**AN: Ok this is my first ever Buffy fan-fic I usually just write Roswell so I’m apologising in advanced if it’s not that good. I just through this together so don’t blame me if it really stinks I’m not really one for checking I just write it as it flows sorry... Well here goes!!!**
Her head leaned against the cool window pane, her eyes still stinging, as she looked out over the dead country side, the sun baked sand that seems to stretch for miles around, far from home she felt so lost in the vast wilderness that passed so rapidly by her window. She could feel every rock under the bus and every rev of the tired old engine, she knew the bus wouldn’t make it very long out here in the wilderness but she knew that before she set foot on it, but as long as she got as far away from her old life it was just fine with her.
It had been three hours since she was in Sunnydale; it all seemed so far way now, her friends her family, her job, her old life. She had made up her mind that she was going to make a new start, and her old life was as dead to her now as her cold dead heart. 'A brand new start' she kept telling herself, a chance at a real life...just pick up where she left off, no more fighting, no more vampires...just life.
The vibration of the window began to make her forehead a little numb so she sat back and leaned against the head rest, her hand softly resting on her bag, she felt so ashamed when she had gone home after... after that to get it she had crawled in to her window and quickly packed it and out again just as she heard her mother soft patter of her fuzzy slippers climb the stairs and make their way to her room. Something inside her knew that she was making too much noise and it begged to be found but her guilt and shame couldn’t stand to see the look on her mother's face, not again, not like the night before, she was her mother and she knew that she loved her but the look of shear disappointment as she found out about her calling pained Buffy more than anyone could know, her darkest secret about her life was now her mothers greatest failure, her little girl was a murderer, and had been since she was 16 years old she never wanted her mother to find out she never wanted to see that look. But that's not her home any more that’s not her mother anymore. It was a strange place that she had never seen and a strange woman she had never met!
“But mom! I wanna go potty!” a little boy in front of her shouted
“I told you to go when we were at the station, there is no place to go here unless you want to go in the desert!” his mother said with a worried look on his face
“Yeah and there are wolves out there that will bite you” his brother teased!
Buffy smiled on as they interrupted her train of thought. They seemed so close so loving, something she thought she would never feel ever again. She looked again to the window and watched the sun as it danced upon the horizon, its golden orange flames rippling across the harden road, she could feel its vibrant heat pour down on her face, she closed her eyes briefly savouring the peace, breathing in deep breaths unheeding of the smell of stale air and the broken toilet in the back, it was freedom she was savouring, freedom and peace, something she hadn’t in a long time.
When she opened her eyes again she looked out over the wasteland feeling once again the sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach, and breathed a heavy sigh causing the glass to steam up under her breath. She suddenly felt a presence near her next to her and a hand came up behind her softly stroking her delicate golden hair, so softly that if she want so sensitive to her surrounding she would never have felt the fingers tips caress her velvet soft locks, she looked up with a look of anger on her face as she was ready to tell the whatever weirdo to leave her alone. But when her eyes met with the warm brown eyes that looked so lovingly upon her, her features softened instantly.
There he was, his hand stretched out to her and his loving eyes seeing only her, and all else faded from her mind. She lunged for him, grabbing his waist and she clung on for dear life he sat there a looking a little taken back by her sudden movement but as softly as before he touched her back and her hair giving her some promising strokes.
“You’re here!” she whispered as the tears began to fall leaving burning red stains down her already flushed cheeks, she nestled her head into his stomach wanting to get as close as possible to him her arms closing tightly around him.
“I’m always here for you” his voice echoed thought her like bells though a cold night air, his voice was so crisp and clear, as if there was no engine or people around her to interfere. He trailed his hand over her back so softly it made her skin tingle through ever inch of her body. His finger glided effortlessly to her raw cheeks as he lifted her chin to face him “what’s with all the tears I’m here now.” he cooed “no need to cry I’ll take care of you.” he brought his head down and kissed her forehead.
His lips felt so soft to her, as they had done before, he looked perfect to her, the sunlight glistening thought his dark hair each strand enhanced and looked more vibrant than ever, she could feel his thumb glide across her cheeks once more this time wiping away her salty tears that cascaded down her delectate features. He looked away from her out onto the open road
“Where are we planning on going?” he asked so care free as if asking what time it was.
“L.A.” she whispered as she looked up into his eyes.
“Why?”
