She sat around the fire. Giles told her that 'she would come to her when the time was right. Buffy stared into the fire for a few minutes. A rustling of bushes and a howl of the wind was all the cue she needed. Appearing from the smoke, the first Slayer appeared to her. They talked for minutes about being the Slayer, the power, the destiny. Soon their conversation took a different turn. A turn for the worse.
"Death is your gift." The First Slayer spoke as she stalked Buffy's shadow from the other side of the roaring fire."
"Death?"
"Is your gift... You're Christmas gift." The First Slayer pulled a present out from the fire. It was wrapped in paper and had a bow on it. "Merry Christmas Buffy. I got you Death this year. I hope you like it."
A Buffy Christmas Tale
Willow got out of bed and stretched. She looked over to the right side of the bed where Kennedy was still fast asleep. She walked out of the room, careful not to wake her, and went downstairs. The Summers House was decorated beautifully for the Christmas season. Buffy wanted to have a normal Christmas for once. Being the only Slayer for many years always made the holiday season a little sad and always very dangerous.
She walked into the kitchen where she saw Xander with his back turned to her. He was eating cerial while he watched cartoons on the small television in the kitchen. "Morning Xander." She said.
"Morning." He turned around on the little chair and smiled at her. Instead of the same old black eye-patch he always wore, today he had a red one with white fluffy things around the rim. As soon as Willow saw it, she broke into a hysterical laughter as she saw how stupid her friend looked.
"Xander..." She breathed. "You look... so... funny..." She tried to breathe again, but it was just so funny to her."
"Ah, well, I had to try. It's almost Christmas and I want this year to be different. Especially since this is our first year in a long time without having to worry about a demon trying to ruin the fun."
"Oh, don't even jinx it. Because knowing our luck something bad will happen." She grabbed some cerial and made herself a bowl. She sat next to him and looked at the television. "Whatcha watching?"
"Oh, nothing. Just the Charlie Brown Christmas Special." Xander smiled. "is it time?"
"I think so." She smiled back. "do it, but don't make me laugh to hard. I don't want to wake everyone up."
"Ok." Xander stood up. As a Christmas tradition he did with Willow since they were 5-years-old. He stood in front of Willow and perceeded to do 'the snoopy dance'. It was going to be a good Christmas indeed.
