning to play the game tonite now that i am talking about it, brings back good memories.
