I don't know if there's a lot of territory for discussion here, but I was just musing over something, and I thought I'd share some info on the chance somebody might be able to use it.
I've hung around Buffy message boards for awhile, and here's a list of the TV Shows I've seen pop up the most in conversations.
Charmed - This would be number 1 for consistency, longevity, and amount of discussion.
Recent would be Lost, Heroes, and the new Doctor Who.
Much discussion for periods of time then crickets - Gilmore Girls, Hex, and possibly Veronica Mars.
Popping up infrequently but sooner or later there it will be - Freaks and Geeks, and Wonderfalls
For what it's worth there's one fan's memories of shows that have been discussed noticeably with some frequency, or persistence over the years by Buffy people. Perhaps there's some DVD ideas there.
I would've said Supernatural as well, but then again I haven't seen much in the way of discussion about it on here now I come to think about it. Hmmm....
I have watched all those you mentioned except Wonderfalls, Gilmore Girls and Freaks and Geeks, they just never appealed to me, not sure why.

I would've said Supernatural as well, but then again I haven't seen much in the way of discussion about it on here now I come to think about it. Hmmm....
Not much discussion but there seem to be a lot of people watching it. Same goes for BSG and maybe even Arrested development. But that just might be my VH-influence talking. Since this is the only Buffy-board I´ve been coming to I can´t add anything else.
But maybe HIMYM, Bones and Tru Calling might fit the description for obvious reasons.

Yeah will have to agree with tru calling, love that show, also yeh i watch supernatural too, used to watch charmed but then you could tell after series 6 they were getting really desperate for ideas and using any little thing they could think of.
Other than that i pretty much like
family guy
futurama
hex
angel
buffy (obviously)
tru calling
supernatural
charmed (early seasons)
two and a half men
top gear
and like fakeshemp all of the british comedies

Supernatural definately should be on the list. Not because I watch it, but because Joyce mentions it enough for all of us. Usually with a little drool in the corner of her mouth!

You can also add:
Dark Angel
Smallville
Law & Order (all versions)
CSI (all versions)
Criminal Minds
Moonlight
(and in syndication)
Quantum Leap
Star Trek (all versions)
Star Gate (all versions)
(and a ton of old series on dvd. The list would be just too long to compile)

Would be really interesting to put together a poll – the kind where you're able to select many options – with all these shows, and see how many people watch/watched these different shows....

Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck, The Shield
Boston Legal

If there is a poll, I'd like Sex Feet Under and Twin Peaks in it as well. Not because I think there are that many people who have those shows in common, but it would be interesting to see... And did we mention Alias already? And I'm guessing we've mentioned Bones?

That's a most cool idea. I notice others are interested. Hold off on doing anything with this for awhile OK guys. We the staff are going to try to put something together with this new survey software we're tinkering with.
For now show suggestions are appreciated.

Besides Buffyverse?
Definitely a bunch already mentioned: Arrested Development!, Family Guy, Gilmore Girls, House MD, Doctor Who, Freaks & Geeks, That 70s Show.
A couple not mentioned: Friends, Sex & the City
Funny side note: I was watching the episode of Sex & The City called 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and Sarah Jessica Parker's character was wearing the EXACT same outfit Buffy wears in 'No Place Like Home' during the spell. The light shirt with the little devil head and the tan pants.

I guess I'm in the minority here.
Most of those shows I've never seen.
I do watch LOST although I'm bored with it.
I TRY and watch Charmed in the mornings, but it really does nothing for me.
I DO watch
CSI (all of them, but Miami just so I can laugh at David Caruso)
Law and Order (all of them)
The Closer and Saving Grace because I feel the need to support TNT, although I DO adore The Closer.
USA shows, The Dead Zone (apparently over), Psych, Monk, In Plain Site...I feel the need to support USA also.
Criminal Minds
Eli Stone
Medium
Chuck
Cold Case
Without A Trace
Big Bang Theory
HIMYM
Ghost Whisperer
Moonlight
Numbers
Bones
Terminator SCC
Super Nanny
Wife Swap
Suvivor (with the whole family at Mom and Dad's house on Thursdays, it's a thing, I can't explain it)
Plus, Forensic Files and all the GOOD real mystery shows like it. And, Animal Cops on Animal Planet.

I can't help much but watch Charmed as it airs here on Mondays right between Eureka (love that one, it's splendidly weird!) and the Buffy-Angel block. But Charmed doesn't really work for me... sometimes even keep it running at very low volume and pull out a book until Buffy starts, or go cook me some dinner with it running in te background...
With Supernatural, I didn't really get into it either. Watched a couple of the first eps (loved the one with Amy Acker as a Guest Star, of course... especially since she had that bathtub scene :blushy: ) but it couldn't keep my attention, seemed too monster-of-the-weekish for me. Will this be another solid brick for the love-hate-relationship I have with Joyce here? :D (But hun, hope you know the balance is VEEERRRRYYYY tilted towards the L-side! ;) )
Also like Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy and its spinoff Private Practice (yes, two of the three have a main character to fuel my by now probably well-known redhead fetish...). And of course, I was a diehard Trekkie back in the days when Trek hadn't yet turned into rubbish.: spock :: data ::heart:

Hey, something is happening with my idea, this is cool.
Old Master III agrees: Uh, I think you'd better read over your post, luv. Methinks someone has more than schoolwork on their mind..... ;) :p :p
Lol, see that's what happens when you think of two shows at once, obviously I mixed Six Feet Under and Sex & The City :D

I like C.S.I (Vegas), T:SCC, Chuck, and House. I've gotten kind of interested in Coupling and Not Going Out, but I keep forgetting they're on. :(

Besides Buffy and Angel, huh? I have a few:
Arrested Development.
The Office.
Heroes (I loved Season 1, but Season 2 was...ehhhh).
Daria.
South Park.
And oodles more that I can't remember. I want to watch Dr. Who because my friend is obsessed and David Tennant is yum, but I don't know where I can watch it! Also, if anyone has recommendations of good TV shows for me to watch, tell me; as long as they're not a soap opera, drama, or cheesy teen show, I'll probably like it.
PS: No, do not request Charmed! I've tried watching it, I really have, and I can't stand it. I just can't bring myself to like it.

