Since the last thread is over 200 posts I thought I should start a new one ( I duno if that rule applies to this section or not but I figured it wouldn't hurt) And Kiwis can join in too:)

Its always nice to see local talent around when you're abroad hey DoI, Mind you, I haven't really been overseas (cept USA and Rotto hehe) but I know I got all excited seeing a Perth band in Sydney once :) LOL

I dont have Foxtel or anything Bunnies so I watch Buffy or Angel quite often when Im drunk on DVD :p Especially OMWF hehe. Its when I get most of my mates to at least watch some form of Buffy. But I think I turn them off with my singing pretty quick.

Anyone else already incredibly bored with the state election? Im glad it is not too far off, I have no idea when I am going to get down to vote though, I'll be hell busy all day. Oh well do they do postal votes on state elections? They are soooo much easier.

Anyway I hope all my fellow Aussies around the world are happy and healthy and having a good day :)

I'm pretty sure they do postal votes for state elections too, I saw someone in my lecture today filling one in. Buuuuut I could have been mistaken as to what it was.

I haven't even been paying attention to when it's actually on. Knowing me I'll totally forget on the day and cop a fee for not voting. FUNFUN!

I must admitt Im terrible when it comes to politics! I dont pay attention at all! I just go, vote for Labour or the Greens then get the hell out!, I got a question for you, is the Air I Breath or Southland Tales out in Australia? never saw em at the movies (I dont think anyone did!) so I am waiting for them to come out on DVD so I can rent them from the video store.

Lily
08-25-2008, 05:29 AM
I'm a young Lib so i'm not 'allowed' to be fed-up with the election already lol, but i'm feeling you, cause when i'm not involved in them they are SO BORING and everywhere :(

i miss the election stuff, i'm usually at boozy political dinners every night around this time! damn, i should totally go home!

08-25-2008, 05:47 AM
OOh yeah Lily come home and take me along to these boozy liberal parties!!
Aleris, is there an election in NSW too? Im hoping I can do a postal vote but I duno if they know my new address?? hehe ooops :p
Bunnies Southland tales should be in the new release section of your local video shop, I saw it just recently. I wouldnt get too excited about it though.

ok thanks! oh boy Ive had a rotten day, Kinslayer is tring to cheer me up by sending me Aussie Jokes.....damn they are terrible! really off colour and sterotypical! I dont think Ive ever said "G'day" and meant it! Gotta love kin, hes just trying to help! lol. Do aussie sterotypes bother you guys? they dont make me furious or anything but, I do get frustrated that other countries think we are all a bunch of bogans! lol.

Ok, so I canīt do a joke to save my life so what do I do? I ran to the nearest aussie I know and asks for help. Get some bad jokes but thinking still better than nothing. Feels bad about it so I run to google for help. Seems the cheering up needs to be done real fast so I donīt bother to read the jokes. Just sending her links and throw in a little Monty python as well. I try my best but jokes isnīt my thing!! :( Who said I was a funny guy? But I can send you some jokes about swedes if that would make things better? You know, many of us are blondes so that makes for some jokes. ;)

Love you bunnies! And Aussie, Lily, Aleris, Doi, Bubble Buffy, Drusillarox and everyone else I forgot. :grouphug:

Oh, and I forgot. Yes, ALL of Aussies jokes rule. ;)

Can you tell some Aussie jokes? I don't know any yet :D
This reminds me of a situation I had a couple of weeks back. Inge and I were riding the bus to Maastricht, when we heard some oldish lady make a joke about Germans...well the funniest thing about it was that I actually understood all of it, with my nice Dutch skills, and complete played like I couldn't understand a word of what they were saying.

Lily

mwahahah i love doing that on the train, I speak enough french to understand at least the jist of conversations and it is so hilarious hearing the french tourists bagging out the other people on the train, I usually just smirk at them, and keep quiet, but this one guy about a month ago was being SUCH a jackass, as I got off the train I insulted him in French, it was so fun to see his face go all pale heehee

Hi ya I was just wondering have any of you met any of the cast of buffy or angel?, Id really love that, but everytime a convention or something was on I never heard about it, I guess coming on here ill be up on whats going on. The idea of going to a convention always seemed a little (makes that star trek gesture with her hand) "go forth and prosper", but now I really wanna go to one! There is only one friend I could probably drag to one...man if any of my friends knew I was chatting online and it was about buffy they would give me such a hard time for it! thats right you guys are my dirty little secret! lol. I have managed to meet alot of bands. At fox studios when they use to have bands play at channel v we would go down, Ive meet Queen's of the Stone Age, Garbage, Grinspoon, Foo Fighters and Powderfinger that way. Oh and just last month I somehow ended up in The Living End's dressing room having drinks with them! that was freaking awsome, they are really nice guys!.

