Oh man that blows! I watch 20 to 1 religiously, (despite it's crapness) but I didn't watch it last night cause I was at my parents watching football.

I agree, number 1 spot definitely should have gone to Giles and I.

GO THE DOCKERS!! Lol I know they are a bit sad but I have been a member since they started. Acutally I dont think Im a member this year, too little funds :( but it doesnt matter I shall cheer infront of the tv and watch them lose instead. We are FINALLY getting some winterish type weather, its not poured down yet but its threatening.

My Dad and his wife went to Summer Bay when we were in Sydney, I didnt get to go cos I got out of their as soon as I could :p But dad was stoked cos on the Summer Bay diner set it has the head lifegaurd as "A.Stewart" which is his name! Hehe he got a photo of it purely because his name was on it :p Been a long while since he was a lifeguard tho, I think the last time was when we were still in nippers!

Has anyone here read the 'Tommorrow when the war began' series? I looooooovved it in highschool and have just started readin it again. I have to find the last book somewhere tho cos I only have the first 5. Might take me a while to get thru them anyway so I spose there is no rush to find it. Actually Im sure my little sis has it and since she is gallivanting around europe now I can go raid her bookshelf (sw)

Aleris
05-20-2009, 03:44 AM
I have that serie minus the last book too!
Best series I read as a kid. But I hated how it ended.

Just thought I'd let you guys know - if you've got foxtel - Dollhouse is going to start airing on the 9th of June!

I've been too lazy to download them - so I'll be putting that on series link to record :D

OccaQuokka

I just finished The Other Side of Dawn the other day. I never liked the ending either but its kinda hard for it to have ended any other way :p Give me a new appreciation for the kiwis tho haha. I havent read the other 3 that he wrote, the Ellie Chronicles or something like that, I cant remember. Might try and find them some day.

No foxtel for me but Im guna buy the DVDs anyway. Foxtel gets all the good stuff!

I miss home, I miss home, I miss home!

I miss sitting in sushi train and getting yelled at by the guys that make it...I miss the beach on a warm day...I miss random ball games in the park followed by a PROPER barbeque (not one that comes from a tiny foil thing!).....I miss juking out to cover bands at the pub....I miss summers of blistering heat! I miss driving (Oh GOD, do I miss driving!)...I miss Twisties and Minties and Fantales and Lift......

2 and a bit months to go....yay!!!

Hahaha Bunnies - I even came out of lurking momentarily to beat you to it ;P

Aussie - those other series were related? I never read them as is evidence by the fact I was unaware they even existed lol

OccaQuokka
05-20-2009, 07:54 AM
Yeah they're related. I did end up going to buy 'The Other Side of Dawn' and since it was the latest release of it, it also had the promo page type thing in the back for 'The Ellie Chronicles'. Its 3 books (While I live, Incurable and Circle of Flight) set after the war but fighting has flared up or the war has started up again so she is back in combat mode. Thats about all I know about it haha.

I hope any QLD members didnt get too much damage from the flooding. Kass did it reach your parents place?

We had a bit of a wild storm here this morning, not much damage thankfully but Im not sure if it is over yet or not. Its just kinda calmed down and given the water on the ground a bit of a chance to soak in :p

My parents' place is fine. All my dad says is that they've had so much rain that they haven't been biking for a couple of days (my parents are on some random health kick or something...gonna love facing them when I get home...UK blubber everywhere.....ugh!), but other than that they're pleased with the rain.

Like Aussie said, its definately being shown on foxtel, i am pretty sure the channel is FOX 8.

I have also heard that channel 10 (free tv) owns the rights to it and could possibly show it as well.

It looks pretty good to me lol, I don't think I'll be going next year though.

Powderfinger.

^^Really? Hmmm, there are just no bands that really stand out to me, just ones that I'm like "Oh yer I'd take a look at them" when usually there is at least one act that I'm pretty excited about. The line up seems to get worse and worse every year, imo. And it sucks that they keep jacking up the price. I remember my first BDO back in 2003 when I was 15, it was $93 to go and the line up was Foo Fighters, Queen's of the Stone Age, The Living End, PJ Harvey, Jane's Addiction, etc. I didn't have to move from the mainstage all day, lol.

As for the acts, I haven't seen any of them live :(, but you are right in saying that none of the bands really stand out, except perhaps Muse. And there is no way I'm forking out that much anyway haha, except maybe that JPJ tour, but i think I've missed out on that.