I like Lost, Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, Wonderfalls, The 4400, and a few others that a lot of others here also seem to like. However, I'm lonely in my love for The Pretender.
And I just found out that DDD enjoys Murder, She Wrote, so I'm not alone in the love for that, yippee!

Let's see...I'm fairly certain most of mine have already been mentioned, but:
Firefly (duh.)
Arrested Development (funniest show ever.)
The Office (US version)
Heroes (like Yam Sham said, first season was great, second season wasn't.)
How I Met Your Mother (I still haven't watched a lot of episodes, but I really love what I've seen!)
And I don't see what the huge appeal is with Charmed. I've seen the first season, and it had its moments, but overall, it's not very good. The acting is mediocre, the characters are two-dimensional, the writing is just lousy...I suppose what I'm trying to say is that Charmed is mindless. I especially hate how everyone thinks you'll love it if you love Buffy just because the genres are similar.

Here's another one you can add to my list: Penn & Teller: Bull****!
I find myself agreeing with it most of the time...and the rest...well,it cheeses me off. (palabra might like the show, because it approaches subjects from a libertarian point of view.)
If you haven't seen it yet,do. But be warned Penn has quite the potty mouth-not only because it's on pay cable, but so as to ensure the show doesn't get sued for what it says.

Alright, I was wondering if there was a thread like this, glad I looked and didn't make a new one. I seriously am like the hugest TV freak so I am always interested in what other shows people like especially those who love Buffy. I have to say I am shocked barely anyone listed Veronica Mars, aside from this thread I've found that most VM fans are Buffy fans. When VM came out it constantly got compared to Buffy, not neccesarily due to context or content, but you know, strong female figure, brilliant writing etc, etc, etc. Joss Whedon himself coined himself Veronica Mars' #1 fan, he loved it so much he made a cameo in S2 (watch it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StdAbIrJCn8) and wrote the DVD commentary for EW which you can read by clicking here: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,1114734,00.html. So yeah, if you guys are looking for a show to rent I would definitely look to Veronica Mars first, if you don't believe me, believe Joss ;) Plus, bonus, Charisma Carpenter AND Alyson Hannigan are both in it!
Now on to my list of shows!
All time favorites:
Ally McBeal, Veronica Mars, My So-Called Life, Roswell, Dawson's Creek, Popular, Freaks and Geeks, Dead Like Me, That 70's Show, Felicity, 90210, Party of Five, The X-Files, Gilmore Gilrls, The O.C., Moonlight
Current Stuff I watch:
Brothers and Sisters, Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Dexter, Weeds, Big Love, Prison Break, Gossip Girl, Samantha Who, Private Practice, Pushing Daisies, Bones, Desperate Housewives, Friday Night Lights

I'm surprised only a few people have mentioned Chuck. I think a lot of Buffy fans would like that. No vampires or demons obviously, but it shares a lot of other elements with Buffy. It's a mix of action and comedy. It features a strong female character (although not as the lead in Chuck's case). The main character has a secret life that was thrust upon them and they can't walk away from it. There's a most-likely doomed romantic subplot involving two of the main characters. I'd recommend people giving this show a shot. I'm not saying it's as good as Buffy, but its still pretty damn good and has the potential to get better if it doesn't get cancelled by NBC. It seems like NBC is actually behind it though.

I forgot to add Chuck to my list. So let me rectify that right now.
I caught most of the eps last year, and was impressed with what I saw.
(And for you comic book fans...there's a 6 issue limited series out now.)

True Blood, anyone? New HBO series- It's kick arse! I didn't have very high expectations at first, but I really like it. It reminds me of a country Buffy and Angel. LOL.
Oh, and BONES, BONES, and more BONES! yum. DB...yum.
And def my reruns of Tru Calling. Even though I've seen them a million times, I still DVR them.
And yes...WWE, and TNA baby. I'm a big fat pro-wrestling fan. Sue me. :lmao:

The Mighty Boosh, The Mighty Boosh, and oh, did I mention The Mighty Boosh? (Noel Fielding..AH *faints*)
And apart from the Mighty Boosh, I also like House M.D., Dr Who, Greek, Skins (I LOVE THEM SOO MUCH..), Greenwing, The Office UK, the IT Crowd, QI, Nevermind the Buzzcocks.. Hm, I'm not really a series kind of person, but I like good English comedy.
I don't like Charmed though, I think they are all horrible actresses and for one episode it's not too bad but, you know, it gets annoying after some time. I used to like Grey's Anatomy and Lost, but its been a loooong time since I last watched it.

I'm a little late to the True Blood party, as I see some of you guys have been chatting it up for a while now, but I finally got into it, and I'm loving it.
I can definitely see Buffy people getting into True Blood.
