PREVIOUSLY ON BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER:
BUFFY, XANDER, DAWN and WILLOW moved to their new town, Hadenfield. DAWN started school and met MIKE and STEPHANIE. BUFFY goes on a short patrol and saves ALEX from VAMPIRES. She was out hunting for a demon who is collecting brains. MIKE gets attacked by the demon, but gets away and VANNY takes him to the hospital.
TEASER
45 INT. HADENFIELD HOSPITAL - AFTERNOON
BUFFY sat at the bedside of Alex. The doctors came in a few minutes ago and gave him some pain killers. They must have been drowsy pain killers because he fell asleep a few minutes after the doctors left.
ALEX (in his sleep)
Speedy...
BUFFY smiled. She sat back in the chair and thought about who SPEEDY could be. It would probably be the only thing she'd have to entertain herself. She didn't want to leave the hospital until she knew he would be fine. She slowly closed her eyes and was beginning to drift off when she heard people enter the room. She opened her eyes and was shocked to see a nurse putting MIKE on the other hospital bed. She was more surprised to see her neighbor, VANNY with him.
BUFFY
Vanny? It's Vanny, right? What are you doing here?
VANNY
This is Mike. He lives in town. He ran out in front of my car. He said he was attacked. I got out to help him, but he passed out.
BUFFY
Was it that de... murderer that's in town?
VANNY
I think so. Thank God he was able to get away.
A DOCTOR and a few NURSES enter the room. Each of them perform a certain task. A NURSE sticks an IV in his arm. Two other NURSES start doing vitals and statistics on MIKE. They take him off the hospital bed and put him on a stretcher.
DOCTOR
We need to get that arm stitched up.
The DOCTOR and the NURSES push him out of the room, leaving VANNY, BUFFY and a sleeping ALEX. The room grows quiet for a brief second, before STEPHANIE bursts into the hospital room, panting.
STEPHANIE
WHERE IS HE?! IS HE OK?!
BUFFY
He's fine. How'd you know he was here?
VANNY
I used to baby-sit them while they were kids, so I remembered her phone number. I called her from the car while I drove him here. On my cell phone, of course.
STEPHANIE walked into the room further, moving past BUFFY'S bag. As she passed the bag, the SCYTHE made the whistling sound. STEPHANIE stepped back, surprised by the sound, and the SCYTHE whistled again.
STEPHANIE
Anyone hear that?
She stepped forward and back a few timing, causing the SCYTHE to whistle a few more times. She looked at BUFFY and VANNY.
STEPHANIE
You all hear that right?
VANNY
I hear it, but maybe it's just one of the hospital machines.
STEPHANIE
I don't think so. My mother was a nurse and I practically grew up in the ER. Trust me when I say I know what all the machines sound like.
VANNY
What do you think, Buffy?
BUFFY
I think she's... a Slayer.

ACT ONE
45 INT. HADENFIELD HOSPITAL - AFTERNOON
VANNY and STEPHANIE are staring blankly at BUFFY, wondering what she meant by a Slayer. ANA walks by the door.
VANNY
A Slayer? What's a Slayer?
BUFFY
Uh... Did I say Slayer? I meant waiter! We need to find a waiter! Or... Or... You could be like a waiter, Vanny. I mean, when Alex and Mike are awake and better, they'll want something to drink, right? Do you think you could go track down someone and get them some water?
VANNY
Sure.
VANNY walks out of the room, almost bumping into ANA who is passing by somewhere in the hallway. BUFFY quickly turns back to STEPHANIE, who's looking at her weirdly. STEPHANIE leans against the wall and BUFFY sits in a chair. STEPHANIE decided to break the silence.
STEPHANIE
That was the worst excuse I've heard in my life. (She laughs.) What's a Slayer? And why do you think I'm one?
BUFFY
You might want to sit down. It's a lot to take in.
STEPHANIE
I'm good. I prefer to stand, thanks.
BUFFY (trying to sound like Giles)
In every generation, a Slayer is born. A Chosen One. One girl in all the world with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires. For thousands of years that was the case, but recently my friend Willow changed all that. You see, there are hundreds of girls in the world who could be the Slayer, they are called Potential Slayers. Since only one is called, their destiny is never filled. Willow did a spell to turn every Potential Slayer into a Slayer. (She reaches into her bag and pulls out the SCYTHE.) This is the most powerful Slayer weapon ever forged. It only reacts to a Slayer. (The SCYTHE starts to whistle as BUFFY holds it.) Look. (She walks to ALEX and puts it in one of his hands. Nothing happens.) See, nothing happened. He isn't a Slayer. Now, you hold it. (BUFFY held the SCYTHE out to STEPHANIE.)
