That one was getting mighty long and I didn't want it to disappear from the board...here was the last post - please continue :D

Pezz, very interesting theories, and it sort of intertwines with much of what I was thinking, however I believe the First Evil is still alive. I can't imagine a evil entity like the First(it really needs a better name) dying. Does it matter which way the balance in the scales tips as long as it tips?? If so, the First Evil might of won either way, and got it's wish of being corporeal, or touchable. A whole town filled with evils, Turok Hans, and the hellmouth itself was destroyed, which is all negative energy, while more positive energy was created at the same time, gaining new potentials around the world. I know the main emphasis of the season was "Self-Knowledge" though. Everyone did learn something valuable about themselves in the end, and it seemed like everyone was at peace again, something we haven't seen in ages on Buffy. This season is either really deep and complicated, or poorly done. Hard to tell.....
Hee, first one on part two!
In response to GrimsWatcher, I think it was a slight combination of the two.
If they don't say anything about what happened to The First on Angel, I'll be mad. I want to know if it was truly destroyed or if it was just defeated as you said.
However, The First specifically said to Buffy that once her armies overrun the Earth, she will become corporeal so I don't think she became corporeal by all the Slayers being awakened, although it could be.
However, the script specifically says "The First is nowhere in sight." which I think means something. I mean, wouldn't The First want to continue to taunt Buffy? I mean, Spike hadn't done the glowy thing yet so I don't see why she would disapear just because Buffy told her too, but I digress. It's all really weird, and I want an answer! However, I do like coming up with all these theories and speculating also! :D

Bejoxa's Eye did say that The First Evil has always been and will always be. If anything, I think the First Evil lost it's opportunity and now can't step in so heavily and accomplish it's goal. And I agree, I want The First Evil, or at least some of the loose ends tied up on Angel eventually. I don't feel I have closure.

maybe the First is just taking a nap! :)
Waiting to strike again.
okay i read that "alternate script" (here: http://www.buffy.nu/article.php3?id_article=731 ) or whatever .. and i feel it wasn't real.. like how someone said that it's just an edited chosen tran/script. i mean, there was one part that had Xander "welling up" about his own death. (i guess the person forgot to change the name to Anya..) haha

I don't now if anyone has mentioned this (or if I already did at some point), but I really liked the way Caleb died. First Buffy slashed from left to right on his chest, then she went vertical on him and sliced him top to bottom. It was the shape of a cross......