Aussie
08-27-2008, 12:37 AM
Oh I'm so jealous! How did you manage that?^
There was a convention thing not long ago with a few diff sci fi personalities called SupaNova. Jewel Staite (Kaylee from Firefly) and Jared Padalecki (Sam from Supernatural) were there. I didn't go as they were the only thing/people I wanted to see and no one would have come with me either :p I think it is on every year but I'm not too sure. Here's the link anyway-

Lily
08-27-2008, 06:28 PM
god that movie was terrible!
my best friend met Nick and James and I think ASH when she was at a a couple conventions, she's one of those people that will drive 8 hours and go by herself, I'm not like that, I'd have to have someone come with me, but she has awesome phtoos and I don't, so I guess it paid off! She went to the Sydney con that Sarah went to one year, but Sarah didn't do any autographs or photos *sigh* so that was a shame cause that's all I wanted!

COmpletely random, but I have to tel this anyway :D I went to a bar tonight with one of my roommates, who goes to UCM, well there was some kind of UCM welcome party at that bar. Anyway, turns out there are TONS of Australian exchange students from Sydney going to UCM for this year...oh I just love to hear them talk English, haha. Well, unfortunately me myself, I'm not UCM (I'm UM) and since I have one of the few studycourses that is completely taught in Dutch all the people in my class will be either Dutch, Belgian or German...so no Aussies for me :(

Ok I finally found and watched Southland Tales....What a pile of monkey spunk! lol. The Rock should NOT be allowed to act, if thats what you freaking call it! There really should be a law of some kind!. SMG was the best thing in it, she made me giggle at some parts. The most that movie did was make me wanna watch Donny Darko again, that is far supirior to this, and I actually understood that. I get the gist of this movie but can someone plz tell me what the hell is goin on? like what the hell was that bit where smg the rock and mandy moore are dancing togehter? I have a vague idea but mostly I was like huh?.

LOL that's hillarious! What's even more worrying is the way they look at you and judge you without bagging you out to their other person in their own language.

I like to call it the: "I'm a better person then you" look. Some Chinese guy decided to give me that look and I was already in a bad mood, so I gave him the finger and I really did mean it in the nicest possible way (lol) and told him to self-destruct on the train floor if he continued to look at me with a dirty look.

I must have said it so loud , because everyone turned around and gave me a look. And I have no problem with the Chinese, but this one guy just kept giving me dirty looks as soon as I boarded the train. I'm like "What the you staring at? This bank is closed...lol"

I think everybody that can speak another language kinda does that at times...I gotta admit, my mum and I do it sometimes but it's never horrid to anyone.

The weird thing is...every time we go to a china town together, we end up speaking Thai to each other. We don't really any other time (even though both my parents are Thai, we speak English at home) but as soon as we're surrounded by other Asians...it's like an automatic switch or something.

Aw c'mon Perth isnt that bad... its just an over sized country town ;) At least we are easily excited by things since nothing really exciting really happens here.

My mums partner is Austrian, he doesnt have an accent but speaks german with his sons (we attempted to learn german once to eavesdrop but we didnt get very far). They say that they 'think' in german but speak aussie. Its funny when you catch them off guard in an argument they forget how to speak and it ends up as germlish.

Yeah I live in the sticks now. But at least that google earth thing cant spy on me so well over the paddocks :p
Im really not that far away, just at the end of Tonkin. At least Im not in Albany anymore!