Both, but mainly the dvd release, could have ordered it from the UK but have been holding out, might pick it up when I go home in Jan...

ILLYRIAN
11-08-2009, 04:21 AM
Do not order it from the UK without checking what regions the DVD is rated for. Also check by e-mail that the company can sell overseas as several cannot legally do so.

British DVD's are rated for region 2 viewing only.
Mind you there are a few web-sites for unlocking your DVD players viewing codes.

As for when it'll get released on the tv, I've given up waiting. I will buy the DVD. As the audience size in Australia and NZ is so small, we get DVD's long before the USA.

CSWEET
11-08-2009, 05:30 AM
I'm from the UK so have a PS3 region 2 aswell as a region 4 dvd player. I order things and get my folks to forward it, the pound is weak against the dollar so works out cheaper on certain things. I think you are right about there not being enough interest but they are showing BTVS which is a blessing...

I heard a classic on the TV last night. Tony Abbot, the idiotic leader of the liberals said that, "Kevin Rudd not getting a result at Copenhagen was seriously bad for him."

That has to be the dumbest comment of the decade.
In case he didn't realise it, not getting a result at Copenhagen is seriously bad for the enviroment of the world.

NZ politics. Interesting. Although I have no idea of whom you're speaking. Not old enough to vote yet, I don't give much attention to politics. Only around election time when the parties are at each others' throats and it becomes kinda entertaining.

Did anyone watch the Chaser's Yes We Canberra? They made the election fun.

And hooray for us Down Under people! Aussies and Kiwis ftw! I went to NZ about 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

The Chasers are classic.
I liked how they described every single candidate as being f-ed.

Though Double Take's faux Gillard spoofing Dolly Parton and fake Rudd doing "The Fear" came real close.

Rain, and plenty of it!

All quiet on the Aus front?

You thought we had it bad? They have 3 states under water. QLD, NSW, VIC.

Any Tassies about here?

You have a new Premier.

Giddings honoured to be next Tas premier (http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/01/23/3119261.htm)

Ms Giddings says it will be an honour to become Tasmania's first female Premier.
The Prime Minister has congratulated Lara Giddings on her likely rise to become Tasmanian premier, after outgoing Premier David Bartlett announced he was standing down to spend more time with his family.

In a statement, Julia Gillard says Ms Giddings is an active cabinet minister and well placed to take on the role.

Ms Gillard has also thanked Mr Bartlett for his service to the State, and congratulated him on his achievements in education and with the National Broadband Network.

Mr Bartlett has endorsed Deputy Premier Lara Giddings to replace him and expects the Labor Party to elect her as leader tomorrow.

He says Ms Giddings has the credentials to face the state's economic challenges and to lead the power-sharing Labor-Green Government.

"She has extraordinary communication skills, much better than mine, and she has skills that I think are required for the coming 18 and 24 months," he said.

Ms Giddings says it will be an honour to become Tasmania's first female Premier.

She says she would welcome the challenge and Bryan Green has agreed to stand for Deputy Premier.

It will be the second time Ms Giddings has made political history. She was youngest woman ever elected into an Australian parliament when she was elected to Tasmania's House of Assembly as a member for Lyons in 1996.

After losing the 1998 election, Ms Giddings was returned to Parliament in 2002 in the Franklin electorate on Hobart's eastern shore.

She has held a variety of portfolios including her current roles of Deputy Premier, Treasurer, Attorney General and Minister for Justice and Arts.

Greens leader Nick McKim has thanked the outgoing Premier for his hard work to establish Tasmania's historic power-sharing government, formed after last year's hung election.

Mr McKim says he is confident this can continue with Ms Giddings as Premier.

He says if Ms Giddings is elected by the Parliamentary Labor Party, she will have won the position on merit, but it will be great to see a woman in the top job.

But Opposition Leader Will Hodgman says David Bartlett has failed to provide Tasmanians with a stable government, and he does not expect Ms Giddings to do any better.

Mr Hodgman says he respects Mr Bartlett's reasons for stepping down, but says Tasmanians deserve more from their premier.

"We were promised stability, we were promised that by both Nick McKim and David Bartlett after last year's election and they said that they would govern in the best interest of Tasmanians well they've failed on every front, they've failed to deliver," he said.

"Lara Giddings has been part of that and as of tomorrow she'll apparently be Tasmania's next premier."