Sorry for the lateness of the post! I know the finale aired a while ago, but I've been gone from the boards for a while. Sorry!
Anyways: I loved the episode, especially that Joss incorporated alot of his classic Buffy-humor in the episode. So many tiny hidden funnies like the first few seasons of Buffy. I don't think I could've standed the episode if it had gone out on a very sad note. Well, not that it wasn't sad, because you know, last eppy of Buffy and all that, plus Anya and Spike dying, WAH! I went through an entire box of kleenex on that episode. Here's a bunch of my noteworthies:
The entire first part with Angel. Especially the scene with Caleb rising:
ANGEL
It's the First, right? The First evil. The power that tried to convince me to kill myself.
BUFFY
Yeah. It's gotten a little more ambitious since then. It's raising an army.
ANGEL
Yeah, well, it failed once, and I'm here to tell you—
*Caleb stands up behind Angel and knocks Angel down by hitting him with a cat statue, sending him across the floor. Caleb walks up to Buffy, black blood streaming from his eyes and nose.*
CALEB
Are you ready to finish this, bitch?!
*Caleb swings the cat statue at Buffy, but she blocks with the scythe and then falls to the ground. She swings at him with the scythe, but he blocks with the cat statue. Caleb knocks Buffy to the ground, then throws the cat statue at Buffy. Buffy stands, holding the scythe.*
BUFFY
(breathing hard) OK...how many times do I have to kill you? Ballpark figure.
CALEB
You understand nothing.
*Buffy swings at Caleb, but he grabs the scythe, holding it still, and punches Buffy in the face twice. He lifts Buffy in the air, pressing her back against the low ceiling. Buffy struggles, and Caleb finally lets her fall to the floor. He walks up to her slowly, then picks her up by her lapels.*
CALEB
(through gritted teeth) You think you have power over me?
*Buffy breaks free of his grip and kicks him, knocking him down to the floor. *
CALEB
Stupid girl. (stands) You'll never stop me. You don't have the ba—
*While Caleb gets to his feet, Buffy twirls the scythe and swings it up between his legs. Caleb's eyes go wide.*
BUFFY
Who does nowadays?
*Caleb looks down incredulously at the scythe lodged in his body between his legs. Buffy swiftly pushes the scythe up through his body.*
ANGEL
(lying on the floor, regains consciousness and stands, angrily) OK, now I'm pissed. Where is he?
BUFFY
(looks to her right, then to her left, then at Angel) He had to split. (giggles devilishly)
That was great!
And the entire cookie dough/Buffy cookie scene that was just all sorts of funny.
The part where Buffy told Angel that Spike had a soul and he was like "Thats great. Everyone's got a soul now." He sounded so put out that he wasn't the only ensouled vampire now. He looked so cute! LOL! And then he says "You know, I started it. The whole having a soul. Before it was all the cool new thing." And Buffy was all "Oh, my God. Are you 12?" Then Angel really tickled me when he says "I'm getting the brush off for Captain Peroxide. It doesn't necessarily bring out the champion in me."
That was when I nearly lost it. Then to top that Buffy says "You're not getting the brush off. Are you just gonna come here and go all Dawson on me every time I have a boyfriend?"
And Angel says "Aha! Boyfriend!" It was priceless! I've always loved how their arguments make very little sense sometimes, and that they are always funny. Well, almost always...(BTW, congrats to the people of Dawson's Creek you guys did great too.)
Then after a commercial break, we get back to Buffy at her house and when she walks in Dawn kicks her and says "Dumbass" That was awesome! I laughed so hard! And then to add to it Xander says "Don't look at me. This is a Summers' thing. It's all very violent." And Buffy goes "If you get killed, I'm telling."
Where did they get Party in Xander's eye socket from? That was just a wee bit gross as well as semi-funny.
BTW, great idea Buffy! Angel and Spike wrestling around with oil....hmmmmmm... Okay back on topic!
Besides, why was Spike dreaming about Footwear?
And go Willow! I loved it when she said "This goes beyond anything I've ever done. It's a total loss of control, and not in a nice, wholesome, my girlfriend has a pierced tongue kind of way." I spit my drink out! It was great!
Who else thought the Xander and Anya conversations were sweet? Like this one:
ANYA
(to Xander) Come on, let's go assemble the cannon fodder.
XANDER
That's not what we're calling them, sweetie. (walks out)
ANYA
(walks out) Not to their faces. What, am I insensitive?
(AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW! So cute!)
And I think that Principal Wood is good for Faith. I don't know about him being prettier than her though....*grin*
I'm not going to go in depth on the Willow/Kennedy relationship, 'cause I never really liked it anyways, and I think that maybe Kennedy is just a tad young for Willow....But anyways, for what it was it was kind of a sweet moment for them.
I think one of my two favorite parts would have to be though the time where they are playing the board game:
*Giles and Xander are looking intently at a map that's laid out on the table.*
GILES
I'm—I'm—I'm all turned around. You're here?
XANDER
By the pillar, yeah. I'm protecting this area.
GILES
That puts me over by the door. Demons around the perimeter— Right! I open the door.
*Pan over to show Andrew is also at the table, but he's wearing a red hooded cloak.*
ANDREW
(reading from a book) You go through the door and are confronted by Trogdor the Burninator.
GILES
Oh, bugger it. Fight. (rolls dice, sips wine)
ANDREW
Adios to 5 hit points. Trogdor has badly wounded you.
GILES
Well, wait a minute. What about my... (puts on glasses) bag of illusions?
ANDREW
(scoffs) Illusions against a Burninator? Silly, silly british man. (Giles sips his wine again)
AMANDA
I invoke a time flux on Trogdor.
ANDREW
(looks at Amanda) Step down, girlfriend, you can't just—
AMANDA
Ninth level sorcerer, and I carry the emerald chalice. Trogdor is frozen in time. Deal with it. (writes something down)
XANDER
Smackdown on Red Riding Hood. This could get ugly.
GILES
Could it possibly get uglier? I used to be a highly respected watcher, and now I'm a wounded dwarf with the mystical strength of a doily. I just wish I could sleep.
AMANDA
What kind of person could sleep on a night like this?
XANDER
(looks over at Anya, who's passed out on the table in the chair beside him) Only the crazy ones.(rubs Anya's hair as she snores)
That was classic! Trogdor...hahaha!
Xander was so cute when he told Anya to use Andrew as a human shield. There were so many cute little phrases used in the school that made me smile.
Then when its just the original 4 in the hallway, they have that scene that is very reminiscent of the one at the end of the first eppy The Harvest. Joss did really great to bring the show full course all the way back to the beginning with that. I give it 2 thumbs up, 'cause I only have 2.
Kudos Joss! Making all potentials Slayers! That was a stroke of genius! I liked how they showed it to! This could have potential in the future of Angel...
Woo-hoo! Brownie points for Willow for being a goddess! I always knew she had it in her! LOL! "That was nifty!" hehehe!
Bunnies! LOL! I loved how they brought that up even in the last episode! Brilliant!
I almost passed out when Buffy was stabbed! I was like "No, not again! She's already died 3 times..." LOL!
And Xander and Dawn killing the vamps with the skylight thing. Very ingenius. I loved the greenhouse effect comment.
I burst into tears when Anya was killed! I was shocked! She was the last peson I expected to die! I can't believe she's dead!
I was glad that Xander didn't see Anya's body. I don't think he could've left it there if he had, and he might've died with her.
I was shocked when Spike died but not as much as with Anya. But why 2 dying? Hopefully he'll be back on Angel though.
I liked the scene with Buffy running from the rooftops and then jumping on the bus. That was cool!
And then I started crying again when Xander and Andrew talked and Xander said "That's my girl. Always doing the stupid thing." When Andrew tells him that Anya died saving Andrew's life.
Then at the end! How could Joss just leave us hanging there after that funny conversation? Are they going to go to Cleveland? Where are they going to go? Because obviously they can't just stay outside the ruins of Sunnydale.
Allright, I'm tired of typing now. I guess thats all I have for now.
I loved the episode!