“I have to...” reassuring herself she sat up and with her back leaned into his chest, looking to the window, smiling as his arms fell around her waist, while his hands played with her fingers slowly interlinking his and hers together as they watched the sun slowly set outside their window.
“Why do you have to?” he asked with no emotion attached to his voice.
“I... I... I can’t go back there”
“Why not?”
“Not after what I did?”
“And what did you do?” his arms pulled her closer to his body, she could feel every movement he made, and she honestly thought she felt his heart beat.
“What I did... What I did to you!”
“What you did to me?” still his voice sounded so detected from the conversation as if he was thinking of something else.
“Yes... I cant go back not after that!” she wondered why he was asking so many questions, her voice seemed troubled but he carried on.
“What did you do to me?”
“Don’t make me say it!” she implored.
“What ever it was it couldn’t have been that bad! I’m here aren’t I?”
“Are you?” her voice more stressed.
“What did you do?” he repeated
“I... I... I killed you!” she shot up from his embrace turning to him. She finally admitted it, she had said it, there was no turning back, she had killed him. By plunging that sword into him she had killed her love, her own heart, she had killed him.
“Oh Angel, I’m so sorry can you ever forgive me?” she beseeched as the tears began to fall again.
“Kill me? What do you mean?” he looked down at her child like eyes and smiled with his most innocent of smiles. His hands played with the strands of hair that fell down her shoulders “How can you have killed me I’m right here!” he looked at her and pulled her towards him, her cheeks resting on his broad chest and he slowly rocked her in his arms. “I told you Buffy, there are no need for tears I’m here for you now”
They lay there for what seemed like forever his embrace warming her more that she realised she needed.
“Why do you want to leave?”
“What? Because, I have to!” she looked up
“Why?”
“Because I kil...”
“Enough of that” he interrupted “why do you feel you need to leave your life wasn’t it good for you?”
“No...Its not… Not that”
“Then what?” he looked down to her eyes seeing the green flexes gaze upon his face.
“I couldn’t, I just couldn’t!”
“Couldn’t what?” he asked patiently and softly.
“I don’t know... I just couldn’t I couldn’t face them!”
“Don’t you think that they might be ok with whatever you feel so shamed about?” she smiled down at her. “I mean I love, you and I know they love you too!”
“How can anyone love me... I’m a monster... I killed the person I love the most” she sat up and looked up into his eyes
“I told you I’m ok you don’t need to think like that!”
“But you don’t understand, when you looked into my eyes, you were so trusting so real so innocent and I...”
“I trust you Buffy, I need to, you are what makes my heart beat so passionately you shouldn’t feel ashamed you gave me more than I could ever dream, you should hold your head up high and Know that you gave me love I was never suppose to have” he pulled her down again and kissed her lips, felling his lips caress her’s she couldn’t think of anything else she had ever wanted more, she collapsed into his arms repeating over in her head “I love you, I love you so much” and in the distance of her mind she heard a reply “I love you too”.
He broke the connection softly stroking her arm and looked into her eyes lovingly
“I have to go now”
“What no, you can’t you can’t leave me!” she grabbed his shoulder holding the cloth of his shirt tight between her fingers.
“Buffy I have to, I have no choice”
“Stay with me, please just stay” she could feel her eyes filling to the brim again.
“Don’t cry, I wont be far I promise, just don’t cry”
“Stay with me, please” he lifted her off his lap moving her effortlessly onto her seat, bending down kissing her forehead and made his way to the ally down the middle of the bus.
“Angel no, please don’t go” she shouted as she took his arm which seemed to slide through her grasp, no matter how hard she tried to hold on. She looked up at him, desperately trying to hold on, but he carried on with out turning back down to the front of the bus “Stay with me!” she shouted as the tears fell down her cheeks.....
.....“Excuse me miss...”
“Stay with me!” she shouted as she jolted awake.
“Um, miss, it time to get off the bus we are in L.A.” a young looking bus driver said with a very nervous look on his face as he pulled his hand way from the shoulder he was tapping.
“What... where...oh” she whispered as she swallowed the lump in her throat. She looked out of the window, it was very dark out, almost midnight she reckoned, the bus had been completely emptied, she was all alone again. “Ok, I’m sorry” she whispered as the driver started to walk down to the front of the bus. She grabbed her bag and continued after him into the city, to start her new life, her life alone.
The End....