STEPHANIE
Ok... (She slowly reached out and held the SCYTHE next to BUFFY'S hand. BUFFY let go and the SCYTHE reacted to STEPHANIE. It started to whistle.) I don't know if I believe this. You said something about vampires?
BUFFY
Yes. The Slayer fights vampires and other demons. You're a warrior of good. I know you won't believe any of this until you battle a vampire, but--
The DOCTORS and NURSES wheeled MIKE back into the hospital room. They put him on a bed across the room from ALEX. MIKE had been changed into one of those hospital dress things and he was still passed out. They hooked him up to an IV, left his charts on the bed, and walked out.
STEPHANIE
Mike...
STEPHANIE leaned forward off the wall and walked towards MIKE'S bed. She knew he was asleep, and battered, so she slowly climbed onto his bed and lied beside him. She looked at BUFFY for a few seconds, a look of confusion on her face, and turned back to MIKE, hugging him. BUFFY was about to say something when her CELL PHONE rang. She looked at the caller ID and it said XANDER was calling. BUFFY flipped open her CELL PHONE and cleared her throat.
BUFFY
Hello?
XANDER (on other end)
Buffy. Where are you?
BUFFY
I'm at the hospital. Mike, Dawn's friend, was attacked by the demon.
XANDER (on other end)
Is Mike ok? Did you find out anything about the demon?
BUFFY was about to answer XANDER when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and a nurse was standing next to her.
NURSE
I'm sorry, Miss. No cell phones are aloud in the hospital. If you want to make a call, we have a pay phone in the hallway or you can take your call outside.
BUFFY
Oh, I'm sorry. (She turned to Stephanie.) I'll be right back.
BUFFY walked out of the hospital room and into the hallway. She went to an elevator and pressed the floor button.
29 EXT. OUTSIDE HADENFIELD HOSPITAL - NIGHT
A few seconds later she was outside the hospital. She rolled her eyes. She didn't understand what the big deal was about talking on cell phones in the hospital. She looked back at her cell phone and put it back to her ear.
BUFFY
Sorry about that, Xander. You still there?
XANDER (on other end)
Yeah. I'm still here. So, you didn't find out anything about the demon?
BUFFY
No. I think we're gunna have to fight this one with strength over knowledge. I'm outside the hospital. It's night. The demon could be active by now. You and Willow should meet me here. I met someone here named Alex. He might have some information about the demon. We just have to wait for him to wake up.
XANDER (on the other end)
Wait a minute. It's night, the demon is active, and he wants to kill Mike.
BUFFY
Yeah...
XANDER (on the other end)
Then why would you leave him alone?
ACT TWO
45 INT. HADENFIELD HOSPITAL - NIGHT
LOTHORE walked back all the nurses. No one even knew he was a demon. Thanks to the power of the Maguiana statue, he was able to glamour himself to something evil. Only a force of good could see through his disguise. He walked up to the secretary's desk and put his hands down on it. The SECRETARY smiled up at him.
SECRETARY
How may I help you?
LOTHORE
Hi. I'm a family member of Michael Gellar. Can you please direct me to his hospital room?
SECRETARY
Let me check. One-second, please. (She typed in MIKE'S name into the computer.) He's in room 445.
LOTHORE
Thank you.
LOTHORE turned on his heels and started walking down the hallway. He passed by countless rooms and smiled evilly when he arrived at the doorway of room 445. He entered slowly and saw ALEX sleeping in the bed. He glared at the man, he was lucky. He passed by his bed and grinned when he saw MIKE and STEPHANIE lying in the bed. STEPHANIE'S Slayer senses went off and she opened her eyes. She jumped when she saw LOTHORE. She was a warrior of good, and could see through his disguise. She got off the bed and stood a few feet away from LOTHORE.
LOTHORE
A Slayer.
STEPHANIE
A Vampire.
LOTHORE (laughing)
Little girl, I'm not a vampire. I'm far from it.
STEPHANIE
Then what are you?
LOTHORE
A demon. (He grabbed STEPHANIE by the throat and tossed her across the room effortlessly.) It was brave of you to try to protect your friend, if that's what you were trying to do.
STEPHANIE rolled on the floor and scrambled to BUFFY'S bag. She pulled out the SCYTHE. Its powerful flowed through her and she stood up. LOTHORE looked back at her, unafraid.
LOTHORE
You have an ax. Big deal.
STEPHANIE
Not an ax. The Weapon of the Slayer.
STEPHANIE took a swing at him with the SCYTHE. He caught the weapon in midair and tossed it across the room. He backhanded her and she flew back and hit the wall.
LOTHORE
I've grown tired of your games. (He grabbed MIKE by the arm and dragged him out of the hospital bed.) If you want your friend you can come and get him.