As great as the episode was, did you see how fast Wood drove out of Sunnydale?? It took him about 20 seconds. Not a chance. I think it should of been edited with Buffy getting to the roof before the bus left, because she couldn't of caught up to it that quickly. Is the school on the edge of town??

Might of been mentioned already, but did anyone notice Buffy used the Tuaric Blade to reopen the hellmouth. Andrew stabbed Jonathan with that blade, and when Buffy used Andrew's tears on the seal to shut it, the only thing that could reopen it was the Tuaric Blade. Most likely obvious, but I catch on slow!!!!

I loved "chosen" but Anya's death was the saddest thing I've ever seen. Not so much her dying as she's lived for a long time, but thinking of Xander's life without Anya! I mean, I know they were broken up, but they sooooo got back together in the last episode. After Xander said "party in my eye socket..." Anya was rubbing his hair very affectionately. Then there was the whole "come on, let's go and assemble the cannon fodder" "that's not what we're calling them, sweetie" thing. He called her sweetie, that's gotta mean something!!! And when she was sleeping during dungeons and dragons and Xander was rubbing her hair (once again) very affectionately!! not to mention the whole "that's my girl" scene. I think that, if she hadn't died, there would have been wedding bells in the air...
The rest of the episode was absolutely brilliant. I watched it with three of my friends, then we watched it again. By that time it was about one o'clock at night (they air it at about ten forty here in Australia) and we had school the next day. SO we got up early to watch it again!!! hheeeheheh we are quite obsessed. My favourite part would have to have been the scene with Xander, Willow, Giles and Buffy - the reference to the last scene in "the harvest". we had just watched "welcome to the hellmouth/the harvest" before "chosen" to get us in the spirit so that was especially good. Joss wrote the slanguage as only he can and there were twists and turns throughout.
Go Joss, seven years and he's still got the buffynes!!!!!
:: tu :: Well,I watched it again for the first time in months and just wallowed in the luxuriant brilliance of the whole episode!!It's just such a brillantly written thing,so much laughing to be had on further viewings,at the time I first watched it I was too choked up to laugh that much, but now..........My favourite parts are Spike's punchbag with the cutest drawing of Angel on the front...... :D Giles' rant at the board game "I used to be a respected watcher, now I'm a wounded dwarf with all the mystical ability of a doilly(n/v)....." and Faith and Wood's hilarious 'performance' about their 'performance'........So many laughs in such a short space of time,I was blown away by the change of moods as well,so well handled,a few plotholes for sure but such a brilliant attempt.......:D

Like DXY i just saw it again 2! I still don't think that it was the best end to the show, (I think there should have been 2hrs) but it was pretty good. It made us all laugh and cry, (sometimes at the same timelol) Loved Spike and the "Angel" punching bag lol and the best scene was at the end w/ Spike and Buffy "I love you" "No, You don't, but thx for saying it" I think that is my favorite part of like the whole show!lol
I've been reading over this thread, and no one has taken this into consideration. Remember Bring On The Night and ShowTime? ONE, let's count that again, ONE Turak-hon vampire kicked buffy's a$$. So, can someone explain to me how like 30 slayers were able to take on hundreds of vampires until Spike's necklace worked? I mean, the battle should have been over at the part...
Vi: "These guys are dust."
It also seemed that the Turak's changed every episode. I guess they kept getting new make up artists or something... Who knows... Also, Buffy jumped off the roof of the bus. Did anyone else notice that she left the scythe up there?
Later that day:
Buffy: "Has anyone scene the scythe?"
Earlier that day:
::As Principal Wood drives, the scythe falls off and some lazy street bum takes it.::
Also, Wood and Giles, Andrew and Anya, Dawn and Xander, taking on all those vampires at once? Wouldn't happen...

