CAMERA ON: BUFFY and ANGEL
BUFFY
OK, I'm cookie dough. I'm not done baking. I'm not finished becoming whoever the hell it is I'm gonna turn out to be. I make it through this, and the next thing, and the next thing, and maybe one day I turn around and realize I'm ready. I'm cookies. And then, you know, if I want someone to eat— (eyes go wide as she catches herself) or enjoy warm, delicious cookie me, then...that's fine. That'll be then. When I'm done.
ANGEL
Any thoughts on who might enjoy— (sighs, irritated) Do I have to go with the cookie analogy?
BUFFY
I'm not really thinking that far ahead. That's kind of the point.
ANGEL
(hands the amulet to Buffy) I'll go start working on the second front. Make sure I don't have to use it. (walks away)
BUFFY
(calls after him) Angel. (he turns to look at her) I do... sometimes think that far ahead.
ANGEL
Sometimes is something. (smiles, walks away)
BUFFY
Be a long time coming. Years, if ever.
ANGEL
(shrugs) I ain't getting any older. (walks away)
CUT TO:
26 INT. LIVING ROOM AT BUFFY'S HOUSE - DAY
CAMERA ON: Buffy, she is addressing a living room full of potentials and her friends.
BUFFY
So here's the part where you make a choice: What if you could have that power...now? In every generation, one slayer is born... because a bunch of men who died thousands of years ago made up that rule. They were powerful men. This woman (points to Willow) is more powerful than all of them combined. (Willow whimpers) So I say we change the rule. I say my power...
26a INT. PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE AT SUNNYDALE HIGH - DAY
Kennedy sits up smiling and confident.
BUFFY (V.O.)
...should be our power.
26b INT. HELLMOUTH - DAY
CAMERA ON: Vi, Rona, Amanda close their eyes and breathe in with a start.
BUFFY (V.O.)
Tomorrow, Willow will use the essence of the scythe to change our destiny.
26c EXT. BASEBALL DIAMOND - DAY
CAMERA ON: A young woman stands at the plate staring at the pitcher, waiting to bat. She looks a little nervous.
BUFFY (V.O.)
From now on, every girl in the world who might be a slayer...
26d INT. HIGH SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY
CAMERA ON: A young woman breathes heavily as she leans on her locker for support.
BUFFY (V.O.)
will be a slayer.
26e INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: A young woman is lying across the floor, having fallen out of her chair.
BUFFY (V.O.)
Every girl who could have the power...

CAMERA ON: In a Japanese-style dining room, a young woman stands up at family dinner.
BUFFY (V.O.)

CAMERA ON: A young woman grabs the wrist of a man who's trying to slap her face, preventing him.
BUFFY (V.O.)
will stand up.
26h EXT. BASEBALL DIAMOND - DAY
CAMERA ON: The girl at the plate changes from nervous to confident, smiling as she waits for the pitch.
BUFFY (V.O.)
Slayers... every one of us. Make your choice. Are you ready to be strong?
26i INT. PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE AT SUNNYDALE HIGH - DAY
CAMERA ON: The scythe is glowing white in Willow's hands.
CUT TO:
36 INT. HALLWAY AT SUNNYDALE HIGH - DAY
CAMERA ON: Bringers have made their way to the fight and are attacking Andrew. Anya fights them off, but there are too many. While she stabs one with her sword, another slices diagonally though her torso from behind, killing her.
CUT TO:
37 INT. HELLMOUTH - DAY
CAMERA ON: Spike gasps and stumbles backward away from the fight as he clutches his chest, then his burned hand.
SPIKE
Oh, bollocks.
A bright blue light shoots up from the amulet, knocking a hole in the ceiling, going up through the floor of the Principal's office past Willow and through to the open sky. The light turns a warm orange color.
CUT TO:
41 INT. HELLMOUTH - DAY
CAMERA ON: BUFFY and SPIKE, holding hands.
BUFFY
(softly, looks into his eyes) I love you.
SPIKE
No, you don't. But thanks for saying it.
There's another earthquake; Buffy lets go of his hand.
SPIKE
Now go!
Buffy runs up the stairs.
SPIKE
I wanna see how it ends.
CUT TO:
45 INT.HELLMOUTH - DAY
CAMERA ON: Spike stands in the crumbling hellmouth with light shining down on him from above, grinning from ear to ear and laughing as he burns up from the sunlight. He dusts slowly—first his skin singes, then his muscles, then his bones—then he's gone. The hellmouth crumbles in around him.
CUT TO:
49 EXT. SCHOOL BUS - DAY
CAMERA ON: Buffy is still staring at the canyon that once was Sunnydale. Dawn stands beside her, then Giles joins them, as do Xander, Willow, and Faith.
FAITH
Looks like the hellmouth is officially closed for business.
CUT TO:
FAITH
Yeah, you're not the one and only chosen anymore. Just gotta live like a person. How's that feel?
DAWN
Yeah, Buffy. What are we gonna do now?
As the others chatter around her, Buffy just stares straight ahead at the hole formerly known as Sunnydale. As she contemplates what's next, she smiles.
BLACK OUT
TEASER
1 INT. EMERGENCY CENTER - DAY
CAMERA ON: A lady behind the counter, typing something, then looking up at the person on the other side.
(Subt.)
Emergency Center near the former town of Sunnydale, 3 weeks later.
LADY
Yes, well it seems that you have filled out everything properly, your insurance company will pay you within seven working days and the government support will be paid out at the end of the month.
MAN
Thank you.
LADY
No problem, next please.
CAMERA ON: the man, he steps away from the queue, the next in the line, steps into focus, it's Buffy.
LADY
Hello ma'am.
BUFFY
Hi, I euhm wanted to report, that I'm leaving.
LADY
I see. Have you filled out all of the forms?
Buffy hands her a few papers.
LADY
I need to check these, off course; it'll just take a minute.
The lady puts one of the papers in the scanner, then checks her computer, and types something on it.
Ok, please state your full name?
BUFFY
Buffy Anne Summers
LADY
Ok, you're a California-state citizen, former citizen of Sunnydale?
BUFFY
Yes!
LADY
And you are the legal guardian of Dawn Cathryn Summers?
BUFFY
Correct.
LADY
Ok, last one, where are you moving?
BUFFY
Edmonsville, California.

2 INT. EMERGENCY CENTER - DAY
CAMERA ON: Buffy walking through rows of mattresses on which people, who lost their homes in Sunnydale, sleep. A lot of them are already up. She reaches Dawn and Xander.
DAWN
So, how did it go?
BUFFY
Pretty ok, we'll have all the money by the end of the month and we're free to go now.
DAWN
Oh, that's great news! I can't wait to get out of here. How soon did you say we will leave?
XANDER
I think we can leave today, I know we won't get the house until tomorrow 11am, but we can just go up there and go to a motel instead of staying here for another night.
BUFFY
Don't get her hopes up; you know I can't afford that!
XANDER
But I can. Look Buff, don't worry 'bout the money, I'll take care of it.
Buffy hugs Xander.
BUFFY
You're really too good.
CAMERA MOVES to reveal Willow and Kennedy both in their nightgowns standing behind Buffy. Xander releases Buffy.
BUFFY
Finally you're awake, you'd better get dressed, there's a long line in front of that office.
WILLOW
I know, but guess what?
BUFFY
What?
WILLOW
Last night I got the call, we got the dorm, so we had to celebrate, that's why we're up this late you see.
BUFFY
Oh, you guys that's great ... you don't mean, like celebrate as in ... you know, I mean there are people?
Willow looks at Dawn.
WILLOW
Best not get in detail. There's just one problem, we can only move in at the end of this month, so we were wondering whether we could...
Buffy looks at Xander. He nods.
BUFFY
Sure, you can as long as you help with the fixing of the place. Oh and we're leaving in an hour or two, so you'd better hurry.
WILLOW
I'm already gone.
3 INT. BUS - DAY
PAN ACROSS the bus from the driver across all seats to the back of the bus. Kennedy, Willow, Xander, Dawn and Buffy are sitting there. They're talking, but we can't hear them, we just hear music
PAN IN: on Buffy, who is sitting there, motionlessly, looking out of the window, toward where one day Sunnydale was, where all we can see now is a huge cloud of dust and a huge crater.
The bus starts, the music stops, and we hear the voices.
WILLOW
Yeah I know that's just so...
BUFFY (mumbling)
I think we're moving.
KENNEDY
Finally, I was tired of waiting.
WILLOW
Oh, this is so exciting, finally!
DAWN
Hey, I know ... let's all sing a song!
Notices all the looks.
Or perhaps not.
KENNEDY
I thought not, you totally don't wanna hear me singing.
BUFFY
I don't think it's such a bad id.
WILLOW
Oh really? Which song do you propose, "We are the Champions" or ... what?
BUFFY
No, I think y'all know this one.
Buffy stands up

XANDER now stands up.
BUFFY and XANDER (singing)

WILLOW
The battle's done and the war is won.
WILLOW and DAWN get up too now.

