I put very interesting. He isn't my favorite character but he is pretty cool in his own way. I'm glad he's on the show and I'm kinda interested in where his character is going considering how far he's come.

He's very interesting. Obviously not my favorite character, but he brings a lot of class and mystery to the show. Plus he's a kick-ass guy, so who couldn't love that? Gunn rocks. :D

Well, I think he is a very handsome man and a decent actor. I have really enjoyed his character since he was first introduced to the show. I have not seen S3 nor 4, but I do appreciate his current changes in S5. He contributes to the show very much, even if he is not my favorite.

I was going to go with "very interesting character" and truthfully I really do feel that way. But I went with hot and sexy instead because after reading the comments I didn't feel his hotness was being very well represented. yup.

I do not think that he is obnoxious, annoying or hot, but he doesn't really fit as "very interesting" either. I liked a lot of the older storylines that involved him and I think that he really has a place in the show now. If he left, I would notice his absence.

I never really liked him, he seemed quite uninteresting to me.
Season 5 changed that. I think he's much cooler now and there's certainly potential there now to make him a really interesting character now.

He's an interesting character, but I don't think the show would fail without him.
I like Gunn... I think he's pretty cool and the banter between him and Angel when they first met was funny!

Annoying... well maybe not entirely, just that, most of the time, I really don't care for him, he's never interesting.
How can you think so?? He's upgrade is really interesting..

Nah, he really isn't, only in the latest US-episode, a Whole in the World, did he really impress me.
Overall, he's just boring, I can't really identify with him.

I love Gunn he is one of the best charecter in the Jossverse. He is so human and flawed but has such a good heart. I've always loved him, he was this really hard-core cross me i'll cross you type of front but underneath he is a softy. I dont get why he doesnt get more attention by us fans cause i think hes such a great charecter. And JA is such a good actor i mean just look at shells, the only time i cried in that ep was when he was in the hospital with Harmony. :(

He was always a charecter there, but it was never realy despised my me, or loved by me, so I went with interesting, he was really cool, but I think it shapes the show, like he has a part and.. I have no idea why im talking about shapes...
Anyways, When he was left behind in "underneath" I was really sad that he was cause I thought hey he will never be on the show and he has been since season 1, and then It started being weird on the show, and that just showed you that a charecter, that wasent that big, can make a huge difference when hes gone.

He is a hot, sexy and very interesting guy. And he was no more annoying or obnoxious than the rest of them, if one has to be honest. He was too good for Fred.

Why not? If any character wasn't truly needed, it was Fred. She was merely a plot device.

I have only seen most almost all of s2, and part of s3, so maybe he becomes more important later on, but so far I don't see him as needed. I love him, and I think he's a great part of the show, but I don't think it would be much worse without him. Still I'm glad he's there.

I really liked Gunn in season 2. I loved Gunn, Cordelia and Wesley when they had their own gang without Angel, heh.. But he really started to annoy me, I never wanted him with Fred and well.. he just stopped being an interesting character to me. He's okay though.. And I sort of liked him more in season 5 but.. yea, not a favorite character of mine..

When Gunn and Fred got together I was at first a bit shocked beacuse all I saw was Fred and Wesley and I wanted them together instead. Gunn and Fred had some cute moments together but I never felt for them so much as a couple.

Yea, I liked Gunn too, up until Fred/Gunn... It just seemed too thrown together to me... Maybe I was caught up in the Wesley/Fred thing, but it seemed like it came out of left feild... Gunn, to me, didn't seem like the type of guy to want to be in a relationship... He wanted the fight too much... Idk... He got annoying to me after a while... But I've yet to see Seasons 4 and 5... Maybe it'll get better :P

He was definitely good enough for her, that's not at all what I'm talking about. I meant as characters, in a TV show, to me they weren't a good couple. It could have been cool if it was just a thing, to make the Fred/Wesley relationship more difficult or even impossible.. but to me Fred/Gunn never worked. I definitely see how he as a character would fall for her, and I see that she would like him as well but.. a couple, no, didn't work for me.

I put that he's very hot and sexy, because its true! He is! :) But he's also an interesting character. I suppose he can get annoying at times, too, but doesn't every character get annoying at point or another?