Hi! I'm new. I have been looking for a good Buffy board. This one was recommended by someone at the Charmed-Boards.
I just saw this ep!( thank you f/x.)
I have really been having a problem with the whole season. It just seemed like there was no happiness to find anywhere. Again, Buffy's friends were turning against her(always makes me mad when they do that). James Marsters was playing Spike brillantly, but still everyone just wanted to kill him off.(take that Giles, he saved the whole world.) In the beginning of the whole Spike/Buffy thing, I was kind of Yeech! but now...whoa baby bring it on. And it didn't seem like they were going to bring anything on.
But the interaction the last couple of eps with Buffy & Spike were the best things the whole season.(IMO) Still really not my favorite season, but I will most likely get the DVDs when they come out. Just to watch the tender Spike/Buffy love scenes. And of course to watch Angel act like a 12 year old.

Welcome!! Yes, this is a great board. There is always somebody to argue with! :)
I agree with all of your points.
The best parts of the season: the Spuffy scenes... especially Touched and to see Angel act like an immature, jealous boy.

The Spuffy scenes bored me to death and both Angel and Spike acted like immature jelous boys.

I haven't seen Chosen yet but it's finally showing over here next Monday so hopefully it's worth the wait.
The First Evil mocking Buffy,B/A kiss and Willow's change were the best....
I cried for fifteen minutes straight after this ep. Not happy grief release tears. terrible, terrible pain that has not healed over the months. I gotta face it.
I absolutley loved BTVS especially season 5, 6, and 7 right up to the last ep and never thought I would ever be writing these words. But I think there might be something cruel about Joss and his worldview.
What does the success of a whole season matter if you rip someone heart out on purpose and with a smile on your face? He admitted in an interview that he loved killin' folks.
(aka Lucy pulling the football from Charlie Brown) Those terrible 8 words Spike said--all love is different from each other. No one loves two people in the same way--but to dangle that hope and drop kick Spike once again--petty and...a lie, a metaphysical lie.
She doesn't have to love Spike in the same way as Angel--but it can still be reciprocated. There is no such thing as 'one true love.' Only willingness and the unwilling. If you doubt me--lets hook up again in ten years. You don't have to be ancient to have life experiance--to love and love again. This is lifes truth. And shame on BTVS after those wonderful years to bowing to simplistic fairy tale nonsense that helps no one understand life any better.
And, to have these warriors, these survivors stand at the edge of the crater that contained the dead bodies of thier friends and comrades and smile and make souless quips about missing stores was obsene.
I've spent months trying to let it go, trying to heal, I went on the internet for the first time ever to see what other people were feeling and found many, many who agree, there is not ONE person I know that enjoyed that ending.
So--i was letting it go, trying to give 'Angel' a chance to prove me wrong, and then a few weeks ago i was in New York and accidently found myself at the edge of 'the site' And this automatic viseral quaking of grief began somewhere deep indside me. Not in my mind, or heart even, but just because I am a human being, and to be human puts one in empathy with other humans. This is what it is.
You can not stand at the edge of a crater that contains the dust of fellows and smile and joke.
It. Could. Not. Happen.
How could Joss be ignorant of this?
I'm trying hard to forgive him, I really am--but what was he thinking?
It scares me that he could be so shallow.
And now my voice that use to sing his praises has bcome the disembler. I have to say these things--because someone should. It should be on record. I am really very supportive of my friends who try to create somehting in this world and my fellow writers--but misuse of power, using storytelling to hurt people is...in a catagory close to...well...evil.
I still hope that is was just a terrible ignornant miscalculation--but how can he live so far away from the heart to write that?
sorry for the downer vibe, but I really feel I had to say this.

It was really great. Loved the part where Faith showed sympathy for Buffy as she took the scythe into her own hands and fought with it...I knew that this is how this series is gonna end.
But thats it. No more Buffy. It's done. Sure, maybe they'll ressurect it in the future, but it wont be the same. No Sarah Michelle Gellar, no British in real life-All-American, Socal Spike. Its done forever. And I thought Season 5 was a bummer on the last show.
The thing that has given me the most annoyance of all, is seeing some of you people act like...OH CHOSEN WAS SUCH A BAD EPI TO END IT. How bout you write an ending...call up the cast, and make another EPI. You really cant do anything about it. It was a great way to end it...and if you look at it in a perspective that counters all negativity up in these boards, its gives us peace. We know Buffy lives...we know she'll be happy...and we can still watch Spike on Angel...haha.
Ooo!!! Question, will Buffy guest star on Angel everr?
Actually Tracker,
I agree. I believe absolutely in putting my money where my mouth is. If one rants one must provide a feast too.
Sometime in August I thought it was only fair to stop crying and tackle the problem myself--I wrote a fanfic. My first and it's gotten a very kind response, mostly from people hurting like me. It's been nominated aleady in two different Award thingys. I won't mention names--not here to self promote only to say I agree. Put up or shut up. I also submitted an Angel spec to a competion in LA--for the same reason.
If you're gonna criticise you gotta put your own heart on the line too.
I also have a play that's doing well so I understand how hard it is to be a storyteller and the blows you have to take sometimes from dissension--but even with all these healing modalities I've done and will do--this pain caused by that ep is still here. And I had to say something.
I really am sorry, but I slept so good last night having gotten that out and I really thank this forum for the opportunity to do it.