WILLOW picks KENNEDY to her feet.
ALL (singing)

4 INT. DIFFERENT PLACES - DAY and NIGHT
The scene contains a lot of short clips, no sound, just music, of the gang in furniture shops, painting, decorating the house, fixing things, moving things etc.
5 EXT. EDMONSVILLE VIEW FROM THE SKY - DAY
(Subt.)
August 2003
ZOOM IN on a house on the cliff side, that looks out over the sea. We stop zooming, when we reach the front door. Suddenly it opens, and Buffy picks up the paper from the steps. She goes in again and closes the door behind her.
6 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - DAY
DAWN is there, eating breakfast, as Buffy walks in with the paper and Xander with his bathrobes on.
XANDER
Good morning all.
DAWN (with a full mouth)
Grrmhblah.
BUFFY
Right, I meant to say that. What are you doing still wearing those, didn't you say you had a meeting with the bank?
XANDER
I did, but that's not until 11 o'clock, so I thought I'd stay in bed long, make sure I'm well rested and all, but for a second there I forgot that I live in the same house as the two of you.
DAWN
We woke you up? Ah, poor Xander, sorry 'bout that.
XANDER
So, Dawnie, big day for you as well.
DAWN shrugs.
DAWN
I guess.
BUFFY
Well, this is not the start of any year, it's your last one, at least I hope so, plus it's a whole new school.
DAWN
I know, but this time, it's not build on the hellmouth, so I figured it'd be lots easier.
BUFFY
Well you'd think.
DAWN
So, I mean, seeing that it's easy and all, I also figured, that homework, won't really do me any good either.
BUFFY
Nice try, now let's get you going, don't wanna be late, all ready?
DAWN
Ready as I'll ever be.
BUFFY
That ought to do, see you later Xander, take care.
XANDER
I will. Good luck, both of you!
7 INT. WILLOW AND KENNEDY'S DORM - DAY
CAMERA MOVES around to see all sorts of magical items lying around and clothes scattered around the room. We move to see Kennedy and Willow still in bed in each other's arms. Willow slowly opens her eyes and reaches out for her alarm clock to take a look at the time. We see the expression on her face change. She throws the alarm clock away and pushes Kennedy.
WILLOW
Ken, wake up, we're gonna be late.
KENNEDY
What?
WILLOW
Ceremonial opening of the year starts in 20 minutes.
KENNEDY
Nobody ever goes there, I'll skip it.
WILLOW
Freshmen have to be there.
KENNEDY
Damn. I told you, college isn't my thing.
WILLOW
Just hurry up.
They both get up.
8 INT. AUDITORIUM - DAY
The hall is filled with people listening to the Vice-Chancellor.
VICE-CHANCELLOR
... and so, I'm just going to wish you, both freshmen and other year's students, but also the teaching staff and other staff members, the best of luck!
Everybody applauds.
9 INT. AUDITORIUM - DAY
Everyone is walking off in different directions. As are Willow and Buffy.
WILLOW
Wouldn't have guessed you'd come to this sort of thing.
BUFFY
Well I was just early for my first class, so I just popped in for the "good lucks", 'cause I'll need 'em.
WILLOW
I reckon you do, you have a lot of catching up to do, well here's my exit, I'll see you around, oh and don't forget, Friday night, we go out.
Willow walks into a classroom and leaves Buffy behind.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY standing there all alone in the middle of the crowded hall, but she smiles, and walks off.
10 INT. LUNCH ROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN from behind, walking into the lunch room with her plate, she looks around the room, first at a table with cheerleaders and jocks, then at one with Goths, then one with nerds.
LUX (O.S.)
I know what, you're thinking, but yes, there are actually normal people around in this school, but we tend to hide ourselves, you never know, they might be contagious.
DAWN turns around.
DAWN
Hi, I'm Dawn.
LUX
I know who you are; you're in my English class, right?
Notices Dawn's puzzled face.
Oh, right, I'm Lux. Sorry, but I won't shake hands with you.
Dawn gives her a look.
I'm quite clumsy and if I try and hold my plate in one hand, while shaking your hand with my other, the food is bound to go skydiving, and I'm hungry. So, looking for a place to stay, why don't you come sit with me?
DAWN (puzzled)
Sure.
They walk of chatting.
11 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE HALL - DAY
CAMERA ON: the door opens, Buffy walks in. Drops her bags, then sniffs a few times and then goes for the kitchen.
12 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - DAY (cont'd)
CAMERA ON: Buffy's face, mouth open, stunned.
CAMERA TURNS AROUND: to see Xander (with Chef-hat on) cooking something. The whole kitchen is a mess.
XANDER
Oh, hi Buffy.
Xander looks down again and flips a page.
BUFFY
What ... are you doing?
XANDER
I'm euhm ... well look around and take a guess.
BUFFY
You're cooking.
XANDER
Jackpot.
BUFFY
I know, what it is, that you're doing, but why? Since when do you...?
XANDER
Cook? Since, I'm in this extremely good mood.
BUFFY
I take it your meeting went very well.
XANDER
It was ok. But the thing is, I had parked my car near the beach on that parking lot next to the supermarket. And when I walked back to my car, I overheard these two guys talking about how difficult it was going to be, to build the new docs there. So I thought, let's make friends in the new neighbourhood, and offered my services.
BUFFY (laughing)
I'm sure you did, so what did they say?
XANDER
Well they explained that having the nearest construction company at 25 miles away wasn't very practical. So I hinted at this other new company in town, Harris and Co. and this afternoon I got phone call, whether I'd be willing to have lunch with one of their executives.
BUFFY
Oh my god, that's wonderful news.
Buffy hugs Xander.
XANDER
I know, but the hardest part is yet to come.
BUFFY
That meeting.
XANDER
No, making this receipt, like remotely like what it looks in the book.

13 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE DINING ROOM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: the table with lots of food on it, KENNEDY and WILLOW sitting next to each other on one side, BUFFY and DAWN on the other. XANDER walks in with a big plate, puts it down in the middle, then sits at the end of the table. He picks up his glass and stands up again.
XANDER
Everybody, I would like to propose a toast to us, and our future, that we may live a happy life, wherever we go to!
Buffy raises her glass.
BUFFY
Amen to that!
They all toast. After this, they start to eat (for the rest of the scene, who doesn't speak, eats).
XANDER
So how was everyone’s first day?
DAWN
Mine was ok; I think I made my first normal friend.
BUFFY
That's good ... you ... go you!
KENNEDY
Oh my god you guys, we went on the introduction and we got to see the marine labs, those are like huge.
WILLOW
Well I got to take a scoop around the library, it's pretty impressive, and I bet Giles would be stinking jealous.
XANDER
Talking about Giles, how is he holding up in England?
BUFFY
I don’t know, last time I spoke to him, he was fine, but that was two weeks ago. He was really busy and all with the Watcher's Council. He's trying to recruit new watcher, because there are not enough of them for all the slayers. So he can only send out watchers to those who need them most, which he told, means you're last on the list Kennedy, 'cause you have us.
KENNEDY
That's ok; I can take care of myself.
BUFFY
Oh boy, you're in for a treat.
WILLOW
Well, as we're into slayer stuff now anyway, I have another thing I've been meaning to discuss with you; patrolling. We need to set up a schedule of some kind of who patrols where and when.
XANDER
I guess.
WILLOW
You sure, you're not in for this?
BUFFY
Definatly.
WILLOW
How about you Dawnie?
DAWN takes a vicious look at BUFFY.
DAWN
No thanks.
WILLOW
But I thought you said-
DAWN
-I know, sorry.
DAWN is still looking at BUFFY.
WILLOW takes notice.
WILLOW
Oh, I see! Xander how about you?
XANDER
I wonder why you even bother asking.
KENNEDY looks puzzled.
WILLOW
That's a yes!
14 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: the room, messy, XANDER cleaning up. BUFFY in her nightgown.
BUFFY
Thanks Xander, for not having me help you clean up.
XANDER
I made the mess in the first place, and I'm off all day tomorrow, so now worries.
BUFFY
Well I'm going to bed then, g'night.
XANDER
Night!
BUFFY walks off, yawning.
15 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE HALLWAY - NIGHT (cont'd)
BUFFY walks into the hallway. DAWN is standing there, arms crossed.
BUFFY sighs.
BUFFY
Please, Dawn, we've been through this.
DAWN
Well apparently not enough.
BUFFY
At least not now, I'm tired, gimme a break.
DAWN
We'll have this conversation any where, any time, until you make up your mind.
BUFFY walks into her room. DAWN follows.
16 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE BUFFY'S ROOM - NIGHT
BUFFY
I have, believe me I have.
DAWN
Well ... that's just ... not your right mind.
BUFFY
Yes it is, now will you let it go.
DAWN
NO! Because it's not fair.
BUFFY
I'm just looking out for you Dawn, that's all. Can't you see I just want the best for you? I don't want you to have the life I had.
DAWN
Well maybe I DO!
BUFFY
You don't know what it's like.
DAWN
And this way, I'll never find out, will I? You always said it yourself; the worse thing 'bout being the slayer is never having a choice. Well now you're not giving me any.
DAWN shakes her head in disapproval,
You're such a hypocrite
She walks out and slams the door behind her.
BUFFY sighs, then drops herself onto her bed.
17 INT. WILLOW AND KENNEDY'S DORM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: WILLOW’s busy with some sort of magical orb, we see KENNEDY's back, she undressing.
KENNEDY walks over to WILLOW, who holds her hands 20 inches from each other, then closes her eyes. A magical sphere grows between her hands. Then she opens her eyes again, stretches her arms, until the sphere touches the orb. The sphere then starts to shrink and the orb is filled with the same colour the sphere had. The colour in the orb slowly fades.
KENNEDY
What are you doing?
WILLOW closes her eyes again.
WILLOW
Channelling magical energy within me into a sphere of pure magical energy.
She does so.
WILLOW
And then let this orb absorb it.
She does o.
KENNEDY puts her arms around WILLOW's waist from behind.
KENNEDY
What's the use of it?
WILLOW
Well, I produce all this energy, but I can only hold a limited amount of it, and this orb can hold an infinite amount of pure magical energy. So by filling it, I can build up a spare. I case I might ever need a quick re-fill.
KENNEDY
I see, very clever.
WILLOW stands up.
WILLOW
Plus channelling pure energy is very hard, so it makes a great exercise.
KENNEDY stands up as well.
KENNEDY
Talking about it, I think it's time for my training.
WILLOW
What now? It's nearly midnight.
KENNEDY
Exactly, that's why!
WILLOW
What's why? I'm not following you, Ken, what do you wanna train at this hour?
KENNEDY
Well I was thinking we'd start out with the lips, and if I'm good enough, we could go on to the hips as well.
WILLOW smiles and they kiss.
18 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN finishing up on breakfast, BUFFY still in the middle of hers, XANDER entering the room.
BUFFY
Hi Xander!
DAWN
Hi Xander!
XANDER
Hi both!
He walks to the fridge and pours a glass of orange juice.
XANDER
You're both awfully quiet today.
Neither of them replies, they all eat. Suddenly DAWN rises.
DAWN
I got to get to school, see ya Xan.
XANDER
See ya!
DAWN takes a vicious look at BUFFY then walks off.
XANDER
Mind telling me what that was all about?
BUFFY (looking down at her plate, muttering)
Nothing.
XANDER
Well, it sure looks as if Dawn makes an awfully big something out of this nothing of yours.
BUFFY sighs
We had a fight last night.
XANDER
Makes sense, 'bout patrolling.
BUFFY sarcastic
How did you guess?
XANDER
I had an eye for these kinds of things. So are you gonna tell me or do I have to ask for it?
BUFFY
She thinks I'm a hypocrite.
XANDER
That's a new one.
BUFFY
And she's got a point with it.
XANDER
How's that?
BUFFY
She reminded me, that I felt the worse part 'bout being the slayer was never having a choice. Now she says I'm a hypocrite, because I'm not offering her any, and the worse part is; she has a point.
XANDER
Hmm, well as much as I hate to say this, I think she does too.
BUFFY faintly smiling
Thanks for the moral support there Xander. But still she's in danger, even with you and the others watching over her, looking after her, she's the weakest and she's my responsibility.
XANDER
Buffy, when we moved here, when you quit being the slayer, you said that you didn't want to live your life in service of the whole world, that for once you wanted to live your life, nor for others, but for yourself. So why are you trying to live your life in service of Dawn now? She's a grown girl, she can take care of herself, and at time, when she doesn't, you're not the only one, who's there to help her. I'm here, Willow and Kennedy are here, and there's a whole world full of other people who will help her. It doesn't always have to be you, not with slaying, not with Dawn. You're not the only chosen one anymore, and you're not, nor have you ever been, the only one loving Dawn, looking after her, keeping her save. We go hand in hand, remember.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY nodding quietly.
19 EXT. SCHOOLYARD - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN and LUX sitting on a bench, eating lunch.
LUX
Oh and that's Kevin, he's way hot, but a real a-class jerk, so I wouldn't try if I were you.
Looks at DAWN.
Are you even listening?
DAWN
What? I'm sorry; I'm not entirely here with my mind.
She yawns.
LUX
Bad night?
DAWN
I had a fight at home.
LUX shakes her head.
LUX
My parents divorced three years ago, so I know what it is. Who was it with, mother, father or worse, both?
DAWN
No, even worse ... sister.
LUX
I wish I had a sister.
DAWN
I wish I had parents.
LUX (startled)
What do you mean?
DAWN
My parents divorced when I was little, I haven't had contact with my father in the last five years.
LUX
And you're mom?
DAWN
She died of a brain tumour two and a half year ago.
LUX
Oh, I'm sorry; I'm so-o-o sorry.
DAWN
It's ok, you couldn't have know, besides I've accepted it.
LUX
So now what, you live with your sister?
DAWN
At first yes, then she left and Willow, her best friend and Willow's lesbian lover, then she came back, and Tara, the Willow's lover left, then, she came back, but then she died. Soon after that Willow left for England. After that Spike came with us. That was my sister's ex. Then Willow came back, then Andrew came in, he's a friend. ... Well more or less anyway, then Giles came, with a whole bunch of girls, and the last have year, the house was packed with like a hundred girls. Oh and Faith, and old friend or should I say enemy of my sister came in to. And that was it, then the place got blown up.
DAWN looks at the open-mouthed LUX, who's entirely paralysed.
DAWN
And now it's just me and my sis, and Xander, her best friend.
LUX (startled)
Ok ... I euhm ... see. So what was this fight about?
DAWN
Oh, the fight, well ... see ... there's this job I want, but she won't let me have it.
LUX
Oh, I see, had that same conflict two years ago, tricky one.
LUX pauses.
LUX
What job?
The bell rings.
LUX
We'll talk later, I got to run, see you!
DAWN (mumbling)