BUFFY ran into the room as LOTHORE was about to leave. She saw the SCYTHE near her feet and picked it up. With the stake end pointed towards LOTHORE, she threw it at him. LOTHORE turned into energy and evaporated into the air before the weapon could reach him. The SCYTHE sailed through the air and impaled the wall, seconds after LOTHORE had vanished, taking MIKE with him.
ACT THREE
49 INT. BUFFY'S HOUSE - NIGHT
BUFFY called everyone to a meeting at her house. BUFFY sat in the living room, accompanied by XANDER, WILLOW, DAWN and STEPHANIE. She had a serious look on her face because someone's life was in danger. MIKE'S life was in danger.
BUFFY
While patrolling today I found this demon's lair. From what I saw today, his lair will probably be crawling with vampires. I say we hit the lair hard and fast. I go in on my own and I'm heading straight for the demon. Willow, I want you to disable any magical powers this statue might be giving him. Xander and Dawn, as always, stick together.
STEPHANIE
What about me?
BUFFY
You can help Xander and Dawn take out any vampires that try to stop me. Everyone got their parts? (She looks around. Everyone nodded.) Let's move.
29 EXT. DEMONS LAIR - NIGHT
BUFFY approached the layer of debris covering the entrance to LOTHORE'S lair. She carried the SCYTHE in her hand. XANDER, DAWN and STEPHANIE were armed with stakes. WILLOW could just use her magic as a weapon. BUFFY walked inside the lair and saw four vampires in the room. MIKE was chained to the wall next to the alter where LOTHORE was standing. He was holding a brain in his hand. LOTHORE turned his head slightly, knowing BUFFY was there.
LOTHORE
Don't worry, Slayer. You're not to late. Your friend is still alive. I just wanted to get you here so I could test out my new power.
He dropped the final brain into a fire that had been started on the alter. A purple glow emitted from the alter and shot into LOTHORE'S brain. A few seconds later the glowing stopped. LOTHORE smiled.
DAWN
Do we fight now?
The four VAMPIRES rushed at the group. BUFFY flipped over them and landed next to LOTHORE. She brought her foot up to kick him, but he caught her foot and slapped her. The powerful attack knocked her to the ground, and as she went to sweep kick him, he stepped on her legs.
LOTHORE
Wanna know what the brains were for, Slayer? Infinite knowledge. And now I have it. I know what you're going to do before you do it. (He kicked her in the stomach.) How does your little plan go now?
On the other side of the lair, the battle started. WILLOW moved forward passed the rest and approached the alter. Its eyes shot open and looked at WILLOW, who was pulling charms out of her pocket.
GREEK STATUE
Stand down, witch! I don't want to harm you.
WILLOW (smirking)
Like I'd be afraid of a statue that can talk.
The GREEK STATUE opened his mouth and a fire ball shot out towards WILLOW. She put her hand up and reflected the fire ball back at him. She levitated the charms in the air and quickly placed them around the statue. Meanwhile, a VAMPIRE forced XANDER up against the wall. DAWN jumped on the VAMPIRE'S back and pulled him away from XANDER. STEPHANIE ran forward and stakes the VAMPIRE in the heart. Another VAMPIRE stupidly rushed at XANDER. He ducked and the VAMPIRE tripped over him and fell on the ground. XANDER took out his stake and dusted the vampire. BUFFY could see that things would be easier if they had the SCYTHE.
BUFFY
DAWN!!!
BUFFY tossed the SCYTHE across the lair. DAWN caught it and sliced one of the vampires in half. Another vampire was closing in on STEPHANIE so DAWN tossed the SCYTHE to her. STEPHANIE caught it and slashed the vampire in half as well.
WILLOW
Solietum!
WILLOW clapped her hands together and an energy barrier formed from the charms placed around the GREEK STATUE. The energy barrier would block all abilities the GREEK STATUE was feeding to LOTHORE. WILLOW walked across the lair and gathered with her friends, making sure they were ok. It was all up to BUFFY now.
LOTHORE (laughing)
It doesn't matter if you disabled the statue! I already have the power! It's mine now! (He kicked Buffy in the stomach.) I know all the proper Slayer moves! I know all the proper Slayer blocks, kicks, punches; everything! You can't stop me because you can't even hit me! (LOTHORE saw the SCOOBIE GANG approaching them and threw a fire ball at them as a warning.) So, thank you for this short battle Slayer! You did exactly what I wanted you too! Now I know I have full power and I'll be in a higher rant of demonic standards because I killed THE Slayer with my new power. So I ask you this, Slayer. You can die quickly, or die fighting, like a warrior. What's your choice? How do you want to d--
LOTHORE stopped talking. Pain welled in his eyes. A blade could be heard leaving his flesh. He doubled over in pain and fell on the ground. Vi stood before them. She took a rag out of her pocket and cleaned the blood off her hunting knife.