Either way, Buffy ended. Sure, we'll have times when we say...WHY? What can I say.
I just finished watching it for the second time last night, and it did me proud.
The final speech, the final fight it was all amazing. Joss really did end this show with a bang.
I think the best part was when she got stabbed and The First was taunting her, the slow mo stand up thing was nice and disabling 3 turok han's at once brilliant :)
Also the score for The Final Fight when Buffy is doing the slom mo stand up. You can also hear it on the dvd menus when choosing an episode.
Possibly (for me) the best Buffy episode next to The Gift.

The thing I don't get though, is that if Spike is a vampire and they went to the school during the daytime how did Spike get there. He can't go into the sunshine. Unless I missed something that he now can go in sun without him turning into dust. Or if it was something to do with the necklace? I just don't know. You?

If you rewatch the episode and focus on the group as they are walking in to the school you'll notice spike is covered up by a blankie.
I actually missed that bit on the first viewing and it wasn't till I watched Chosen again did I think 'hmmm how did he get in there?' and rewind it to see the blanket.

i just watched this ep... and it is soooooo good!!! i ahev seen it before, but after watching season 5 and talking about the gift as aposible good ending ep for the whole buffy series.. i had to re-wathe it!! ansd it's so good! i love the fighting scenes, and how they say good-bye to, for example when they are in the school to open the seal, and Buffy, Xander and willow stand in front of the stairs and talk to giles and giles talks to himself, and the very core of the scoobys walk off together like season1-3 :bounce: sigh :hihi: .
and there is more then one goose bump momento.

Amazing episode.
Wow. Joss sure knew how to end it.
I'm SUCH a nerd, because I really found this episode to be upsetting. Maybe because it was the whole, end of the show thing, but it had such good moments.
- Buffy and Angel: Woohoo! I was sooo happy they gave us B/A in the finale episode! It was exciting -- endearing, and I loved how they made a promise for a B/A future. It was just. . . perfect to me.
- Slayers all over the world: It was a great idea. I loved it, and it really got you wondering what the different types'd be like. If there were "Mini Buffy's" out there, or people struggling with power like Faith, purely perfect.
- Faith/Robin: It was great. I was really happy she was able to find someone that could have something with her, when she really was such an unattainable character.
- Dawn: She was so cute, not letting Buffy say goodbye to her.
- Andrew: Ha, totally funny. As always. His brother Tucker. Cracked me right up.
- Anya: MAN! I was SO mad she died. However, I loved how they brought up the bunny thing. An Anya classic.
- Spuffy: I'm a HUGE Bangel fan, and yet "Touched"/"End of Days"/"Chosen" turned me Spuffy for a while. I loved the end of Spike/Buffy they closed the relationship so amazingly, and I truely believed she loved him. Esspecially since Joss wrote somewhere that she did, LOL.
- Giles/Buffy/Willow/Xander: I don't know about you guys, but them talking about going to the mall and doing "the world is doomed" thing was so peachy to me.
- "What should we do now?": I loved how she smiles. To me, that was the best part of the episode. To see how happy she is. How she was finally able to be happy.

Without that scene I think I would be really depressed about the last episode, but that is a great scene, with the four of them.. (Sort of makes up a little bit for what the whole 7th season has done to those four characters.)
I live that Angel shows up in the last episode, gets to say good-bye to the show, but does not get to be in the final battle.. Because it shouldn't end with him, he has his own show and just like Angel shouldn't end with Buffy, Buffy shouldn't end with him.

I know that this isn't really on topic, but almost. And if you've already talked about it please ignore this post.
My sister said something real smart about Spikes last line that I had been to dumb to see. It goes something like ...school's out for bloody summer and I always think about the song, but my sister saw the wordgame I had missed. I mean how stupid of me; Miss Summers took out the school. The school/Hellmouth had to bow down to Summer(s). I thought that was kind of funny.

