Why does Andrew say this in the final episode, why would he have swimmers ear?

The point is that it's supposed to be completely random...who would scream "I have swimmers' ear!" while being attacked by a group of angry ubervamps? It's such an Andrew thing to do.

If I remember the commentary correctly. Tom Lenk improv'ed that in during the scene and Joss loved it so much that he kept it.

It's definitely something Andrew would say to try and get out of a fight...I always loved it :)

yeah its funny and its like he's basically screaming that he has a note from his mom, to get out of the fight... and we needed that line in chosen, thats whats always so great about the show. funny in the face of death.

I figured it is reference to some famous movie or book i have not seen or forgotten. All Andrew quotes in a way are that kind.

i dont think all his lines are quotes, he likes to reference sure but he's just geeky... like the Godzilla thing.. he got so geeked out by it that he had to ask Xander to explain... (Whiney and a geek out) "Xaaanderrrr..."

with buffy, you know thats how the writers actually speak... and how a lot of us speak i think.