Vi
Hey, Buffy. It looked like you needed a hand. (She looked at the demon.) Jerk.
BUFFY
That's not exactly the word I would use. How you been? I haven't seen you since we brought you home after we destroyed the Hellmouth. Why are you here? Not that I'm complaining.
Vi
Giles let me off from counseling the new Slayers at the Watchers Council. I wanted to come back and visit the woman who changed my life, and here I am. (She looked at MIKE who was chained to the wall.) I'm guessing he's one of yours?
BUFFY
Yeah. Would you mind getting him down?
Vi
Sure.
Vi walked over to the wall and started to unchain MIKE from the wall. BUFFY was about to walk to her friends when LOTHORE grabbed her leg. She shook his hand away and looked at him as he stood up.
LOTHORE
This ... isn't over ... bitch.
BUFFY
I really think it is. It doesn't really matter if you have infinite knowledge because now you are to injured to fight back. So, tell me. How do you wanna die?
BUFFY spin kicked LOTHORE in the stomach. He recovered and swung at her, to which she blocked it and punched him in the face. She kicked him in the stomach and round house kicked him in the face. VI and MIKE jumped out of the way as LOTHORE smacked into the wall. BUFFY jump kicked him in the neck to make sure he would stay where she wanted him too.
BUFFY
It doesn't matter if you know everything. Knowledge isn't everything. You can't always win with knowledge. You need to be serious. (She punched him.) You need to be able to bounce back. (She punched him again.) And you need to be resourceful.
BUFFY grabbed one of the chains from the wall and tied it around LOTHORE'S neck so that the two ends of the chain formed an x behind his neck. She pulled on them until she heard LOTHORE'S neck crack and then let his dead body fall to the ground.
GREEK STATUE
You stupid bitch. How dare you get in the way of my--
BUFFY
Shut up...
BUFFY pushed the demon statue onto the floor as she walked by. It hit the floor and broke into several large pieces. She took MIKE'S arm and put it over her shoulder, as she helped him out of the lair. WILLOW gathered her charms from the floor and followed XANDER, STEPHANIE and DAWN out of the lair.
26 INT. MIKE'S HOUSE - NIGHT
BUFFY, VI, MIKE, STEPHANIE and DAWN slowly enter MIKE'S home. His house is huge, and it's obvious to everyone that his parents are rich. MIKE starts walking up the stairs towards his room, but stops when he notices BUFFY is still there. He turns around.
MIKE
Buffy, why are you still here?
BUFFY
Someone had to explain something to your parents. I thought it should be me.
MIKE
My parents aren't home. They're never home. They're always traveling the world or on some multimillion dollar business trip. They've missed my Middle School Graduation, Confirmation, and I'll bet money they miss my High School Graduation too.
DAWN
Then how did they treat you at the hospital?
MIKE
I know all the information that they'd ask. I keep my health card in my pocket. All I did was give the doctors their cell phone number because doctors need parental consent to treat a minor.
STEPHANIE
I'll be upstairs. I'm beat. (She turns to everyone.) I'm gunna go to bed. I'm really tired. I'll talk to you soon.
STEPHANIE walks up the stairs, past MIKE, and goes down a hallway. A few seconds later you hear a door close. MIKE turns to everyone after he looks up the stairs.
MIKE
I think I'm gunna hit the sack too. I'll talk to everyone tomorrow too. Nice to meet you, Buffy and Vi. Talk to you later Dawn.
VI
Bye.
DAWN
Bye.
MIKE walked up the stairs and went down the same hallway STEPHANIE did. BUFFY, DAWN and VI walked out of MIKE'S house, closing the door behind them. WILLOW and XANDER were waiting for them on the steps. They both stood up when BUFFY walked outside.
XANDER
Everything go ok?
WILLOW
Yeah, whatcha say, Buffy?
BUFFY
Nothing. They weren't home. Uh... You guys go home or do whatever, I need to go into town. I'll be back in a little while.
XANDER
What do you need? I could get it for you. Maybe I could stop by and see Vanny. She was supposed to come by today, but from what you said, she saved Mike.
WILLOW
You think she deserves a thank you? (She remembers VI and turns back to her, smiling.) You wanna stay the night, Vi? I could make up a bed for you on the couch.
VI
How come whenever I visit you guys I sleep on the couch?
DAWN
I'd give you my bed, but I have school tomorrow and need my beauty sleep. (She knew what was coming.) Shut up.
BUFFY
Ok, I'll be in town. Xander will be at Vanny's house. Willow, Vi and Dawn will be at home. I think I got it. Call me if needed.
XANDER
It only occurs to me now that I don't know where Vanny lives.
A window from the third story MIKE'S house opens and MIKE sticks his head out the window, looking down at them.