The last episode I watched of the 7th season was "Chosen." It was so cool. It had great special effects and action. I just love the episode. Everytime I watch Buffy "Chosen" is going to be one of the episodes that I watch.
It is one of my favorite episodes!

Wow are you all serious? I had HIGH expectations for this
It's among my worst episodes ever
the only good portion of this episode was the goodbye scene, an appearence from angel but otherwise I want more of a finale
To me Gift was more of a fitting series finale
I wish they took the time to talk about everything in the series, their missed and cherished memories
I felt that it was rushed, and if it was any old episode I would've loved it, but it's the damn series finale, and it wasn't good IMO

I loved this episode as well - but keeping with the Theme of the First being killed, i have a question. What about the Senior Partners?
Weren't they like a combo of the first? I mean Angel was taken for a trip to the Senior Partners and basically it was earth right - and if all the evil on earth is controlled by The First, then isn't there a little inconsistency here?

The First was not killed. It could never be killed...it's not corporeal or living. It's really more of a concept... you know, evil.
It was just scrunched... stopped for the time being.

I love ''Chosen''. There were so many moments that made my eyes watery, but in a good way, like when the original gang stands in the hallway and discuss what will they do tomorrow... :sigh: And Spuffy, always Spuffy.

Exactly. All Buffy did in Chosen was to prevent the First from taking on a corporeal form and enter our reality properly, forcing it to remain as it always had been. It can't be killed as long as evil exists in whatever form.

Maybe, but as I saw it, Buffy's battle was against the First and the forces of the First. Buffy led the battle against the forces of the First, and won. The thing is, what did the amulet actually do ?. Who was the original keeper of the amulet ?.
Has the evil gone and now there is 'really naughty thingies' ?. Does that mean there'd have to be another series where the main protagonist would be
'really naughty thingies' ?.

I'm mad at Joss for ending this amazing season finale like this. So many plot holes!
irst off, I hate Buffy jumping from man to man. One act, she kisses Angel. The next, she sleeps with Spike. Angel is very, very out of character and him coming over at this time makes no sense at all. I also hate whiny Spike
The First is not a threat, imo. It cannot touch, just taunt. And man, all it does is taunt in that basement scene. I realized that The First is such a sucky villain. The First's plans were never explained and The First can't die, so how is destroying Sunnydale gonna help? It's still there, ready to strike.
Next plot hole: Ubervamps. I cannot get passed it. She almost DIES fighting one, but now she's slicing them up, ten at a time. And not only Buffy, but the Potentials. I understand that they become slayers, but newly born slayers. Meaning Buffy pre-Season 1 killing a bunch of Ubervamps. What?! No, way wrong.
Next plot hole: The hellmouth. Shown in previous episodes, Ubervamps are not the only thing in the hellmouth. In Prophecy Girl, you see the worm thing. In The Zeppo, no Ubervamp is shown. There is more than just Ubervamps. Way more.
Next plot hole: Buffy gets stabbed. She falls down. One minute later, she's jumping off a building and landing on a bus. After she gets up in The First's non-existent face, she shows no sign of ever being stabbed. And, if I remember correctly, the wound is all gone.
More plot holes. Too many to mention.
Anya's death is not mentioned, only for 15 seconds when Andrew tells Xander. While it is a nice moment, that good and important of a character deserved a much better send off.
There's more, but I won't mention it now. I was really disappointed, and I'm disappointed by the Heroes finale right now, so I thought I'd post a depressing review :lmao:

Yes, Andrew didn't get killed by the UberVamps or Bringers. How? He sat in a corner while Anya fought god knows how many? Did no one seriously see him?

Just re-watched it. It definitely has it's problems - but Chosen is such an improvement on the majority of the season. Plenty of little moments to love - Spike's picture of Angel, Andrew telling Xander about Anya, and that great scene between the Core Four in the corridor. Naturally, I don't enjoy the deaths of Anya or Amanda (the sole Potential I got hugely fond of on this re-watch), but isn't it really just a given by now Whedon kills off likeable characters?
Maybe not the best end we could have got, but I still consider it a great one nonetheless. :)

You don't. When she jumps down from the bus, the blood on her clothes is still clearly visible.