ACT III
20 INT. COLLEGE CLASS ROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: the classroom filled with bored students, a professor in front of them.
PROFESSOR
Ok, next week, we'll discuss the first chapter, which will go in-depth to what exactly conflict is. Don't worry, it's only 69 pages, so we'll start slow, you may leave now.
The students walk out of the room, BUFFY walks up to the PROFESSOR.
BUFFY
Euhm, excuse me, professor.
PROFESSOR
Yes?
BUFFY
I wanted to ask-
PROFESSOR
-excuse me.
The PROFESSOR walks of to another man, who has just entered the empty class room.
PROFESSOR
Ah, Peter, it's good that you're finally here. I take it, you've got my message?
PETER
Yes, I have, but what do you want me to do about it?
PROFESSOR
Well, I don't know either, if I did, I would have solved it myself, but I do know, that it's not my responsibility, now is it?
PETER
No, indeed not. By that I take it you mean it's mine.
PROFESSOR
How percept-
BUFFY clears her throat. They both look at her.
PROFESSOR
As you may see, I'm busy at the moment young lady, you'll have to wait.
BUFFY
But I've got another class to catch.
PETER
Who's class?
BUFFY
Professor Hemmingway.
PETER
Don't worry then, he's gonna run late today.
BUFFY sits down on the front row as the PROFESSOR and PETER continue their conversation.
We see a few more shots of BUFFY, from different angles, fading into one another.

CAMERA ON: the PROFESSOR and PETER parting. PETER leaving, the PROFESSOR stepping toward BUFFY.
PROFESSOR
Now what was it you wanted from me young miss.
BUFFY
Well, I'm new and I was told that you keep a book with all the notes of previous years, so I wondered whether I could borrow it?
PROFESSOR
No.
BUFFY (stunned and angry)
What? ... What do you mean? ... NO!?!?
PROFESSOR
I will make a copy of it, and you can come and collect that tomorrow.
BUFFY (shameful)

PROFESSOR
And just a word of advice; I'd watch that temper of yours, miss.

CAMERA ON: BUFFY leaving the classroom, PETER standing there, with a coffee.
PETER

Never mind. You'd best hurry to your next class. That Hemmingway is the head of the psychology department; you don't wanna be late and make a bad first impression.
BUFFY

CAMERA ON: WILLOW sitting in the library, KENNEDY comes up from behind her and puts her hands on WILLOW's shoulders. WILLOW turns to face KENNEDY.

She gives KENNEDY a kiss. KENNEDY sits down next to her.
KENNEDY
Hi! What are you doing?
WILLOW
Research, I'm looking into this town's history.
KENNEDY
Found anything of interest?
WILLOW
Oh plenty, well not as much as in Sunnydale, and most of it isn't very recent. There are quiet a few stories in her that we could investigate.
KENNEDY

KENNEDY

BUFFY sits down next to a girl.
SARAH
You're lucky; Professor Hemmingway is never late normally. ... I'm Sarah.
BUFFY
I'm Buffy.
CAMERA ON: With a big slam, the door swings open. Everybody's quiet. PETER walks to the front of the class.
PETER
I assume most of you already know me, I'm the head of the psychology department, and I'll be your professor for psychological disorders this year, my name is Professor Hemmingway.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY'S face, shocked.
BUFFY (whispering)
He's Professor Hemmingway?
SARAH
I know, he looks way too cute to be a professor, right?
PROFESSOR HEMMINGWAY
I know I'm late. I'm sorry for it, but some idiot almost ran over an old lady carrying her groceries. She was so scared she dropped it all. As you may understand I felt obligated to stop and help the poor woman.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY's face, even more shocked and furious.
SARAH
Isn't he the sweetest?
CAMERA ON: PROFESSOR HEMMINGWAY
PROFESSOR HEMMINGWAY
Now let's move on, everybody grab your books.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY still starring at him, wide-eyed, everyone around her grabbing their books.
CAMERA ON: PROFESSOR HEMMINGWAY, looking up at BUFFY, he winks.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY, completely startled.
25 EXT. SUMMER's RESIDENCE FRONT - DAY
CAMERA ON: BUFFY walking up to the front door, WILLOW and KENNEDY are sitting there. She looks surprised at them.
BUFFY
What are you two doing here?
WILLOW
We wanted to see how Xander did, but he's not in yet, so we thought we'd to wait for you.
BUFFY
So I see.
She opens the door and they go in.
26 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE HALL - DAY (cont'd)
They take of their coats and hang 'em up.
BUFFY
So how long have you been waiting here?
WILLOW
I'd say about thirty minutes, right?
KENNEDY
Little longer perhaps.
They enter the living room.

They all sit down on the couches.
BUFFY
It's odd, that he isn't here; he could have been back ages ago.
KENNEDY
Maybe he was, but went out again for shopping or something.
BUFFY
Maybe, though he always claims, he's too masculine to do shopping.
They hear the front door open and close, so they all turn to see the door to the hall.
It swings open, DAWN's there.
DAWN
Hi guys, what are y'all looking at?
WILLOW
Xander.
DAWN
Well he's not here; I brought home a Lux instead.
DAWN moves away to reveal LUX standing behind her.
LUX
Hi everyone!
DAWN
Ok, that's my sister Buffy!
BUFFY
How do you do?
DAWN
That's a friend of ours, Willow.
WILLOW
Nice to meet you!
DAWN
And that's her lover, Kennedy.
KENNEDY
Hi!
DAWN
Ok, so now you've met the horrors I have to live with. Buffy, Lux invited me over for dinner, can I-
BUFFY
Have fun!
DAWN (surprised)
... will do!
They go to the hall, the others turn back again. We hear the front door open and close again. Suddenly Xander walks in.
XANDER
It's good to see Dawn's already making new friends, isn't it?
They all turn around.
BUFFY
Xander?
XANDER
Except on Friday nights, then I go by the name of Alison.
WILLOW
So, how did it go?
XANDER grins
XANDER
Well this morning, they explained me the exact plans and so forth, and they asked me whether I thought I'd be able to do it. So I asked them a little time, to ask my suppliers and to see if the employees were available. So I stepped out for a few hours, making gazillion phone-calls all round the place. And well, I got everything round, though we still have a problem with the workers, cause I have to little in my database, so I'll have to search for more, maybe expand my territory of search, there's some neighbouring town's that I haven't had the time for to visit during the summer, so I'll go there. But as I was saying most of it got round, so I went back in and we both singed a provisionary contract.
WILLOW
Wow, I think this is cause for a celebration.
XANDER
Yeah, but not now, tomorrow night, when Dawn's in as well. Right now I just wanna eat, 'cause we had so much to discuss that we didn't get to lunch at all.