MIKE
She lives on 1991 Provision Street. (He laughs.) Now go away so I can sleep!
29 EXT. 1991 PROVISION STREET - NIGHT
XANDER walked up VANNY'S drive way, his hands in his pockets. He didn't know why, but he felt nervous. He looked at the drive way as he walked up and saw that her car wasn't there and that the lights were off at her house. He sighed.
XANDER
Maybe tomorrow...
He turned around and walked down her drive way. He took one final glance at her house before he walked down the street, and towards BUFFY'S home.
45 INT. HADENFIELD HOSPITAL - MORNING
ALEX slowly opened his eyes and looked around the hospital room. He noticed that MIKE and VANNY were gone. He stretched and looked to his right. On his night stand was a vase full of flowers. He slowly reached forward and pulled a note from the flowers.
BUFFY
You don't need to read it. (She walked to a chair and pulled it over to his bed. She sat down and smiled at him.) It's just from me saying I hope you get well soon. The normal card stuff.
ALEX
It's the thought that counts.
BUFFY
Yeah, I guess. Are you feeling better?
ALEX
I'm feeling a lot better. I think I might move back home. If on my first day I'm attacked by vampires, and this is an omen of what the rest of my stay here will be like, I'm going home.
BUFFY
You just moved here?
ALEX
Yeah.
BUFFY
Me too. (She made herself comfortable in the chair.) So, Alex, tell me about yourself.
ALEX
Well, I have a pug named Speedy.
BUFFY
Ah, yes, Speedy. I heard you say his name in your sleep.
ALEX
I got him a while ago. I'm actually worried about his food and water issue at the moment. I haven't been home in two days.
BUFFY
Don't worry about it. I can send someone over there to take care of him.
ALEX
Ok, thanks. Well, where should I begin?
BUFFY
Um. Maybe we could try to do this like a conversation. I'm Buffy.
ALEX
I'm Alex. (He shakes her hand.) So, Buffy, what brings you to Hadenfield?
Buffy and Alex talk as the ending music for "When She Was Bad" plays in the background. The music gets louder and louder until you can't here their voices anymore and the picture slowly fades to black.

Since only one is called, their destiny is never filled. Willow did a spell to turn every Potential Slayer into a Slayer. (She reaches into her bag and pulls out the SCYTHE.) This is the most powerful Slayer weapon ever forged. It only reacts to a Slayer. (The SCYTHE starts to whistle as BUFFY holds it.) Look. (She walks to ALEX and puts it in one of his hands. Nothing happens.) See, nothing happened. He isn't a Slayer. Now, you hold it. (BUFFY held the SCYTHE out to STEPHANIE.)
STEPHANIE
Ok... (She slowly reached out and held the SCYTHE next to BUFFY'S hand. BUFFY let go and the SCYTHE reacted to STEPHANIE. It started to whistle.) I don't know if I believe this. You said something about vampires?
BUFFY
Yes. The Slayer fights vampires and other demons. You're a warrior of good. I know you won't believe any of this until you battle a vampire, but--
The DOCTORS and NURSES wheeled MIKE back into the hospital room. They put him on a bed across the room from ALEX. MIKE had been changed into one of those hospital dress things and he was still passed out. They hooked him up to an IV, left his charts on the bed, and walked out.
STEPHANIE
Mike...
STEPHANIE leaned forward off the wall and walked towards MIKE'S bed. She knew he was asleep, and battered, so she slowly climbed onto his bed and lied beside him. She looked at BUFFY for a few seconds, a look of confusion on her face, and turned back to MIKE, hugging him. BUFFY was about to say something when her CELL PHONE rang. She looked at the caller ID and it said XANDER was calling. BUFFY flipped open her CELL PHONE and cleared her throat.
BUFFY
Hello?
XANDER (on other end)
Buffy. Where are you?
BUFFY
I'm at the hospital. Mike, Dawn's friend, was attacked by the demon.
XANDER (on other end)
Is Mike ok? Did you find out anything about the demon?
BUFFY was about to answer XANDER when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and a nurse was standing next to her.
NURSE
I'm sorry, Miss. No cell phones are aloud in the hospital. If you want to make a call, we have a pay phone in the hallway or you can take your call outside.
BUFFY
Oh, I'm sorry. (She turned to Stephanie.) I'll be right back.
BUFFY walked out of the hospital room and into the hallway. She went to an elevator and pressed the floor button.
29 EXT. OUTSIDE HADENFIELD HOSPITAL - NIGHT
A few seconds later she was outside the hospital. She rolled her eyes. She didn't understand what the big deal was about talking on cell phones in the hospital. She looked back at her cell phone and put it back to her ear.
BUFFY
Sorry about that, Xander. You still there?
XANDER (on other end)
Yeah. I'm still here. So, you didn't find out anything about the demon?