Same with the Italians, and there is so many different dialects , in our family we have 3, not sure what the specific dialects are, but they keep switching and it confuses the heck out of me. We just stick with English at home, obviously the main reason is my brother and I don't speak Italian. Although I am tempted to go learn it because our Nanna is a gossip and she only gossip's in Italian and everytime we go see her, my mum wants to pull her out! Last time she went, Nanna raised the walking stick at her! LOL. And I have no clue what she said to get mum so .."grrr grr" like .lol

Now do I post this in the Aussie thread where it will be appreciated? Or the Scottish thread because that's where it took place? ;)

I saw Adam Hills again last night, for the second time in Glasgow...why is it that I had to travel so far just to see a good Australian comedian? lol

He's still re-using a lot of his old stuff, but there was some new bits about commentating on the paralympics for Australia...but it was still all funny as hell though. I was the lone Aussie in the crowd!

Bah, yeah I'm not a big fan of summer, I will list a few things I don't like about summer:

Flies
Sunburn
Shaving my legs every day
The smell of sweat
School holidays
Wanting to drink the first beer of the day at 12noon
Drinking 3 beers during the day sitting in the sun and then wanting to sleep
Everything smells worse (garbage, dog poo, people)
Cooking a decent meal is a hideous thought.
Trying to get exercise is a nightmare because it's to hot
If you leave your washing in the washing machine for over an hour it smells bad
People constantly asking you to go to the beach
Going to the beach
Getting half naked in front of strangers
Bush fires
Droughts
Having to queue longer to get anything/where because of school holidays
And hayfever, I've been stuck in bed for 2 days now cause I'm to snotty and teary to leave the house!

Oh there's more, I know there is, but I can't think right now!

Oh there's more, I know there is, but I can't think right now!

I think a few of your reasons are due soley due to the kids on holidays :p We all know that they attract the flies, smell and make trouble. ;)

I like summer but not the really hot bits. I love this time of year (Spring) the most for the weather. Its perfect for riding and lovely at night to sit outside. The flies are starting to be annoying around the horses but we have our cool little flynets and tons of Rid. The snakes are what worry me the most. But I havent seen any in a couple of weeks. We have had two tigers on this property and two dugites at RDA already and they wernt little. I know its just a matter of time before I find one near my shed. I have the beer fridge and freezer on the verandah with all my horse gear. I know one will be hiding there sooner or later!

I love the beach but I prefer it in Albany, no one is ever around and you dont have to struggle to get parking. Its so much nicer and easier at the less popluar beaches as long as you can live without the sexy lifeguards. Gettin burnt sucks but Im used to the whole suncrem routine. I usually wear it in winter too anyway.

I saw my first bushfire for the season yesterday but the fireys had it under control quick smart so it was only little. We had a few bad ones last year so hopefully it wont be so bad this year. There were a few too close for comfort last time, we had the emergency plan all ready as the place got covered in ash.

Having beer at midday then wanting to sleep seems like a plus in my book LOL plus who said a Barbie wasnt a decent meal ;) :D

Haha when I tell people I dont like summer and that I do like winter they look at me like Im off my trolly. The only thing I like about summer is that it makes it better to go out at night, Its good going down to the pubs near the beach at night. But yer the insects, holy crap I hate freaking flies the way you know when they land on you they are either pooping or spewing apparently, and cockies, freaking hell, especially those big flying ones EEEPPPP!. Every thing does smell worse, especially when you are in the city thats the worst getting into a lift with a bunch of stinky sweaty dudes in business suits is no fun at all.

In January I think I'm going to escape Perth at some point and go down south, maybe Margaret River.
Snakes don't freak me out so much, I think spiders are way way worse. Absolutely hate them! I have the hugest fear of getting bitten by a red back!
Haha, and I'm definitely going to blame everything this summer on school holidays!

Hello there, my fellow hell dimension dwellers! :)

I thought I might mention this for those of you who have the sci fi channel on foxtel and dont know about this yet. I keep seeing the end of this ad for something called the Joss House that is coming next month but I only ever get the end of it and was totaly lost so I looked it up, turns out its all Buffy, Angel and Firefly episodes that are going to be running every sunday from November 30. I watch buffy on there in the mornings and that but Ive never seen firefly so Im pretty happy about that bit. Just thought you guys might wanna know, perhaps we will get lucky and there will be some kind of interviews or something as a bonus, they ran an interview from season 3 that I had never seen before the other day and am dying to see again as I didnt catch the whole thing. :)