ACT IV
28 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN enters; XANDER turns around with a pan in his hand.
XANDER
Pancake?
DAWN
Yummies, so the meeting went well, by the smell of things!
XANDER
Suppose you could say that. I've promised the others that we'll all go out tonight. I was hoping you'd join, unless off course, you have other plans?
DAWN
Oh no I'd love to come, that is, IF my sister will let me.
XANDER
I'm sure she will. She just has trouble letting go, give her time, it'll pass.
DAWN
I sure hope so. Where were you planning on taking us?
XANDER
I don't know; what choice do we have?
DAWN
Yeah, unlike Sunnydale. There are off course a few of the usual café's, where grumpy old men and the fishers join up to talk about the bad weather. And then there are three clubs. First one the Pink Panther, but although Kennedy and Willow will enjoy themselves there, I think we're a little to straight for the place. Then there's Silverdust, which is much like the Bronze, mostly rock and alternative. And there's the swing palace, the Golden Bolt, which is basically lots of sweating people moving on R&B rhythms.
XANDER
Though one.
DAWN
There's also a strip-joint just out of town!
XANDER
Did I say though?
Pauses.
I'll think about it, I'll let you know.
29 EXT. STREET - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KENNEDY and WILLOW all dressed-up.
KENNEDY
I thought you said they'd meet us here?
WILLOW
I did.
KENNEDY
I know, fifteen minutes ago.
WILLOW
I know.
Pause
KENNEDY
I'm freezing.
WILLOW
Want me to warm you up?
KENNEDY
As much as I'd love that, I'd much rather warm up on the dance floor.
WILLOW
They'll be here.
KENNEDY
I'm just dieing to see the clubs, which one are we going we to?
WILLOW
Xander said, we'd decide once we got there.
KENNEDY
Well, my vote goes to the Pink Panther.
WILLOW
Sorry Hun, that one's not on the ballot.
KENNEDY
Maybe that guy knows which ones are.
She starts to walk over to XANDER, BUFFY and DAWN, who (we see now) just walked into the street.
30 EXT. STREET - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KENNEDY, WILLOW, BUFFY, XANDER, DAWN walking next to each others across the whole width of the street.
WILLOW
So, Dawnie, did you say you knew what all the clubs were like?
DAWN
Silverdust, rock and alternative, very Bronze-like. The Golden Bolt is more of a dance place, lots of R&B and stuff. That's what I've been told.
KENNEDY
I say Golden Bolt, 'cause I feel like dancin'.
WILLOW
I don't know; I wouldn't mind a slower start. Silverdust for me.
BUFFY
On one hand, you're right, but then we DO have something to celebrate. Then again, we could just as easily do it at the Silverdust; I'll have that one then!
They turn around the corner and walk onto a square around which all the clubs are built, as well as four café's. They look around at the buildings.
XANDER
So what's it's gonna be, it's just you and me left to vote now, Dawn.
DAWN
I dunno.
She looks from one club to the other and back again.
DAWN
You know, I think I have the Friday night fever.
BUFFY
Ok, well that's a tie then, so what's it gonna be Xander.
XANDER
I think your fever is contagious, 'cause it has infected me, Dawnie.
31 INT. THE GOLDEN BOLT - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: Entrance. KENNEDY walks in, followed by WILLOW, then DAWN, then XANDER and finally BUFFY.
CAMERA ON: The Golden Bolt interior.
They move over to a table.
XANDER
Okays, first drink's on me, what do y'all need?
The sounds mutes, the music continues. ZOOM OUT: To see the whole place. Lot's of people, drinking, dancing, laughing having fun. ANGLE changes a few times, to see different views of the Scoobies from up-close doing the same.
32 INT. THE GOLDEN BOLT - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: BUFFY standing there all alone at her table, a guy walks up at her.
DANNY
Hi, I'm Danny.
He holds out his hand, she shakes it.
BUFFY (sceptical)
Buffy.
DANNY
I'm also study psychology. Don't think we've met before. ... Which is pretty obvious; since you're all new, and I'm in a different year. What do you say; can I get a chance to do this all over?
BUFFY
No, it's fine, I've seen worse.
DANNY
Anyway, a few of us, students, hang out back of this club. Thought you might like to get to know us.
BUFFY
Sure, I'll just let my friends know where I am, just a sec.
She walks over to KENNEDY, who's closest by, whispers something in hear ear, KENNEDY nods, then she goes away with DANNY.
33 EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The back door opens, BUFFY and DANNY walk out, there's a group of people there, they see BUFFY and split up, circle around her.
BUFFY
Oh god ... they never learn.
DANNY walks over to the leader of the group.
DANNY
I got you your girl, where's my ten bucks?"
The leader (JACK) looks at him, then vampfaces.
JACK
In hell!
DANNY
Dude, you're face is so-o-o screwed up.
JACK (startled)
Come again?
DANNY (detested)
You're face is all ... ugly.
JACK
Hello!?!? I'm Jack the Devil, the Fear of Edmonsville.
DANNY
Oh, right ... so where did you say the 10 bucks were?
JACK (furious)
In hell!!!
He snaps DANNY's neck.
JACK sighs
Well that's certainly feels better, so euhm ... don't think I properly introduced myself, I am Jack the De-
BUFFY
vil, Fear of Edmonsville. You already said.
JACK

BUFFY
Yes, I couldn't have made up that lame name myself, could I?
JACK

BUFFY

JACK

BUFFY (plays it over-innocent)
I may be the slayer, but I haven't been causing trouble, sir.
JACK

BIG DUMB VAMP
Yeah and we saw your picture on the internet.
JACK
Shut up!
BUFFY
Ok, you got my, I'm a slayer, but I retired, so it wasn't me.
JACK
Oh, really, 'cause I was told the slayer was responsible for killing my men, who then do you suppose killed them?
BUFFY
Another slayer.
Notices their surprised looks.
What, didn't you get the memo? I shared my powers; there are now about a thousand slayers.
They look scared.
JACK
Hahaha! Very good one, you almost got me there. She's just saying that to get us scared.
KENNEDY (appears from behind him)
Excuse me.
JACK
I don't think you belong here, best get out of her girlie.
KENNEDY
Well I would love to, but you said you wanted to fight the slayer, so here I am.
JACK
You're not the slayer, she is, you're just a girl.
KENNEDY
No, I'm a slayer, she's a retired slayer, she's just a girl. It's me you gotta be takin' into account.
The backdoor opens again, WILLOW, XANDER and DAWN walk out.
WILLOW
Hope I'm not interrupting, am I?
JACK (surprised)
Who are those people?
KENNEDY
You brought your friends along, so I did the same, hope you don't mind.
JACK (angry)
Oh I don't mind, I'll kill 'em all, let's get 'em guys.
He turns around, to see the guys all doubting and two of them already backing of into another alley. Suddenly bricks start falling out of the air and build up a wall onto which they stumble, they look around to see it, look back scared at WILLOW.
CAMERA ON: WILLOW, white haired, floating in the air, she grins.
JACK (furious)
GET THEM!
Two of the vamps charge at KENNEDY, the BIG DUMB VAMP at XANDER, one vamp at DAWN and JACK at BUFFY.
CAMERA ON: KENNEDY. The first vamps tries to punch her, but she ducks and kicks him full in the stomach. Then the other swings at her from the side, she ducks it to. Then throws herself at the first one, who's standing again, with her feet and at the same time, she twists the others neck. The second one walks around with his neck turned around. She stakes the first one.
CAMERA ON: XANDER, he's punching the BIG DUMB VAMP. But he doesn't even seem to feel it. WILLOW moves XANDER to the side, then moves her fist swiftly forward and holds it still an inch away from the BIG DUMB VAMP. He gives her a strange look, she smiles back at him. The opens her first, which sends him flying across the alley and makes him crash into the brick wall.
CAMERA ON: DAWN, being attacked by a vamp, she backs away from him which each of us swing.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY constantly backing a way from JACK, continuously ducking his blows at the very last moment.
BUFFY
How many times do I have to say you, I'm retired, I don't do this any more, and if I were, you'd be dust by now.
A vamp with his head facing the wrong side crosses them.
JACK (furious)
I will get you!!
BUFFY's now almost backed against the wall and she looks aside at DAWN, who is backed against the wall.
BUFFY
Dawn!!
DAWN looks up and BUFFY throws her stake at DAWN, who stakes the vamp attacking her. Then BUFFY ducks, as JACK swings, he hits the wall instead.
JACK (whining)
Ouch! Godda-... I will get you, ooow!
KENNEDY walks up from behind him and imitates his whining face. BUFFY and DAWN laugh.
JACK (angry, still in pain)
What!?!?!
KENNEDY imitates him again. BUFFY and DAWN laugh even harder. JACK turns around to see KENNEDY and takes fright of her; she stakes him and then waves her hand at him, as he dusts.
KENNEDY
Buh-bye!
KENNEDY, BUFFY, DAWN, WILLOW and XANDER come together.
KENNEDY
Does anyone still wanna go in, 'cause I personally had enough sweat for the night?
They're all silent and with their silence, make it clear they agree.
34 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: WILLOW, KENNEDY, XANDER, BUFFY and DAWN all sitting there chatting, some music channels is on, pop corn and drinks on the table.
WILLOW
-so, this guy’s like, no that's not me, that was the guy who just left.
KENNEDY laughs, but XANDER and BUFFY look puzzled.
DAWN stands up and walks over to the kitchen.
WILLOW
Ohhh, this clip, I just love this clip.
XANDER
Which one is it?
WILLOW

BUFFY stands up.
BUFFY
White flags! And that guy, he's gorgeous.
She goes to the kitchen as well.