BUFFY
No. I think we're gunna have to fight this one with strength over knowledge. I'm outside the hospital. It's night. The demon could be active by now. You and Willow should meet me here. I met someone here named Alex. He might have some information about the demon. We just have to wait for him to wake up.
XANDER (on the other end)
Wait a minute. It's night, the demon is active, and he wants to kill Mike.
BUFFY
Yeah...
XANDER (on the other end)
Then why would you leave him alone?
ACT TWO
45 INT. HADENFIELD HOSPITAL - NIGHT
LOTHORE walked back all the nurses. No one even knew he was a demon. Thanks to the power of the Maguiana statue, he was able to glamour himself to something evil. Only a force of good could see through his disguise. He walked up to the secretary's desk and put his hands down on it. The SECRETARY smiled up at him.
SECRETARY
How may I help you?
LOTHORE
Hi. I'm a family member of Michael Gellar. Can you please direct me to his hospital room?
SECRETARY
Let me check. One-second, please. (She typed in MIKE'S name into the computer.) He's in room 445.
LOTHORE
Thank you.
LOTHORE turned on his heels and started walking down the hallway. He passed by countless rooms and smiled evilly when he arrived at the doorway of room 445. He entered slowly and saw ALEX sleeping in the bed. He glared at the man, he was lucky. He passed by his bed and grinned when he saw MIKE and STEPHANIE lying in the bed. STEPHANIE'S Slayer senses went off and she opened her eyes. She jumped when she saw LOTHORE. She was a warrior of good, and could see through his disguise. She got off the bed and stood a few feet away from LOTHORE.
LOTHORE
A Slayer.
STEPHANIE
A Vampire.
LOTHORE (laughing)
Little girl, I'm not a vampire. I'm far from it.
STEPHANIE
Then what are you?
LOTHORE
A demon. (He grabbed STEPHANIE by the throat and tossed her across the room effortlessly.) It was brave of you to try to protect your friend, if that's what you were trying to do.
STEPHANIE rolled on the floor and scrambled to BUFFY'S bag. She pulled out the SCYTHE. Its powerful flowed through her and she stood up. LOTHORE looked back at her, unafraid.
LOTHORE
You have an ax. Big deal.
STEPHANIE
Not an ax. The Weapon of the Slayer.
STEPHANIE took a swing at him with the SCYTHE. He caught the weapon in midair and tossed it across the room. He backhanded her and she flew back and hit the wall.
LOTHORE
I've grown tired of your games. (He grabbed MIKE by the arm and dragged him out of the hospital bed.) If you want your friend you can come and get him.
BUFFY ran into the room as LOTHORE was about to leave. She saw the SCYTHE near her feet and picked it up. With the stake end pointed towards LOTHORE, she threw it at him. LOTHORE turned into energy and evaporated into the air before the weapon could reach him. The SCYTHE sailed through the air and impaled the wall, seconds after LOTHORE had vanished, taking MIKE with him.
ACT THREE
49 INT. BUFFY'S HOUSE - NIGHT
BUFFY called everyone to a meeting at her house. BUFFY sat in the living room, accompanied by XANDER, WILLOW, DAWN and STEPHANIE. She had a serious look on her face because someone's life was in danger. MIKE'S life was in danger.
BUFFY
While patrolling today I found this demon's lair. From what I saw today, his lair will probably be crawling with vampires. I say we hit the lair hard and fast. I go in on my own and I'm heading straight for the demon. Willow, I want you to disable any magical powers this statue might be giving him. Xander and Dawn, as always, stick together.
STEPHANIE
What about me?
BUFFY
You can help Xander and Dawn take out any vampires that try to stop me. Everyone got their parts? (She looks around. Everyone nodded.) Let's move.
29 EXT. DEMONS LAIR - NIGHT
BUFFY approached the layer of debris covering the entrance to LOTHORE'S lair. She carried the SCYTHE in her hand. XANDER, DAWN and STEPHANIE were armed with stakes. WILLOW could just use her magic as a weapon. BUFFY walked inside the lair and saw four vampires in the room. MIKE was chained to the wall next to the alter where LOTHORE was standing. He was holding a brain in his hand. LOTHORE turned his head slightly, knowing BUFFY was there.
LOTHORE
Don't worry, Slayer. You're not to late. Your friend is still alive. I just wanted to get you here so I could test out my new power.
He dropped the final brain into a fire that had been started on the alter. A purple glow emitted from the alter and shot into LOTHORE'S brain. A few seconds later the glowing stopped. LOTHORE smiled.
DAWN
Do we fight now?
The four VAMPIRES rushed at the group. BUFFY flipped over them and landed next to LOTHORE. She brought her foot up to kick him, but he caught her foot and slapped her. The powerful attack knocked her to the ground, and as she went to sweep kick him, he stepped on her legs.