My option isn't up there. Personally I always took him for granted and never really saw him as a 3D character up until the last season, loved him in Not Fade Away. Him and Cordy both were just humans that did their best and that even though they made mistakes, they truly had good hearts.

So, why is that Fred/Wesley seems more probable than Fred/Gunn? I'm curious.
At least Fred/Gunn didn't nauseate me, like Fred/Wesley did.

I think he was a very interesting character. He could also be annoying, but I really think he was a good character and I liked the Fred/Gunn relationship. They just seemed to just "fit" together. I wasn't so sure about the Fred/Wesley coupling though...

I'm comfortable in the group that preferred Fred/Wesley to Fred/Gunn. Fred and Wesley seemed to have more in common and felt like a better fit to me.
Also Fred has a bit of a hero fixation. She was pretty mixed up when she first came out of Pylea. Gunn was the more obvious hero type in a physical sense. I can see where she'd be attracted to him first. When he tried to take control of her decision to compromise her morality though, she recognized his feet of clay, and dumped him. She was aware of Wesley's flaws, yet she chose him anyway. This suggests to me they had a better chance of surviving as a couple.
As far as Gunn as a character goes, I didn't find him very fleshed out until Season 5. At that point he became pretty interesting to me.

I definitely agree that Gunn was way more interesting in season 5, then before that. I liked him in the beginning, he was cool and all, but it was that Gunn/Fred thing that partly ruined both of those characters to me. They're both great characters, but as I said, they don't work as a couple..
Gunn in season 5 though, is the fun, cool Gunn again. And I love how they didn't make some weird story about the Gunn/Fred/Wesley thing in season 5... Well, of course they didn't really have time for that I guess, since Fred and Wesley weren't really a coupel for that long but still... I love how Gunn just accepts Fred/Wesley and is evern happy for them... That made me all happy and made me love Gunn even more.. mmhm...

I really liked gunn, he was cool, funny and witty. I hated the way other members of AI made him feel like he was just the 'muscle' when he was so much better than that, they where lucky to have him and i loved the whole gunn/fred thing i thought they where great together

I didnt think he was hot, I didnt think he was annoying, I didnt think he was the 'greatest' character, and I didnt think he was the dumbest character..he was just Gunn to me. Haha. A Good Character he was, and in some episodes he was awesome. But in others he was annoying. ...But hes a cool dude.

I pretty much agree. What goes on under the surface with this character is pretty subtle, but it's really powerful if you take a moment to look at his development. He is a really great guy who hasn't always had it easy and who has made some really big mistakes. It also helps that he's hot - especially when he strides into court in that suit. Also, I thought he and Fred were adorable together. I was sad when they broke up.

I thought he was a pretty damn good character. He seemed a lot more complex than many fans give him credit for. I also found it interesting that although Whedon made it clear that Gunn was a very intelligent man, many fans tend to accept Fred's opinion of him as the group's not-very-intelligent "muscle". I find that odd.

I think the show would still have been great without Gunn, simply different. As with any ensemble cast, each player brings his own quality, and without it, the show just wouldn't be the same. For example, what if, instead of the Gunn was never on the show, but Robin Wood was? Different character, different actor, both demon fighters with family members killed by vamps. The same but different. Or maybe a less dorky Groo. Lorne could've been a more heroic character, more of a warrior than a lounge singer. There could have been Oz... any number of possibilities. I have faith in the Almighty Joss. He could've made it work with anyone. Different, but just as good.

great character, one of the best on Angel(along with Angel and Lorne, and s1&2 Wes) His episodes, like War Zone and That Old gang of Mine, were way better than the Cordy or Fred or Lorne ones. Plus, the show really needed someone cool.

I loved him. I think he (and the idea of his gang) added a lot to the show. However, I think the "gang" part should have been left in the leave well enough alone department before "That Old Gang Of Mine". I thought that was kind of hoaky and stupid.
I guess it helped with Fred's character, but I was bored with it before then.

I loved Gunn as a character because he was just a normal guy who had to grow up fending for himself. A bit like Xander in that he has no special powers or knowledge so he sometimes feels useless or left out of the group.
Personally I think, out of the other characters on the show, he is the most similar to Angel. He the leader of his own gang, doesn't like to show a lot of emotion and also he has the big guilt-trip thing going. He blames himself for his sister's death, regardless if it's his fault or not.
I love Gunn but then again I love all the characters on Angel!