CAMERA ON: DAWN's pouring a drink, BUFFY walks in, DAWN makes a move toward the door, to avoid, contact.

Oh no, you don't.

We need to have that talk again.
DAWN

BUFFY
Didn't I tell you, you were not supposed to do slaying?
DAWN (looks down, ashamed)
Yes.
BUFFY
Well ... I euhm ... changed my mind.
DAWN (stunned)
... you ... what?
BUFFY
You were right ... I was being a hypocrite. But you have to see, I just wanted to protect you.
DAWN (startled)
Oh my god ... that's.
BUFFY
There's just one thing, which is, you're the weakest one of them. You can only patrol if-
DAWN
I should've know, well let's hear it.
BUFFY
You promise to let me train you.
DAWN (surprised)
Are you kidding? Off course I will, that's just so-o-o wild!!!
BUFFY
Well I'm glad you think about it this way, but I promise you, I'm not easy.
DAWN
So, does this like mean, you will be going to slay again?
BUFFY
No-no-no! I'll just train you, apart from that, I'm just a girl.

CAMERA ON: Bringers have made their way to the fight and are attacking Andrew. Anya fights them off, but there are too many. While she stabs one with her sword, another slices diagonally though her torso from behind, killing her.

37 INT. HELLMOUTH - DAY
CAMERA ON: Spike gasps and stumbles backward away from the fight as he clutches his chest, then his burned hand.
SPIKE
Oh, bollocks.
A bright blue light shoots up from the amulet, knocking a hole in the ceiling, going up through the floor of the Principal's office past Willow and through to the open sky. The light turns a warm orange color.
CUT TO:
41 INT. HELLMOUTH - DAY
CAMERA ON: BUFFY and SPIKE, holding hands.
BUFFY
(softly, looks into his eyes) I love you.
SPIKE
No, you don't. But thanks for saying it.
There's another earthquake; Buffy lets go of his hand.
SPIKE
Now go!
Buffy runs up the stairs.
SPIKE
I wanna see how it ends.
CUT TO:
45 INT.HELLMOUTH - DAY
CAMERA ON: Spike stands in the crumbling hellmouth with light shining down on him from above, grinning from ear to ear and laughing as he burns up from the sunlight. He dusts slowly—first his skin singes, then his muscles, then his bones—then he's gone. The hellmouth crumbles in around him.
CUT TO:
49 EXT. SCHOOL BUS - DAY
CAMERA ON: Buffy is still staring at the canyon that once was Sunnydale. Dawn stands beside her, then Giles joins them, as do Xander, Willow, and Faith.
FAITH
Looks like the hellmouth is officially closed for business.

FAITH
Yeah, you're not the one and only chosen anymore. Just gotta live like a person. How's that feel?
DAWN
Yeah, Buffy. What are we gonna do now?
As the others chatter around her, Buffy just stares straight ahead at the hole formerly known as Sunnydale. As she contemplates what's next, she smiles.

CAMERA ON: A lady behind the counter, typing something, then looking up at the person on the other side.
(Subt.)
Emergency Center near the former town of Sunnydale, 3 weeks later.
LADY
Yes, well it seems that you have filled out everything properly, your insurance company will pay you within seven working days and the government support will be paid out at the end of the month.
MAN
Thank you.
LADY
No problem, next please.
CAMERA ON: the man, he steps away from the queue, the next in the line, steps into focus, it's Buffy.
LADY
Hello ma'am.
BUFFY
Hi, I euhm wanted to report, that I'm leaving.
LADY
I see. Have you filled out all of the forms?
Buffy hands her a few papers.
LADY
I need to check these, off course; it'll just take a minute.
The lady puts one of the papers in the scanner, then checks her computer, and types something on it.

BUFFY

CAMERA ON: Buffy walking through rows of mattresses on which people, who lost their homes in Sunnydale, sleep. A lot of them are already up. She reaches Dawn and Xander.
DAWN
So, how did it go?
BUFFY
Pretty ok, we'll have all the money by the end of the month and we're free to go now.
DAWN
Oh, that's great news! I can't wait to get out of here. How soon did you say we will leave?
XANDER
I think we can leave today, I know we won't get the house until tomorrow 11am, but we can just go up there and go to a motel instead of staying here for another night.
BUFFY
Don't get her hopes up; you know I can't afford that!
XANDER
But I can. Look Buff, don't worry 'bout the money, I'll take care of it.
Buffy hugs Xander.
BUFFY
You're really too good.
CAMERA MOVES to reveal Willow and Kennedy both in their nightgowns standing behind Buffy. Xander releases Buffy.
BUFFY
Finally you're awake, you'd better get dressed, there's a long line in front of that office.
WILLOW
I know, but guess what?
BUFFY
What?
WILLOW
Last night I got the call, we got the dorm, so we had to celebrate, that's why we're up this late you see.
BUFFY
Oh, you guys that's great ... you don't mean, like celebrate as in ... you know, I mean there are people?
Willow looks at Dawn.
WILLOW
Best not get in detail. There's just one problem, we can only move in at the end of this month, so we were wondering whether we could...
Buffy looks at Xander. He nods.
BUFFY
Sure, you can as long as you help with the fixing of the place. Oh and we're leaving in an hour or two, so you'd better hurry.
WILLOW
I'm already gone.
3 INT. BUS - DAY
PAN ACROSS the bus from the driver across all seats to the back of the bus. Kennedy, Willow, Xander, Dawn and Buffy are sitting there. They're talking, but we can't hear them, we just hear music
PAN IN: on Buffy, who is sitting there, motionlessly, looking out of the window, toward where one day Sunnydale was, where all we can see now is a huge cloud of dust and a huge crater.
The bus starts, the music stops, and we hear the voices.
WILLOW
Yeah I know that's just so...
BUFFY (mumbling)
I think we're moving.
KENNEDY
Finally, I was tired of waiting.
WILLOW
Oh, this is so exciting, finally!
DAWN
Hey, I know ... let's all sing a song!
Notices all the looks.
Or perhaps not.
KENNEDY

BUFFY

ZOOM IN on a house on the cliff side, that looks out over the sea. We stop zooming, when we reach the front door. Suddenly it opens, and Buffy picks up the paper from the steps. She goes in again and closes the door behind her.
6 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - DAY
DAWN is there, eating breakfast, as Buffy walks in with the paper and Xander with his bathrobes on.
XANDER
Good morning all.
DAWN (with a full mouth)
Grrmhblah.
BUFFY
Right, I meant to say that. What are you doing still wearing those, didn't you say you had a meeting with the bank?
XANDER
I did, but that's not until 11 o'clock, so I thought I'd stay in bed long, make sure I'm well rested and all, but for a second there I forgot that I live in the same house as the two of you.
DAWN
We woke you up? Ah, poor Xander, sorry 'bout that.
XANDER
So, Dawnie, big day for you as well.
DAWN shrugs.
DAWN
I guess.
BUFFY
Well, this is not the start of any year, it's your last one, at least I hope so, plus it's a whole new school.
DAWN
I know, but this time, it's not build on the hellmouth, so I figured it'd be lots easier.
BUFFY
Well you'd think.
DAWN
So, I mean, seeing that it's easy and all, I also figured, that homework, won't really do me any good either.
BUFFY
Nice try, now let's get you going, don't wanna be late, all ready?
DAWN
Ready as I'll ever be.
BUFFY
That ought to do, see you later Xander, take care.
XANDER
I will. Good luck, both of you!
7 INT. WILLOW AND KENNEDY'S DORM - DAY
CAMERA MOVES around to see all sorts of magical items lying around and clothes scattered around the room. We move to see Kennedy and Willow still in bed in each other's arms. Willow slowly opens her eyes and reaches out for her alarm clock to take a look at the time. We see the expression on her face change. She throws the alarm clock away and pushes Kennedy.
WILLOW
Ken, wake up, we're gonna be late.
KENNEDY
What?
WILLOW
Ceremonial opening of the year starts in 20 minutes.
KENNEDY
Nobody ever goes there, I'll skip it.
WILLOW
Freshmen have to be there.
KENNEDY
Damn. I told you, college isn't my thing.
WILLOW
Just hurry up.
They both get up.
8 INT. AUDITORIUM - DAY
The hall is filled with people listening to the Vice-Chancellor.
VICE-CHANCELLOR
... and so, I'm just going to wish you, both freshmen and other year's students, but also the teaching staff and other staff members, the best of luck!