The stab wound was one of the problems that bugged me. I had a few nitpicks about the finale as well. But for now, I'll stick with the stab. With a stomach wound like that, especially having been, not only stabbed, but run through, Buffy would not have survived. I know Slayers have a certain "healing ability" and tougher bodies, but it makes no logical sense that she is in so much pain and then struggles to her feet to fight like no other. I was expecting her to collapse after the UberVamps were being defeated and that someone might have carried her out (even wondering during the episode if she would die at the end!) but certainly not expecting her to seem like she made a full recovery. Same with Faith. She was literally overrun with UberVamps and I was expecting her to meet her death (which honestly would have been sad!!) but she pops up like Buffy.
So after saying that...I might as well post what I wrote to a friend who I met through Buffy. *WARNING* Spoilers ahead!!
First of all...too rushed.
Second of all...too incomplete.
Third of all...only Anya died? No mean to be disrespectful to her memory...but seriously...I thought so many more died!
I thought this would be the death toll before I watched:
Buffy
Giles
Anya
Spike
Willow
Faith
A few of the Potentials
Then during the finale who I thought would die:
Buffy
Faith
Robin Wood
Kennedy
Anya
What we lost:
Anya
Spike
Like 2 Potentials
Best part: Buffy saying goodbye to Spike (*sniff* That part kinda got to me. "I love you." "No you don't. But thanks for saying it.")
Funniest part: Willow collapsing to the floor after making everyone Slayers, chuckles then says, "That was nifty."
Funniest part II: When Buffy walked in the door and Dawn was standing there after Xander tried to follow Buffy's order of taking her to safety. Dawn kicks Buffy lightly in the shin.
Buffy: "Ow!"
Dawn: "Dumb-ass!"
Buffy: "If you get killed, I'm telling!"
Funniest part III: "So, what do you guys want to do tomorrow??" pre-apocolypse talk!
Dumbest part: Making everyone or every girl Slayer...WTF. I mean, more power to women...but everyone? Kinda defeats the purpose of Buffy! I don't know. I didn't really like that idea. Looking back now it was a good plot story, but not my cup of tea.
Oddest part: Buffy being run through and still getting up like it was nothing, same with Robin...Faith being run under by all those UberVamps and again, fighting her way out (though she's badass I have to say!)
Favorite character of the finale: Toss-up: Faith and Willow. Never thought I'd EVER like Faith. But she won me over when she came back. What can I say? Fickle! :) I think the reason was that she fought by Buffy's side and actually showed compassion and even love for Buffy during the battle and after. And Willow...you can't beat the humor there or the fantastic acting of Alyson Hannigan.
Least favorite: Anya and Andrew. Anya really bugged me once she was left at the altar. Just didn't develop well after that. Andrew REALLY bugged me until he was asking Xandar, "Why didn't I die?" And then realized that Anya had died saving him. GOD he bugged me. But that ending bit was good characterization.
Wish I could have seen more of: Dawn and Willow. Dawn was so huge in the 5th season then kinda dropped off. Sad. Potential future Watcher, though which really is cool. She found her nitch in that aspect.
What I wish could have happened: A Buffy/Dawn goodbye, at LEAST a hug somewhere in that episode. We didn't get ANYTHING. That sucks because after the episode "Forever" in season 5 (the episode following Joyce's death) it is made very clear how much those sisters need and love each other. We didn't see that in the entire 7th season. Even though Dawn said, "Everything you might say will be a goodbye", I think Buffy really should have hugged her or said "I love you" or something instead of just letting her walk away cause that really is what Buffy would do...defy her sister's request just to "bug her". You know, typical sister stuff!!
Disappointed with: ANGEL!!! NO screentime. I am a Buffy/Angel fan, so excuse my bias here! And here I was under the impression that he'd have a lot of screentime!! Thank goodness for three things: (1) the Angel/Buffy kiss (2) Angel saving Buffy's life (3) Angel saying he "ain't getting any older"...(IMO) pretty much telling Buffy he'd wait for her. Thank GOD. But bad screentime, bad writing on that part
Impressed with: Kennedy, Faith. I know some don't like Kennedy, but she did impress me with her confidence in The Last Batte. As I said before, Faith came through for me and that REALLY made me happy. She's so no-sh*t about everything but this episode really showed me that she had indeed reformed.
Bugged me: That damn preacher Caleb. Kept coming back. Granted, he did some pretty heavy ass-kicking, but he annoyed me. Must ahve been the accent... :)
AND THE ENDING! What the crap is up with that ending??? Yes VERY open-ended (makes for a LOT of fan fiction ideas that's for sure!!!) but still. I like to have a little closure. It was like, ok, so Sunnydale is off the map, literally. But now what? I was really honestly expecting Buffy to collapse from her stab wound, say something insightful to Faith or Dawn or whatever and kinda die....but that was me trying to spice up the otherwise bland last 3 minutes. :) But then again, Buffy's expression after Dawn's inquiry was a fantastic way to finish. Thank goodness for the closing shot being SMG!
Season 7 finale: "Chosen" Good title, first of all...Just really kinda melodramatic. Good action and such, but poor writing and I think the writers/Joss W. were afraid to have anything sad happen to anchor the finale. Sure Spike's sacrafice was sad. But it would have been more sad and better (in my opinion) to have a lead die. Granted I am one who does that in her stories...but if Buffy/Willow/Xandar/Giles/even Dawn had died, then it would have been sad enough to be memorable. Like the Alias series finale...whcih I won't mention in case you watch it!! If ou won't, let me know and I'll tell you!! :)
As Peter Pan would say: GIRLS TALK TO MUCH! I'm sorry for my endless blabbing! I couldn't stop! I just love talking about Buffy!

