I've Converted You To The Way Of Buffy

my mum and dad don't like buffy but they will stil sit down with me and watch when it's on. although that maybe cuz they have no choice cuz i watch it everyday on FX.

As many of you, I was a Buffy "eye-roller". I always thought it was kinda dumb cause I saw bits and pieces and thought that the "vampires" were poorly done, makeup wise. And it seemed really stupid. My suitemates from this past year in college and I went through many TV shows as we were procrastinating. Buffy was the last show they went to, but I refused to watch it. As we had our ajoining bathroom doors open all the time, I saw clips and pieces from Buffy as I cooked or whatever (I ALWAYS seemed to walk in on an intense part! Like when Buffy was running to try and stop Riley from leaving, or when Buffy was shot by Warren!). I still didn't watch it and finally I was like, "FINE give me the pilot." I finished season 1 in two days. The rest is history. And since I just finished season 7, I figured out that it took me almost exactly a month to complete the 7-season series. Take THAT Alias! Just kidding! I love Alias but this show was definitly one of a kind and I have a different kind of love for it than for other shows because I think I connect to characters, especially Buffy, more than I did on Alias. Perhaps because by the end of the show (actually season 6 and 7) Buffy was my age.

yay another one bites the dust
My friends REALLY annoy me. I keep telling them, "come on. Just borrow one season. PLEASE! I swear, just watch an episode of my choosing, and you'll be hooked! ... Please... 🙁 Just watch the show..." That's pretty much how our convos about Buffy go. Then they precede (sp?) to say that Buffy is gay, and Buffy is or girls even though they have never seen a single episode. They're bastards like that. Oh, and this is coming from the people that say that Grease is gay. :O

I was never into the name, buffy the vampire slayer. I too thought it was kind of cheesy. But now I am so proud to say the name. I should wear a shirt that says "I'm proud to love Buffy The Vampire Slayer....and ya'll should watch it because I said so!"

HA! I can finally say that my converting is going better. Because yay, I got my boyfriend to watch Buffy with me 😀 And he even likes it 😀

Since I've been at it for only 10 months or so, this is my greatest achievement: a good friend got cancer after I went to the States few years back, and after I came back, she was recuperating and out of contact with everyone. Due to my school obligations and starting work, I only got to see her in once a month or so, and every time we talked about what we were watching.
Now, she's seen first two seasons of Buffy, like everyone else in Bosnia, because the local TV channel repeated them so many times, and even if she didn't see every last one, she got the gist of it - and was apprehensive. But, I repeated the jokes from few episodes, and got her to follow me through the exploration of Buffyverse.
She got the better deal. I downloaded the episodes one by one and burned them on DVD's, and when she got on board, I already had Buffy 3-7 and Angel Season 1. She and her sister share a room - they didn't sleep until they saw every episode they got from me. 🙂 Her sister watched the episodes while my friend slept due to exhaustion and the chemo she was undergoing, and then re-watched them with her. 🙂 She even started reading comics because I slipped in Season 8 and Angel AtFall with Season 5 of Angel. 🙂
Honestly, I had more fun listening to them two talking about the show than any of the episodes I've seen. 😀

That is extremely sweet:)...just makes you say aww!
I think a lot of people get turned off by the name "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" because it honestly sounds silly. I know that was my mom's original apprehension about watching it. But, I would have the FX reruns on during dinner and suddenly she started buying the box sets. I was so glad I got her hooked and we always watched the new ones of Buffy & Angel together.

More recently, as of the past few weeks, I got my best friend hooked. He said that he REALLY started loving the show once the 4th season came. We burned through seasons 1-6 in a couple week's time (the last ep we watched was 'Gone' the other day, so we're getting there...). Yes, we are crazy. It's so fun re-watching the series with a newbie, mostly for people's reactions to things, especially to the big twists you know are coming. It makes watching Buffy so much more fun.

Well, I work as a camp counselor, and because I'm in charge of arts and crafts with a few of my friends, we have a lot of free time. One of my friends was a big fan of Doctor Who, and she agreed to watch Buffy if I watched Doctor Who. I lent her my season 2 DVDs, and now, two weeks later, she's on season 5 and is completely obsessed with Spike. She's said multiple times that she loves me for introducing her to it...meanwhile, I still haven't seen any of Doctor Who because she's too fixated on Buffy. I also got about three of my other friends to watch What's My Line, Lovers Walk, The Wish, Doppelgangland, Something Blue, Hush, and Pangs, and they're all begging me to lend them the DVDs, too. The other day, they were all quoting Buffy, and it made me very proud.

*grin* You're more than fulfilling your quota.
my sister i guess, she just took like almost ten years to want to watch it (10 in November) so its been around as long as she has, and when she first started to talk she knew how to say the names of the buffy characters, i could point at a poster and she's slur in a baby voice "Spike".... "Willow"....."Xander" but then she just refused to watch it and now she gets in from school (well on thursday anyways since she was off Friday for some stupid reason.... teacher training or something?) and asked within 2mins.... "Can we watch buffy tonight?" and she's totally into it, in like a week she's gotten onto the 3rd season (The Wish was her last episode)

I think its a shame she's watching it so quick because she didnt get emotional at the end of 'becoming part 2', its like i got to see it in real time and get all attached to the characters and she well hasnt.