9 INT. AUDITORIUM - DAY
Everyone is walking off in different directions. As are Willow and Buffy.
WILLOW
Wouldn't have guessed you'd come to this sort of thing.
BUFFY
Well I was just early for my first class, so I just popped in for the "good lucks", 'cause I'll need 'em.
WILLOW
I reckon you do, you have a lot of catching up to do, well here's my exit, I'll see you around, oh and don't forget, Friday night, we go out.
Willow walks into a classroom and leaves Buffy behind.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY standing there all alone in the middle of the crowded hall, but she smiles, and walks off.
10 INT. LUNCH ROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN from behind, walking into the lunch room with her plate, she looks around the room, first at a table with cheerleaders and jocks, then at one with Goths, then one with nerds.
LUX (O.S.)
I know what, you're thinking, but yes, there are actually normal people around in this school, but we tend to hide ourselves, you never know, they might be contagious.
DAWN turns around.
DAWN
Hi, I'm Dawn.
LUX
I know who you are; you're in my English class, right?
Notices Dawn's puzzled face.
Oh, right, I'm Lux. Sorry, but I won't shake hands with you.
Dawn gives her a look.
I'm quite clumsy and if I try and hold my plate in one hand, while shaking your hand with my other, the food is bound to go skydiving, and I'm hungry. So, looking for a place to stay, why don't you come sit with me?
DAWN (puzzled)
Sure.
They walk of chatting.
11 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE HALL - DAY
CAMERA ON: the door opens, Buffy walks in. Drops her bags, then sniffs a few times and then goes for the kitchen.
12 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - DAY (cont'd)
CAMERA ON: Buffy's face, mouth open, stunned.
CAMERA TURNS AROUND: to see Xander (with Chef-hat on) cooking something. The whole kitchen is a mess.
XANDER
Oh, hi Buffy.
Xander looks down again and flips a page.
BUFFY
What ... are you doing?
XANDER
I'm euhm ... well look around and take a guess.
BUFFY
You're cooking.
XANDER
Jackpot.
BUFFY
I know, what it is, that you're doing, but why? Since when do you...?
XANDER
Cook? Since, I'm in this extremely good mood.
BUFFY
I take it your meeting went very well.
XANDER
It was ok. But the thing is, I had parked my car near the beach on that parking lot next to the supermarket. And when I walked back to my car, I overheard these two guys talking about how difficult it was going to be, to build the new docs there. So I thought, let's make friends in the new neighbourhood, and offered my services.
BUFFY (laughing)
I'm sure you did, so what did they say?
XANDER
Well they explained that having the nearest construction company at 25 miles away wasn't very practical. So I hinted at this other new company in town, Harris and Co. and this afternoon I got phone call, whether I'd be willing to have lunch with one of their executives.
BUFFY
Oh my god, that's wonderful news.
Buffy hugs Xander.
XANDER
I know, but the hardest part is yet to come.
BUFFY
That meeting.
XANDER
No, making this receipt, like remotely like what it looks in the book.

13 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE DINING ROOM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: the table with lots of food on it, KENNEDY and WILLOW sitting next to each other on one side, BUFFY and DAWN on the other. XANDER walks in with a big plate, puts it down in the middle, then sits at the end of the table. He picks up his glass and stands up again.
XANDER
Everybody, I would like to propose a toast to us, and our future, that we may live a happy life, wherever we go to!
Buffy raises her glass.
BUFFY
Amen to that!
They all toast. After this, they start to eat (for the rest of the scene, who doesn't speak, eats).
XANDER
So how was everyone’s first day?
DAWN
Mine was ok; I think I made my first normal friend.
BUFFY
That's good ... you ... go you!
KENNEDY
Oh my god you guys, we went on the introduction and we got to see the marine labs, those are like huge.
WILLOW
Well I got to take a scoop around the library, it's pretty impressive, and I bet Giles would be stinking jealous.
XANDER
Talking about Giles, how is he holding up in England?
BUFFY
I don’t know, last time I spoke to him, he was fine, but that was two weeks ago. He was really busy and all with the Watcher's Council. He's trying to recruit new watcher, because there are not enough of them for all the slayers. So he can only send out watchers to those who need them most, which he told, means you're last on the list Kennedy, 'cause you have us.
KENNEDY
That's ok; I can take care of myself.
BUFFY
Oh boy, you're in for a treat.
WILLOW
Well, as we're into slayer stuff now anyway, I have another thing I've been meaning to discuss with you; patrolling. We need to set up a schedule of some kind of who patrols where and when.
XANDER
I guess.
WILLOW
You sure, you're not in for this?
BUFFY
Definatly.
WILLOW
How about you Dawnie?
DAWN takes a vicious look at BUFFY.
DAWN
No thanks.
WILLOW
But I thought you said-
DAWN
-I know, sorry.
DAWN is still looking at BUFFY.
WILLOW takes notice.
WILLOW
Oh, I see! Xander how about you?
XANDER
I wonder why you even bother asking.
KENNEDY looks puzzled.
WILLOW
That's a yes!
14 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: the room, messy, XANDER cleaning up. BUFFY in her nightgown.
BUFFY
Thanks Xander, for not having me help you clean up.
XANDER
I made the mess in the first place, and I'm off all day tomorrow, so now worries.
BUFFY
Well I'm going to bed then, g'night.
XANDER
Night!
BUFFY walks off, yawning.
15 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE HALLWAY - NIGHT (cont'd)
BUFFY walks into the hallway. DAWN is standing there, arms crossed.
BUFFY sighs.
BUFFY
Please, Dawn, we've been through this.
DAWN
Well apparently not enough.
BUFFY
At least not now, I'm tired, gimme a break.
DAWN
We'll have this conversation any where, any time, until you make up your mind.
BUFFY walks into her room. DAWN follows.
16 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE BUFFY'S ROOM - NIGHT
BUFFY
I have, believe me I have.
DAWN
Well ... that's just ... not your right mind.
BUFFY
Yes it is, now will you let it go.
DAWN
NO! Because it's not fair.
BUFFY
I'm just looking out for you Dawn, that's all. Can't you see I just want the best for you? I don't want you to have the life I had.
DAWN
Well maybe I DO!
BUFFY
You don't know what it's like.
DAWN
And this way, I'll never find out, will I? You always said it yourself; the worse thing 'bout being the slayer is never having a choice. Well now you're not giving me any.
DAWN shakes her head in disapproval,

She walks out and slams the door behind her.
BUFFY sighs, then drops herself onto her bed.
17 INT. WILLOW AND KENNEDY'S DORM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: WILLOW’s busy with some sort of magical orb, we see KENNEDY's back, she undressing.
KENNEDY walks over to WILLOW, who holds her hands 20 inches from each other, then closes her eyes. A magical sphere grows between her hands. Then she opens her eyes again, stretches her arms, until the sphere touches the orb. The sphere then starts to shrink and the orb is filled with the same colour the sphere had. The colour in the orb slowly fades.
KENNEDY
What are you doing?
WILLOW closes her eyes again.
WILLOW
Channelling magical energy within me into a sphere of pure magical energy.
She does so.
WILLOW
And then let this orb absorb it.
She does o.
KENNEDY puts her arms around WILLOW's waist from behind.
KENNEDY
What's the use of it?
WILLOW
Well, I produce all this energy, but I can only hold a limited amount of it, and this orb can hold an infinite amount of pure magical energy. So by filling it, I can build up a spare. I case I might ever need a quick re-fill.
KENNEDY
I see, very clever.
WILLOW stands up.
WILLOW
Plus channelling pure energy is very hard, so it makes a great exercise.
KENNEDY stands up as well.
KENNEDY
Talking about it, I think it's time for my training.
WILLOW
What now? It's nearly midnight.
KENNEDY
Exactly, that's why!
WILLOW
What's why? I'm not following you, Ken, what do you wanna train at this hour?
KENNEDY
Well I was thinking we'd start out with the lips, and if I'm good enough, we could go on to the hips as well.
WILLOW smiles and they kiss.
18 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN finishing up on breakfast, BUFFY still in the middle of hers, XANDER entering the room.
BUFFY
Hi Xander!
DAWN
Hi Xander!
XANDER
Hi both!
He walks to the fridge and pours a glass of orange juice.
XANDER
You're both awfully quiet today.
Neither of them replies, they all eat. Suddenly DAWN rises.
DAWN
I got to get to school, see ya Xan.
XANDER
See ya!
DAWN takes a vicious look at BUFFY then walks off.
XANDER
Mind telling me what that was all about?
BUFFY (looking down at her plate, muttering)
Nothing.
XANDER
Well, it sure looks as if Dawn makes an awfully big something out of this nothing of yours.
BUFFY sighs
We had a fight last night.
XANDER
Makes sense, 'bout patrolling.
BUFFY sarcastic
How did you guess?
XANDER
I had an eye for these kinds of things. So are you gonna tell me or do I have to ask for it?
BUFFY
She thinks I'm a hypocrite.
XANDER
That's a new one.
BUFFY
And she's got a point with it.
XANDER
How's that?
BUFFY
She reminded me, that I felt the worse part 'bout being the slayer was never having a choice. Now she says I'm a hypocrite, because I'm not offering her any, and the worse part is; she has a point.
XANDER
Hmm, well as much as I hate to say this, I think she does too.
BUFFY faintly smiling
Thanks for the moral support there Xander. But still she's in danger, even with you and the others watching over her, looking after her, she's the weakest and she's my responsibility.
XANDER
Buffy, when we moved here, when you quit being the slayer, you said that you didn't want to live your life in service of the whole world, that for once you wanted to live your life, nor for others, but for yourself. So why are you trying to live your life in service of Dawn now? She's a grown girl, she can take care of herself, and at time, when she doesn't, you're not the only one, who's there to help her. I'm here, Willow and Kennedy are here, and there's a whole world full of other people who will help her. It doesn't always have to be you, not with slaying, not with Dawn. You're not the only chosen one anymore, and you're not, nor have you ever been, the only one loving Dawn, looking after her, keeping her save. We go hand in hand, remember.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY nodding quietly.
19 EXT. SCHOOLYARD - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN and LUX sitting on a bench, eating lunch.
LUX
Oh and that's Kevin, he's way hot, but a real a-class jerk, so I wouldn't try if I were you.
Looks at DAWN.
Are you even listening?
DAWN
What? I'm sorry; I'm not entirely here with my mind.
She yawns.
LUX
Bad night?
DAWN
I had a fight at home.
LUX shakes her head.
LUX
My parents divorced three years ago, so I know what it is. Who was it with, mother, father or worse, both?
DAWN
No, even worse ... sister.
LUX
I wish I had a sister.
DAWN
I wish I had parents.
LUX (startled)
What do you mean?
DAWN
My parents divorced when I was little, I haven't had contact with my father in the last five years.
LUX
And you're mom?
DAWN
She died of a brain tumour two and a half year ago.
LUX
Oh, I'm sorry; I'm so-o-o sorry.
DAWN
It's ok, you couldn't have know, besides I've accepted it.
LUX
So now what, you live with your sister?
DAWN
At first yes, then she left and Willow, her best friend and Willow's lesbian lover, then she came back, and Tara, the Willow's lover left, then, she came back, but then she died. Soon after that Willow left for England. After that Spike came with us. That was my sister's ex. Then Willow came back, then Andrew came in, he's a friend. ... Well more or less anyway, then Giles came, with a whole bunch of girls, and the last have year, the house was packed with like a hundred girls. Oh and Faith, and old friend or should I say enemy of my sister came in to. And that was it, then the place got blown up.
DAWN looks at the open-mouthed LUX, who's entirely paralysed.
DAWN
And now it's just me and my sis, and Xander, her best friend.
LUX (startled)
Ok ... I euhm ... see. So what was this fight about?
DAWN
Oh, the fight, well ... see ... there's this job I want, but she won't let me have it.
LUX
Oh, I see, had that same conflict two years ago, tricky one.
LUX pauses.
LUX
What job?
The bell rings.
LUX
We'll talk later, I got to run, see you!
DAWN (mumbling)