i've had a million discussions with myself and the tv after watching the finale so i'll keep it brief.
yeah it was great, i could never say anything but. however, i was disappointed. the whole season seemed to move slowly but still remained interesting, till the end when it seemed rushed. i thought the relationship between buffy and dawn wasn't thought out, surely buffy realised their was a strong chance of either her or dawn not making it so whatever dawn said, she would've pinned her down and hugged her and told her how much she loved her. or maybe thats me.
also, the deaths or lack thereof. i thought buffy was going to die especially after being stabbed like that. seriously, how did she get back up and fight her ass off?! i then at least thought we'd lose xander, willow or giles since they have been with us since day one. but no, anya and spike. and anya's just seemed to be put to one side. somewhat disappointing. at the time it was aired my then boyfriend said it was like they wanted to keep all the 'good' characters in case they made more episodes.
i also thought they'd make more use of angel. it was kind of expected he'd come back but it was soooo disapointing and totally pointless! i feel like they tried to make him sarcastic and funny but it didn't work in my book... either bring him back to fight or get lost!
i loved the ending with spike and buffy (cos i want to believe buffy did love him) and it made me cry like a baby!!
i hated how dawn had the last line... i never liked her character at all so maybe thats one reason but i think one of the scoobies should have ended it.
lastly, it didn't feel final. i know sunnydale was all but destroyed but it seemed too 'easy'. as far as i'm concerned the first evil being the biggest big bad should have taken a lot more... going back to deaths, i think more people should've died and the final battle should've been longer and more intense...
BUT i did enjoy it :lmao:

I don't now if anyone has mentioned this (or if I already did at some point), but I really liked the way Caleb died. First Buffy slashed from left to right on his chest, then she went vertical on him and sliced him top to bottom. It was the shape of a cross......
I never really noticed that. Nice!

Ok, I just finished watching chosen, and I gotta say I really think it is one of the best television show finals I have ever seen. Pretty much every show final leaves me really pissed off and with so many questions and greivences. This one did that but left me more satisfied than most. My only wish is that it was longer, like a 2 hour thing, and more time spent on other characters, it really did become the Buffy/Spike/Willow show, which doesn't bother me that much since I love them!.
If this is already a current thread please let me know, I looked through a bit and didn't see one but I did not look through em all, way to time consuming. What I mostly wanna know is, that bit where Buffy comes down to the basement and her and Spike just stand there and it fades to black....what do you think happened there?. Joss said on the commentary that its open to inturpretation but my first thought was that they slept together, what do you think?
When I first watched this ep, I remember being really satisfied too, though very, very, very sad about Anya's death. I think it's the brilliance of the idea of empowering all the Potentials that made me go totally like "wow, that's just the perfect idea.". Besides, what's not to love about Buffy's empowering speech ? The "So make your choice... Are you ready to be strong ?" part stayed with me for so long...
Indeed, a two-parter would have been way better. Some explanation about Joyce's prophecy, even a few words to say "well that was just the First"... And more Xander, more Dawn, more Giles, more Faith, more FourCore. =)

The thing I didn't like about this ending, is the part where all the potentials become slayers. It's like... Buffy is not unique anymore, the concept is gone. So I thought that sucked. I understand the brilliant side of it, but still...
Agree that it is a very satisfying ending, even though it isn't really the end.
I always get this nice feeling when watching it, which I like. :)
Regardning Buffy and Spike in the basement I have actually never made up my mind what I think happened...

I did love the fact that, at the end, there was at least the faint hope that Buffy would be able to at last be able to rest from the battle for at least a little while, to let Faith and all of the other girls take over, but that little "You ain't seen ANYTHING yet" smile at the end shattered all hope of that for me. Buffy will always be a leader, never just a commander. The other girls can cover her back for the simple reason that she will always be the first one to enter the fight and the last one to leave it.
As for the episode itself, I believe that at least that and possibly the one before it should have been two hours long. There were seven years of fighting, dying, crying, laughing and loving to bring together into what we at that time believed would have been a suitable end for the show. Two extra hours would have gone a long way toward achieving that.

I'll give you a tip that might help. If you want to talk about a specific aspect of an episode, title your thread in a way which reflects that.
If you just title it the name of the episode, the thread will be merged with the existing episode thread, because the conversation tends to want to wander towards the subject suggested in the title.