Okay. I finally got my mum into the Buffyverse. Although she prefers Angel. Me thinks she has a crush on him.

Haha, today I watched 3 episodes with my roommate when he only planned to watch one (but we watched Never Kill a Boy on the First Day and he was so impressed he wanted more). This is getting good. He's soooo gonna get hooked. He even already had character preferences, from what I've seen he's a Giles lover and Xander hater.

My story: I've heard of Buffy before, but I just didn't take much interest in it, I wasn't refusing to watch it, I just had no interest. So finally my friend told me to check it out every morning on FX. I was hooked after the first episode.

Anyway, my friends are so narrow-minded, they just won't watch it! I tell them they can borrow season, and everything, I say, "Come on, I'm begging you! You don't do anything all today! Just watch one season... PLEASE!" Yeah, it never works. I think I might get my neighbor soon though. 🙂

HOWEVER! I did get one of my friends towatch Firefly, and he loved it. He has my Serenity: Those left Behind, and Serenity the movie. That mkaes me a little happy.

IT was my mother. And i resisted, hard. I would have loved to share all this withher. I completed her collection. And i am about to start on collecting Angel before my tv channel takes him away as well. I never heard of fire fly. Dont care for charmed, it's jsut not Buffy. And they over use the word "vanquish". I suspect soon i will be reading my mother's collection of Buffy novels and complete the purchase of that as well. But i am Protesting that Buffy Comic Book.........i jsut ant bring myself around to it..........i mean i like WATCHING those characters ..... well i jsut dont know, lever liked ye ole graphic novel much in the past.

done yammering now.

You should check out Firefly. It's made by the same person that made Buffy, whereas Charmed is a totally different company. You really need to look into the comics too, it's a great continuation of the series. Welcome to BB!
I don't remember anyone I've converted, although know many people who raise an eyebrow when I mention Buffy. The truth is, many people I know, friends, I know BECAUSE of Buffy. That's a plus!

Oh my God, this Buffy convert thing in this house is getting WILD. I just watched 3 episodes with my other roommate, and now she wants to finish the whole season in one go. People, when I'm getting an overdose of Buffy, be worried. And my other convert, he wants to watch Buffy with me later tonight as well. I don't even watch episodes alone anymore, people here just wanna keep watching! I love it, though I seriously need to get some work done and like this it's not going to happen. But god, I'm so glad I finally got my own little army of Buffy converts 😀

People just really don't understand Buffy until they watch it. It's like one sngle episodes will turn them.
I converted my sister years ago. I tried to convert my dad but he says he gets tired of "all the monsters and magic." He loves Firefly and Serenity though. I've been able to convert a lot of people to Firefly but they don't want to give Buffy a chance because they like the space mythos over the vampire mythos. Mostly people just laugh at me when I tell them I'm a Buffy fan, even though all they watch is crap like Rock of Love and The Hills. I've never watched Charmed or Smallville but many of my friends do and they don't want to give Buffy a chance because they think those shows are better (boy are they missing out).

Converting is cool, but I dont have luck enought....

My boyfriend kinda like it, but we dont have time to watch it... 🙁 The only time I have is at night, after college, so sad.
My mom says that she cant believe that I like Angel/Buffy and is always asking me why i do it lol My father watched one or two episodes my almost slept xD They like crime things like L&O, or House.

Sad sad, I dont have ANYONE to talk to offline, neither in portuguese lol

Ok technically I didn't convert him but I just found out that one of my best friends, like we are seriously tight, is a huge Buffy and Angel fan...and...he's a Bangel!!! How have I known him 3 years and it never came up??? I'm baffled

On and on topic note operation convert American roommates starts tomorrow...mwahahahaha

Im watching Angel with one of my friends like right now! seriously, and we didnt have the stupid name deal because, its, like Angel! she lurrrves david boreanaz.....well, he IS attractive......Im like IN LOVE with wesley though. we watched Hero earlier, I teared up majorly...and i gotta say my grandma was kinda checkin out the qtrial.......

Oh, and my own converting, well, my mum I guess, ahe started watching the show when I was 2 and just kept watching it, cikkected all the seasons, and recently we bought angel which, dont shoot me, i really prefer to buffy

go Langel

As soon as I finished my watch through of all seven seasons (for the first time) earlier this year, I sat down with my sister and got her to watch them all - and she got hooked.

However, my other sister was completely disdainful the whole time, making comments - "Ugh, you're going to watch Buffy *again*?" etc. and she absolutely refused to watch, saying that it was boring, rubbish - you get the idea.

Anyway, the channel FX has been showing season four (well, it's now into season five) in the mornings, and I've been watching, and she'll come into the room, make a tutting noise, but sit down and watch anyway... I think she's getting converted XD

Even going so far as to ask me what's going on etc. So, it looks like she might be on the way to liking Buffy 😀