CAMERA ON: the classroom filled with bored students, a professor in front of them.
PROFESSOR
Ok, next week, we'll discuss the first chapter, which will go in-depth to what exactly conflict is. Don't worry, it's only 69 pages, so we'll start slow, you may leave now.
The students walk out of the room, BUFFY walks up to the PROFESSOR.
BUFFY
Euhm, excuse me, professor.
PROFESSOR
Yes?
BUFFY
I wanted to ask-
PROFESSOR
-excuse me.
The PROFESSOR walks of to another man, who has just entered the empty class room.
PROFESSOR
Ah, Peter, it's good that you're finally here. I take it, you've got my message?
PETER
Yes, I have, but what do you want me to do about it?
PROFESSOR
Well, I don't know either, if I did, I would have solved it myself, but I do know, that it's not my responsibility, now is it?
PETER
No, indeed not. By that I take it you mean it's mine.
PROFESSOR
How percept-
BUFFY clears her throat. They both look at her.
PROFESSOR
As you may see, I'm busy at the moment young lady, you'll have to wait.
BUFFY
But I've got another class to catch.
PETER
Who's class?
BUFFY
Professor Hemmingway.
PETER
Don't worry then, he's gonna run late today.
BUFFY sits down on the front row as the PROFESSOR and PETER continue their conversation.
We see a few more shots of BUFFY, from different angles, fading into one another.

CAMERA ON: the PROFESSOR and PETER parting. PETER leaving, the PROFESSOR stepping toward BUFFY.
PROFESSOR
Now what was it you wanted from me young miss.
BUFFY
Well, I'm new and I was told that you keep a book with all the notes of previous years, so I wondered whether I could borrow it?
PROFESSOR
No.
BUFFY (stunned and angry)
What? ... What do you mean? ... NO!?!?
PROFESSOR
I will make a copy of it, and you can come and collect that tomorrow.
BUFFY (shameful)
Oh, right, thank you.
PROFESSOR
And just a word of advice; I'd watch that temper of yours, miss.
BUFFY (embarrassed)

She quickly leaves.

CAMERA ON: BUFFY leaving the classroom, PETER standing there, with a coffee.
PETER
Well now that's what a call a quickly!
BUFFY (agitated)
Excuse me?
PETER
Never mind. You'd best hurry to your next class. That Hemmingway is the head of the psychology department; you don't wanna be late and make a bad first impression.
BUFFY
Well, I don't think that's possible anymore, thank you very much!
PETER

CAMERA ON: WILLOW sitting in the library, KENNEDY comes up from behind her and puts her hands on WILLOW's shoulders. WILLOW turns to face KENNEDY.

She gives KENNEDY a kiss. KENNEDY sits down next to her.
KENNEDY
Hi! What are you doing?
WILLOW
Research, I'm looking into this town's history.
KENNEDY
Found anything of interest?
WILLOW
Oh plenty, well not as much as in Sunnydale, and most of it isn't very recent. There are quiet a few stories in her that we could investigate.
KENNEDY
Like?
WILLOW
Well in the sixties, the psychiatrically ward was overrun by people, who suffered from delusion, cause of it, remains yet unknown.
KENNEDY

24 INT. COLLEGE CLASS ROOM - DAY
CAMERA ON: BUFFY walking in, everybody's chatting; the professor is clearly not there yet.
BUFFY sits down next to a girl.
SARAH
You're lucky; Professor Hemmingway is never late normally. ... I'm Sarah.
BUFFY
I'm Buffy.
CAMERA ON: With a big slam, the door swings open. Everybody's quiet. PETER walks to the front of the class.
PETER
I assume most of you already know me, I'm the head of the psychology department, and I'll be your professor for psychological disorders this year, my name is Professor Hemmingway.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY'S face, shocked.
BUFFY (whispering)
He's Professor Hemmingway?
SARAH
I know, he looks way too cute to be a professor, right?
PROFESSOR HEMMINGWAY
I know I'm late. I'm sorry for it, but some idiot almost ran over an old lady carrying her groceries. She was so scared she dropped it all. As you may understand I felt obligated to stop and help the poor woman.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY's face, even more shocked and furious.
SARAH
Isn't he the sweetest?
CAMERA ON: PROFESSOR HEMMINGWAY
PROFESSOR HEMMINGWAY
Now let's move on, everybody grab your books.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY still starring at him, wide-eyed, everyone around her grabbing their books.
CAMERA ON: PROFESSOR HEMMINGWAY, looking up at BUFFY, he winks.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY, completely startled.
25 EXT. SUMMER's RESIDENCE FRONT - DAY
CAMERA ON: BUFFY walking up to the front door, WILLOW and KENNEDY are sitting there. She looks surprised at them.
BUFFY
What are you two doing here?
WILLOW
We wanted to see how Xander did, but he's not in yet, so we thought we'd to wait for you.
BUFFY
So I see.
She opens the door and they go in.
26 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE HALL - DAY (cont'd)
They take of their coats and hang 'em up.
BUFFY
So how long have you been waiting here?
WILLOW
I'd say about thirty minutes, right?
KENNEDY
Little longer perhaps.
They enter the living room.
27 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE LIVING ROOM - DAY (cont'd)
They all sit down on the couches.
BUFFY
It's odd, that he isn't here; he could have been back ages ago.
KENNEDY
Maybe he was, but went out again for shopping or something.
BUFFY
Maybe, though he always claims, he's too masculine to do shopping.
They hear the front door open and close, so they all turn to see the door to the hall.
It swings open, DAWN's there.
DAWN
Hi guys, what are y'all looking at?
WILLOW
Xander.
DAWN
Well he's not here; I brought home a Lux instead.
DAWN moves away to reveal LUX standing behind her.
LUX
Hi everyone!
DAWN
Ok, that's my sister Buffy!
BUFFY
How do you do?
DAWN
That's a friend of ours, Willow.
WILLOW
Nice to meet you!
DAWN
And that's her lover, Kennedy.
KENNEDY
Hi!
DAWN
Ok, so now you've met the horrors I have to live with. Buffy, Lux invited me over for dinner, can I-
BUFFY
Have fun!
DAWN (surprised)
... will do!
They go to the hall, the others turn back again. We hear the front door open and close again. Suddenly Xander walks in.
XANDER
It's good to see Dawn's already making new friends, isn't it?
They all turn around.
BUFFY
Xander?
XANDER
Except on Friday nights, then I go by the name of Alison.
WILLOW
So, how did it go?
XANDER grins
XANDER
Well this morning, they explained me the exact plans and so forth, and they asked me whether I thought I'd be able to do it. So I asked them a little time, to ask my suppliers and to see if the employees were available. So I stepped out for a few hours, making gazillion phone-calls all round the place. And well, I got everything round, though we still have a problem with the workers, cause I have to little in my database, so I'll have to search for more, maybe expand my territory of search, there's some neighbouring town's that I haven't had the time for to visit during the summer, so I'll go there. But as I was saying most of it got round, so I went back in and we both singed a provisionary contract.
WILLOW
Wow, I think this is cause for a celebration.
XANDER
Yeah, but not now, tomorrow night, when Dawn's in as well. Right now I just wanna eat, 'cause we had so much to discuss that we didn't get to lunch at all.