LOTHORE
Wanna know what the brains were for, Slayer? Infinite knowledge. And now I have it. I know what you're going to do before you do it. (He kicked her in the stomach.) How does your little plan go now?
On the other side of the lair, the battle started. WILLOW moved forward passed the rest and approached the alter. Its eyes shot open and looked at WILLOW, who was pulling charms out of her pocket.
GREEK STATUE
Stand down, witch! I don't want to harm you.
WILLOW (smirking)
Like I'd be afraid of a statue that can talk.
The GREEK STATUE opened his mouth and a fire ball shot out towards WILLOW. She put her hand up and reflected the fire ball back at him. She levitated the charms in the air and quickly placed them around the statue. Meanwhile, a VAMPIRE forced XANDER up against the wall. DAWN jumped on the VAMPIRE'S back and pulled him away from XANDER. STEPHANIE ran forward and stakes the VAMPIRE in the heart. Another VAMPIRE stupidly rushed at XANDER. He ducked and the VAMPIRE tripped over him and fell on the ground. XANDER took out his stake and dusted the vampire. BUFFY could see that things would be easier if they had the SCYTHE.
BUFFY
DAWN!!!
BUFFY tossed the SCYTHE across the lair. DAWN caught it and sliced one of the vampires in half. Another vampire was closing in on STEPHANIE so DAWN tossed the SCYTHE to her. STEPHANIE caught it and slashed the vampire in half as well.
WILLOW
Solietum!
WILLOW clapped her hands together and an energy barrier formed from the charms placed around the GREEK STATUE. The energy barrier would block all abilities the GREEK STATUE was feeding to LOTHORE. WILLOW walked across the lair and gathered with her friends, making sure they were ok. It was all up to BUFFY now.
LOTHORE (laughing)
It doesn't matter if you disabled the statue! I already have the power! It's mine now! (He kicked Buffy in the stomach.) I know all the proper Slayer moves! I know all the proper Slayer blocks, kicks, punches; everything! You can't stop me because you can't even hit me! (LOTHORE saw the SCOOBIE GANG approaching them and threw a fire ball at them as a warning.) So, thank you for this short battle Slayer! You did exactly what I wanted you too! Now I know I have full power and I'll be in a higher rant of demonic standards because I killed THE Slayer with my new power. So I ask you this, Slayer. You can die quickly, or die fighting, like a warrior. What's your choice? How do you want to d--
LOTHORE stopped talking. Pain welled in his eyes. A blade could be heard leaving his flesh. He doubled over in pain and fell on the ground. Vi stood before them. She took a rag out of her pocket and cleaned the blood off her hunting knife.
Vi
Hey, Buffy. It looked like you needed a hand. (She looked at the demon.) Jerk.
BUFFY
That's not exactly the word I would use. How you been? I haven't seen you since we brought you home after we destroyed the Hellmouth. Why are you here? Not that I'm complaining.
Vi
Giles let me off from counseling the new Slayers at the Watchers Council. I wanted to come back and visit the woman who changed my life, and here I am. (She looked at MIKE who was chained to the wall.) I'm guessing he's one of yours?
BUFFY
Yeah. Would you mind getting him down?
Vi
Sure.
Vi walked over to the wall and started to unchain MIKE from the wall. BUFFY was about to walk to her friends when LOTHORE grabbed her leg. She shook his hand away and looked at him as he stood up.
LOTHORE
This ... isn't over ... bitch.
BUFFY
I really think it is. It doesn't really matter if you have infinite knowledge because now you are to injured to fight back. So, tell me. How do you wanna die?
BUFFY spin kicked LOTHORE in the stomach. He recovered and swung at her, to which she blocked it and punched him in the face. She kicked him in the stomach and round house kicked him in the face. VI and MIKE jumped out of the way as LOTHORE smacked into the wall. BUFFY jump kicked him in the neck to make sure he would stay where she wanted him too.
BUFFY
It doesn't matter if you know everything. Knowledge isn't everything. You can't always win with knowledge. You need to be serious. (She punched him.) You need to be able to bounce back. (She punched him again.) And you need to be resourceful.
BUFFY grabbed one of the chains from the wall and tied it around LOTHORE'S neck so that the two ends of the chain formed an x behind his neck. She pulled on them until she heard LOTHORE'S neck crack and then let his dead body fall to the ground.
GREEK STATUE
You stupid bitch. How dare you get in the way of my--
BUFFY
Shut up...
BUFFY pushed the demon statue onto the floor as she walked by. It hit the floor and broke into several large pieces. She took MIKE'S arm and put it over her shoulder, as she helped him out of the lair. WILLOW gathered her charms from the floor and followed XANDER, STEPHANIE and DAWN out of the lair.