ACT IV
28 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE KITCHEN - DAY
CAMERA ON: DAWN enters; XANDER turns around with a pan in his hand.
XANDER
Pancake?
DAWN
Yummies, so the meeting went well, by the smell of things!
XANDER
Suppose you could say that. I've promised the others that we'll all go out tonight. I was hoping you'd join, unless off course, you have other plans?
DAWN
Oh no I'd love to come, that is, IF my sister will let me.
XANDER
I'm sure she will. She just has trouble letting go, give her time, it'll pass.
DAWN
I sure hope so. Where were you planning on taking us?
XANDER
I don't know; what choice do we have?
DAWN
Yeah, unlike Sunnydale. There are off course a few of the usual café's, where grumpy old men and the fishers join up to talk about the bad weather. And then there are three clubs. First one the Pink Panther, but although Kennedy and Willow will enjoy themselves there, I think we're a little to straight for the place. Then there's Silverdust, which is much like the Bronze, mostly rock and alternative. And there's the swing palace, the Golden Bolt, which is basically lots of sweating people moving on R&B rhythms.
XANDER
Though one.
DAWN
There's also a strip-joint just out of town!
XANDER
Did I say though?
Pauses.
I'll think about it, I'll let you know.
29 EXT. STREET - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KENNEDY and WILLOW all dressed-up.
KENNEDY
I thought you said they'd meet us here?
WILLOW
I did.
KENNEDY
I know, fifteen minutes ago.
WILLOW
I know.
Pause
KENNEDY
I'm freezing.
WILLOW
Want me to warm you up?
KENNEDY
As much as I'd love that, I'd much rather warm up on the dance floor.
WILLOW
They'll be here.
KENNEDY
I'm just dieing to see the clubs, which one are we going we to?
WILLOW
Xander said, we'd decide once we got there.
KENNEDY
Well, my vote goes to the Pink Panther.
WILLOW
Sorry Hun, that one's not on the ballot.
KENNEDY
Maybe that guy knows which ones are.
She starts to walk over to XANDER, BUFFY and DAWN, who (we see now) just walked into the street.
30 EXT. STREET - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: KENNEDY, WILLOW, BUFFY, XANDER, DAWN walking next to each others across the whole width of the street.
WILLOW
So, Dawnie, did you say you knew what all the clubs were like?
DAWN
Silverdust, rock and alternative, very Bronze-like. The Golden Bolt is more of a dance place, lots of R&B and stuff. That's what I've been told.
KENNEDY
I say Golden Bolt, 'cause I feel like dancin'.
WILLOW
I don't know; I wouldn't mind a slower start. Silverdust for me.
BUFFY
On one hand, you're right, but then we DO have something to celebrate. Then again, we could just as easily do it at the Silverdust; I'll have that one then!
They turn around the corner and walk onto a square around which all the clubs are built, as well as four café's. They look around at the buildings.
XANDER
So what's it's gonna be, it's just you and me left to vote now, Dawn.
DAWN
I dunno.
She looks from one club to the other and back again.
DAWN
You know, I think I have the Friday night fever.
BUFFY
Ok, well that's a tie then, so what's it gonna be Xander.
XANDER
I think your fever is contagious, 'cause it has infected me, Dawnie.
31 INT. THE GOLDEN BOLT - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: Entrance. KENNEDY walks in, followed by WILLOW, then DAWN, then XANDER and finally BUFFY.
CAMERA ON: The Golden Bolt interior.
They move over to a table.
XANDER
Okays, first drink's on me, what do y'all need?
The sounds mutes, the music continues. ZOOM OUT: To see the whole place. Lot's of people, drinking, dancing, laughing having fun. ANGLE changes a few times, to see different views of the Scoobies from up-close doing the same.
32 INT. THE GOLDEN BOLT - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: BUFFY standing there all alone at her table, a guy walks up at her.
DANNY
Hi, I'm Danny.
He holds out his hand, she shakes it.
BUFFY (sceptical)
Buffy.
DANNY
I'm also study psychology. Don't think we've met before. ... Which is pretty obvious; since you're all new, and I'm in a different year. What do you say; can I get a chance to do this all over?
BUFFY
No, it's fine, I've seen worse.
DANNY
Anyway, a few of us, students, hang out back of this club. Thought you might like to get to know us.
BUFFY
Sure, I'll just let my friends know where I am, just a sec.
She walks over to KENNEDY, who's closest by, whispers something in hear ear, KENNEDY nods, then she goes away with DANNY.
33 EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: The back door opens, BUFFY and DANNY walk out, there's a group of people there, they see BUFFY and split up, circle around her.
BUFFY
Oh god ... they never learn.
DANNY walks over to the leader of the group.
DANNY
I got you your girl, where's my ten bucks?"
The leader (JACK) looks at him, then vampfaces.
JACK
In hell!
DANNY
Dude, you're face is so-o-o screwed up.
JACK (startled)
Come again?
DANNY (detested)
You're face is all ... ugly.
JACK
Hello!?!? I'm Jack the Devil, the Fear of Edmonsville.
DANNY
Oh, right ... so where did you say the 10 bucks were?
JACK (furious)
In hell!!!
He snaps DANNY's neck.
JACK sighs
Well that's certainly feels better, so euhm ... don't think I properly introduced myself, I am Jack the De-
BUFFY
vil, Fear of Edmonsville. You already said.
JACK
I did?
BUFFY
Yes, I couldn't have made up that lame name myself, could I?
JACK
What?
BUFFY
Never mind.
JACK
Let's cut down to business, I know you're the slayer, and I know you've been causing trouble.
BUFFY (plays it over-innocent)
I may be the slayer, but I haven't been causing trouble, sir.
JACK
I know you're the slayer, I can smell it.
BIG DUMB VAMP
Yeah and we saw your picture on the internet.
JACK
Shut up!
BUFFY
Ok, you got my, I'm a slayer, but I retired, so it wasn't me.
JACK
Oh, really, 'cause I was told the slayer was responsible for killing my men, who then do you suppose killed them?
BUFFY
Another slayer.
Notices their surprised looks.
What, didn't you get the memo? I shared my powers; there are now about a thousand slayers.
They look scared.
JACK
Hahaha! Very good one, you almost got me there. She's just saying that to get us scared.
KENNEDY (appears from behind him)
Excuse me.
JACK
I don't think you belong here, best get out of her girlie.
KENNEDY
Well I would love to, but you said you wanted to fight the slayer, so here I am.
JACK
You're not the slayer, she is, you're just a girl.
KENNEDY
No, I'm a slayer, she's a retired slayer, she's just a girl. It's me you gotta be takin' into account.
The backdoor opens again, WILLOW, XANDER and DAWN walk out.
WILLOW
Hope I'm not interrupting, am I?
JACK (surprised)
Who are those people?
KENNEDY
You brought your friends along, so I did the same, hope you don't mind.
JACK (angry)
Oh I don't mind, I'll kill 'em all, let's get 'em guys.
He turns around, to see the guys all doubting and two of them already backing of into another alley. Suddenly bricks start falling out of the air and build up a wall onto which they stumble, they look around to see it, look back scared at WILLOW.
CAMERA ON: WILLOW, white haired, floating in the air, she grins.
JACK (furious)
GET THEM!
Two of the vamps charge at KENNEDY, the BIG DUMB VAMP at XANDER, one vamp at DAWN and JACK at BUFFY.
CAMERA ON: KENNEDY. The first vamps tries to punch her, but she ducks and kicks him full in the stomach. Then the other swings at her from the side, she ducks it to. Then throws herself at the first one, who's standing again, with her feet and at the same time, she twists the others neck. The second one walks around with his neck turned around. She stakes the first one.
CAMERA ON: XANDER, he's punching the BIG DUMB VAMP. But he doesn't even seem to feel it. WILLOW moves XANDER to the side, then moves her fist swiftly forward and holds it still an inch away from the BIG DUMB VAMP. He gives her a strange look, she smiles back at him. The opens her first, which sends him flying across the alley and makes him crash into the brick wall.
CAMERA ON: DAWN, being attacked by a vamp, she backs away from him which each of us swing.
CAMERA ON: BUFFY constantly backing a way from JACK, continuously ducking his blows at the very last moment.
BUFFY
How many times do I have to say you, I'm retired, I don't do this any more, and if I were, you'd be dust by now.
A vamp with his head facing the wrong side crosses them.
JACK (furious)
I will get you!!
BUFFY's now almost backed against the wall and she looks aside at DAWN, who is backed against the wall.
BUFFY
Dawn!!
DAWN looks up and BUFFY throws her stake at DAWN, who stakes the vamp attacking her. Then BUFFY ducks, as JACK swings, he hits the wall instead.
JACK (whining)
Ouch! Godda-... I will get you, ooow!
KENNEDY walks up from behind him and imitates his whining face. BUFFY and DAWN laugh.
JACK (angry, still in pain)
What!?!?!
KENNEDY imitates him again. BUFFY and DAWN laugh even harder. JACK turns around to see KENNEDY and takes fright of her; she stakes him and then waves her hand at him, as he dusts.
KENNEDY
Buh-bye!
KENNEDY, BUFFY, DAWN, WILLOW and XANDER come together.
KENNEDY
Does anyone still wanna go in, 'cause I personally had enough sweat for the night?
They're all silent and with their silence, make it clear they agree.
34 INT. SUMMER'S RESIDENCE LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
CAMERA ON: WILLOW, KENNEDY, XANDER, BUFFY and DAWN all sitting there chatting, some music channels is on, pop corn and drinks on the table.
WILLOW
-so, this guy’s like, no that's not me, that was the guy who just left.
KENNEDY laughs, but XANDER and BUFFY look puzzled.
DAWN stands up and walks over to the kitchen.
WILLOW
Ohhh, this clip, I just love this clip.
XANDER
Which one is it?
WILLOW
Dido, with euhm...
BUFFY stands up.
BUFFY
White flags! And that guy, he's gorgeous.
She goes to the kitchen as well.

CAMERA ON: DAWN's pouring a drink, BUFFY walks in, DAWN makes a move toward the door, to avoid, contact.
BUFFY
Oh no, you don't.
DAWN
What?
BUFFY
We need to have that talk again.
DAWN
Right.
BUFFY
Didn't I tell you, you were not supposed to do slaying?
DAWN (looks down, ashamed)
Yes.
BUFFY
Well ... I euhm ... changed my mind.
DAWN (stunned)
... you ... what?
BUFFY
You were right ... I was being a hypocrite. But you have to see, I just wanted to protect you.
DAWN (startled)
Oh my god ... that's.
BUFFY
There's just one thing, which is, you're the weakest one of them. You can only patrol if-
DAWN
I should've know, well let's hear it.
BUFFY
You promise to let me train you.
DAWN (surprised)
Are you kidding? Off course I will, that's just so-o-o wild!!!
BUFFY
Well I'm glad you think about it this way, but I promise you, I'm not easy.
DAWN
So, does this like mean, you will be going to slay again?
BUFFY
No-no-no! I'll just train you, apart from that, I'm just a girl.