26 INT. MIKE'S HOUSE - NIGHT
BUFFY, VI, MIKE, STEPHANIE and DAWN slowly enter MIKE'S home. His house is huge, and it's obvious to everyone that his parents are rich. MIKE starts walking up the stairs towards his room, but stops when he notices BUFFY is still there. He turns around.
MIKE
Buffy, why are you still here?
BUFFY
Someone had to explain something to your parents. I thought it should be me.
MIKE
My parents aren't home. They're never home. They're always traveling the world or on some multimillion dollar business trip. They've missed my Middle School Graduation, Confirmation, and I'll bet money they miss my High School Graduation too.
DAWN
Then how did they treat you at the hospital?
MIKE
I know all the information that they'd ask. I keep my health card in my pocket. All I did was give the doctors their cell phone number because doctors need parental consent to treat a minor.
STEPHANIE
I'll be upstairs. I'm beat. (She turns to everyone.) I'm gunna go to bed. I'm really tired. I'll talk to you soon.
STEPHANIE walks up the stairs, past MIKE, and goes down a hallway. A few seconds later you hear a door close. MIKE turns to everyone after he looks up the stairs.
MIKE
I think I'm gunna hit the sack too. I'll talk to everyone tomorrow too. Nice to meet you, Buffy and Vi. Talk to you later Dawn.
VI
Bye.
DAWN
Bye.
MIKE walked up the stairs and went down the same hallway STEPHANIE did. BUFFY, DAWN and VI walked out of MIKE'S house, closing the door behind them. WILLOW and XANDER were waiting for them on the steps. They both stood up when BUFFY walked outside.
XANDER
Everything go ok?
WILLOW
Yeah, whatcha say, Buffy?
BUFFY
Nothing. They weren't home. Uh... You guys go home or do whatever, I need to go into town. I'll be back in a little while.
XANDER
What do you need? I could get it for you. Maybe I could stop by and see Vanny. She was supposed to come by today, but from what you said, she saved Mike.
WILLOW
You think she deserves a thank you? (She remembers VI and turns back to her, smiling.) You wanna stay the night, Vi? I could make up a bed for you on the couch.
VI
How come whenever I visit you guys I sleep on the couch?
DAWN
I'd give you my bed, but I have school tomorrow and need my beauty sleep. (She knew what was coming.) Shut up.
BUFFY
Ok, I'll be in town. Xander will be at Vanny's house. Willow, Vi and Dawn will be at home. I think I got it. Call me if needed.
XANDER
It only occurs to me now that I don't know where Vanny lives.
A window from the third story MIKE'S house opens and MIKE sticks his head out the window, looking down at them.
MIKE
She lives on 1991 Provision Street. (He laughs.) Now go away so I can sleep!
29 EXT. 1991 PROVISION STREET - NIGHT
XANDER walked up VANNY'S drive way, his hands in his pockets. He didn't know why, but he felt nervous. He looked at the drive way as he walked up and saw that her car wasn't there and that the lights were off at her house. He sighed.
XANDER
Maybe tomorrow...
He turned around and walked down her drive way. He took one final glance at her house before he walked down the street, and towards BUFFY'S home.
45 INT. HADENFIELD HOSPITAL - MORNING
ALEX slowly opened his eyes and looked around the hospital room. He noticed that MIKE and VANNY were gone. He stretched and looked to his right. On his night stand was a vase full of flowers. He slowly reached forward and pulled a note from the flowers.
BUFFY
You don't need to read it. (She walked to a chair and pulled it over to his bed. She sat down and smiled at him.) It's just from me saying I hope you get well soon. The normal card stuff.
ALEX
It's the thought that counts.
BUFFY
Yeah, I guess. Are you feeling better?
ALEX
I'm feeling a lot better. I think I might move back home. If on my first day I'm attacked by vampires, and this is an omen of what the rest of my stay here will be like, I'm going home.
BUFFY
You just moved here?
ALEX
Yeah.
BUFFY
Me too. (She made herself comfortable in the chair.) So, Alex, tell me about yourself.
ALEX
Well, I have a pug named Speedy.
BUFFY
Ah, yes, Speedy. I heard you say his name in your sleep.
ALEX
I got him a while ago. I'm actually worried about his food and water issue at the moment. I haven't been home in two days.
BUFFY
Don't worry about it. I can send someone over there to take care of him.
ALEX
Ok, thanks. Well, where should I begin?
BUFFY
Um. Maybe we could try to do this like a conversation. I'm Buffy.
ALEX
I'm Alex. (He shakes her hand.) So, Buffy, what brings you to Hadenfield?
Buffy and Alex talk as the ending music for "When She Was Bad" plays in the background. The music gets louder and louder until you can't here their voices anymore and the picture slowly fades to black.
